What can you say about the Rainforest Nature Park when there are more shops than butterflies? If you want to see the rainforest, go a little further north and discover the incredible Daintree Rainforest. I enjoyed the historic Train to Kuranda and the skyrail overlooking the rainforest. Without asking our consent, you are photographed (for example, at the exit of the skyrail and on the boat, as I noticed) for commercial purposes: to sell you your photos! For me, this is unacceptable. There are always shops for every activity, but here, the number is unbelievable at every turn. You can get a photo with a koala or a reptile by paying!! I don't understand how a country can tolerates the use of "wild" animals, or should they be considered domestic animals? Furthermore, the koalas are not native; they don't live in the rainforests. This activity is a supermarket and a cash cow. I regret going there.
Honestly I’m saddened by the treatment of animals here! There was a huge crocodile in a very small enclosure and his mouth was being wedged open by a keeper with a stick to show the tourists its teeth (this is a living creature not a toy for entertainment). The koalas have near to no space on a concrete floor with a few tiny trees. And the poor dingo all on her own in a tiny space. In you have a love for animals please do not go here. I understand the park follows the Queensland regulations on animal welfare however these regulations are not good enough. I have been to many zoos and sanctuary’s that value their animals. This place does not seem to at all. DO NOT GO
Explore the Australian rainforest by riding in an army duck boat driving through the densely wooded forest and then taking to the river and lake in the same vehicle. Your guide will tell you about the rainforest in and its flora and fauna. You also see a Pamagirri aboriginal dance performance with dancers in aboriginal dress accompanied by a man playing the diggery doo. They’ll show a spear throwing demonstration and a boomerang demonstration followed by you taking a turn at throwing a boomerang yourself. There is also a nature parks with koalas, dingos and cassowary birds. Lots of fun and loaded with info.
A lovely relaxed day out seeing animals in their habitat and a really good aboriginal experience. Staff were lovely.
We loved the up close and personnel way you could view the animals! Loved the aboriginal dancing and info on the duck boat.
Shocking We paid for tix online Tix did not come through Couldn't get in Spoilt our 30th wedding anniversary trip Would like a refund We travelled from Melbourne
Visited on a tour via Tropic Wings. The animal park distressed me. A koala with her joey crossed her arms and bowed her head to protect it when she heard people coming. Photos holding koalas and other animals. If you research its been shown that it distresses the animals and some places have banned it!! The rest of the animals looked unhappy at best. Duck Tour which is why i chose to come here is very poor. A short land track and a ride around a small lake. No animals just plants. Very dated Tourist Attraction, different from the other tours Ive been on in Oz, where its about nature and natural environments for the animals . Coaches full of tourists turning up. This park is totally unnecessary. Its just a money making tourist effort with no real consideration for nature and animals. Couldnt wait to leave and regret going. Left with sad images in my head not what I want from a day trip.
Thank you to Miranda for the help checking in and for helping us get the transfer sorted out as I only paid for one some how 😅 thank you Jerome for your extra time and knowledge and yarns while letting us have a little extra special time 🤫 absolutely amazing experience.. also Harry the bus driver was really nice and helpful and T was our transfer driver and she was so happy and energetic and helpful. Thank you all. It would be nice if it wasn't so hard to get to or find out information about though. The Kuranda info centre couldn't help with any information which kinda sucked but eventually we made it and it was so worth it. Please advertise yourselves more better! People come to carins to see REAL Australian culture and so many other tourists are asking why it's hard to access and "where are all the real Australians"..
Cute half day tour to see some animals native to Australia, Duck Tour, and photo opportunities. In the nature park was able to interact directly with some of the animals.
This is a small, somewhat contrived nature park. We had the unfortunate experience of being there the same day as a cruise ship was in port at Cairns so it was packed with busloads of tourists. Any feeling of being in a nature park was pretty much erased by waiting in line or being among crowds of tourists. The duck boat tour is very short -- probably about 1km of actual travel -- covered over the course of about 45 minutes. That means a lot of stopping and talking about plants and maybe you'll get lucky to see one bit of wildlife. The portion of the tour in the water is very short -- maybe 10 minutes -- and it's in a man-made lake. There was a duck boat behind us and one in front of us so it didn't feel very private or natural. Lunch was included in our tour -- buffet style -- it was OK, not great. Steak (tough), sausage, potatoes, and some steamed vegetables. That's fine -- we didn't expect to come here for fine dining. The wildlife area (fenced in) allows the kangaroo and wallaby to wander freely and that means that the tourists swarm around and hug and take thousands of selfies with kangaroos. Also not very natural. When we got to the aboriginal presentation, there were 200 or 300 people sitting in the bleachers. We were getting tired and it was warm so we decided to skip that and just find a quiet place to kill time until our bus arrived. Same with the spear throwing boomerang throwing presentations. All in all, this felt more like a zoo than a nature park and if you're reasonably fit and able, there are other ways to see Australian wildlife with a bit more effort and time expenditure in their natural habitat. I would not recommend visiting.
Very mixed reactions to this tour. Their website is very unclear on what activities are included in which package. If you do a multi activity package, you do not get to pick your own itinerary, it is given to you upon arrival. We did the Big Nature package which started at 11. It was quite rushed to arrive on the Scenic Railway at 10:25, and then to catch the shuttle at 10:45 at the Butterfly Sanctuary (10 min walk away). The Wildlife Park was great and had lots of interesting animals. The Army Duck tour was very fun to learn about the local plants and animals. We saw a WILD cassowary near the cafe - though that was a very rare occurrence (staff handled it well to keep guests safe - they are a very dangerous bird). My issue is with the Pamagirri Aboriginal Experience including the Dreamtime Walk and Dance Performance. As an archaeologist, I was very excited to learn more about Aboriginal culture. However, after experiencing it, I felt it was disrespectful at best and cultural appropriation at worst. While experiencing the activities, I felt that something was off. The activities (didgeridoo performance, boomerang throwing, and spear throwing) were fun to see / do, but the cultural meaning behind these activities was not explained. This unease increased with the dance performance - the dancers looked humiliated and uncomfortable. It felt like the Indigenous staff were forced to demonstrate culturally important / sacred activities as entertainment for tourists. After taking the illi-Langi The Rocks Aboriginal Dreaming Tour in Sydney (would DEFINITELY recommend) afterwards, my feelings were solidified. After learning about the cultural importance of the terms "Dreamtime" and "Walk-About" it was clear that using these terms for the Rainforestation's activities was highly disrespectful. On the Sydney Tour, I also learnt that boomerang throwing is traditionally meant to be a man's activity - I felt bad for appropriating that in an Indigenous context. You are better off with other cultural activities, such as purchasing Indigenous made souvenirs.
If you want to hold a Koala or pet a Roo, see a Dingo or a Croc this is the place to go. A lot to see and do, make sure you allow plenty of time.
We had a brilliant day up at the Rainforestation In Kuranda. The Army Duck tour of the Wet Tropics Rainforest was amazing! The guide was sooo knowledgable and we learnt so much. The park was lovely and we actually met some kangaroos! The Indigenous Aboriginal experience was very informative. We loved the lunch buffet and it was very reasonably priced for the amount of food you get, as much steak as you can eat for only £13!!! Loved it all 😍
The army Duck tour gave some good information about the rainforest, but it was a very small lake and it was mostly plants and trees we saw and heard about. It was not worth the money. The wildlife park is very small and we think the animals had too little space. We really looked forward to the Pamagirri experience-but we were very disappointed . The dance show looked like they did not enjoyed it and was just a little dance without any telling of the stories and traditions behind. It was fun to try to throw a boomerang but we only had one try each. It was also good to hear them play the didgeridoo. But very tourist setup with very little learning about the culture. Maybe the walkabout tour with have been better. I think so. But we got no information about the options and differences on the different tours. I bought the big package for 164 Aud. The mainly reason we did the tour was for the aboriginal experience and it was not worth it. I would rather have chosen to do aboriginal experiences in Daintree rainforest walkaboutadventure, or at Mossman Gorge.
Very well run park. We spent half a day doing the duck tour, seeing the animals, having a photo session with a koala, and learning about the traditional culture. Loved trying my hand at the boomerang! All staff were very friendly and knowledgeable
no issues with the staff or anything like that. the duck tour was interesting but it felt short. the wildlife encounter (if you do not go during a specific activity) is meh. my kids were happy to see the native animals which was all i was hoping for. that croc is huge!
We had a day tour arranged by Tropic Wings which included a visit here. The organisation by tropic wings was poor and very rushed- we spent most of the day waiting for buses and feeling stressed that we would get to where we needed to be on time. At Rainforestation all the staff were friendly and welcoming. Duck ride was physically painful and rather spoiled by the constant jokey narrative by the driver. I get he was trying to make a dull tour more enjoyable but it didn’t work. We were warned about all the creatures we may spot but we saw nothing! Lunch was basic/limited choice but adequate for the money. The Aboriginal Experience was informative, engaging and great fun! The wildlife park was just sad…….very small enclosures and no one supervising. Some visitors seemed to be treating the kangaroos as toys- the kangaroos were not objecting but looked “resigned” to it. With one exception there was no history of why the animal was there- unable to survive in the wild, injured???? Came away feeing sorry for them. Overall, a money making tourist trap rather than educational/conservation.
Our Guide Phil was very knowledgeable and humerus. It was very interesting to learn about the flora/fauna. Upon our return he pointed out a Golden Globe weaving spider. The aboriginal dancers were great and the boomerang throwing was quite fun. Most of the animals were sleeping so I would suggest going early in the day. Overall it was an enjoyable experience definitely worth the $.
What great fun to ride an army duck through a rainforest. We were pleasantly surprised by the very informative talk from our driver. We learnt many surprising things along the ride. The prices are very reasonable for such a unique experience. Highly recommend!!
What an amazing place. Great BBQ lunch on arrival as part of our tour plan with Tropic Wings. So many things to look at during the Army Duck Forest tour with Chris and his front row co helpers Heidi and Darci. Really loved this tour and learned so much. The Pamagirri Dance Show and Dreamtime walk a must see. So magical. The wildlife enclosure was well worth visiting too.
We loved every minute of it! From the aboriginal gentlemen who educated us about some of their culture to the staff, everyone was gracious and made sure we had a memorable experience. The zoo part was a little smaller than what we expected. HOWEVER, it was perfect. We met lots of "local" animals and thoroughly enjoyed it. My kids loved learning how to throw a boomerang and we loved learning about the aboriginal language. Koala apparently means "no drink" because they get their moisture by eating eucalyptus leaves :-). And a particularly big THANK YOU to Connor who showed us around on the koala experience. He and his partner were just INCREDIBLE and we learned so much from them. We can't thank you both enough. Finally, the BBQ lunch (we paid for in advance) was very good. Lots of choices--chicken, ham, etc, lots of fresh fruit, soups, and some veggies... It was VERY good :-). Thanks for an awesome day and some great memories!!!
Must see! This was the final experience of our Australian trip and it was so worth it! You can actually interact with the kangaroos and get your photo with koalas. The indigenous experience was, again, very hands on. "Running water" was our favorite. He is very intelligent and committed to preserving his culture. My son and I enjoyed our conversation with him. We will definitely visit again when we are in Cairns. 🤩
Weren't able to do the aboriginal experience due to factors out of the park's control, but the rest of the experience was so cool and fun. The wildlife park was super informative and the animals were so cool. The army duck tour was also really fun, and the tour guide was super knowledgeable, funny, and engaging. The park's reps were also super helpful and gave us free shuttle bus tickets to and from kuranda to make up for the cancelled aboriginal experience which ended up being great value. Keen to return in the future to experience again with the aboriginal experience.
We have been to Kuranda Nature Park Twice, the first time we found it by accident, the second time it was an intentional visit, each time we went it was a full day experience, we had our pictures taken with the Koala bears each time, such a wonderful experience to be able to hold them in your arms. 100% recommended to everybody, a lifetime thrill. recommended for little kids and a Special treat for the Big Kids.
The aboriginal dance and dreamtime show was really enjoyable The army duck ride was good but I had trouble seeing a lot that was pointed out
I am writing to you about the terrible experience in Kuranda Rainforest Nature Park #622340, so I explain the reason to request the refund of the payment. 1 . The time was too short and I had to move rushing without enjoy that beautiful place. 2. At the Rainforest Nature Park I presented the ticket at redemption point, the lady asked me about the price, I showed the transaction ($314although she wrote $312) she took her time to decide what she had to do. Then she said that the activity at 1:00 was fully book an she added that we could come back other day to do it! Then she took one ticket off the four activities. 3. We waited for to do Army Duck, when we realised that at 1:45 we had to be at the terminal Kuranda skyrail, so we asked a lady in the office about it, she called there, they told her that we had to got back to the terminal or we lost the tickets. Fortunately a bus arrived, then we took the Skyrail. We did not enjoyed and relax We felt l really frustrated and disappointed with the Rainforest Nature Park experience in Kuranda. For this reason I would like you take into account my request to refund . I appreciate you attention. don't hesitate if you have more information about it by e mail , please gaviotajimenez@hotmail.com or yerm23@hotmail.com kind regards Yeid Rivera
Great value experience consisting of a wildlife park ticket, an indigenous experience and a ride in an authentic army duck through the rainforest and in a jungle lagoon. The wildlife park featured crocodiles, koalas, wombats, and lots of kangaroos and wallabies wandering around the park. We saw an indigenous dancer presentation, had a crack and throwing a boomerang (and they come back!) and watched spear throwing using a Woomera. A great value experience for the whole family. Took about 3 hours from start to finish - worth a visit
What a great half-day adventure! This combine four interesting visits into a smooth-flowing morning. The gall who walked us through the animal displays was knowledgeable and passionate. The men who demonstrated spear throwing, didgeridoo playing, and native dancing were amazing. The instructions given for boomerang throwing were positive and fun. The whole morning was super!
Okay, so this was our least favorite day of our whole Australia trip. Maybe it was just an off day, but this Nature Park was not enjoyable. The employees were not friendly, not even Mark, our guide teaching us how to throw boomerangs. All of the employees seemed like they were just forced to be there and hated their jobs. The animals were awesome, but all animals are. The duck boat ride was just okay. I expected to see animals and there were absolutely none. Just a ride through a tourist attraction. There weren't many people in the park, so maybe that's why no one cared that day. Definitely regret going
My daughter enjoyed feeding and touching the animals in the park. The staffs are very knowledgeable about the animals as wells as the different type trees in rainforest. The butterfly world is also amazing.
We had so much fun! Feeding kangaroos and petting the kuala (an extra $15) was the highlight of our experience. The staff was friendly and the duck ride was a lot of fun too.
You get to hold and pet animals native to Australia! If you love animals and enjoy interacting with animals, this is an experience you don't want to miss.

Best day ever, great train ride, wonderful Skyride. Kuranda was great, went on Army Duck tour which was super experience. The Aboriginal and wildlife center great.Lovely shops and market and places to Eat. Leave yourself around 4- 5 hours for whole day so not rushing. Definatly recommend and would do trip again.

The pass includes everything you'd want to see. The park is great, they'll set up your schedule to make sure you see everything within your own schedule. The one thing they don't tell you is that there is a shuttle that takes you from Kuranda to the park which is about 12pp round trip that you have to pay. So make sure to consider the additional price when buying this deal.

Compact rainforest. Aboriginal experience was fab- dancing, didgeridoos, boomerangs and spear throwing! Army DUKW tour with very knowledgeable guide. I CUDDLED A KOALA (which you can only do in Queensland as they are not endangered there). Saw a huge croc and petted a kangaroo. Brilliant day out :).

This place was the cheapest place we went to in cairns and it was the best. Excellent value for money.the staff were careing and helpful.

I booked my train ride to/ from Kuranda on-line, outside this package. The train ride from Cairns to Kuranda is awesome. Struggled with information on how to get from the Kuranda Train Station to the Kuranda Rainforestation which is outside/ bus ride from the little town of Kuranda. Information showed be added in the details of this package to help consumers understand that they have to take a bus from the train station to the town and another bus from the town to the Kuranda Rainforest. We lost some of the time we needed to enjoy this full package by trying to understand how to get to the Rainforest destination.

Beautiful scenery and a great opportunity for photos!

Excellent park to visit with lots of variety and things to do.

Never made it due to conflict with Expedia and Hotel Issues.

The park was smaller than we'd anticipated, but we still enjoyed it.

A tourist experience that allows you, however, to enter the rainforest safely (aboard a World War II vehicle), to admire typical and prehistoric animals in the wild park, and to attend typical indigenous shows. It doesn't happen every day to try a boomerang or to attend a spear hunting demonstration, to hear the sound of Aboriginal instruments and their dances. Therefore it is recommended
We booked a day package that included a visit to the Rainforestation Nature Park. Unfortunately, the park was far too touristy for our taste. However, I was really shocked by the animal husbandry. A female dingo was sitting alone in an enclosure that was, in my opinion, far too small. The koalas were also kept individually; their enclosures seemed cold and not very natural. The tree kangaroo was also housed alone. I found the female wombat particularly sad, as she ran the same circle in the enclosure incessantly and had no way to retreat from the visitors. If that is supposed to count as animal-friendly keeping, I am deeply disappointed. I will definitely not visit this facility again and cannot recommend it either, as I neither can nor want to support such a way of keeping animals.
Possiblidade de ver de perto a fauna australiana, incluindo crocodilos, coalas, dingos, cangurus e wallabies.
We did the army duck tour, nice experience to ride with a duck once, the ride is short but the guide stops every now and then to explain you a bit about the history of the rainforest and the species of plants and trees. also how dangerous some plants are. very interesting. there is much more to do in kuranda itself, definitely worth a visit.
What a beautiful day that was, by train to Kuranda through overwhelming nature! This is really something you should do when staying in Cairns eo. So much to see and experience. Kuranda is a very beautiful village in the mountains, especially if you know how it came to be. The goldrush! Beautiful shops of course but also Koala, birds and special blue butterflies senctuaries is a must see. I loved the beautiful Mood around it and I enjoyed it! I thought June was a nice month for this because then it is nice and warm but that huge humidity is not there, because then it is winter time, and then it is very nice because you can do everything without being stuffy.
