Johan was excellent. Extremely knowledgeable and took great care to explain, translate (thank you), and structure the day for us that made for a wonderfully enjoyable experience. We were able to taste some very good premiere and grand cru wines and leave with a greater understanding of the complex Burgundy classification system. It was a very, very relaxed experience and Johan was integral to the success of the day. His relationships with the wineries and winemakers definitely created a very unique and bespoke experience for us. Would definitely very highly recommend.

Our tour guide Paul was very knowledgeable about the history of Burgundy. He also had a very pleasant demeanor and was very accommodating about stopping for photos at some of the iconic sites. The lunch was also exceptional and quite relaxed. The two wineries that we had tastings, although very different, both poured wines that were steeped in the tradition of Burgundy and were outstanding.
This private tour was wonderful! Our guide, Stefan, was so knowledgeable and professional and made this tour extra special! The two vineyards we went to were so different and the wine was excellent! This tour is definitely worth the price and your time! We will remember this day as one of our favorite vacation trips!
Marie was a wonderful guide who took us throughout Burgundy all day. We were fortunate enough to see harvest going on in the vineyards, and see processing at one of the stops where we tried wine. All the wines we tried were superb, with a great stop for lunch. An amazing experience and fantastic day!
We had the private full day tour with Thomas. We had a great day tasting some memorable wines and learnt a lot about the region and the wines. An excellent lunch stop with some fine dining and the biggest wine list we’ve ever seen. The whole trip arranged by Grape Escapes was excellent.
What an incredible tour! We did a full day private tour with Antonin, and it exceeded our expectations. Some in our group know quite a bit about wine, but Antonin’s knowledge and passion for wine blew us away. He gave us an appreciation for the land by walking through vineyards and giving us information about the history and geography of the region. He also introduced us to small winemakers and gave us the opportunity to experience tasting rooms with multiple producers. Highly recommend!
We had the most amazing wine tour with Romain and Authentica tours. Everything was planned perfectly to make sure we had the most unbelievable experience. Romain is a knowledgeable and friendly Burgundy expert. We enjoyed spending the day visiting wineries and tasting amazing wines. I appreciated that Emmanuel was available before the tour to help with logistics and organizing to make sure we had the best tour.
Excellent communication and organization with Tour Operator, Authentica Tours, from the moment we booked. They answered all of our questions in a timely manor and honored our request for Tour Guide Thomas, who respected our wish to taste Pinot Noirs rather than Chardonnays. Thomas arrived right on schedule and transported us in a clean, spacious and very comfortable Mercedes vehicle. He was a wealth of knowledge and keen on learning of our existing wine knowledge so as to keep things at an appropriate level of understanding yet elevating us to know more. And just as previous reviews state, Thomas did not disappoint with his sense of humor, which added so much to the experience we felt! The tastings were fabulous and at such different venues from one another. So nice that this tour included a terrific lunch with Grand Crus (ours at Compte Senard) and a quick stop to tour Chateau de Clos de Vougeot. We ended our tour tasting great reds in a cellar in Beaune. Thomas translated all that was said into English for us (he speaks both French & English fluently) and we purchased a favorite there for a later toast to a great splurge for our 40th Anniversary! Many thanks to Thomas, Authentica, & TripAdvisor!
Leonie shared extensive wine, food, and culture information. She was thoughtful and kind. We had a fabulous day in Burgundy!
Thomas delivered an absolutely unforgettable experience, guiding us through the very best of Burgundy with an incredible journey through Côte de Nuits and Côte de Beaune! His deep knowledge, contagious enthusiasm, and personal touch made every moment special and set this tour apart. As an avid wine lover who has taken many similar tours worldwide, I can honestly say this was the best tour ever! We can't wait to come back for more!
The guides were passionate and knowledgable. We learnt a lot from them particularly the area and the terroirs of the place. Our guides Thomas and Leonie are very experienced and passionate and willing to share their knowledge about wines. We enjoyed the tour lead by them and my kids loved them very much. Will definitely recommend to join their tour especially Thomas.
Er BS 23 reviews·28 photos 11 hours ago NEW Guides Thomas and Leonie were so delightful, considerate and at the pinnacle of service/hospitality industry. Vans were clean. Child booster seats, drinking water were prepared, and driving was safe (most would take these for granted). Interesting, educational and interactive commentary and they were systematic with information dissemination. We were so glad we organised this winery tour with Authentica, and had Thomas and Leonie as guides.
Very good experience with a very good leader. A bit more time during lunch break would be appreciated, so we could walk around the village.
Elsa was very knowledgeable and fun! A very enjoyable day visiting three tasting rooms, one shop and two Dme. The first and third were very nice wines, the second stop was great lunch food (though not as good wine).
Was good for a day trip but not worth the price. First stop was lovely. Our guide was very experienced in the wine industry and gave us plenty of information and shared a ton of knowledge with us. Second stop was to a private wine dealers cellar. That was wonderful and quiet and private and we were able to taste all sorts of different wines and our guide shared a ton of insight with us. Third stop was for lunch. Meal was wonderful, the girl who served us the meal and tasting was excellent , spoke perfect English and shared all of her insight on the family and vineyards with us. Last stop was to a newer, larger scale winery. Quick tour of the winery and a small tasting in the basement. The reason for my three star review. - was definitely not worth $1000 CAD pp -no water was offered to us in the vehicle before or between wineries, which would’ve been nice -our guide was late to pick us up at the lunch winery and then showed up after seeing us sitting and waiting and asked if we minded if he had a coffee first… which we said, ok… but what else were we supposed to say? -we popped into a place at the end so our guide could see a lady he fancied… not part of the itinerary and seemed pretty unprofessional -all in all, we’ve travelled to a lot of places and done a lot of tasting experiences, and this one was the most expensive, we really hoped for a more professional experience and this one was lacking that
My favorite part??? Everything!!! This was a long-anticipated trip to Burgundy with family and friends to celebrate my wife's birthday (a big one ending in a zero), and this tour was the highlight of our week. While the agenda was perfect, our guide, Thomas was superb, and really made our day. What a great combination of knowledge, wit, personality, and professionalism! We got a history lesson, a wine lesson, a geography lesson, and more wine lessons. The day could not have been better. The tour included stops at 3 wineries and a very good lunch with very nice wine pairings. Thomas included a couple of "detours" so that we fully understood the region. To me, Burgundy is a bit difficult for most people to understand, but our group left feeling like they had learned a lot, and in a couple of cases, began to really understand the wines of the region. Thanks Authentica and a very special thank you to Thomas. I might add that Thomas's English skills are excellent, making communication easy, we also learned that he speaks 6 1/2 languages; that's 5 1/2 more that we have mastered.
Authentica went the extra mile to facilitate our group of 10. Pick-up and delivery at our hotel in Dijon on time. Our guide, Paul, an experienced sommelier and wine dealer showed great knowledge and was more than happy to answer our many questions. Tasted 15 wines incl 6 grand crus at three different producers including one with a full 3 course excellent lunch. All in all an impecable service and tour, highly recommended and worth every cent. Thank you.
Jeremie was so knowledgeable and personable. He even made a dinner reservation for us. The experiences at the tastings were great. The only suggestion would be to add water between the wines to cleanse the palette. The countryside was beautiful
We had a wonderful day, the tour was beyond our expectations and our guide Hubert was magnificent. Huberts knowledge of Burgundy wines was encyclopedic and imparted in an interesting and friendly manner. Great overview of Cote de Beaune and Cote de Nuits.
From the moment Leonie met us in Beaune we knew we were in for a great day. Our first tasting in Nantoux was exceptional. As tourists, we would never have found this vineyard, Charles Père et Fille. Pauline, one of the two sisters who run this family business, shared her love of their climats and wines. Then to lunch in Gevrey-Chambertin at Domaine Trapet - a fabulous meal featuring Boeuf Bourguignon and of course a selection of wines. Next came a guided tour of Chateau Vougeot, with the final act a visit to a private cellar for some more exceptional wines. All along the way, Leonie shared her knowledge of and passion for this region, it’s wines, and its people.
Jerome led the tour and he is a star. Deep knowledge about wines, well connected, great communication.
We thoroughly enjoyed our full day wine tour with Thomas! He was very knowledgeable, friendly, and upbeat. Everything was paced well. We had a terrific day and learned a lot.
This was the highlight of our trip to France! We visited world class wine cellars, sampled amazing wine, enjoyed an wonderful traditional French lunch, and learned so much about Burgundy thanks to Team Authentica. We added Emmanuel and Nicolas to our address book for future visits!
The Burgundy tour was outstanding! The transportation and entire schedule were all excellent. Our guide Léonie was extremely knowledgeable and executed all details to perfection! We will never forget this experience to wonderful Burgundy. Merci beaucoup!
Our second day of wine tours we were met by Jeremie as he picked us up at our hotel. Jeremy assessed our knowledge from day before and adjusted our tour based upon this information. Jeremie knowledge not of just the region but of the winemakers and their different styles helped us understand the subtle nuances of the wines. It was amazing as he was spot on when telling us about the wine. We started out our day at Domaine Marguerite Carillon and met by the the most energetic and fantastic guide in Sarah (Lee). Sarah’s passion and positive energy made it so fun. We were the first to experience a brand new tasting room which she designed and was beautiful. We tasted a variety of whites and reds. All were good and it was a hard decision on what and how much to purchase. Next we went to Compte Senard where we had a wonderful lunch and again great tastes including a taste of the 1999 Gran Cru Monopole Corton Clos de Meix. WOW!!! Next we went on a private tour of the 12 century castle Chateau de Clos de Vougeot. Last stop was La Cave Priveè, Jeremie wine club. All local winemakers not available outside o France and he shared some special bottles. What a way to end the day. Thank you Jeremie. Highly recommend. Z&S
I had a great tour - Elsa was very well informed, lovely to chat to and was very welcoming. I learnt a lot on my tour, tasted great wines and had some good food as well. Thank you for organising a great activity to see the Burgundy wine region!
Great way to spend the day in Bourgogne. Jeremy was very knowledgeable and friendly. It was a good crash course in the wines of the area.
Fabulous day! We debated when booking on the price but read the reviews and we can only agree if you only do one thing in the region do this tour ! Hubert, our tour guide, was exceptional… extremely knowledgeable and made us feel so at ease. The Wines were exceptional and the lunch as well Thank you to Hubert….you gave us an unforgettable wine experience
We had a wonderful tour. Our guide Thomas was very knowledgeable and shared his expertise while never making us uncomfortable. He combined his lesson with some good sense of humor. Thank you very much.
Thomas is an absolute wine master and extraordinary guide! Under his tutelage we learned so much about the wines of Burgundy from Côte de Nuits and Côte de Beaune. He guided us through unique wine tastings in ancient cellars and family wineries with dazzling premier and grand crus. Our day was so enjoyable with lots of laughs and a delicious lunch among the picturesque vines. Upon purchasing some of our favorites, he also assisted with making the shipping a seamless, easy process. We would HIGHLY recommend Thomas to anyone looking for a fun-filled day of learning and tasting some of the worlds best wines. Amazing day, totally bananas ;)
We were fortunate to come to France during July 2021 and take a tour of Burgundy with Hubert. He spoke fluent English and was full of incredible knowledge about the region, wine and country. We had a great time tasting a variety of wines, including Grand Cru & Premier Crus. Additionally, we had lunch at a private wine estate and literally had the BEST beef bourguignon ever. We would highly recommend this wine tour to anyone who is a wine lover and is looking for more in-depth education about Burgundy!!
My sister and I had the most wonderful day in Burgundy...thanks to Sebastien and Authentica Tours! It was a perfect combination of learning and experiencing the local culture and tasting the most delicious food and wine. Sebastien was the perfect guide...friendly, professional, and extremely knowledgeable. Our tour was the highlight of our stay. Highly recommend!
My husband and I were highly impressed with Authentica - from the initial questions, booking, the day of, and even afterwards. We decided to do the grand cru of burgundy, which was a full day. Sebastian was our tour guide and we honestly couldn't have had a a better guide of burgundy. Sebastian is a highly knowledgeable sommelier who has an extensive background in the wine business. He was patient with all our questions and his interest and knowledge truly showed throughout the tour. I would highly suggest booking with Authentica - it is well worth the price. Definitely one of our favorite parts of our trip!
4 of us spent an unbelievable day with Jeremie visiting Burgundy. Jeremie was outstanding in that he was informative, learned they style of wines we preferred, organized the day to taste those wines, and went out of his way to show us the area. Not only did we learn a great deal but we now have an avenue to purchase more Burgundy in the future! Finally, Authentica assisted us with shipping and all wines arrived in perfect shape. I highly recommend a full day tour from Autentica for anyone visiting Burgundy.
My wife and I spent a wonderful two days with Ann from Authentica. We were picked up promptly on the first morning in one of the company’s Mercedes 4x4s and given a thorough explanation of the region, history, geology and wine types as she drove us through the terroirs to our first tasting. From the secret doors to exclusive tastings with the wine makers (and one lunch) through to helping with consolidating the wines we wanted to purchase and ensuring they were shipped back to the UK, everything was seamless with nothing appeared left to chance. This was indeed a first class experience from a slick organisation with highly knowledgeable employees. We cannot recommend them highly enough.
My wife and I plus another couple just returned from our trip to Burgundy and Paris. While in Burgundy, our travel agent had booked us on private winery tours on two separate days. First day was in Cote de Beaune, and the second day was in Cote de Nuits. Thomas was our guide on both days. He was fabulous. In addition to showing us all the various popular spots, he was extremely knowledgeable as well as entertaining. Tasted some fabulous Whites and Reds, had some great meals for lunch, and would recommend Thomas and Authentic.
My fiancee and I enjoyed every minute of our tour and tasting with our amazing guide and expert- Thomas T. We learned so much about the region, the wine and the history. Thomas showed us as much as possible and made it fun for us. It was like spending the day with a good friend. He truly made the experience memorable. Authentica Tours did an excellent job from start to finish. Highly recommend!
We went for the full works and weren’t disappointed. Ann, our Belgian guide for the day turned up on time and remained enthusiastic all day (9:30-18-30). Having some wine knowledge through WSET she was able to easily adapt and provide us with loads of knowledge you can’t learn in the classroom. Ann has not only incredible knowledge of the region but wine in general. Our day started with a winery tour followed by a tasting in the barrel rooms, wines were excellent including a number of aged Grand Crus. A short drive through some of Burgundy’s stunning villages took us for lunch at Comte Senard in Aloxe-Corton which was stunning, the Boeuf Bourguignon was exceptional. A tour of the DRC vineyards in Vosne-Romanée and Clos Vougeot was followed by an amazing tasting at the Burgundy Wine Club in Fixin including a number of aged Grand Crus. We were able to buy wines at all stops but none were forced and all the people we met were genuine and lovers of their craft. A super day with ample wines, I would definitely do another tour with Authentica.
We have a great tour in the burgundy region with our guide Thomas; We learned a lot of the region and of the white wines produced I would especially thanks our guide for the help with my wife and for his super explanation
Thank you very much for the wonderful tour yesterday. Everything was perfect, only because of Jeremie, my guide. I learned so much. Please thank him again for me. The tastings were so nice, I had never tasted a Grand Cru before. I also got to meet so many wonderful and nice people. Lunch was delicious in an old chateau like setting with the fire place going. As a lover of Pinot Noir it was great to visit it's home. It was a dream come true, once in a lifetime kind of experience. Highly recommend Authentica Tours for your Burgundy experience, don't think anyone can do it better.
I took this tour because I am into wine and it's so expensive and difficult to taste burgundy in the US. Now, I won't claim that this wasn't an expensive tour - but I do think what we got was worth more than we paid. First, we had our own extremely knowledgeable tour guide who took us around to the different areas and told us about all the different vineyards, climats, and terroirs. Second, we had 3 wonderful tastings at 3 very different places - one in a wine club, another in a restaurant with a delicious meal, and a third down in the cellar of a winery. Each had it's own charm, and the wines were very different. At the end of the day we'd tasted 24 high quality wines - almost all 1er and grand cru wines. The wines were on-the-fly changed to meet our tastes, and the guide hit exactly all of the wine regions and requests that we'd made at the time of booking. What a great day! I walked away finally able to understand some of the differences between Burgundy wines - Pommard vs Volnay, Mersault vs Chassange-Montrachet, etc. I even made new discoveries about specific crus that I had a taste for (Chambolle-Musigny). A+
What a fantastic day. Thomas was our guide on this private tour. He is highly knowledgeable of the wine, the area and the wineries. We totally enjoyed our time. We also enjoyed some very good wines as well as an excellent lunch. The grand crus as well as premier crus are all on the menu. It was very interesting to attempt to understand the differences. We were there just as harvesting was beginning. So there was a lot of activity. I would highly recommend this tour for anyone interested in understanding and tasting the wines of Bourgogne.
Everything was great, except the weather but nothing could be done about it :). The wine cellars were pleasantly cool. Fortunately the AC in the vehicle was working well too. We learned a lot about Burgundy wines from Thomas. He also gave us buying recommendations and warned of pitfalls of buying expensive Grand Crus. He also went above and beyond in entertaining our 7 year old daughter, which is a tough job.
We were a group of 7 and everything work perfectly right from the start when Hubert, our guide, picked us up at our hotel in Puligny-Montrachet. The wine tour with Hubert was outstanding and very educational. He is very knowledgeable, very polite and his English is very good. We could not be happier with the wine tour. We were also very happy with the restaurant selected for lunch and the vehicle used. Highly recommend this private tour. It's worth every penny!
The day was perfect! From the train ride out to Beaune, which was so easy to navigate, to meeting our guide, lunch in a quaint private cafe to the many private tastings of at least 20 different wines from the Burgundy region. We couldn’t have imagined a better guide, he was very knowledgeable on every level of producing wine and the history of the region. I recommend this tour to everyone who is in Paris. A great getaway for the day!! It’s a long day but so worth it!! I would love to stay in the area for a few days on our next trip to the region. Enjoy!!
We took this tour on April 16th and our guide was Jeremie. This company was extremely professional, and the tour was personalized and not canned at all. Our guide, Jeremie, is also a sommelier, and his love of wine and passion for Burgundy was the best thing about our tour. We learned a lot, we had experiences that are not accessible to the assembly line tour companies--i.e., we were invited into the cellar of a private wine club--and are just so happy that we purchased this tour. There are cheaper options out there, but we are foodies and wine lovers, and canned tours for the masses do not suit us. This tour did, to a tee! We especially want to thank Jeremie for his role in this, as he was a fantastic guide and just a really nice person. Please tell him that his two Canadian friends thank him profusely--he made our trip so fantastic. Book this tour, you will not be disappointed!
My wife and I booked a private 'Best of Burgundy' tour in September 2017, based out of Beaune. We wanted to learn more about the history of Burgundy by way of wine. Our extremely knowledgeable and attentive guide was Jérémie. He shared so much about the history, culture, and landscape of the region, not to mention a great wine tour! I strongly recommend a day with Authentica Tours and Jérémie if travelling through Burgundy.
We started with a half day tour to the Cote de Beaune with Jeremie who a native of Dijon. He was so knowledgeable about wine, the history of the region, geology and climates. We were able to go to wonderful wineries in Beaune and Corton. It was such a pleasure to be him, that we decided to book another tour of the Cote de Nuits the next day. Then we booked one more history tour with him to the Auxois region which included the Abbey of Fontenay and many other small and beautiful medieval towns. The lunch that was included was educational as well as delicious. Jeremie truly enriched our appreciation of the region. We hope to go again since there was so much to see and do in the area and book another Authentica tour in the near future.

Our Authentica Tour with Ivan was truly a highlight of our trip to France! Our tour guide brought us to elite locations where we tasted phenomenal selections of wine. The wine caves were incredible and our lunch in a cave was awesome! We also went out in the fields to see the grapes close up. Ivan was soooo knowledgeable about the area and the wine making process. This trip was beyond our expectations and worth every single dollar! Ivan was exceptional!

Excellent tour that I highly recommend! Took a private tour with my daughter and guide Ivan was phenomenal. As a retired geologist who grew up in Burgundy, Ivan is a storehouse of knowledge about all aspects of wine, terroir and the wine business. Ivan de-mystified the complexities of burgundy for me. Nice balance of historical, geological and viticultural information, with appropriate amounts of time spent in the vineyards, driving between villages and tasting at interesting sites. Lunch, tasting and tour at Comte Senard was a highlight among highlights. THANK YOU IVAN FOR A FABULOUS EXPERIENCE!
