This was a great day. We did enjoy the train a lot and then the small town of kuranda was very quaint and touristy. Then the rainforestation was excellent with the duck boats and all the other activities. Lunch was great and overall a great experience. My only complaint is that we couldn't get into the butterfly sanctuary and nobody could confirm that our ticket was good for the butterfly sanctuary so we didn't get to see that and the skyrail which said was included wasn't.

Itinerary
Glide above the canopy of the World Heritage-listed Wet Tropics Rainforest on the Skyrail Rainforest Cableway. The journey offers spectacular views over lush rainforest, deep gorges and cascading waterfalls, with stops at Red Peak and Barron Falls stations where visitors can explore elevated boardwalks and viewing platforms. Skyrail provides a unique perspective of one of the world’s oldest surviving rainforests. During the Skyrail upgrade period ( August to October 2026), guests will enjoy a scenic return journey between Skyrail Kuranda Terminal and Barron Falls via the Skyrail Loop, ensuring they can still experience the beauty of this remarkable rainforest environment.
Nestled within the World Heritage-listed rainforest, Kuranda Village is renowned for its relaxed atmosphere, colourful markets, boutique shops, cafés and galleries. Often referred to as the "Village in the Rainforest", it provides visitors with free time to explore local arts and crafts, sample regional produce and soak up the charm of this unique mountain town.
Discover the magic of the Southern Hemisphere’s largest butterfly flight aviary at the Australian Butterfly Sanctuary. Home to thousands of free-flying tropical butterflies, including the vibrant Cairns Birdwing species, the sanctuary offers visitors the opportunity to observe these remarkable creatures up close in a lush rainforest setting. Educational displays and breeding laboratories provide fascinating insights into the butterfly lifecycle.
Travel through the World Heritage-listed rainforest aboard an authentic Army Duck, immerse yourself in Indigenous culture at the Pamagirri Aboriginal Experience, encounter iconic Australian wildlife including koalas and kangaroos at the Koala & Wildlife Park, and enjoy a delicious Aussie BBQ Lunch surrounded by tropical rainforest.
