Cairo day tours to Christian and Islamic Sights starts at 8:00 am Pickup from your hotel in Cairo By Tour guide to Start your full day tour visiting Old Cairo that known as Christian Coptic Cairo which is Among the most important locations visited by the Holy Family where the spiritual impact of their presence is most felt still
The Hanging Church is named for its location above a gatehouse of Babylon Fortress, the Roman fortress in Coptic Cairo (Old Cairo); its nave is suspended over a passage. The church is approached by twenty-nine steps; early travelers to Cairo dubbed it "the Staircase Church".[1] The land surface has risen by some six metres since the Roman period[why?] so the Roman tower is mostly buried below ground, reducing the visual impact of the church's elevated position. The entrance from the street is through iron gates under a pointed stone arch. The nineteenth-century facade with twin bell towers is then seen beyond a narrow courtyard decorated with modern art biblical designs. Up the steps and through the entrance is a further small courtyard leading to the eleventh-century outer porch
The Ben Ezra Synagogue (Hebrew: בית כנסת בן עזרא, Arabic: معبد بن عزرا), sometimes referred to as the El-Geniza Synagogue (Hebrew: בית כנסת אל גניזה) or the Synagogue of the Levantines (al-Shamiyin),[1] is situated in Old Cairo, Egypt. According to local folklore, it is located on the site where baby Moses was found.[2] This was the synagogue whose geniza or store room was found in the 19th century to contain a treasure of abandoned Hebrew, Aramaic and Judeo-Arabic secular and sacred manuscripts. The collection, known as the Cairo Geniza, was brought to the University of Cambridge in Cambridge, England at the instigation of Solomon Schechter. It is now divided between several academic libraries, with the majority being kept at the Cambridge University Library.
Embark on a memorable excursion to Abu-Sergah & St. Barbara Old Cairo, an iconic religious site that beautifully preserves the essence of ancient Egypt. Situated in Old Cairo, this captivating complex stands as a beacon of Coptic Christianity and an embodiment of the country's fascinating history. Admire the stunning craftsmanship and timeless beauty displayed in the intricate designs, ancient relics, and sacred icons throughout the church and monastery. Whether you are intrigued by architecture, spirituality, or simply appreciate the allure of historical landmarks, Abu-Sergah & St. Barbara Old Cairo offers an enriching experience like no other.
Al-Rifa'i Mosque (Arabic: مسجد الرفاعي, transliterated also as Al-Rifai, Al-Refai, Al-Refa'i, and named in English the Royal Mosque) is located in Midan al-Qal'a, adjacent to the Cairo Citadel. It is the Khedival Mausoleum of the Royal Family of Muhammad Ali Pasha. The building is located opposite the Mosque-Madrassa of Sultan Hassan,[1] which dates from around 1361, and was architecturally conceived as a complement to the older structure. This was part of a vast campaign by the 19th century rulers of Egypt to both associate themselves with the perceived glory of earlier periods in Egypt's Islamic history and modernize the city. The mosque was constructed next to two large public squares and off of several European style boulevards constructed around the same time
The Mosque-Madrassa of Sultan Hassan is a monumental mosque and madrassa located in the historic district of Cairo, Egypt. It was built between 1356 and 1363 during the Bahri Mamluk period, commissioned by Sultan an-Nasir Hasan. The mosque was considered remarkable for its massive size and innovative architectural components, and is still considered one of the most impressive historic monuments in Cairo today
The Citadel of Cairo or Citadel of Saladin is a medieval Islamic-era fortification in Cairo, Egypt, built by Salah ad-Din (Saladin) and further developed by subsequent Egyptian rulers. It was the seat of government in Egypt and the residence of its rulers for nearly 700 years from the 13th to the 19th centuries. Its location on a promontory of the Mokattam hills near the center of Cairo commands a strategic position overlooking the city and dominating its skyline. At the time of its construction, it was among the most impressive and ambitious military fortification projects of its time. It is now a preserved historic site, including mosques and museums.

Our guide Mahmoud was great, very friendly and welcoming and very knowledgeable. He was flexible with the sights happy to show us somethings not on the set program, and adapt as we went. He knew so much about the history of these places and is an egyptologist. He timed things well and we avoided crowds for the most part. We all felt very comfortable. Our driver was also professional and kept us safe on the roads. There were seatbelts in the vehicle which is important to us. We were also not taken to any shops (which we requested) which was great. The only issue we had was with the communication with Emo tours via WhatsApp. The person who communicated with us was an office staff person not our guide. He/she was really quite rude and unprofessional. We asked several times via WhatsApp where we should meet our guide at the airport and they just would not tell us this (just kept saying check your confirmation- which just said the terminal not where at the terminal), so we had trouble finding him on the day. Happy to recommend the tour, but just caution that if you are having airport pick up or need to deal with Emo tours directly you may have difficulty.
The religious sites were very interesting. Our guide and driver were very professional and we were very happy with the tour.
I have to be honest, I enjoyed the Coptic Cairo and Islamic Cairo excursion much more. It was very interesting. It offers a wonderful view of all of Cairo, where you can take beautiful photos. I highly recommend it. Feedback
We are three middle age women traveling together and today we spend an amazing day with Basin who took as to the Copto and the Muslin Cairo. He was a great and attentive guide. We highly recomend him. The driver was also nice.
This tour was a great experience. Omar from EMO Tours was very helpful in answering all our queries. Our guide, Ms. Salwa, was very knowledgeable and even knew perfect place to enjoy local vegetarian lunch. I forgot my specs in the car. Omar took all efforts to make sure I get my specs back before my flight back home. Recommend EMO tours for Cairo trips.
Our guide was very kind and very helpful. The driver was very good and cautious. Very rare to find such a driver in Egypt.
My your guide Michael took me to several iconic sites in Christian and Muslim history. He was patient, kind, and knowledgeable. I now have wonderful pictures, memories, and knowledge to match. I highly recommend this your and this Tour Guide.
We had a fantastic experience with Mohammed Bin Shama, our driver for the Cairo private guided tour, booked through Viator with Emo Tours. Mohammed was always on time and incredibly efficient, ensuring our day went smoothly from start to finish. His ability to communicate in English was excellent, making it easy for us to engage and ask questions throughout the tour. He was not only professional but also very caring, offering thoughtful tips and insights about the sites we visited in Islamic and Coptic Cairo. His politeness and professionalism made us feel very comfortable and well taken care of throughout the day. The tour itself was outstanding, with in-depth knowledge of the history and culture of Cairo. We highly recommend this tour for anyone looking for a well-organized, informative, and enjoyable experience in Cairo!
Our tour guide Joseph was extremely knowledgeable and friendly. Without him we would never have found all the churches and mosques we visited. Thanks to our driver that somehow kept us safe in this crazy traffic. Enjoyed the day
We have just hired a driver and we visited all the attractions by ourselves. This is the best experience without a guide.
Fantastic and really helpful, great guys would recommend to all that come Egypt to use there service !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It was great. The Tour and the driver was patient. Everything was explained well. Ask for Michael as your tour guide.
The tour was wonderful. The guide Myrna ( Mira) is enthusiastic and well read. She makes the day perfect. She involves each person into the tour and is happy to answer questions. Punctual, clean car, good driver. No complaints at all.
Great day with our very knowledgeable guide Fatima. Very happy to answer all our questions. Gave us lots of information and plenty of time in each place. Bought water and a snack for us Nice buffet lunch stop at a good time and place Private tour for 3 of us Highly recommend Emo tours Driver friendly and good vehicle
Yasmine and Said were a great team! They got us were we needed to be on time and Yasmine was very informative! Cannot imaging doing this without them.
We had great time touring around the Citadel and Coptic Egypt. Jasmine our guide was very knowledgeable We learned a lot and she the tour in interesting way. The driver was nice and brought us to the places safely.
Many thanks for the great tour today. All went very well and please send our thanks and gratitude to both the driver Abad Azem and guide Sayed Amin. Both the driver and guide were professional and courteous. The guide Sayed is a wealth of knowledge and makes one feel at ease. Both members are an asset to your organization. Best wishes Russell and Norma Harrod.
today has been an incredible day. The guide has been fantastic, the best. He knows the story and explains it very well. it really was great
This tour was perfect. Our guide Sameer and Sayed made sure to take us to all places and share as much knowledge of the history with us. They were also very helpful with the infants in our group. Would 100% booking this.
We went to an incredible tour with Sayed Mahmoud (our tour guide). We saw all the churches and mosques available for tourists and learned many new things about the religious character of Cairo!
My tour guide was Mahmoud Anwar and he was the best. I have a love of history, religion and architecture. All that and more was given to me. Regretfully I left my phone in the room, so Mahmoud came to the rescue and allowed me to use his phone for pictures. He even took a few of me and that rarely happens. He knew his history and the different stories as well. Who knows what is true from 936AD. Always a smile and really excited to present the information. Our driver was a saint, weaving in and out of the crazy traffic in Cairo. He even noticed I finished my own bottle of water and had another cold one waiting in the car for me. Excellent driving and customer service skills. If you have a love of religion,Churches and mosques, this is the go to. Especially with Mahmoud Anwar. I will be back after my first dive trip and we will do that camping in the desert, I promise. Take care of that little baby boy and sweet wife. You are blessed my friend. Thank you Jen Fouts
First of all, the driver and car service was excellent. The guide was nice and she did her best to answer our questions. The problem came when we she wanted to cut the tour short by not going to the market. Finally we pushed to go and she accepted. Once we arrived she was pushing to leave from the begining and moreover siding with the vendors so we would overpay for whatever we wanted to buy in the market. Finally we felt forced to tip since she asked several times throughout the day. Overall, a good way to visit Cairo. Loads of stops and well organised. We got nice memories but we remember the day by the feeling of having to avoid being tricked all day long.
We saw Cairo’s famous mosques, Coptic churches, and one synagogue. Ruwana not only shared the history of the buildings but helped us better appreciate her culture, family life, and faith. We loved the entire experience. We spent most of the day with a new Egyptian friend.
A first class experience with a brilliant tour guide Essam - whose knowledge of the mosques, churches and synagogue was outstanding. As well as his extensive knowledge of Cairo his great sense of humour cans generosity. Would highly recommend this tour.
We went to the Islamic and Coptic area of Old Cairo. Our guide was Sayed Mahmoud, the same guide as on the Pyramids tour, so we felt safe. The mosques were in active use and were very well maintained. The Coptic Churchs were interesting because of their unique design, which is not often seen in Europe. Our driver, Ibrahim, was also friendly.
Most places we visited are worth the visit and were considerably hassle free. I wouldn't visit the Amr ibn Al-A'as Masjid Jama from the inside though; it's a modern building, quite bland in comparison to the older mosques and you'll be literally bullied by rude people to leave your shoes with them (they will make a fuss if you want to carry your shoes with you), cover most women, even dressed modestly, with a head to toe mantle that I'm not sure how often it's washed and it's quite warm, and on the way out, they will literally "demand tips" quite aggressively too. It'd be much more better to charge a visitors' fee and make the visitors feel welcomed. It supposed to be a holy, peaceful place but it's the only place we definitely didn't feel welcomed and also didn't think the place itself was worth the hassle. Also, the guide was lovely but she'd repeat herself quite a lot and go too slowly, which made the tour take like double the time it could have taken, and she wouldn't understand many of our questions (felt almost like she memorized the info about the places but didn't know enough English for a full conversation), so in the end it's quite tiring and a bit frustrating. However, they were organized with the itinerary, the car, the tickets and the lunch was in a very yummy restaurant.
Enjoyed seeing the beautiful mosques and more modest Christian churches and the synagogue. Our guide provided so much information we leaned much about the religious history of Cairo.
Excellent tour. Good tour guide. Clean and comfortable transportation. Everything went Emma and as we expected. Recommend without any reservations.
Tour was good and covered main aspects of Islamic & Coptic Cairo. Guide & driver arrived at hotel on time. Zainab, the guide, was quite knowledgeable on the subject matter. Overall I enjoyed the tour a lot, gave good insights of historic city.
We had a great time on this tour. The guide and driver were very helpful and knowledgeable. We highly recommend!
We had such a great time on our tour of the Pyramids that we booked a second tour of old Cairo. We were lucky to have Sayed Mahmoud as our guide and Ahmed Ali as our driver again. Sayed was very knowledgeable about the sites—and very helpful for navigating Egyptian vendors and services. Ahmed was professional and very helpful for getting around Cairo.
A very interesting and insightful day out. Our brilliant guide - Mohammed looked after us and was very knowledgeable
Wow what an amazing experience. In this tour you will get to see Muhammad Ali’s Mosque along with many more Mosques of the Arabic era of Egypt. Coptic and Christian sites are are also explored . All have great works of art and architecture. Id like to recommend Essam. My tour guide on such a great job . He was extremely knowledgeable about every aspect of Islamic Egypt as well as Christian sites in Egypt. He also provided an amazing lunch by the Nile River and later on a awesome Mango drink and Tea. Extremely kind and friendly guide as well. I learned so much while having a fun time.
Another great tour! Sayed Mahmoud is the best as he’s very knowledgeable and his interest in his culturally-rich city shows…highly recommend!
We took the tour without the guide - our driver Mohammad was great, very friendly and coordinated with us really well. Had a great day over all.
Had a great time on our day trip with Eco Tours with Mira as our guide. Very knowledgeable. Visit amazing mosques and Coptic churches in old Cairo. Marvelous day. Had traditional lunch in the "down town" of Cairo and even negotiated our way through local fruit and veg Friday market.
The whole day tour was memorable, beautiful Mosques and the Christian churches were a wonderful place to visit, to actually visit where Jesus, Mary and Joseph lived for a short time was truly amazing. I did this trip solo and felt very safe and well taken care of, my driver Esam did a good job manoeuvring the streets. My guide Hola was very knowledgeable and witty, really made the day enjoyable.
We booked the Islamic and Coptic Cairo tour. They picked us up from our hotel with a half hour delay. Our tour guide was a woman, very knowledgeable about the history of the mosques and things related to Islam. But when we move to Coptic Cairo I feel we left alone to see 2 churches and that's it. She didn't seems to be very interested. Although she was very polite and nice talking we sometimes had a hard time understanding what she was saying. The driver was a nice guy too.
This tour is usually not done by tourists- but I am very interested learning about different faith perspectives. Ahmed Refaat was a great guide, I learned a lot, He was nice and flexible.
It could be better with another guide. She hadn’t give us so many infos, it was very basic and it was better reading the tabloid in the city
Since the pick up at the hotel our driver and guide Ahmed Abdel Alim was really nice and a gentleman, we were four girls traveling alone and we were kind of afraid but he made us feel safe and everything was really fun. He opened for us the doors, waited patiently for us and gave us correct information in each place, took us pictures and gave us a really amazing tour in Cairo Egypt, he was just great thank you so much for this awesome experience !
I was anticipating a full day tour of Coptic and Islamic Cairo. When I met with the tour guide, the tour guide kept asking if I wanted to buy anything and I was being clear that I just wanted to follow the itinerary. I did ask if we can go to Islamic Art Museum and he quoted me a price that was different than what was on the website. The guide had rushed me through many of the spots we were seeing and when he did give me some time, he would disappear. As a result, the tour was completed in couple of hours and I felt like I couldn't fully appreciate this part of the city. Additionally, the guide's English wasn't as good so it was difficult to understand him and he kept assuming I knew some of the history that he was supposed to explain. This tour group was recommended by a friend who had used them and had a positive experience. Unfortunately, I didn't and sadly will not be able to recommend this particular activity. I did use this tour for day trip to Valley of the Whales (the guide kept mentioning that I should tip well which for me ruined the experience of the trip), Day trip to Aswan (I worked with salesperson Talayso who said, I can add any activity and still get back to Luxor by certain time and sadly, I had to skip half of the tour to be back in Luxor in time) and day trip to Alexandria (this tour was the best one so far).
Good sites however the guide was not knowledgeable enough. Tour included 3 Muslim and 2 Coptic sites and lasted 5 hrs.
Mr.Essam from Emo Tours is a fantastic guide. He not only is a great Egyptologist but also makes your day perfect with surprises and great food. Amazing guy. He guided us on this tour as well as the Museum and also the Pyramids tour. All of the tours were fabulous with nice stories and very good informative and step by step guidance. With him around you can just switch off your brain and relax as he takes you around and shows you everything that you came to see and much more.
Wonderful educational experience with a fantastic guide. I am so glad we chose to book this tour fir our first day in Egypt. It was a nice introduction to the Egyptian cultures and our guide Had very good English and was very courteous to my elderly parents that I was traveling with. I had never been to a Mosque before and loved learning more about the Islamic religion and getting the opportunity to go into a mosque and meet an Iman. We also had the chance to explore local churches and learn how Christianity was tied into the Egyptian history. The only negative part of the day was the lunch was at a buffet restaurant with a couple tour buses do it had lots of options but was loud and crowded with tourists. I would have preferred a local more personal dining experience since their was only 4 of us. Overall I would highly recc especially for the value.
Great experience for anyone who wants to see Old Cairo. My guide Hussein was excellent! He did a wonderful job explaining the history of everything and answered all my questions. He also took so many great pictures of me at the different sites, which I appreciated since I was a solo traveller. Highly recommend this tour for anyone interested in seeing the most beautiful mosques and churches in Cairo!
Hands down our best excursion in Cairo. I didn't think we'd get much out of this tour but I was wrong. Our guide Marwan was AWESOME! He was very thoughtful and knowledgeable. He allowed us to set the pace of the tour, provided detail on anything we asked about and generally just made the tour an enjoyable, relaxing day. Hassan was our driver and seemed to magically show up right when we needed him. We really appreciated not having to stand around waiting. One thing of note is that Marwan did not push us to any tourist traps like papyrus factories or other places designed to take your money. I asked about a few places to stop and were steered to places where locals seemed to go. There was none of that craziness with a place where 20 guides are waiting while tourists are being fleeced for cash. If you're looking for something interesting and think this isn't for you, think again. As for Marwan and you won't be disappointed. He's a true guide and so knowledgeable he should be a teacher.
A wonderful time with Khaled. He is a wealth of knowledge. Be ready to walk and talk. Seeing the changes in the religious history is fascinating.
Great knowledgable cheerful guide! Rely knows his stuff and able to discuss Egyptian life and Cairo generally as we travelled between sites. Lovely person just great!
