[Busan,gamcheonvillage] Private Korean Art Painting Class

It was an incredible experience. I recommend this to anybody traveling to Busan. Not only is the village super cute but the class and the artist/teacher is amazing. You won’t want to leave without buying some beautiful art.

I truly enjoyed the workshop. They were a lot of different motives to chose from. The host Jinee was really friendly and guided through each step one at a time. It was fun talking with her and her husband during the workshop and learning about the Korean culture as well. Even though I needed a little longer, they were really patient and showed great hospitality. If you're interested in creating art and learning from a local, I can warmly recommend this workshop

My son and I booked this experience last minute - and I’m so happy that we did! Jinee was absolutely lovely. Her shop is small and full of her beautiful art. She really cares about both the painting and its meaning, and she happily explained it all as she taught us to paint. We chose our drawings and she mixed the paint and gave us lots of tips - thankfully! It was the most enjoyable two hours. Jinee is also based within the cultural village which is well worth a wander around for its art and vibrancy. Just wear trainers as it’s very steep! I would thoroughly recommend this to anyone with children who are able to sit still for two hours, so perhaps 8+ years - the shop is full of art and I would suggest wouldn’t be great for younger children or those that are “into everything”. We are taking our painting home to proudly display

The painting workshop was a wonderful experience and I'm so happy I did it. The teacher was such a joy to learn from! Besides teaching me about the history of the art and the art form itself, she also engaged with me on many random topics that it was like painting with a friend. Thank you for making my travel to Busan memorable!

This was the highlight of our Busan trip. Ginny and Moon are incredibly kind and patient. Ginny is so talented! We all loved the experience and can’t wait to come back to Busan and visit them again.

I'm so grateful we were able to take this class. It was just our family of 4, in a tiny art studio run by a lovely art teacher and her husband. They were sweet and mindful and we loved learning here. We have beautiful paintings we can't wait to display at home, and my artist son learned a new painting technique that he was excited to try again on his own. Loved this experience, highly recommend for anyone who loves to slow down, learn something new, and carry a part of Korean art back home with them.

I had so much fun talking to Jinee. She is extremely talented and charming. I adore my painting and learnt so much about minhwa. I would highly recommend this activity.

Jinee and Moon were incredible. We had an awesome time! Jinee was so supportive and her guidance/descriptions were great and informative (with some cool anecdotes and facts along the way). The painting process was calm, and such a great idea if you want a little reset on your trip. The class is in a great location and Jinee did a great job at catering to all of us at different artistic levels and ages! I would absolutely recommend this class and would book again! Jinee and her husband are very kind, thoughtful, and hospitable. We talked a lot throughout the workshop, so the process was very enjoyable and productive. In the end, thanks to Jinee's help, we also got our own beautiful tiger paintings. You can also buy postcards or other beautiful paintings there.

It is a bit difficult to find it so make sure you get very good instructions. The area is unbelievably picturesque. The hills and stairs are treacherous so wear very comfortable sneakers. As soon as we walked into her studio, we knew that we were in a magical place. Jinny is an incredible talent. Her art should be in museums! We wanted to buy everything in there. She was very patient and explained everything and demonstrated and helped with the paintings. She explains the history, the natural ingredients she uses to create the colors and explains the technique. We absolutely loved meeting her and her husband and made a lifelong connection. What an incredible day we had. The paintings are so beautiful and we will be framing them when we get back to the USA. They made our stay in Busan unforgettable!

Absolutely amazing experience! Highly recommend! Attended the painting class with my 80 year old mother & daughter who is in her 30’s. I believe the class would be great for any age, we all had a great time. Jinee is incredibly talented and a wonderful teacher. We walked out with three beautiful paintings. That can be accomplished by any skill level..Jinee makes it easy! During the class we were served delightful tea and received several fascinating history lessons. 10 out of 10 experience.

Booked this on a whim and it ended up being one of the highlights of our trip. Jihee and her husband are such a fun duo. She’s warm and patient, and he’s naturally funny and had us laughing the whole time. We were laughing way more than expected for a painting class, which made everything feel relaxed instead of intimidating. The class itself was great because they don’t rush you at all. My sister and I took our time, asked a bunch of questions, and just enjoyed the process. It didn’t feel like one of those touristy in and out activities. Also, the designs you get to choose from are actually Jihee’s own drawings, which I thought was really cool. Each one felt unique and not like copy paste templates you sometimes see. It was definitely worth the trip out from Seomyeon in Busan to do something different. I learned a bit about Korean art history, got to make something with my own hands, and left with a piece I actually want to keep. Would 100 percent recommend going as a small group because it just makes it more fun. Great vibes, lots of laughs, and you might even surprise yourself with what you can create. So worth it!

Absolutely amazing experience! Me and my mom loved it very much! We were lucky to be the only ones on this class that day, so it was very nice. I adore my tiger picture, he looks astonishing. Also the place was great - perfect location and really cozy interior full of the owner's arts. Definitely recommend!

Blessed to have this experience, both for the art and the company, a lovely couple full of humor and knowledge. The tiger we painted is full of humor. And they have a challenge to depict Gamcheon Village through your own eyes challenging my creativity.

This was honestly one of the most wholesome experiences of my 9-day solo trip to South Korea. Jinee was so welcoming and open, and through conversation and while painting a beautiful piece of Korean-style art, I learnt a lot about Korean culture and history. I also ended up buying a beautiful art piece made by Jinee herself, as the class is in her lovely art studio in the heart of Gimcheon culture village. Would highly, highly recommend this experience if you’re looking for the perfect combination of doing something local, artsy, and to meet some wonderful people. I absolutely loved this workshop with Kim Jinee! She was so thoughtful with her tips and patient as a teacher. Lovely to learn about the folklore of the painting and about her life as an artist. Cannot recommend this highly enough, especially as a solo tourist, it's a wonderful way to bring feeling and community to experiencing Gamcheon. And speaking of, check out the cafe and small restaurant beside Jinee's workshop, they are also AMAZING!

This was a wonderful experience! I love to paint and wanted to get more experience, and so was very intrigued when I saw this experience available. Jinee was a great teacher and was very clear in her instructions, especially with the fine details, and she and her husband were very warm and fun to talk to throughout the experience. Jinee’s workshop also has tons of beautiful paintings done by Jinee that are worth the visit alone to see. The was easily a highlight of my trip in Busan!

We absolutely loved the class! It was such a fantastic experience, and the hosts were incredibly friendly. The place has such a cozy vibe and is filled with the teacher's beautiful artwork—just spectacular! We can't wait to come back for more!

We had a great time. We learned about folk paintings while working for about two hours. (It was new for me, even though I am Korean.) The studio was nice, the instructions were kind and professional. We enjoyed Korean culture well in Gamcheon Culture Village without getting bored. Recommend it!

Jinee and her husband Moon are wonderful people. So welcoming and kind hearted. We learned so much about the art as well as history of the country and local area. We had a wonderfull experience, the teacher really made us feel at home. And in the end we both made a beautifull artwork that is better than any souvenir you could ever buy.

I really enjoyed this class and would recommend it to anyone. It is a great way to learn more about the culture and Korean art. My Mum and I did the class, and our paintings turned out better than either one of us expected. Jinee is a very good teacher and does some beautiful work. It was a very relaxing and enjoyable session. Her husband came and helped and they mounted our pictures when we finished them and they were easy to pack and take home with us. They are a lovely couple and made us feel very welcome.

Jinee was a wonderful teacher and a very talented artist. We booked the class on an impulse and it was the best thing we did in Busan. Jinee is charming and taught us about the style of work she does as well as different painting techniques. She made the class fun while helping us make pictures that we'd be proud to hang up! It really felt like she had put thought into making the experience unique for us and that she was happy to adjust the class to match what we wanted to do as well as for our skill level. Her husband is also very funny and we enjoyed their recommendations for local sights!

We've had so much fun! Jinee is a great teacher, and you wouldn't believe what you'll accomplish in just two hours with her wonderful expertise. She told us about the history of the village (which I personally loved) gave us a little intro into the Korean alphabet, and talked in general about Korea, food and other interesting things. The two hours just flew by. Her studio is full of beautiful art pieces, and you can easily find smaller pieces you can take as a gift to your loved ones, and support this wonderful artist.

We had the best time with Jinee in her wonderful Art Place in Gamcheon VIllage. We had the art inside and outside. She taught us easily the Art of ancient Korean Painting and we learnd a lot about the Materials we used and where the inspiration came from. We had so much fun to exchange cultural specialities between our countries. Jinee is such a kind and humble person. We felt so welcomed and will never forget. And our paintings really looked professional in the end :)

This was a lovely experience, which my daughter (12 years and loves painting) and I equally enjoyed. Jinee is an accomplished artist and gave us an authentic insight into Korean art and we finished two wonderful paintings which we could take home as memento of a wonderful afternoon.

We are so glad to have taken the painting class with Jinee, it took our whole Korea experience to the next level. Not only is she a great teacher, she also uses traditional materials and could tell us the interesting stories behind the traditional paintings. We had lovely chats with her and her husband, which granted us deep er insight into the country! All in all, I can whole-heartedly reccomend this course to anyone interested in Korean Art and Culture.

It was a perfect experience. I recommend it to anyone who comes to Busan and enjoys art. Jinee is a professional; her drawings are pure art, and she is a fantastic teacher. She has taught me how to mix colors, how to use them, and even recommended a store where I can buy materials to delve deeper into Korean painting. I am truly grateful; I would undoubtedly do it again a thousand times.

The teacher was absolutely adorable, she answered my questions before class via the app's message system. She took the time to explain to me a little bit the history of Korean art and the meaning of each symbol before she started. We discussed my tastes a bit and when I mentioned that peonies were my favorite flowers, she changed the model planned for a peony, just to please me. She was very patient and pleasant, taking me back nicely if necessary and always very encouraging. She was very patient and explained how to handle the different techniques for the best rendering possible. We talked a lot during the class and when I mentioned a music group I liked, she put in a playlist of their music on her own. I really appreciated that tiny gesture. It touched me a lot. I came out delighted with my activity, with a beautiful souvenir, personalized and made by myself. Very proud of my work. This is an experience I particularly enjoyed and I would recommend it without problem. Thank you again for this beautiful memory of my trip =)

Absolutely must! This painting class was incredibly entertaining, full of very nice conversations and painting was so much fun! The instructions were very patient and nice and the results are beautiful! I don't think there is a nicer souvenir from Korea or Busan. Thank you for this great experience!!
