I could have spent the whole night there. The guides were so amazing and their knowledge was second to none and the meal after was remarkable

Fantastic and informative tour with a great guide 👍 Dinner afterwards was superb too. Thank you. We recommend this experience 👌
Outstanding experience. Guide was very knowledgeable and was great at answering questions. Amazing aquarium. We had the added on dinner and it was so delicious. Highly recommend
As a NQ resident who has visited the reef numerous times and this being the 3rd visit to the aquarium, I had the same “meh” expectations that I always had. Aquarium is nice, good areas and okay way to spend a few hours. Sasha proved me wrong, an engaging and informative tour that was thoroughly enjoyed by our entire group. The knowledge and compassion that was on show is an absolute credit to the business and the industry as a whole. Great pace, easily understood and really engaging. Dinner was delicious too, the only downfall was we noted it was for a birthday and the restaurant staff didn’t acknowledge this once which made our birthday girl a little sad but overall amazing tour.
The tour of the aquarium was great! Our guide was very knowledgeable and funny. The aquarium is fantastic. The restaurant not so much. The food was good but the vibe is weird. Would definitely go back to the aquarium but not the restaurant.
This tour was amazing, The guide who did our tour was so knowledgeable, made everyone feel welcome, sorry cant remember her name but if you get a guide with long red hair that's her Amazing. 3 course Dinner was awesome steak cooked to perfection pork ribs beautiful I definitely recommend this tour 10/10.
This was an amazing experience. Our guide Shem sp? was passionate about the topic of marine biology. She was extremely knowledgeable but if she didn’t know the answer - she admitted that she doesn’t know everything about every single creature there - nobody would. I admire that honesty. As teachers on holiday we were very happy to not have any children in the group - so the information was given at an adult level. Perhaps there could be an option for adult only tours. I heard kids in the next group constantly asking what’s the name of that fish! That would’ve been annoying. Shem went over time with us, which was great as her information was fascinating. The dinner at Squire’s Loft was very enjoyable too.
This was a wonderful experience for the whole family, the guide was knowledgeable and great with adults and kids The meal after was lovely
The guide was amazing The aquariums are awesome And the 3 course dinner was delicious
Highly recommended. Beautiful Aquarium. We loved it ❤️
The Aquarium tour with Michala was awesome. She was very, very knowledgeable , professional and polite. She ensured that we were all happy and was able to answer all of our questions. The 3 course dinner in the restaurant was AMAZING!!!!! definitely a must do when next in Cairns. Thanks for an enjoyable experience.
Thanks Jason for a very informative and fun Twilight tour of the Cairns Aquarium. The three course meal at the end was delicious. Attentive wait staff and great setting for dinner, thoroughly enjoyed my evening
The guide was absolutely brilliant. So much knowledge and enthusiasm it showed her dedication to the aquatic creatures. The displays and tanks were terrific and to watch the sea life so up close and personal was sensational. The meal afterwards was delicious and delightful. Also to be able to watch the fish while we ate... simply something special.
This was a lovely experience! Our tour guide Bradley was very knowledgeable, personable, and it was great to see someone be so passionate about the exhibits, conservation and helping people understand how connected we are to marine life, and the respect and care that it deserves. Also with the right amount of humor thrown in there. I don't know what they are paying him but it should be more!!! <3 The aquarium itself it really well designed, starting high above sea level in the freshwater exhibits, and walking through to the darker depths of the ocean- it really helped you understand how everything is connected and visualise where the animals can be found in nature and their parts to play. This aquarium has many impressive and beautiful tanks- the ray/catfish/barramundi tank, the two storey "Drop Off" tank, and the deep sea tunnels with the sharks! I personally really enjoyed how the reef/rock pool exhibit had simulated high and low tides, that's just such a simple and effective thing to do for marine life that helps create a more natural environment for them. Love that. The 3 course dinner at the Dundee restaurant was also great! We had the Crocodile spring rolls and fried haloumi entrees, with the Barramundi and Angus Sirloin mains (so goood) and two well sized desserts! I appreciated how all of the dishes were very quintessential Australian flavours (especially the desserts) whilst still being quite elegant and wonderfully constructed. Our server was Tahnee and she was also very personable and we enjoyed a bit of banter with her between meals. Overall just a great experience, and I would recommend the whole thing to anyone visiting Cairns!!
What a fantastic afternoon we had The guided tour was soo good both girls were very knowledgeable and their enthusiasm and love and passion for their work stood out And then the three course meal was absolutely Devine melt in mouth Right up there with one of the best meals I’ve had could not fault any of it 😊
The small group twilight tour was an excellent way to experience the Cairns Aquarium without crowds. Our host Jason was knowledgeable and spoke to many of the exhibits. We also had plenty of time to look at each tank. The dinner that followed at Dundee’s was delicious and the team provided excellent service! Would highly recommend this tour to people who want to go to the aquarium (without any loud or frightened children) and have an excellent meal after!
Enjoyed the aquarium tho another tour of young people were right behind us being noisy so would have preferred our tour to be after they close to the public AND to have tables set up in the aquarium (which we were expecting) not simply a meal at the adjoining restaurant. Everyone enjoyed their meals but there’s always one fussy one…which was me,but they did manage to sort me out with something!
Id highly recommend the after hours guided tour and dinner,it was a great experience with a knowledgeable guide and lovely dinner with Dundee's
We really enjoyed our tour under the expert and very enthusiastic guidance of Michaela who does a terrific job to educate visitors about the reef and rainforest. Dinner was a bonus. Beware the helpings are very generous.
Fabulous experience. Daniel, our guide was exceptional - brought the aquarium exhibits to life! The 3 course dinner at Dundees attached to the Aquarium was fabulous. A great event all round!!!
The aquarium is just Superb. Very well planned layouts. Amazing variety of fishes. Ample place 2 move around n seating too.
Makayla hosted us all on the most funny and informative tour I have ever been to. Cannot recommend this place enough for everyone of every age.
Guide was extremely knowledgeable and passionate about conveying as much information as possible. She was working in a very challenging situation where there was a constantly screaming and disruptive child. The 3 course meal was delicious and felt we received good value for our money.
What a great tour we had at the Aquarium. Our tour leader Cameron was amazing. He was very knowledgeable, friendly, and personable. We learned a great deal about the land and sea animals in the area. We like visiting aquariums when we travel and the Cairns Aquarium is simply a magnificent aquarium with crystal clean water and beautiful exhibits. The 3 course dinner at Dundees at the aquarium after the tour was likewise spectacular. I highly recommend this tour and dinner to anyone visiting the area who has an interest in learning more about the region’s sea animals and the animals in and around the local river systems. I had a great time on my day snorkeling the Great Barrier Reef out of Cairns, but I learned more, and saw more fish species at the at the aquarium, a great complement to my day at the reef.
Beautiful visit to Cairns Aquarium. Our tour guide Daniel was very knowledgeable and he made the tour interesting !! The staff at the Aquarium are all very friendly and pleasant! They were very welcoming and when I came with my elderly mum they took special care and I am very appreciative of how they treated my mum. After the tour the dinner was also wonderful!! We had a terrific time and would highly recommend this tour !!!
Our tour guide was very knowledgeable and well mannered with a great sense of humor. The aquarium is beautiful with all sorts of fish from the region. The 3 course dinner was absolutely amazing!!! We would've eaten there another night had we known.
Our guide was just perfect - he knew a lot and was able to get everyone involved and interested, and he told all his stories with a lot of humor 👍😀💪👏
Booked the tour wuth dinner. The tour was great. Our guide was knowledgeable and friendly. To be able to view the exhibits without a crowd was great. Dinner was also very very good. Good slection of a set menu and delicious food
The tour was fantastic, very informative, our tour guide Jason was brilliant, funny & full of knowledge, we loved it. The 3 course dinner at Dundees restaurant was outstanding, absolutely delicious food and the service was fantastic. We highly recommend this tour & dining experience ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Was expecting to eat in the actual aquarium which would have been awesome..especially in the tunnel part!! Would have preferred to be the last tour of the day as had a noisy group following. Staff however were exceptional in their knowledge and helpfulness
Went with my father to the aquarium. The tour guides were so knowledgeable and shared lots of relevant information. The aquatic displays were awesome! The three course was magnificent with fantastic personalised service. Would highly recommend.
Excellent experience,we have been visiting a lot of beautiful thing which is from big barrier reef,it’s very clear and amazing, our tour was very professional and the dinner was really gorgeous!
The aquarium is very well designed, and has quite an extensive layout, focusing on a variety of ecosystems that affect the surrounding ocean and the land, and with some massive reef tanks, plus a range of species of fish and amphibians on display. Our Guide was very enthusiastic and pretty knowledgeable, although her focus tended to be on very elemental information as well as some degree of enthusiastic cheerleading for environmental issues, but little depth, which was probably understandable given the wide range of ages and interests of the tour members. My main concern with the aquarium however was more fundamental - the relatively limited focus on the nearby Great Barrier Reef itself. A few posters and some discussion about fish you might see but I was surprised that the aquarium did not seem to have much discussion about the great barrier reef’s evolution, what reefs and shoals were nearby, relatively little about bleaching from climate change, and almost nothing that I could see about the geography and ecosystem that led to the barrier reef. Again, I understand that this is mostly not a science based museum but of all the places in the world to have an aquarium that should cover the world’s most important and famous reef you would’ve thought that one at Cairnes would have had a bit more depth. Still, I found it a pleasant visit, and the fish displays were extremely well done (my stars are mostly for the massive reef tanks!) My more significant problem was with the restaurant, which was very much a disappointment. Over the course of my visit to Cairnes, Port Douglas and Cape Tribulation, I had Barramundi three or four times, and the only time that it was actually quite bad, and overpriced, was at the restaurant at the Aquarium. It was mealy, poorly cooked, and with something under it that was relatively unpleasant. Overall not a good meal, bad value for money and quite disappointing. I would recommend not doing the three-course dinner, but just going to the aquarium by yourself, without the tour. Aquarium is definitely worth seeing but not at the cost of this package.
Food and service at Dundees very good and interesting to see the marine life at dusk. Interesting experience.
The views were amazing, we took so many photo's! Cameron the tour guide was so knowledgeable and friendly! Very happy with the whole experience - highly recommended!! The food at the restaurant was delicious, good variety of food for the 3 courses and gluten free friendly.
This was one of the nicest dinner cruisers that we have been on. The crew were extremely helpful and courteous. Additionally the buffet meal was wonderful we would recommend this cruise to anyone who wants a very special evening experience.
My husband with his son and me and my son had the most wonderful experience at the Twilight Tour and 3-course dinner. Cameron, the tour guide was professional, informative, polite with a great sense of humour. Dining attendant, Erika provided excellent professional and friendly service. We highly recommend the tour, it provides insight about the life and habitats of numerous creatures of the sea. All of this followed by a delightful, scrumptious dinner at Dundee's Restaurant. J and A.
I did the twilight tour with Cameron as tour guide. I loved the way we went from inland waterways to reef. The aquarium is amazing. The small group and empty aquarium made for great viewing and all questions were answered. Very interesting to see what the animals get up to after dark. The meal was amazing and service excellent.
Absolutely fantastic tour and I been to many aquariums around the World including Okinawa Churaumi Aquarium the 2nd largest in the World, which houses a Whale Shark, Dubai Aquarium & Underwater Zoo, Sea Life Kelly Tarlton's Aquarium in Auckland New Zealand and many more in Australia where I live. This is up there! The Aquarium is closed after 3pm for the private tour and I can’t speak more highly of our tour guide Bec! A Marine Biologist with over 10 years experience who knew so much more about the fishes and displays than reading a book or watching documentaries! And to finish off the tour with a great 3 course meal on the on-site restaurant.
Very informative tour it was great no kids on the tour which was awesome and only small groups 18 people in our group Tour went for 2 hrs and then a three course dinner All I can say is OMG ! The food , the service were impeccable The croc spring rolls were the bomb !!
Excellent guide she was very patient with children, amazing fish, fun experience must do, the best.
The aquarium is great and the guide was friendly and very informative. The dinner was also excellent. My only quibble was the price - the other 5 star restaurants in Cairns are doing a 3-course dinner for around $80 meaning that you are paying $100 for the tour. Given the large numbers on the tour that seems excessive. There were times when I was still waiting in line for the chance to see a display three or four displays behind the one the guide was commenting on.
We enjoyed the twilight tour immensely. Our guide was knowledgeable, engaging and showed a great rapport with children in the group
The service and tour itself was wonderful. Laura, our tour guide was extremely knowledgeable, interesting and so friendly. We learnt quite a bit and appreciate our ecosystem so much more. My son was unwell and we were treated with kindness and emapthy. Highly recommend this experience l. Well worth it! Thankyou!!
Laura was a fantastic guide and our whole group enjoyed her commentary of the aquarium. The aquarium itself is fascinating in the way it follows the water from a freshwater stream to the reef. If you do the evening tour, you don’t need to visit the aquarium early in the day as it is a long walk around each exhibit. The dinner was buffet style with good options for adults but mostly curries or meats with sauces. Not ideal for smaller children or fussy eaters as there weren’t any kid friendly options (other than steamed rice, bread rolls and fresh fruit). Also the catering staff were standing behind the buffet criticising modern parenting for not making our children eat what they didn’t want which was a bit painful - we really could have done without the parent shaming after a long day! I would say the catering staff let down an experience otherwise well suited to families.
Good late afternoon guided tour but a little rushed. Enjoyed what we did however not enough time to enjoy the full experience. Staff was knowledgeable and helpful but due to time constraints missed areas of the aquarium and didn't have ability to just sit and watch the animals. Bit rushed due to seating time at Dundees restaurant. Dinner serves were generous but 1 of 2 entrees was cold
Our qualified guide, who really knows and understands her subject matter, was brilliant. My mobility difficulties were catered for seamlessly.
Guided tour enriched the experience, with a focus on conservation and what we all can do to protect our marine environment and the animals.
This is a great aquarium and being in Cairns, you get all the fresh coral and fish species and a couple that are extinct here in Australia. It has reptiles as well. I went with my wife and elderly mother and we all thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Alcohol and other beverages and the food available was very tasty, fresh and an abundance of choice. The couple of tour guides were extremely passionate, professional and knowledgeable. Its good to see that we are learning more and more about our ecosystems as we advance in our technology and understanding of their habitats and biological changes. The were a couple of kids on the tour that also you could see were enjoying the sights and amazing wonders we need to protect. You were put into small private groups and its very much a custom and personal experience. Well worth it. Well done to all the staff and the chefs!
Awesome Aquarium, disappointing meal. Loved visiting the aquarium and was looking forward to dinner, but for the price, definitely disappointed.
