Team was knowledgeable, rapids were great. Would appreciate smaller groups to make the experience better.

Had a fantastic afternoon on the Barron. Jack and Zach were terrific. Thanks
The river and sights were beautiful but we weren’t super impressed by the organization of the rafting itself. Our guide was experienced but there were several guides that didn’t seem as confident in what they were doing. We spent some of the trip tied up waiting for others to get through rapids which I understand is needed for safety reasons but not super exciting. Any level of experience can do these rapids as they were manageable with our guide telling us how to get through them.
What a great experience. We were picked up in Cairns and within a short time were at the river. All equipment was provided, and bags with a dry change of clothing safely stored for later. The guides knew their stuff and made for a hilarious experience, the whole boat was laughing hysterically as we plunged down the river.
Great day on the water. Excellent guides. Felt very safe. Lots of specific instructions for paddling which was very helpful for me. Fun groupto go with and had a lovely day. Would definitely recommend it with this company.
Danny in the red boat was an amazing instructor — he explained all the safety instructions clearly, made everyone feel comfortable, and then we were off. It was my first white water rafting experience and it absolutely exceeded expectations. Such a fun, exciting adventure with a great team and awesome atmosphere. Highly recommend for anyone thinking of giving it a go — I’ll definitely be rafting again
Fun, fun and more fun. It was an amazing experience I would love to do it again. If it’s your first time don’t hesitate it will be great.
This is not for beginners or someone that has never gone whitewater rafting. You do not get to just ride down the river. You basically have to learn 5 very important commands in 15 minutes and then you are in big rapids. One of our people was tossed out of the raft within the first five minutes. None of us knew anything about whitewater rafting and we were terrified. That being said our guide was top notch, and very skilled at navigating the river, she knew what she was doing and got us through it! I can cross this off my bucket list! I need a T-Shirt that says I survived whitewater rafting on the Barron River!
The White Water Rafting was very exciting and very well organised. We went on a day when the river was very high and safety was a high priority yet we still had a lot of thrills. We are going to go white water rafting again.
Great time rafting with Cairns Adventure Group. The river was flowing and we got some really good rapids. Felix was the guide for our boat and he was helpful and fun. The company as a whole seemed a tiny bit disorganized while we were waiting to actually get on the river, but that was mostly a minor detail. The trip was a lot of fun.
Be prepared to be completely dunked! We had such a fun and wild time and Megan expertly guided us down the river. The rapids were exhilerating and not the leisure ride we were expecting...much better.
Very thorough and clear guides, who provide everything from transportation, gear and how-tos for going rafting. The rapids were probably class 2-3, very mild and great experience for beginners.
The experience was 10/10 ! Our guide, Lily, was very enthusiastic and fun. Would 100% recommend if you’re thinking of trying
We booked the Barron River Half-Day White Water Rafting during a period of heavy rain, and it did not disappoint! The convenience of the hotel pick-up and return from Cairns made the logistics effortless. Preparation & Safety: The team was incredibly organized. The safety briefing on the bus was thorough and professional, which was reassuring given the river conditions. We were outfitted with all the necessary gear quickly and efficiently once we arrived at the launch site. The Rafting Experience: Because of the recent rains, the Barron River was at its maximum level—fast-moving and muddy, which actually made for some fantastic rapids! As someone with rafting experience across the USA, New Zealand, and other parts of Australia, I found this to be a really enjoyable and well-paced run. Note on Safety: The guides are clearly experts. We had to portage the rafts around a Level 5/6 rapid that was too dangerous to run in these conditions. I appreciated the guides' commitment to safety while still ensuring we had a blast on the accessible rapids. Who is this for? Even with the high water, this is a perfect trip for beginners and families. It offers just the right amount of excitement without being overwhelming. Summary: A fantastic way to spend a half-day in Cairns, rain or shine. If the river is pumping, you’re in for a real treat!
We had a brilliant time at this activity. Our guides Addison and Tina were amazing and good fun, and put my nerves of falling out at ease. Would 100% recommend this activity. All the staff were so kind and friendly.
It’s the best rafting experience ever. Fin was our rafting guide who are so passionate and professional.
Bellau(Not sure of the Spelling :). Was an amazing guide. He made it fun and worth every dollar.. Amazing person and fun experience all around!
We almost booked the full day rafting trip in Cairns. Eight hours of this? I would have needed therapy. The river looked like hot chocolate made in a ditch and smelled like the inside of a septic tank. I am used to clean rivers where I live. I did not expect luxury, but I also did not expect to question whether I needed a tetanus shot after getting splashed. Our guide was brand new. Not kind of new first-day, first-time-on-a-raft new. He was being trained live, which meant frequent stops so the actual guide could explain paddling, steering, and how to tie a knot. On top of that, the trainee spent the entire time barking commands like a drill sergeant. “Forward. Back. Stop.” Right in my ear. I was not sure if I had booked a rafting trip or enlisted in some muddy aquatic military unit. The scenery was jungle beauty, but no waterfalls, just brown water, brown banks and big rocks. The only wildlife sighting they teased us with was a possible crocodile. We did not even get that. Just the smell. At the end, we were asked to load the raft onto the trailer ourselves. That was the final straw. I had officially worked harder than the new guide. To be fair, the experienced guide could see I was hanging on by a thread. After I made a few “incredible” jokes and tapped out at the end, he turned to me and said, “You’re a legend.” I know he meant it. He had watched me survive a comedy-horror rafting film in real time. Spend your time in Cairns doing anything else. Dive. Eat. Shop. Lie on your back and watch clouds. Just skip this trip unless you enjoy yelling, brown water, and disappointment.
Fantastic guides that made the whole experience fun, lighthearted but very safe. Pick up and drop off so easy, paying was no problem.
We had a great afternoon with Dorothy so much fun she was fantastic ! Specially with my wife who was apprehensive about falling out of the raft.Good activity to do on a rainy day which we had and made no difference to the experience.Id give it 5 stars out of 5
Great afternoon with our guide John. Managed to manoeuvre us through the rapids without losing anyone from the raft. Highly recommend o
We had a family of 4 and our youngest was 12yrs. We had Lexy as our guide and she... (infact all the guides were..) brilliant. It was safe and fun. Couldn't fault the day.
First time white water rafting and it was an incredible experience! The Barron Gorge is stunning and Cairns Adventure Group made the whole trip easy and fun. A huge thank you to our raft guide Jacqui and the entire team with our bus guide who was hilarious (unfortunately I don’t recall his name but pretty sure he was French) – knowledgeable, supportive, and kept the energy high the whole way through. We were also lucky to have such a great group in our raft, which made the adventure even more enjoyable. Highly recommend!
A wonderful short time out on the water. Shout out to Harry for his excellent bus hosting, Jackie for being the best bus driver ever and Ed, my raft guide. The tour is safe, fun and not too strenuous. I’d love to go rafting again and feel ready to level up.
We booked this experience expecting it to be a fun and laughter filled afternoon activity for us as a family with teens. Little did we expect this to be a strictly regimented activity. But maybe it was just us as the rest of the rafts seemed to be having fun which sadly wasn't the case for us. Our raft captain expected us to strictly follow his commands and not get distracted by fun and laughter. He deflated our spirits pretty swiftly. I did share my feedback and complaint with the tour company and they have promised action and internal review into this. They also stressed that this experience is meant to be fun for beginners and not too regimented hence I chose a 3 Star.
When we booked the tour we believed it will be a great fun filled experience for us as a family with teenaged kids. But little did we know that this was actually a regimented activity where having fun and laughter was unacceptable. Well that’s how it turned out for us but not for the rest of the rafts, they were all having a good time. Hence I have rated this a 3 Star instead of 1Star Our experience was marred by our Raft Captain who seemed to get irritated if we were not able to keep up to his regimented instructions. He was rude and totally spoiled what was meant to be a beginner’s experience at white water rafting. I have shared my feedback and complaint with the tour provider but haven’t had any response yet from them other than a holding statement.
A great afternoon adventure! A couple transcendental experiences coming down the river. If you're new to rafting like I was, don't worry! The guides will tell you all you need to know to stay safe while having a real river adventure.
We had a great time as first-timers in white water rafting. Andy explained the process on the bus clearly. Our guide Exon gave us excellent instructions. He also provided interesting facts about the Barron River. We had so much fun that 2 of our family members already said they will do the next grade of rafting!
First time white water rafting and it was funtastic. Dorothy was our leader and she did an amazing job even when we got a little ‘stuck’. Looking forward to doing this again
Such a fun, great experience! Tina was our raft guide and she was amazing! Very kind and helpful. 100% recommend. Beautiful views as well
Had an absolute blast white water rafting on the Barron River in Cairns with my best friend! From the moment of pickup, the vibes were amazing, and our guide on the raft, Ricky, made the experience even better. We were definitely the fun boat, and she made sure we felt comfortable and had a great time. Rocky was an absolute gem as well! I’m sure all the guides are just as fantastic. Highly recommend this adventure, and I’ll 100% be doing it again when I’m back in Cairns!

Absolutely brilliant breathless experience. We are 68 and 65 years old getting a big kick all the same. It is not to be missed.
I went rafting with my twin sister and a friend for our 21st birthday. It was great fun! We got to meet some great people, and our guide, Hannah, made the experience incredibly enjoyable. I would highly recommend. Not only was it a fun activity but it was also very social.
Awesome experience and instructor Rocky..very well managed task overall. I enjoyed each moment of this activity.
Went rafting with a couple friends of mine. For most of us it was the first time. The explanation from the guides made it al very safe and enjoyable. On top of that, our boat's instructor Hannah made the whole trip that much more fun with her amazing Kiwi energy!
I had the thrill of white water rafting with Raging Thunder, and it was an absolutely unforgettable experience! From start to finish, the team was professional, organized, and focused on ensuring everyone had both a safe and exciting adventure. The guides were incredibly knowledgeable, skilled, and full of energy, making the entire trip engaging and fun. They provided clear instructions, shared interesting facts about the area, and had a great sense of humor that kept the atmosphere lively. The rafting route itself was breathtaking, with stunning views of nature and heart-pumping rapids that offered the perfect mix of adrenaline and adventure. Whether you're a first-timer or an experienced rafter, Raging Thunder caters to everyone with expert guidance and an emphasis on safety. I felt completely at ease throughout the journey, which allowed me to fully enjoy the thrill of the rapids and the beauty of the surroundings. If you're looking for an unforgettable outdoor adventure, I highly recommend Raging Thunder. This was hands down one of the best experiences I've had, and I can’t wait to do it again!
It’s an excellent experience! They provided nice pick up and drop off transfer from my accommodation. My guide Elliot is funny and professional who makes my trip more relaxed and enjoyable. Thanks for these kind and lovely people!
Fantastic experience. Kris made it an amazing ride, first timers would definitely do it again would upgrade to a full day
Absolutely amazing trip - not to be missed. The guides are fantastic - clear safety briefing and great fun. From pick up to drop off - excellent service.
It’s a very fun and exciting experience. Highly recommended. It’s an awesome activity for either family or solo travel. Outstanding service as well.
This tour is well suited to take with kids. You will use the lower part of the Barron river which is not as wild as other parts and is classified as a level 3. Very well organized. Pickup from Cairns is included. Bring your own shoes or hire them for $5,- Depending on the size of the group you will end up with about 6 people in a raft. All safety gear is provided. There is a short introduction, safety talk and some practice activities at the start of the trip before goin through the rapids. In July the water is refreshing but not cold. You will get wet! The last part is mainly peddling back to the buss. There are no showers at the end, so bring a towel and a dry set of clothes. Great fun with the kids. If you are more experienced you might want to try the longer trips they offer.
Great fun and lots of action. We had an excellent guide! This was the first time my 12 year old had experienced rafting and Jesse was outstanding with him.
Absolutely love these guys, and would love to try again next time I visit Cairns. Energetic, fun, and engaging, although the weather ruined a bit of it. They stay strong and positive attitude. True Blue Aussies!
We had to pay an extra $177 on arrival, total of +$800 for 5 people The staff were good just way over priced for the activity
