Great experience from start to finish. We loved the train and trying to interact with kangaroos and koalas. The boomerang throwing demonstration was also a lot of fun.
A good experience overall. Taking the train up in the morning is seems like the better way to do it because it doesn’t have AC. The waterfalls are impressive. At the top the trip said you only had time for one of 3 places to visit: kangaroos, koalas and other animals; birds: or butterflies. I did all 3 with time to spare. I chose the kangaroo and koala enclosure thinking it would be the most interesting but they were actually tired and boring. The birds and butterflies were more interesting, and though I had to pay for them, there was at least a 10% discount.
Good value for a day trip that included a lot of different experiences.
It was a full day of adventures! Enjoyed it all.The only downside was that we were the only couple without a window seat on the train. Most disappointing. So if I were to book again, I would definitely make that request.
Very easy to follow itinerary for the colour coded wrist bands with some flexibility. A very good day out. Loved the Duk experience with it's hilarious commentary and pleased there was a short time on Skyrail. The train ride was good and time for wildlife and butterflies was great. Lunch was well run so no problems and shuttle from Rainforest to Kuranda Village was easy as was the transfer coach back to accommodation. Thank you.
Everything was planned out and easy to access. There was enough time to do all the various activities.
I want to share my experience for this very poorly organised tour. - Morning Delay: The driver arrived over 30-40 minutes late for the initial pickup. - Lack of Coordination: Upon arrival at Rainforestation Nature Park, we were left without guidance or coordination for the planned activities. - Unclear Instructions: At the next destination, we received no clear details regarding activity timings or locations—only the return bus departure time. We were simply dropped off near the Australian Butterfly Sanctuary and given tickets for the Skyrail Rainforest Cableway. - Missed Attractions: Because of the lack of structure and direction, both the Australian Butterfly Sanctuary and the Koala & Wildlife Park were closed by the time I returned from the Skyrail, causing me to miss them entirely. - Return Trip: We were called at pick up location 30-45 minutes before the return bus arrived to bring us back to the city. Given how much of the experience was missed due to poor organisation,I will suggest to avoid this hyped tour.
Great day to see lots of beautiful scenery in Kuranda. It was a delight to travel on the train through the mountains, take the skyway gondola over the rain forest, then walk to see the falls. Lots of cute shops in Kuranda village. Definitely take this combo tour!
With part of the train being down for service, it was a bit hectic to know where to meet. We were never told what our wristbands were for and what we needed separate tickets for. Once we figured those out, the tour itself was nice. Brings to to see a lot of different aspects of this area
This was a fantastic trip and so much to see. The train ride was amazing and we really enjoyed the visit to the butterflys and the cultural experience.
Great day and great event. This is a must do event for anyone travelling to cairns. Very well organized and full fun day of events.
We decided to dp the skyrail and Kuranda scenic railway day excursion from Cairns at a spur's moment and did not regret it - the excursion was excellent. The skyrail /cable car takes you from a station some km outside Cairns through and over the jungle to Kuranda, with two stops on the way, At each stop , there is a 200 - 300 meter boardwalk through the forest where you can explore the fauna (birds, butterflies, snakes if you see one). The cable car takes you over the canopy of the jungle, and the views are splendid. Kuranda itself is a nice village with many galleries, including one excellent gallery specializing in aboriginal artwork. The return (departing Kuranda at around 3 30 pm) is a 90 minute ride back to Cairns railway station with the Kuranda scenic railway, a 20-25 km ride in an old train with old railway carriages that winds down the mountain through the forest and some twenty tunnels and bridges. The railway itself was built in the 1880s during the gold rush era in the region, and it is quite an engineering feat in itself. All together an excellent trip .
This tour was very well put together complete with itineraries and color pamphlets to help guide us throughout the day. Everything went pretty smooth and the driver was helpful at each stop. Thank you for a great day!
This is a packed day and you won’t have time to see or do everything so plan your must-do sights/activities. The cable car and views from the stops are great. The didgeridoo and boomerang demos are great. The included lunch is horrible, recommend you take your own - lunch let’s this down overall. It would probably be best to do the train as the morning and cable car on way home if you get a choice. The train gets a bit boring and long so doing it last when you are tired from the day makes it worse. Some snatches of great views from the train but lots of stretches of no views and it gets dull.
Sites are amazing, the bus driver was extremely efficient and professional with his services. The tour was self guided but the bus driver gave a lot of information on what to do.
Many activities to participate in and plenty to see and do!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Nothing all arrangements were perfect Especially the bus drivers information and guidance at every poiny
We were kept informed at all stages. Due to industrial action we did the skyrail first & train return. Picked up near hotel & bus driver told us what to expect & where to be for transfers. There is a lot included & for some of the events it seemed not enough time spent there. But to fit it all in that's how it is. A very enjoyable day. Would recommend.
Wow, this was so good and something that was just amazing. Very well planned day and would recommend to anyone, it's must whilst visiting.
We booked this trip through the Viator App and the whole booking process was easy to follow with subsequent communications being excellent. This trip is excellent value for money and will be one of the best trips you will do on your holiday. You get a Skyrail over the rain forest and through the clouds which is amazing, you walk through part of the rain forest, you see the quaint village of Kuranda, you go to the Australian Butterfly Sanctuary which is home to an array of stunning butterflies, you go to the Rainforestation Wildlife Park where you can pet the frendly kangaroos, walk around thr nice Zoo and go on a WWII DUK through the water in the forest, you get to watch an aborigine show and activities as well as trying your hand at throwing a boomerang before returning home on the Kuranda Scenic Railway which is amazing in its own right with beautifull scenery and views of waterfalls. The Bus Driver / Guide for the trip was also very good and explained the itinerary for the day very well. All in all, this is an excellent trip and I would highly recommend it to anybody.
Not bad the skyrail was good Train back was long and tiring Everything at Kuranda was so expensive Again not much area here for prams Try to take food n water
The rain forest tour was good, particularly the army duck tour. This said, Tropic wings couldn’t have chosen a more inappropriate driver. Their driver discussed the itinerary with the enthusiasm of a funeral director. When we asked for a clarification, he was instantly annoyed and scolded us for not studying the piece of paper he had given us. Is this Tropic Wings service model? We and others wasted time wandering around the cableway stations because of his unclear information. Considering the superb service we’ve received across Australia, Tropic Wings is an extreme exception. Kuranda is a good activity, but you need to find a better agency than tropic wings.
The tour was very organized. The lunch was very disappointing. The steak was very tuff. None of the food could be considered BBQ. Mostly Asian food. No dessert.
Tour was very good. Itinerary was well laid out with times to meet for each transfer. Bus transports were on time.
The sights were amazing as were the aboriginal presentations. We enjoyed the train ride and the cable car journey was an experience. The lunch was disappointing and in need of improvement.
Great day of activities. Enjoyed the train & Skyrail. Enjoyed the Rainforest Nature Park, especially the Aboriginal experience, and the wildlife park. Everything on itinerary was accurate. BBQ lunch was OK, certainly plenty to eat from the buffet.
One of the best, if not THE best, day tours I have ever been on. And that’s with a chunk in the middle that wasn’t necessary and a dinner that was pretty grim. The train, animals and canopy gondola are so amazing that they more than compensated for the rubbery steak and the dull padding.
The tour is good as it has scenic train ride with a stop, skyrail with 2 good stops for different view of the Barron Falls and breathtaking rainforest canopy. The duck tour, cultural and wildlife activities in the Rainforestation centre and the butterflies sanctuary are informative while providing good fun and the lunch is decent. The only down side is it is DIY with no tour guide, though it is pretty easy to navigate with the briefing and handout and transport is seamless.
Awesome day out with friends or family. Lots of interesting facts and information. Beautiful views. Well worth the money
This was a full on day but really enjoyable. The train ride was lovely and we really enjoyed the ride into the rainforest on the army duck. The guides were very knowledgeable and the day was very well planned out. It was good to learn about the indigenous peoples history and the information about the rainforest. The sky ride was great- even the rain didn’t spoil it
A day with something for everyone. Train ride thru the rainforest. Spectacular views and waterfalls! An incredible rainforest preserve featuring the ability to hold koalas, pet kangaroos, experience indigenous culture, and spend the day in nature. THEN ride the sky rail high atop the rain forest. The day kept getting better and better at each turn. It was a day well spent and one we will treasure always.
We really enjoyed our day visiting this area. We took the Skyrail up to the town on Kuranda and then the scenic train ride back. Plan to spend time in the town shopping and having lunch. The antique train is awesome!
From the time of pick up from hotel until the drop off at our hotel was an amazing experience highly recommended
The views from the sky rail were breath taking. And the short nature walk and falls overlook were well worth the time.
It was a great experience but we were a little disappointed not being able to ride the train, but understood why
The most incredible day. The tour was well organised, structured and managed from the off. Staff were so friendly. Materials provided were excellent. The train and skyrail were breath taking. The wildlife park is a must see. It’s a must book for a trip to cairns.
This tour I found was alright, The scenic railway was good however you do not get to pick your seats on the train which wasn't fair as we was placed in the middle so was unable to see sites out the window due to people in the way, Had to get up and go between cars which I found annoying, I would properly skip the butterfly attraction as this is underwhelming and ment to be guided. When In the wildlife park they do not include the koala picture which you have to break itinerary to do, They also dont tell you that there is limited places for this too. I think this would be better to include this on the tour, The aquaducks were abit meh too as we thought this would be in wild waters but wasn't just in a dam water. Skyrail we were unable to do as the weather turned however was refunded this part but we had to contact them for this. I felt this tour could of been better, However I did enjoy some of it like the aboriginal experience, If it wasn't for this I'd of gave it a 2 star.
Great day out and well worth the money. The whole day was amazingly organised and we thoroughly enjoyed everything. From the train arr the beginning, to Kuranda village (could of done with longer here), the butterfly sanctuary then onto the raiinforestation - which was the best! Wildlife park, great lunch bbq, aboriginal experience - almost caught the boomerang too, the duck boat and then the sky rail down. Both myself and my partner lived the whole day. The coach driver was really lovely too, told us numerous tales and facts about Cairns.
Great experience, lots of beautiful natural things to see on train and sky car! Very enjoyable day and active!
Best snorkeling I have ever done . The snorkeling in the Great Barrier Reef was spectacular. We snorkeled in 3 areas of the reef. The marine biologist on board gave a very interesting presentation. Lunch & snacks were yummy. I would highly recommend this tour.
A great place to spend the day . Nice trip up the skyrail spend several hrs at the top then come back on the train. Views are amazing ,no rush take your time..
The train is not air conditioned so wear comfortable clothes. Great variety of entertainment. Great day!
This is one of the best trips I’ve done so much included from the moment Dom are driver picked us up until we met the other guide Nick Fantastic trip the army duck guys amazing as well as everything else Truly memorable
The skyrail up to Kuranda is a great experience and provides amazing views. Barron Falls were majestic. The markets had some great shops, lovely art and clothing. It was a hot day which is to be expected in January. It did make the trip down on the scenic railway a little challenging, there was little air flow. So be prepared for this if travelling in the summer.
Overall a very good experience. The views and overall experience is worth the trip. The tour guide, timing and views are amazing!
Beware, if the train is unable to transport you to Kuranda they will transport you by bus and will not reimburse you for the train ride. Next step is to protest it on my card.
Pick up available from multiple hotels by comfortable coach. Historic train ride. World War II army DUKW ride in rainforest, butterfly Avery, aboriginal show with spear and boomerang tossing. Buffet lunch is included, which was good.. cable car ride… Definitely a must and was the highlight of my trip to Cairns,
Great experience with families and kids! Though we visited on a rainy day with the railway closed - Tropical Wings guide was very experienced to take us by bus and ensure the remaining activities continued, and the company provided refund. Steve and Dom are friendly, experienced and humorous - we love that!
Really good value for money. Most solo travelers get put on the left hand side of the train and the right side is where you see everything, but you can stand in the doorway!
