As an Accor member, I felt embarrassed and disrespected by the way I was treated during check-in at Pullman Cairns International. I booked a Superior Room with a high-floor room type/detail, but I was assigned a room on the lowest floor instead . What upset me most was being told by a staff member that I should not expect a high floor because I had booked a staff rate. I would understand if the hotel was fully booked or if I had checked in late. However, neither was the case. I checked in on time, and the same room type with high-floor availability was still being advertised. I was not asking for a complimentary upgrade or expecting special treatment. I simply expected to receive the room type I had booked. The rate I paid should not be used as a reason to make me feel that I deserve less respect as a guest. What disappointed me most was not just the room allocation, but the attitude and the way the situation was communicated. A polite and professional explanation would have made a big difference. As someone who is also familiar with the hospitality industry, I believe every guest deserves to be treated with respect, regardless of the rate they pay. This experience left me disappointed and made me question the level of service at a hotel under the Pullman brand.

What a beautiful place to stay. The beds are the first comfortable beds i have had in a very long time in a hotel. Spoilt for choice at breakfast. Service from everyone is outstanding. Restaurant has quality food not to be missed and dont forget happy hour. Thank you for making our stay so wonderful. The out door pools and spas were also amazing. Not enough space to tell how wonderful this place is. I was really impressed. Regards Susy from Melbourne
We arrived in the evening and the hotel entrance is lovely. Unfortunately we opened our room door to a strong odour. Thought it was damp and then realised it was paint. Someone we’re travelling with doesn’t have that problem on the 3rd floor. The smell was bad so we kept the balcony door wide open night and day. More annoying is the quality of the breakfast. In short, highly recommend NOT to book breakfast and instead go around the block to The Chambers for a good quality breakfast and coffee. There is also a wharf cafe across the road. The hotel breakfast is 3star at best, absolute waste of money especially when traveling in a group or if you enjoy decent coffee. You have to buy a proper coffee anyway, might as well do it elsewhere!
We only had one night here before our flight the next day, but it was perfect. King bed was very comfy and the room was spotless. Breakfast buffet was delicious, with lots of choice. Beautiful view of the wharf from our balcony and the sunset from the pool deck was a little bonus. Service throughout our stay was excellent. Parking is extra, but worth it for the convenience. Will definitely return in the future!
My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our visit to Cairns, which was made all the more enjoyable by our stay in the Pullman Cairns International Hotel. We got a great deal through our Accor membership, which was made even better when we contacted the hotel direct. Our room was a Deluxe Harbour View King room on Level 9, on the north western corner facing Abbott St. Note, if you want views, then you’ll need to be at least Level 9, otherwise other high rise buildings will block your view. We experienced lovely sunrises and sunsets. Easy walking distance to the esplanade, city CBD, and a gentle stroll to Cairns Central (incorporating Queensland Rail’s Cairns Station). Highly recommended and we’ll back next year!
