Good idea to book sunbeds and sunshade as there were a lot of people seeking shade. Snorkeling from the beach was best as the tide turned. Saw rays and turtles.

Green Island is a beautiful 6000 year old coral cay. It's the only coral cay on the Great Barrier Reef with a rainforest! You will have a choice of snorkel equipment to snorkel from the white sandy beaches or to stay dry and see the island's reef from the glass bottom boat. Enjoy a walk through the lush rainforest.

Perfect way to spend a day! While snorkelling we saw turtles, stingrays, sharks, beautiful reef and lots of fish!
I would strongly suggest to do research on what else is happening on the island before booking I personally would not go again being stuck on an island for 5 hours for a 20 minute glass bottom boat tour (was an awesome 20 minutes) was not worth what we paid.
Carry light rain jackets when going on the glass bottom boat. A positive we and an experienced guide.
Great half day trip to Green Island. Ferry runs to time and the complimentary tea/coffee and biscuits on board before we set off were a welcome addition. We opted for the glass bottomed boat on the island which is a really good way to see some lovely coral, a variety of colourful fish and a turtle or two. We chose the half day tour due to our own time constraints but it was plenty of time to do the glass bottomed boat, have lunch, walk the entire boardwalk and have a swim. We didn’t snorkel so I can’t comment on that, but we did see fish and turtles from the jetty, so it looked like there could be plenty to see if you’ve got time for that.
It was an amazing experience, and the weather was pleasant. The crew members took excellent care of us. The underwater views and marine life were beautiful, although I expected to see more, based on the photos and videos I had seen beforehand. Unfortunately, it seems that the coral reefs have suffered significant damage, which was disappointing to learn.
This has been one of the first and best experiences for my partner. He’s never been snorkeling and has never had the chance til now. And it was wonderful and his expression said it all. It was an easy booking and pretty up straight with directions and schedule. Staff on the boat are amazing and Green island is beautiful!!
Green Island was beautiful, but the boat was disappointing. The boat travelled too fast and the ride was very rough, making it difficult to enjoy the reef views. A slower, smoother ride would have made the experience much better. Tha glass bottom was ok but not the best.
It is a 30 minutes boat ride. Good experience. It is worth once. A great way of seeing underwater life without getting wet. We
make sure to bring sunscreen!! otherwise it was an awesome experience. I did it solo and still had a great time
Recently, we visited Green Island with the Quicksilver Group and to be completely honest, we missed our ferry because we were late. I completely accept that it was our fault. However, when we approached the counter, the experience was a little disappointing. The lady assisting us was quite rude and seemed very restricted in offering any help or alternative options. I completely understand that we were at fault, but a little compassion and understanding would have made a huge difference — especially as we were a group of 8, including 5 adults, children and 2 infants But then… our **superhero, legend and absolute lifesaver Brett! 🦸♂️❤️came to our rescue! Brett went above and beyond and arranged for us to travel with another operator so we could still enjoy the attractions we had pre-booked. His kindness, understanding and genuine willingness to help completely turned our day around. And what an incredible day it became! 😍 I honestly believe everyone should visit Green Island at least once in their lifetime. It is absolutely beautiful, and the hospitality from the team was amazing. A huge thank you to each and every staff member who works so hard behind the scenes to create such beautiful experiences and memories for families like ours. And a very special thank you to Brett. Your customer service deserves special recognition. You didn’t just help us with a difficult situation you completely changed the experience for our family and turned what started as a stressful morning into one of the best memories of our trip. ❤️ Thank you, Brett! You are an absolute legend! ⭐️ We will definitely be back again!
Tour description on Viator online acct didn’t clearly say it was only a 30minute ride in the glass bottom boat!!!! Saw very little therefore!
Beautiful island and opportunity to see turtles and other marine life snorkeling in the crystal clear waters.
Excellent service great fun and lots of things to do would recommend to everyone. Easy to book very affordable the staff were fantastic have booked more experiences with them.
Awesome experience got the combination of exploring the underwater world and rainforest exploration.recommend bring your own snorkel gear and choose the bottom glass boat experience on the ticket. Worth to stay in the island for whole day!
Staff at ferry terminal and on the vessel were very friendly and helpful however the experience itself was disappointing and not worth the money. I wish I paid the extra for a day trip to the barrier reef and not to green island. Snorkelling equipment poor and no coral to be seen! Told its only "sea grass". Green Island run down and in need of serious refurbishment
While we visited on a wet windy day, we were still able to enjoy our glass bottom boat trip and island walks.
Boat was comfortable Crew very attentive We did the glass bottom boat due to the wind What a fun ride
It was a lousy day weather wise but we still had a great time. Lovely to walk around the island and the glass bottom boat did not disappoint......I have wanted to do this since I was a child. We did not visit the crocodile exhibit as we felt the cost was extreme.
This was a self guided tour. You got a ride to green island and self guided snorkeling. The tour included the trip to and from the island and snorkeling gear.
Appalling miscommunication of boat's arrival back into Cairns caused us to pull out of trip. Refund process is dismissive
This was a nice experience, not outstanding. It is very family-friendly, low key, with a range of available activities. The glass-bottom boat ride was about 15 minutes and there wasn't a lot to see in the green, mostly murky water (we also had poor weather). Technically, I was able to snorkel in The Heat Barrier Reef, but only in very shallow, restricted waters near Green Island. There were some colorful tropical fish and one awesome sea turtle, but not much in the way of the beautiful bright coral associated with the reef.
The trip was more then expected, time to do as we choose, snorkeling was clear and there are turtles and sharks in the area, lots of fish and blue starfish.
Great experiemce.. only the Emerald restaurant on Green Island the staff were rude and terrible with service. We actually wanted to hangback and have a few drinks but the person there said that they needed the table for paying guests. We ordered meals for the family so unsure why they wanted us out.
We had a fantastic day trip to Green Island. The boat ride took around 40 minutes, and once we arrived we grabbed our snorkel gear and hired a couple of beach chairs before heading into the water. We also hired a GoPro to video our in and out water experience. The snorkeling was excellent—we were lucky enough to see a turtle, and the marine life was abundant both in and out of the water. While the coral wasn’t the best we’ve seen, the wildlife more than made up for it. The island is small but has all the facilities you need for a relaxing day. We travelled with our kids (aged 10 and 11), and they had just an amazing time. We’d definitely come back and would happily recommend it to other families.
Seeing the coral and fish from the glass bottom boat was great. Green Island is not much of a place. The food outlets are a bit grungy. So we were glad to finally make the return journey back to Cairns. I would not do this again.
Note that you have to go to the tour office to get the actual tickets ahead of the boat time. The boat was fast and comfortable. The staff was very friendly. Green island was great and had super snorkeling. There are restaurants and food options available. They had public shower area to rinse off. Bathrooms on island.
Easy flat walking tracks great day out boat ride was good glass bottom.boat was just amazing something you must do
I chose to go on the flat bottom boat. It lasted only half an hour and the rest of the time I spent walking on the forest boardwalk. I think the tour is better value for those who snorkel.
Great way to see the Great Barrier Reef underwater life and Green Island. Good mix of guided and self-guided options available.
Very easy check in at Cairns terminal. Boat ride and crew was great, even getting a cuppa on board before departure. We had the glass bottom boat included in our ticket which I highly recommend and then we paid to hire a snorkel and goggles to see some of the reef ourself, another activity I highly recommend . Lots of food variety on the island for lunch and showers and toilets . We did the 6 hour, which we found was plenty for us, but would be easy to chill on the island all day . Loved it .
Very unhappy as my son had to wee in his pants after asking for 15 - 20 minutes to have a wee out the back as we were drifting along. No apologies or anything from the guide only simpethy from other members on the tour.
The tour operator decided to add surcharge of $4AUD due to rising gas when I booked the tour 3 months ago. All other tours decided not to add surcharge as it's part of doing business. It is especially true when the cruise has capacity of 300+ so it's easier to hedge costs. When the gas prices come down it's not like they will refund $4 instead
Good operators, friendly knowledgeable staff. Easy check in, we stayed for 3 hours on island, was enough time for us. Had a snorkel, and a glass bottom boat ride. Had to pay extra to do both, but I was aware of that.
Very good experience for all the families well recommend good service and friendly staff good looking staff
The island is beautiful. They suggested we pay extra when we got there to do a snorkelling tour, they knew the best spots but we didn't want to pay more after paying 127 each. On the day we paid for the reef walking tour 205 each and just after we paid they said it was booked up and would like several days for 410 refund. Frustrating as well even if you have bought tickets prior to the day you still have to line up to get more tickets at 7.45 and due to board at 8.30.
Professional, but a whole lot of fun. Staff knew exactly what to do, lunch was great and locations perfect.
A wonderful day within the reef, but lots of resort amenaties availiable, nature, water, sunshine and ice cream.
Instructions on where to go at the island where not clear and everything to purchase was to overpriced
Experience was good enough, boat ride out and the crew were friendly and helpful. However once you get there its a continued money driven enterprise instead of giving tourists an experience they already paid good dollars for, for example we went to one of the beaches and sat down on some vacated sun lounge chairs only to be told they cost $60 for the day to rent (rip off and should be free out of courtesy) and then the crocodile and aquarium section again costs to enter (haven't we already paid to travel there) once we replied to the lady we weren't going to pay to enter she cut us off and continued on with her head in her book, I found the staff on green island to be rude and not personable. My advice is take a packed lunch and find a nice nook in the shade on the beach to get your monies worth. Glass bottom boat however short it was it still was a good experience, this part was worth it!
Nice quiet island to relax. We did the Glass bottom boat. Sae lots of fish and coral. Rented two chairs and umbrella on the beach and enjoyed the water.
Enjoyed the experience as it was a very nice day. Green Island was beautiful and enjoyed walking around the island and taking pictures. The glass bottom boat ride was so-so. There was too much glare trying to take pictures through the glass. It was fun seeing the fish and coral.
Unfortunely it rained but staff could have let us board earlier..we all got drenched before & after..
Great way for an intro into viewing the Great Barrier Reef(GBR)! Tour cruiser was on time and met all expectations of excursions. Green Island provided all facilities (toilets, showers, changing rooms, dive shop, restaurant) even though it was a small island I am a novice at snorkeling and was too anxious about going out to deeper eaters of GBR. Snorkeling off the beach better suited me. Although the coral reef I saw while snorkeling was not so overly abundant, it was still plenty coral with sea creatures for me. Seeing the GBR on the glass bottom boats was very satisfying for me. A great way to go out to deeper waters & see so much more of the reef and abundant fish
I booked the tour in advance, and I was satisfied with snorkelling although my wife was not that impressed with the glass bottom boat tour. We spent some great time on the secluded beaches of the island and the serenity of the rain forest. It was time well spent, but if you want to see more from the reef you must book some other tour that goes further into it.
Great experience. The ferries were punctual out to Green Island and the staff courteous and helpful. The Glass Bottom Boat tour guide was very informative.
John was a great guide. Long day full of interesting sites and information. Beautiful scenic drive and lunch was excellent.
Everything was smooth, the staff were friendly and knowledgeable, and the places were stunning. I would definitely come back!
The glass bottom boat was great as well as the operator named Ashley. She had so much information to share. We saw amazing coral, sea turtles, fish etc. Super glad we did not choose snorkeling as area where you go isn't that big and others were heard to say "we have met seen anything". Plus this time of year jellyfish are around. What we didn't care for was time spent on Green Island. Felt it was too long, a few short trails, a few fast food type places. Just killing time really. Shorter duration there would have been better. Good value for the price. Our trip was 4 hrs from start to finish. We could not go longer as we were on a cruiseship and didn't have the time available. Overall a great experience and would highly recommend if you have limited time.
Beautiful island, if you don’t snorkel though there not much to do. Glass bottom boat is good. Food sold on the island is basic. Not all menu”s are written in other languages with pictures. Overall relaxing day.
