We expected just a wine tasting, but got a fun and informative conversation with Alex, along with some lovely wines. We learned a lot about French wines, especially those in the Burgundy region, but we had a wide-ranging conversation which included recommendations for things to do in Beaune and how wines are labeled differently between France and the US.

We had an interesting, tasteful and very motivating tasting at Millesimes A La Carte. Our host gave us a pedagogic introduction to the region and the wines, combined with interesting details and sampling of the different wines. We made a mistake about the date, but they accomodated us with great flexibility the day after. Thank you! This visit was a part of my 60 years celebration, and we found a wine from 1966 which was also served. Great success:-) Highly recommended.
This tour looks expensive on the surface but you get private time with the owner who is a renouned Burgundy wine collector. He knows so much about Burgundy wines and is such a pleasant man. You get the personal touch with great 1st Crus and a Grand Cru tastings of white and reds - personalized to your preference. This collector has deep knowledge and is listed also in the top 3 places to be educated and acquire all levels of Burgundy wine at every vintage. Can’t recommend this easy going but highly educational and tasty tour enough if you want to experience the Burgundy region, get a taste of all levels of wine and have access to buy the best of Burgundy wines.
Excellent wine tasting in Beaune. So good we had to ship a case home!
Fabulous wine tasting done for the two of us Our guide was exceptional friendly and very informative The business is a father son wine shop wine experience operation and we had the son as our guide Thoroughly recommend for those who love great wine
This was a fantastic introduction to the wines of Burgundy. We shared and discussed beautiful wines and the producers and vineyards that created them.
Visited Thierry’s wine shop with a longstanding friend (girls went shopping). Excellent degustation of 3 white and 4 reds from reasonably through medium priced to high. Detailed explanation of the sub region they came from, terroir, geographical setting etc etc. Compared to many wine dégustations this was the most detailed and fascinating masterclass in burgundy. Do not hesitate to visit and learn!
Bert Well executed tasting with very good Wiens. You get an really good overview over good Wiens and our grown up children really enjoyed one of their First tastings.
We thoroughly enjoyed our wine tasting session with Alex. As we were the only 2, made this a very personal and informative experience. Alex provided great context of the different regions and the associated wines we tasted. Would highly recommend.
What a fantastic experience! I did a tasting with my parents and Terry was so informative and took things at a slow pace for us wine novices. It’s a little outside of town but well worth the visit!
We had an incredible wine tasting experience with Alex. We came in knowing almost nothing about Burgundy wines, and by the end, we felt like we had a real understanding of the region. What really stood out was how approachable and engaging Alex was. He explained everything clearly, in a way that was easy to follow without ever feeling oversimplified. We asked all kinds of basic questions, and he answered every one of them with patience and zero judgment, which made the whole experience relaxed and enjoyable. You can tell he’s deeply knowledgeable, but what makes him exceptional is his ability to share that knowledge in a way that actually sticks. We left not only having tasted great wines, but also with a much deeper appreciation and understanding of Burgundy. Highly recommend this experience, especially if you’re new to wine or just want to learn in a welcoming environment.
Our wine guide Alex was so knowledgeable and friendly. We had a really delightful time and met a lovely couple who joined us. The wines were outstanding and of great variety. This is not a typical one domaine tasting. The shop is not in city center with lots of tourists. It is very nicely priced especially for the selection of wines. We highly recommend a visit to the shop for an intimate experience.
As wine novices, we really appreciated the wonderful overview of Burgundy wines Thierry provided. We tasted three whites and four reds, and it was a true pleasure to discover the subtle nuances and identify our personal preferences. Thierry was incredibly patient in answering all our questions, which gave us a much deeper understanding of wine!
Wonderful experience! Wine tasting guided by a very knowledgeable and interesting gentleman. We thoroughly enjoyed our degustation and also learned a great deal. Drinking the truly magnificent wines of Burgundy will never be the same again for us. This tour is a must for any visitors to Beaune.
Sensational tasting experience. You can learn so much about the entire region in this one tasting experience from kind, patient, knowledgable guides. I will highly recommend this to anyone visiting Burgundy. It was wildly generous and informative.
A very unexpected experience and not like any tasting Mary and I have ever done. Thierry, the proprietor of the shop where the tasting was done, only book an individuals or couples. He says he does this to “keep the information flowing smoothly.” About this he was very accurate. Over the next two hours or so, we received what could pass for a Master Class in the wine of Burgundy. With each of seven (!) wines, Thierry first introduced, then left us to form our own impressions, rather than telling us what we would smelling/tasting. He would then return, listen to our reactions and respond in a way that built our knowledge from one wine to the next. He was very serious and incredibly passionate about this product about which he has spent his entire adult life learning. He constantly encouraged us to talk about what we were experiencing, and used our thoughts to lead us to a deeper understanding. We consider the tasting (and we told Thierry this) to be a privilege, rather than a purchased event.
Well-organized presentation by knowledgeable, patient and very friendly "guide," fluent in English. We all learned a lot!!!
Fabulous wines and a thoroughly fascinating talk with Alex. Well worth it if you want to try some of the region’s finest wines, particularly if you’d like the tasting explained in English. Really top notch wine knowledge
It was very informative. Alex obviously has a passion for what he does and did his best to educate us in the short time he had with us.
Fluent Englishspeaking lecturer Thierry was very good and were able to give us a good high level lecture on the wines of Bourgogne. We had plenty of time and were able to taste and discuss all the wines
Alex provides a great tasting and is very knowledgeable about Burgundy wines. He is open to questions and will answer all of them. This was a very nice tasting because it focused on the Grand Cru and Premier Crus of Burgundy, all things that would be difficult to taste outside of the region. Alex did a fantastic job of curating some very different wines so we could see the expressions of individual winemakers. We were able to take our time and truly reflect on the wines before Alex told us more about them. I really appreciated the notes to guide the tasting. Overall, this is a great way to experience Burgundy wines, whether you know a little or a lot. The shop has some very interesting wines, including old vintages, at very reasonable price points. It’s worth spending some time here.
Wonderful personalized experience--suitable for all levels of wine drinkers. It is located in a fabulous wine store.
Wonderful wines and the owner Terry was very helpful. Lots of questions answered during our visit. We bought wines from him!!
Wonderful experience- we learned so much from Thierry about wines of the region and their history and production. He was so genial and knowledgeable and gave us time to savour the delicious wines he gave us to taste. With 3 whites and 4 reds - 4 premiere crus and 3 grand crus - we thought it was good value for money. Highly recommend!
Great tasting - he calibrated to our levels of knowledge of wines and wine country. We are somewhat knowledgeable but far from experts. We tasted some very fine wines and learned our preferences of Burgundy wines in a single tasting, without chasing around the countryside. We ordered some well-priced small batch Montrachet wines to be shipped.
A wonderful intro to all things French wine and a super fun afternoon with Alex who was incredibly knowledgeable and personable. Incredible selection of wine. It’s off the main downtown area in Beaune and definitely worth the trip!
Theirry shared an invaluable amount of knowledge beyond expectation. He and his son have a wealth of experience that they were more than happy to share. Having a private session allowed us to ask specific questions to our desire of knowledge. This is the best winetasting experience I have ever had and I have been on many. I highly recommend.
An excellent chance to both taste wines and learn so much about the region, the history, and wine making from a wine expert
Alex who hosted us is very professional so it’s nice to here him explaining about wines not as a wine maker but as someone with vast knowledge and expertise
One of the best tastings we’ve done. Great explanation of the region, the varietals, and the terroirs. Perhaps most importantly, Alex poured eight lovely wines, four of which were Grand Crus. Pacing was perfect. Would say our session is great for people who know something about wine and want to learn more about Burgundy. No doubt he’d also do well with beginners. And they ship!
Great experience. Thierry was friendly and well informed. Learned a lot We would highly recommend the tasting. He was obviously extremely experienced but also very approachable. Thank you Thierry!
Alex was an excellent, knowledgeable host. We tasted wonderful Grand Cru and Premier Cru wines as advertised. I have a much better appreciation of Burgundy wines now.
Alex was a great communicator and very knowledgeable about the Burgundy region. Really enjoyable experience from start to finish. My friends thought it was a great experience and a wonderful introduction to Burgundy wines.
We learned so much about Burgundy! Alex is very knowledgeable about wine and the wines of the Beaune area. He spent 2 hours with us as we tasted wine and learned about their production. This is a perfect couples activity. We had the best time. Make sure you book this wine tasting it's worth it!
It was overall an interesting experience, great wines. We were disappointed, however, by the educational value - the amount of information provided by the guide, Thierry, seemed minimal and not really tailored to our level (relative beginners). He was also for most part serving simultaneously us and another couple, and seemingly spending more time with them (as they may had appeared more likely potential buyers). The degustation cards provided were not helpful at all - at least they should have included the list of terms required for that or some kind of guidelines.
Very nice wine tasting. Host Thierry was very engaged and learned us a lot about Burgundy wines, the differences and specifics from every area. Much appreciated!
My wife and I purchased the Burgundy wine tasting (4 whites and 4 reds). Alex led us through the tasting and we learned quite a bit about the soils and locations in Burgundy. I highly recommend this tasting to anyone that wants to taste great expressions of the wide variety of wines from Burgundy.
Alex provided an excellent selection of white and red wines. He explained the regions, the aging process and the difference in the tastes of the wines. Each one was an individual with its own personality and notes. I enjoy understanding the development of the wines, the effects the soil, the grapes es and the regions it comes from and how that affects the flavor and personality of the wine. If I could have a wine cellar Alex would be choosing my wines.
Great experience! It our first time visiting the wine tasting facility. We arrived and met our guide. He is a very respectful and nice person. He placed us around the table and told us the histories of 8 different Burgundy wines. He would pure some wine into our glasses after each story. Also he gave us a questionnaire regarding each wine we tasted. He is a very knowledgeable person and he definitely helped us learning much more about the wines we are familiar with and about the wines we have not tasted before! Great experience and a unique opportunity to purchase a bottle of wine in his wine store located within the same building.
Extremely friendly and knowledgeable staff. 8 wines to taste, only grand and premier crus. I don’t have a chance to try 200 euro bottles of wine (a store price, NOT the US restaurant price) very often. The place is a bit out of the way, almost a mile from the city centre, but to taste similar quality wines in downtown will cost you 2-3 times more.
You never know what you may be buying at this price in this region! - But this was one of the best wine tasting experiences we have ever been to. We tasted premier and grand cru Burgundy wines which we would never normally get to try, and gained an understanding of the regions and the differences between the younger and more developed wines. A great host with a fascinating personal knowledge how the marketing of Burgundy wines has developed. Quite simply, "making sense of Burgundy", for a couple who had never got to grips with it before. Thoroughly enjoyed and thoroughly recommended.
We tasted 8 different wines. Our host was definitely an expert and told us not only about tasted wines, but about the Burgogne area and its wines in general. It was really interesting! The visit was a little expensive but in my opinion we got value for the money: the wines we tasted were of high quality, the visit was operated professionally and we got plenty of information. We bought some wine as well. Our host was very friendly and spoke english very well. Thank you for the experience!
Such a great experience even as people who don't know much about wine!! We learned so much and had such good conversation. The wine was amazing and we could've stayed all day!
Thierry is a great host, very knowledgeable. We had ours on a Saturday morning we we were the first ones here. Thierry was relaxed and we started as soon we all of us were ready. We certainly will recommend this to our family friends back home.
Very informative, great experience. I would highly recommend, if visiting the region. The host was delightful and knowledgeable.
It was a first rate tasting of some of the best wines in Burgundy. Very personal, informative, but not overwhelming. Learned a lot, including how to quickly decode Burgundy wine bottle labels. Went home with some bottles we tasted. Well worth it.
Informative, casual wine tasting. We were not rushed and had plenty of privacy to discuss our wines. Our host answered questions and even made a great suggestion for lunch!
Eight great selections, pours big enough to get a decent taste, Alex a great explainer/discussant in French or English. Great. Because they're vendors not a wine producer, you get a sample from across the region.
We had a great time and learned so much! Alex was a wonderful and incredibly knowledgeable host. He answered all of our questions with ease, precision, and spoke with great authority. The wine was also excellent, and we would recommend this private tasting to anyone!
Tasting of 4 Chardonnay and 4 Pinot Noir. Well oriented tasting. Nice experience in Beaune, the capital of Burgundy wine region.
