Very well organized, great customer service, friendly staff, comfortable transportation. Too much time at the rainforestation and not enough time at the market area. There were several activities we missed in the market area- never made it to the butterflies time was too rushed. There’s down time after lunch though cuz you run out of things to do in that area.

Definitely a tour that can be done much cheaper by yourself. Most things were done by ourselves and we were just given a map to follow with time stamps. We had to meet the crew at the fresh water seaileay station. We could had easily bought our tickets there to the train and the railway.
We had a really enjoyable day exploring Kuranda, and the whole experience was well worth doing. The train journey was lovely, and the Skyrail was fantastic, even with the shorter route due to the renovations. I certainly wouldn't let that put you off booking. Our only suggestion would be to allow yourself more time. Looking back, we would definitely have caught an earlier train, as we ran out of time to properly explore Kuranda Village. It would have been nice to wander through the shops, stop for a coffee and enjoy the village without feeling rushed. There is so much to see and do throughout the day, and we probably underestimated how much time we would need. We would absolutely recommend this experience, but our advice would be to start as early as possible so you can really make the most of everything on offer.
There was lots to see. Did the Rainforestation Nature Park, learn a bit and had a delicious lunch. Back on the bus to the Butterfly Sanctuary then a bit of a walk to the Skytrial. Felt rushed thru some of this. Beautiful sights by the sky trail then back for the Kuranda Scenic Railway. Due to technical issues the train trip was cancelled after we sat on the train for almost an hour. Staff were great in explaining and supporting everyone. Bus arrived at that location to bring us back to the hotel. Except for the train cancellation, the event was great.
We had an amazing day in Kuranda. Our highlights were feeding the kangaroos and holding a koala. It was so special!
Really fun day taking the train up to Karunda exploring Karunda having lunch and taking the sky rail back down. Lunch was so so, typical touristy food. If I did the tour again, I probably would just eat in town. We did not do the butterfly pavilion upgrade and to be honest I don’t think there would’ve been enough time to enjoy it with the time constraints on the tour, the cultural exhibition was fun, got to throw a boomerang and see dancing. The sky rail is very modern and has breathtaking views of the rainforest, giving you a great sense of how vast the rainforest is.
Fantastic experience with a variety of activities & amazing plant & animal life. Rain was no problem
We had a great day. Had a little hiccup with the hotel pickup at the beginning of the day but a quick phone call and our tour was reversed so we didnt miss anything. The staff members were amazing. They came and pick us and took us to the Skyrail where we were given our new itinerary. Got a phone call to let us know what our next step was once we got to Kuranda. At Kuranda we met the next bus driver who helped us with wristband and the itinerary for the Rainforestation. Kuranda Village is beautiful. The Rainforestation was fantastic, the food was great. The Duck operators were very informative. The Dancer were awesome. The train was fabulous. Overall it was a fantastic day
Very well organised, everything we did was well done. The tour was well done, transportation to and from was great You will not be disappointed with the buffet.
What a fantastic day out. The day ran smoothly, we were picked up right on time. The bus was comfortable and air-conditioned. The train ride was a wonderful experience with photo opportunities. We loved the Army Duck- really informative and something different. The rainforest is just breathtaking. The lunch provided was yummy! Thoroughly enjoyed the Aboriginal dancing and throwing a boomerang. The wildlife park was a relaxing walk through. To finish the day with the Skyrail was amazing, though a little scary, haha. Finally dropped back to our accommodation. Shattered but left with fabulous memories and experiences. Highly recommend!!!
The itinerary was changed because the train was delayed so we did not have the opportunity to ride the scenic railway, which was the main reason we booked this tour. The skyrail trip was very enjoyable but the rainforest element of the trip was horrible - we had expected to walk through some of the forest but it was an amphibious vehicle tour. In addition, we couldn’t see the full glory of the forest because of the roof on the vehicle. We escaped the horrible tourist experiences by avoiding the Dreamtime walk - we cringed at the description of this and felt uncomfortable with the othering of another culture and the placing of people as tourist attractions; this seemed demeaning and disrespectful. The lunch was very unappetising. Overall a very disappointing experience from the tour. The best part was walking along the river from Kuranda to the skyrail station. We took the skyrail and returned to Cairns independently by the public bus.
Well organised trip. Plenty of information from different people throughout the day. Lots to see n do. Enjoyable day lunch included. Great views from the train . Return ride on Skytrain was great experience .
This was an amazing day. It was very organized but yet you had free time to explore and take your time. Highly recommend this tour.
It is worth doing beautiful T picks you up she is very friendly and then at Kurandra you meet Asuith he has alot of knowledge of the area. all is included lunch train ride sky train you get to see beautiful kurandra go in an army duck see the rain forrest aboriginal dancers through a boomerang visit the native animals and see the rainforest so worth it
This is a great experience to understand Native people, appreciate the engineering that put ancestors had to dig the tunnels used by the Railroad and appreciate nature.
I think the travelers supposed to be write intenerary and they will know everything about this trip .Many people writen opinions also about they experience .
In the morning at the puckup point we got informed that the scenic railway wasn't running. We decided to commence with the tour anyway and got driven by coach instead of the scenic train. We were very disappointed about not getting onto the scenic train ride but we still had a great day. The staff were amazing with changing the itenery and events around. I can recommend this tour to anyone. ( we did get a partial refund to compensate for the missing train ride. Thank you especially to our driver Tony ... your commentary was great :)
Great way to experience all the highlights of the Kuranda Railway, Village, Rainforest Nature Park, and Skyrail! All the guides were extremely friendly and helpful. Wonderful experience!
This is a great tour. We the wonderful train trip up-to Kuranda, we then wondered through the funky rainforest village of Kuranda and enjoy the heritage markets. Then travelled by shuttle bus to the Australian Rainforestation activities Have a BBQ Lunch. A selection of meats and pasta, salads, cheeses and fruits. Then we watch the Pamagirri Aboriginal Dancers, performing in the rainforest amphitheatre, then join the Dreamtime Walk and tried to learn how to throw a boomerang and spear and watch didgeridoo playing. Next was the Army Duck Rainforest Tour through the Tropical Fruit Orchard, traveling both on land and water with our guide explaining the different species of flora and fauna. After we walked through the Koala Wildlife Park. Seeing the big crocodile being feed, checked out the snakes, dingoes, a cassowary, kangaroos and wallabies. We the travelled back to Cairns on the Skyrail. This soared over the ancient rainforest canopy in a gondola. Hop off at Barron Gorge station and checked out the Barron Falls from the other side from the train trip. We changed over at Red Peak station to travel our final leg down to the Cable-car station.
The highlights of the day were the train ride up (and sights of two different magnificent waterfalls [Barrons taking the cake])) and the skyrail back. Wasn’t too impressed with the duck vehicle into and narrative of the rainforest, or the small zoo in Kuranda. The aborigines (dance and boomerang and spear throwing protocol) was interesting.
It was alright! I expected more than they’ve offered! I thought we would’ve taken a walk through the Rainforest, but instead we took a Army Duck!
Must try activity in cairns, stunning views from both scenic rail journey and sky rail.i would recommend to both Family and friends. Good lunch has been served by the operator.
Booked on line through Kuranda railway train up and sky rail back leaving from Freshwater station 8.55am, $232 for two seniors . Very well organised, helpful staff and plenty of room on train. Views are on the right going up, but good views all round. Lots to see around town, shops and many cafes. No queuing to return at 1.30pm by sky rail. Two beautiful stops on return, where you can walk around boardwalks. Would recommend the train up and sky rail down for amazing views.
The train ride was a very beautiful and relaxing way to make our way into Kuranda. Not much time was needed in the town itself other than to stop for some souvenirs and walk through the butterfly sanctuary as the next stop was lunch, a photo with a koala (that you actually get to hold), stroll through a wildlife park with all of the animals you’d want to see in Australia followed by a boomerang throwing experience, show and relaxing SkyRail back to bus pickup - lots of activities for one day without feeling rushed
good day out travelling to kuranda on the skyrail, back on the train and then bus back to our vehicle at the skyrail.we enjoyed the rangers talk at the first stop on the skyrail.
The gondola ride was great. Would have liked to have more walking and learning to do on the way. Kuranda was good but there are options in the village that are very similar to part of this tour. Was not a huge fan of being isolated at a destination and not really being able to do things at our leisure. Train ride was LONG. May have booked differently if exact times were understood.
Great way to see Kuranda and rainforest. Railway up and skyrail back made for fantastic photos. Free time in Kuranda and indigenous activities and army duck adventure into rainforest forest. Guide Victor was very knowledgeable Never felt rushed or timetable. A great day out.
Great tour, friendly and knowledgeable staff, everything was good except BBQ lunch. Big let down, meat chewy and tough. Recommended but take your own picnic.
This is such a fantastic trip! Right from the get go, the journey was smooth, well organised and the day itself felt thoroughly prepared. The train journey is really lovely, lunch was great, the duck tour was very fun and the Skyrail back through the rainforest was amazing! Kuranda is a lovely little village and the shops have lots of unique little trinkets that I loved. My favourite part of the day was the aboriginal experience. It was so interesting to talk and learn about aboriginal culture and it was great fun to practice boomerang throwing. It’s hard to believe it’s possible to fit so many things into one day! It did not feel rushed at all and there was plenty of time to do everything! I would have loved an extra half an hour in Kuranda village, but that’s because I personally wanted to spend more time there to make sure I’d seen everything and not because we were rushed onto the next thing. Overall, this tour is easygoing, highly informative and a lot of fun. I had an amazing day! I can’t wait to bring a friend next time I’m in Cairns!
Overall a great tour. Coordination at the end of the train ride was a bit strange as our train was delayed getting in. We walked up to the town (3 minute walk) and explored a bit before meeting up with the bus as the butterfly sanctuary. After that, the trip was super smooth. Very hands on and interactive at the Rainforestation park. The cable car ride at the end was amazing and scenic.
Great time, train ride was super cool, hot but fun. The activities were superb. Tribal dance, duck truck ride..and finally skyrail down. Highly recommended. Only bummer was that on way back it rained so couldnt stop half way and do the glass bridge.
This trip has many activities and all of them are interesting. We enjoyed railroad trip and visit to the local market. The highlights of the trip were throwing bumerang, petting a wallaby and totally amazing skyrail trip over the rainforest canopy. I recommend downloading the skyrail app and listening to the commentary during the ride.
An exposure to the rainforest area including the people who live there. The experience included scenic rides on an historic railway and a sky lift, a barbecue lunch and a tour of the rainforest in a WWII-era vintage Army duck amphibious vehicle.
Very organized experience! You won’t regret it and you definitely won’t forget it! Loved the aboriginal immersion. I honor and respect the original inhabitants of the land. The Army Duck vehicle ride thru the jungle terrain was as fantastic! The one I had just happened to be a doppelgänger of Joseph Gordon Levitt (s/o to Mark that handled the vehicle, informative pieces of the rainforest and jokes beautifully). The Aussie BBQ lunch was super tasty! The local shops had a variety of beautiful things at affordable prices. The cable car ride was gorgeous & serene! The Kuranda scenic rail was superb & nostalgic! Be prepared to have a fantastic time!
Very good service, good combination of train and cable car. Food is good. Rainforest is good to explore. We were able to capture the koala moving and eating instead of sleeping, LOL.
We enjoyed our trip on the historical train to Kuranda. Check out the train history before you board the train in ‘Red’ Lynch’s Cottage, which is air conditioned! Most of the markets were closed when we were in Kuranda. We did ride the ducks and enjoyed the aboriginal dance plus took our turn at throwing a boomerang! Saw a cassowary walking around near the aboriginal dance theater!! Sky glide trip was worth the trip to see Barron Falls from a different perspective than the stop on the train.
Definitely check weather before you book! The main attractions for us was the train but couldn’t / canceled because of land slips. Was raining so hard could not see anything at viewing platforms. Duck tour was good 👍. Meal was mediocre 😕 didn’t have time to visit trading shops. Butterfly experience closed because they don’t fly when it rains 😕 Couldn’t see the views from sky rail because travelling through clouds and heavy rain. 😕 unfortunately costly waste of day.
Train was not running. Everything was late and hurried. Did not get to see any stops on the skyway. Too many groups with different agendas. For the price not enough included. Too much time in Kurunda. Shops and cafes close at 3 and we were stuck till 4.
If you’re going to visit Cairns, then the sky rail is a must see adventure for everybody. You travel high above the rainforest get spectacular views and spend a day sightseeing in an aboriginal village. Lots of wildlife spectacular river and waterfall and many friendly people from eastern Australia.
The description sounds like it will be a long day but the whole day is packed with so many different activities it just flies by. I’ve never done and seen so many things in one day before! Even my 90 year old mobility challenged mother enjoyed the day. And everyone was so kind and gracious to her.
It was good experience except for the koala pictures. They were so rude. They didn't even tell you they are about to take the picture or even show you before they print. So they just click even tho u were not looking at the camera. So disappointed. I would have preferred to spend my money somewhere elese.
This trip was fantastic from beginning to end. Pick up was spot in time… (the early time) 0715. We loved the train journey, the views spectacular. Beautiful old carriages, and the staff came around half way through asking those with window seats to swap with those of us without. Loved looking around the shops in Kuranda, lots of fab clothes. My suitcase is heavier. The Army duck thro the rain forest and through the water was fantastic the driver/guide, so knowledgeable and funny. We then had a lovely BBQ. . The aboriginal dance was great. We didn’t do the boomerang as we wanted to spend time in the animal enclosure. Stoked and fed the kangaroos. Looded at the crocodiles and snakes. We held the koala briefly for a photo, all very ethical, following Australia’s guidelines. Then we returned on the sky rail. Not to be missed. Awesome views. All in all a thoroughly brilliant day.
Excellent transfers and commentaries all the way through! Rainforestation experience was the best, loved the army duck tour- super informative. Cultural experience was energetic and special. Great weather was definitely a bonus and the train/skyrail journeys gave spectacular views.
This trip had some amazing views and experiences. Everything was great! The only thing I wouldn’t recommend and was disappointed with was Kuranda. Many stores were closed so we just sat around until we were picked up again.
Beautiful scenery. Enjoyed taking pictures during the trip. Loved the water falls, smooth ride. Happy that we went.
The tour was excellent, the tour guide Tony was very knowledgeable about the plant life but we did not see any amphibious creatures on the duck tour
The railway ride and Skyrail are good experiences, but the stop in Kuranda Village and Rainforestaion Park not so much. The former is mostly shopping and the latter more or less like an educational camp for youngsters.
We went on the Grand Kuranda tour which was a well organised tour. We were picked up at the scheduled time and transported to the train station where we boarded the scenic railway up to Kuranda. On arrival it was a short walk to the butterfly sanctuary which my kids loved. We were picked up and transported to the rainforeststation park for a cultural experience followed by buffet lunch of which there was plenty of food. We were able to squeeze in a koala photo which was a highlight for our daughter. A wander through the animal park was lovely. We were then back on the bus to the skyway station for the trip back down. The views up on the train and down on the skyway were spectacular and the standout for the day.
Firstly I must say - Geoff - what an amazing fella to meet and greet us. We drove to the station and wasn’t sure where to collect our tickets. Along came Geoff and explained how the day would play out. His commentary on the bus was interesting and engaging and the only driver during the day who did this (on the transfers we had). I highly recommend booking one of these tours. All included, easy flowing and kept us busy all day. The Teenagers loved it! We went up by train and down by sky rail. I think this was great.
It was a good tour. We rode the train there and the skyway back. My favorite part was the animals. So much Australian wildlife!
