Amazing Aquarium with an excellent variety of marine life. Tomb of the Pharoahs had a fantastic display and descriptions of exhibits. A great double during our holiday in Cairns.
Visit to Cains is incomplete without a visit to the aquarium. Close-ups are amazing and insightful. Egypt been in our list. The exhibition is very authentic and realistic. Lucky that we could find time to see both these wonders
The aquarium was brilliant. So much to look at. We spent over 2-1/2 hours there and didn’t even notice. Plenty of places to relax and enjoy the displays. Highly recommend this tour. We did a double booking with Tomb of the Pharaohs which was amazing. Spent about 1 1/2 hours there. We also lunched at the RSL on the waterfront between the two tours which was great value for money. Overall 10 out of 10
Just reviewing Tombs of the Pharaohs here. Have reviewed the Aquarium previously. If you had to choose between visiting these tombs in Egypt or in Cairns Australia, where you have the added bonuses of the world’s second most pristine area after Antarctica, the Great Barrier Reef, and the oldest rainforests in the world, plus these unbelievably perfect recreations of 11 burial chambers mostly of the pharaohs, including of the treasure trove found in Tutenkhamun’s tomb, plus giant replica statues of King Amonhotep III, Sekhmet or Merit Amun - you’d have the easiest choice ever. Cairns. In Egypt, if you can get in to see these you will be rushed through and kept distant from the artifacts. Here you get up so close you can touch many of them. This is really experience and enjoying the glories of Ancient Egypt.
Excellent replica and information about the tombs. Highly recommend. I spent 2 hours moving through the exhibit and felt I left very informed
The Pharoah Exhibition was well worth visiting. The way it was presented was great and it all flowed beautifully. The Cairns Aquarium was also an enjoyable experience. The layout flowed very well
The Tomb of the Pharaohs exhibition in Cairns was much better than I expected. Something of an immersion in tombs. It seems to have been created in that space. Walls and ceilings are fully painted as they would have been in tombs. The exhibits I think would be life-size, including ‘granite’ outer tombs. Well lit, well displayed with very good descriptions and notes. Dazzling. I bought a combo ticket and as good as the aquarium is, I was more thrilled with the tomb of the pharaohs exhibition. I was in the exhibition for about an hour and a half and could have spent twice that time there, but my friends were tired, having first been to the aquarium.
Had a wonderful walk through the exhibit, felt as though we were in Egypt walking through the rooms like was exploring the tombs etc. Loved all the artifact replicas and paper effect on the walls, music as well really made you feel you were there.. Don’t usually enjoy reading all the plaques in museums but these were great, well written & very interesting..I have always wanted to visit Egypt, this was a taste of it in Cairns! Had to get a souvenir at the shop to remember the experience by. Thank you, great job! (One thing could enhance, headphone option instead of guides, was distracting with other visitors loud talking as going through..!!)
Highly recommended. Absolutely amazing experience.
Went to the aquarium first and I must say not the best aquarium we have been to, but the 4 talks were very informative. We arrived at opening time so there was a queue with a ship in town, but entry was dealt with quickly, efficiently and a smile. Also, being first up lucky enough to see feeding time. However, the Tomb of the Pharoahs was amazing! You could spend a much time as you liked wandering from room to room. They have done a fantastic job replicating the tombs.
Originally from Cairns, I’d never even heard of this place until a friend mentioned it — and I’m so glad they did. Joined with my mate, The Tomb of the Pharaohs is a hidden gem and a great way to discover a little slice of Egyptian history while in Cairns. The staff are passionate, knowledgeable, and clearly love what they do. Highly recommended for locals, tourists, and school excursions alike.
Fantastic. Interesting. Unusual. Informative. Mythological. Educational. Royal. Artistic. Revealing. Epic. Questioning.
An absolute MUST SEE! Step inside the doors and into the World of the Pharaoh's. One of the most incredible exhibitions I’ve ever seen. One you would expect to see in the world’s grandest galleries! This is not just any recreation of artefacts and tombs it’s been meticulously researched and recreated with Egyptian artists and consultation with the Egyptian government. Do not Leave Cairns without visiting!!!
I discovered this by chance on the way to the aquarium, went in and was not disappointed. Items were well signed , a large collection. Many life-like sized coffins and mummies on display also statues and artifacts. If you are into Egyptian history you will thoroughly enjoy this.
The same building, just the corner as part of Cairns Aquarium, this exhibition is educational. The replication is fantasticly done. Allow about one more for the exhibition.
Absolutely fantastic. Well worth it. Husband who has been to Egypt says this exhibition is as close to the originals as you can get they are truly authentic would highly recommend for all ages, definitely will be returning.
