We had the most amazing day during our Coptic and Islamic Cairo tour! My friend and I traveled together and agree that it was one of the best days we had in Egypt all thanks to our driver Ahmed Abdalhalm and our tour guide Sayed Mahmoud. Ahmed and Sayed not only made us feel safe and comfortable, but also allowed us to have an extremely fun and informational day! We loved the tour, but especially loved the friends we made during it. We strongly recommend requesting Sayed and Ahmed, but remain envious of anyone who gets to meet and hangout with them in the future.

Al-Azhar Mosque romanized: al-Jāmiʿ al-ʾAzhar, lit. 'The Resplendent Congregational Mosque'), known simply in Egypt as al-Azhar, is an Egyptian mosque in Islamic Cairo. Al-Mu'izz li-Din Allah of the Fatimid dynasty commissioned its construction for the newly established capital city in 970. Its name is usually thought to derive from az-Zahrāʾ (meaning "the shining one"), a title given to Fatimah. It was the first mosque established in Cairo
The Mosque-Madrassa of Sultan Hassan is a monumental mosque and madrassa located in the historic district of Cairo, Egypt. It was built between 1356 and 1363 during the Bahri Mamluk period, commissioned by Sultan an-Nasir Hasan. The mosque was considered remarkable for its massive size and innovative architectural components, and is still considered one of the most impressive historic monuments in Cairo today
The Citadel of Cairo or Citadel of Saladin is a medieval Islamic-era fortification in Cairo, Egypt, built by Salah ad-Din (Saladin) and further developed by subsequent Egyptian rulers. It was the seat of government in Egypt and the residence of its rulers for nearly 700 years from the 13th to the 19th centuries. Its location on a promontory of the Mokattam hills near the center of Cairo commands a strategic position overlooking the city and dominating its skyline. At the time of its construction, it was among the most impressive and ambitious military fortification projects of its time.[1] It is now a preserved historic site, including mosques and museums.
The Mosque of Amr ibn al-As (Arabic: جامع عمرو بن العاص), also called the Mosque of Amr, was originally built in 641–642 AD, as the center of the newly founded capital of Egypt, Fustat. The original structure was the first mosque ever built in Egypt and the whole of Africa.[1] Through the twentieth century, it was the fourth largest mosque in the Islamic world.[2] The location for the mosque was the site of the tent of the commander of the Muslim army, general Amr ibn al-As. One corner of the mosque contains the tomb of his son, 'Abd Allah ibn 'Amr ibn al-'As. Due to extensive reconstruction over the centuries nothing of the original building remains, but the rebuilt Mosque is a prominent landmark and can be seen in what today is known as Old Cairo. It is an active mosque with a devout congregation, and when prayers are not taking place, it is also open to visitors and tourists.
Mohamed Ali Mosque that has been considered one of the most beautful mosque in Cairo it also know as the Alabaster Mosque because its outer walls has been Covered by Alabaster Stone
Then Followed by another big famous Mosque Which is Al-Rifa’i Mosque The building is located opposite the Mosque-Madrassa of Sultan Hassan, which dates from around 1361, and was architecturally conceived as a complement to the older structure. This was part of a vast campaign by the 19th century rulers of Egypt to both associate themselves with the perceived glory of earlier periods in Egypt‘s Islamic history and modernize the city.

Sayed Mahmoud and Ahmed Abdalhalm were the best tour guide and driver ever we had so much fun with them. We learned many Arabic phrases with them and learned about the history of the mosques and Coptic churches. Definitely would do again!!
My advice Step one Book it Step two Enjoy It was a great experience We visited all 5 mosques on my list Our guide Salua and driver were excellent We had an amazing experience with top notch service We couldn’t be happier with this experience Thank you!!
We had the pleasure of touring Cairo with Sayed Maemoud, and it was truly one of the highlights of our trip. He guided us through the Egyptian Museum and several historical mosques with such depth of knowledge and passion that we walked away feeling enriched and inspired. What made the experience even more special was the way he connected with my son- by the end of the day, they were like old friends. It’s not easy to find a guide who can balance historical expertise with genuine warmth, but Sayed did just that. We had a fantastic time and would absolutely recommend him to anyone wanting to experience the heart of Egypt through the eyes of someone who clearly loves and understands its history.
Very different experience to visiting everything to do with pyramids and ancient Egypt. A totally different era with just as much history to experience
I was really excited for this tour, our first time in Cairo. Unfortunately we didn't enjoy our guide. He seemed to be talking from a script instead of talking to us. It didn't appear that he was enjoying himself, rushing us at times and seemed forced to take photos. Almost like he was annoyed. We ended the tour early, only visiting 2 of the 6 mosques.
This was a great tour … guide ( sayed Mahmoud) was on time , spoke excellent English , very accommodating , and very knowledgeable about the sites , driver (Mahabad Taya) was very proffesional.. I highly recommend this tour .
Fantastic would really recommend stayed mahmoud the driver mohmmed atie was also brilliant as a solo lady felt very safe .
Sayed Mahamud was a helpful and informative guide. Very patient and made the experience enjoyable. We learnt a lot from the tour about the amazing history of the mosques and their significance throughout different periods.
Youssef was a wonderful tour guide. We loved all the temples that we visited along with two churches and a synagogue, because we had the time, and they were close by. Youssef was extremely knowledgeable and we learned a lot about the faiths, different from ours, and about the history of each of the places we visited. He even helped me find a couple of items on my shopping list. I highly recommend this tour!
This tour was fantastic, the guide was excellent and hand over a lot very interesting information about history of Egypt
What a wonderful morning I had touring the various mosques around Cairo. It was a truly beautiful, spiritual, and calming tour and I greatly appreciated the opportunity to tour inside and outside some of the mosques in downtown Cairo. My guide, Mahmoud Afifi, was simply terrific. he was prompt, courteous, and super knowledgeable. I learned a great deal about each mosque and Islam, too. Mahmoud even explained and demonstrated the rituals of prayer and history associated with the mosques, and it was quite beautiful. In addition, Mahmoud is a great photographer--and you can see how good he is from the photos attached to my review. I highly recommend this tour to anybody visiting Egypt for the first time to gain greater insight into the art, architecture, and Islam.
We had a great time on our trip. We learned Islamic history and saw amazing mosques. Ayman was our tour guide and he explained everything very well. Osama was our driver who took us to all these fantastic places. Thank you Ayman and Osama.
Essam was a great guide. Very knowledgeable and nice, I learned a lot of history today. Visited churches and mosques.
Took there pyramid and archeological site tour with Sayed Hamdy. He was a great guide and I really enjoyed all the spots we stopped. Would certainly recommend!
Yet again an awesome adventure thanks to the great service and lovely company of Ola & Ebrahim! Was picked up at the hotel in the airport, and from there a day of lovely weather grand pyramids and a spontanous quadbike ride! All in all a huge recomendation from me, to anyone visiting Cairo, that looks for adventure and history!
We had a fantastic day visiting Giza, Saqquara, Dahsur and Memphis. Our guide Essam and our driver Sayed went above and beyond to make our day a memorable one!! Essam is very knowledgeable about Egyptology and in combination with his studies in education he makes sure you really understand things :) loved the drawings on the sand and the way he explained the different eras with his hands I will never forget now!! Also he took the time to take tons of fun pictures from the best spots We learned so much about the pyramids and the old kingdom, we decided to enter both Keops and the Step Pyramid... being inside those old and giant structures was unbelievable! Sayed has the best driving skills you can forget about the hectic traffic outside and focus on the views... I took so many fun pics while we were stuck in traffic!!! I can only recommend this tour and Essam and Sayed!! Thank you guys!!
This was one of the best days ever :) My guide : Sait, was great. He understood from the beggining that I knew a lot of stuff and didnt overwhelmed me whith a lot of info or made it super intense, instead, he gave me what I needed, answering to all my questions and giving me lovely company all the way, asking me if I needed to rest, stoping in local restaurants for an early snack or even inviting me to a fresh sugar cane drink, he was just as attentive as I could wish. He also took some great pics of me in different locations and share my enthusiasm or just leave me on my own when I needed. Just perfect. If youre a solo traveler and hate the rush or show of regular tours, ill really recomend him, he is an arqueologist and also one of the most polite and chill persons I ever met. Love my day, thank you for all!!
Fantastic guide!! Wonderful excursion, breathtaking scenery and the best route. Thanks Abdul for being so kind.
One word: Essam. Without Essam, our guide, our day in Giza would have never been the same. We were amazed by how Essam handled everything! We felt VERY special because it seems like Essam knew everyone, and with that we got the VIP treatment. As far as knowledge, he was perfect and answered all our questions! He was very honest and he would tell you what you need to know when it comes to vendors/entrances, he is not pushy at all. He took lots of photos, but he gives you space and time if you need it. I couldn’t have imagined getting another tour guide. Highly recommend him! ——— Detailed Review - Full Day Giza Tour The day we arrived in Cairo, our airlines lost our luggages, had a really bad experience with a hotel in Cairo, wasted a day buying necessities, and on top of that, an Uber driver dropped us off in the middle of nowhere. That being said, we just really wanted a nice day for the tour. The morning of the tour, he was on time and even called us in our hotel room to let us know he’s there. When we told him that we didn’t have the time to eat breakfast (because we woke up late), we stopped by somewhere and he got us breakfast, snacks and even coffee/tea! Then he gave us time to eat before proceeding. He asked us if we were students (and we are) because he knew we got discounts. We then proceeded to the Giza Plateau to check the Pyramids of Giza, then Step Pyramid (the oldest pyramid), the Red, Black and Bent Pyramids and then the Memphis complex. The whole time, he took really good care of us and was very responsible with our tickets/student IDs. He also gave us little suprises that made the experience really special. At the end, we even told him we needed to go to the ATM, and he gladly took us there. When he found out that we needed to be at the airport after and won’t have time to eat, he got us various snacks! Also, shout out to the driver, Abrahim who also took good care of us. If you need his Whatsapp number, message me!
thank you! Adel for everything. Adel was knowledgeable, polite and very kind. He showed for us everything more than we expected. So he Exceeded Expectations.highly recommend. Thanks adel
I had a fantastic tour with Mahmoud! I was picked up promptly from my hotel in the morning and taken to Dahshur first, then Memphis, Saqqara and the Giza Pyramids. He explained the history of each place very clearly and answered any questions I had. Both him and the driver were very polite and looked after me very well. I had a great lunch and air con in the car which is a must in September!
He showed me around Memphis Saqqara Dahshur, which is difficult to access personally, at a reasonable price. At Giza Pyramids, you can ride a camel with constant chatter about Bottakuri for a reasonable $10 for 30 minutes. This is the most recommended tour of the pyramids.
We had an excellent tour. Our guide Abdul speaks Spanish and treated us very well throughout the tour. He and driver picked us up at the hotel and were walking us all day while telling us the story of the pyramids and the other places we visited. It really was a first-rate experience.
