Parador De Trujillo

Great location close to historical center, yet easily reachable by car. Rooms are spacious in size with good beds. Breakfast is generous with eggs cooked to order.

Only stayed for one night on a cycling tour but really enjoyed the hotel, which is a large, restored monastery, in this picturesque town. Great room and plentiful breakfast. Helpful and friendly staff.

The Parador de Trujillo is one of those rare hotels where history isn’t just a backdrop, it’s the soul of the experience. Housed in a former 16th-century Franciscan convent (Santa Clara), founded in 1533 and transformed into a Parador in 1984, the building still breathes centuries of quiet dignity. The Renaissance cloister, heavy stone walls, and vaulted ceilings create an atmosphere that feels both monumental and serene. The old nuns’ cells have been converted into stylish rooms, combining simplicity with thoughtful design, and small historical details. I spent Christmas evening here with friends, enjoying a festive dinner in the former chapel, now beautifully repurposed as a restaurant. It was a magical setting, but what made it truly memorable was the care shown by the staff. Having recently had tooth implants, I could only eat puréed food. The kitchen went out of their way to prepare a special Christmas dinner just for me, so I could fully participate in the evening without feeling excluded.

Rooms are large, nice, cozy and very comfortable. Breakfast is poor, not compatible with a 4 star place. Location is very good to visit Trujillo, but access is difficult and parking is expensive, not justifiable.
