Staff were friendly and helpful on arrival. It’s an older resort furniture is abit dated. Great location. The only thing I didn’t like when I went to get a blanket out it was very dusty so I guessing they don’t get washed everytime someone stays. I would most likely stay here again

Pros and cons! Pros: Staff was fantastic. Pool was really good (Tiles near waterfall were a bit slimey and needed a wipe down & unfortunately the spa was out of order our whole stay) Great views of the esplanade and short walk to Muddys playground. This is located Cairns North so a $10 uber into CBD. Negatives: Unfortunately the room was in need of a serious clean. Mould in aircon vents and bathrooms. All surfaces just needed a generally good clean. Lots of dust and dirt on surfaces. Very musty smell in kitchen drawers that almost knocked me out upong opening and ants in kitchen. Salt and pepper shakers empty. One salt in cupboard expired 2018. All plates/bowls needed rewashing as dirty. Very disappointed with the $350 a night paid.
I recently stayed at this hotel for a week at a cost of $1700, and unfortunately, the experience was far from pleasant. When I arrived, the foyer lights were off, making the entrance dark and not welcoming at all. Checking in was a hassle, since there was no one at the front desk and I had to call a number posted on the wall just to get someone to assist me. Once inside, the room had a strong smell of mold and dampness. The furniture was outdated and dusty, with black mold on the bathroom ceiling, rust, and scuff marks everywhere. The bed itself was uncomfortable with an indent in the mattress, and to make matters worse, there were even marks on the bedsheets. The parking area had a musty smell, and there were bugs in the light fixtures. In short, this hotel definitely needs serious maintenance and cleaning, and it did not meet expectations for the price paid.
181 The Esplanade is perfect. The staff are very good, location is fabulous - the Cairns Base Hospital on one side and a great restaurant & cocktail bar on the other. It is also a very easy walk into town along the waterfront. I booked the accommodation for my 95yo mother & 2 siblings. Their arrival was a little delayed, so I did some grocery shopping for them and dropped it off. I was able to pop the groceries in the unit prior to the family checking in later. This made the weekend so much easier for my family - very much appreciated!
Great location, very nice hotel The 2-beds 2-baths apartment is quite nice and spacious. The balcony on the main esplanade offers a nice view The rooms are spacious and clean with comfy beds. The bathrooms are large but need some refurbishment as they look dated Plenty of storage space and amenities, including a kitchen and a laundry room Overall quiet and safe location, but the helicopters landing at the airport can be noisy during the night but there are not that many Close to the main centre and nice walks around It is clean but you can occasionally find some huge cockroaches or ants
