The tour was booked and a confirmation email was received. It said the activity will be from 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. and a meeting point was mentioned. With this description, I thought the meeting time at the ferry terminal is at 8:30 a.m. and after arrival, I was aware that the time is tge ferry time. The tour was gone but nobody called me in advance even a phone number had been given when I made the booking. A next ferry was arranged by the ferry company and I would like to join the tour group once I arrive the area, but I was told that I am not able to join snd not even the next tour on the same day due to a capacity limit. I totally do not understand why only a single person would matter. At that end I travelled the area by myself without the tour. Very bad arrangement.
Nice tour and site is well worth a visit. Wear good shoes as streets are rocky and very uneven. Only confusion was when I got off the boat—where to go next, what line to get in? But everyone was helpful. A long day but I enjoyed it.
I would give this a 0 out of 5. We pre booked our trip 4 months early and 2 days beforehand they cancelled without explanation or any alternative date that would work for us. Highly recommend not using this company or booking with them.
It's a perfect day trip. Lots to see, good food, really helpful tour guide. One thing to keep in mind is that you don't connect with the tour people until you're already in Uruguay, but as long as you know that in advance, everything is easy.
It is a charming, tranquelizing atmosphere of the old town. We would like to return back and to stay there for a couple of days.
Lots of cobblestone streets so be careful walking. Also lighthouse and some museums closed on Mondays.
Better than expected. I must say it is very well organised and informed. It is definitely worth the money. I would recommend the tour to anyone interested.
Colonia is a small town. 34k. Historic district is small and 1-2 hour orientation is good and then several hours on your was good.
Basically this was purchasing the round trip ferry ticket ahead of time. But could not get our tickets until 90 minutes before the ferry departure. Could not log into the app.
Fantastic experience. The ferry was a short trip and very efficient and comfortable. Walking tour was informative and very interesting to get an insight into Uraguay the way of life and the people. The town is beautiful.
I wanted to love this so much; but the fact that you spend 6 hours of the day trip waiting in lines, customs, slow help of foreigners while locals go through in 5 minutes made the 10 hour day quite a drag (especially on the return Uruguay side back to BA). Once you arrive; it’s cool enough to check off another new country; and the history is good - the town is so small and ordinary; that it just becomes sort of a wasted day. Opt for a flight to Montevideo or wine tasting in Mendoza instead.
Surprised to see so many negative reviews of this service but it worked for us. Booked tickets via UK website. Collected boarding tickets via booking reference 90 minutes prior to departure then 15 minutes to get though Argentina then Uruguay customs. Similar experience coming back. Comfortable seats and quiet crossing. Only negative was the disorganised queuing prior to departure.
The worst company to deal with. I reserved 2 tickets on June 24, 2025 for July 11 ,2025 and when I checked my CC amount charged was Ridiculous High. 227.00 Dollars for 2 RT to Colonial Sacramento and as of today no credit on my Acct. I sent them like 7 emails and no response
Very nice trip. Colonia is a quaint town. Everything has a history. Everyone is very nice. You can take many pics everywhere. The streets are lined with tall trees. Just pay with US dollars or Uruguay pesos. Don’t pay with Argentinian pesos, you’ll lose money
Like others have said, it’s a bit misleading. The tour part is a 1 hour overview of the area and you have the rest of the day on your own. That was fine for us but if you are alone and you have trouble walking on uneven streets , we forewarned. The Colonia de Sacramento area was nice either with many eating options. The boat trip you are on your own but follow directions and you will be fine. I was very impressed with both the Argentina and Uruguay passport control bring two desks next to each other. This made it very easy. The boats were on time. Be sure to check in 1.5 hours early as instructed.
Can be done without a guide . It's easy to do guide does not add much value take the boat and do it.
-I honestly don’t know what I paid for in here: There was absolutely NO ONE at the ferry terminal in the morning, so you basically pay a big fee just to get the the ferry ticket. And that is all that is included to this ‘unforgettable day tour’ -in the description it said that there would be a walking tour included? There was absolutely no walk tour. I tried to text the operator twice to ask about that… This is a complete scam from TripAdvisor to even allow them to sell this tour. When there was no answer (in the 6 hours that we spent there and tried to get any contact???) we eventually took the earlier ferry back and paid for it on our own for 90 USD. So make yourself a favorit and don’t use this.
The guide was very knowledgeable about local history and culture, and was graceful working with both languages in the group—English and Portuguese. She gave some great recommendations for Uruguayan music. Lunch at ¡Que Tupé! was excellent—delicious ravioli! I stumbled onto the origami museum and loved it!
Colonia is a quiet beautiful town but you will spend more time on this day tour at both ferry terminals than you will in town. Lourdes was a wonderful tour guide full of information and gave us the best advice to be back at the ferry terminal in Colonia 1.5 hours prior to departure. Good thing as the lines were wrapped around the inside of the building and no one provided any information as to what line was for what/who. Eventually after standing in line we got in the foreigner line which took forever especially when the 7 or so immigration officials cleared all of the Argentinian and Uruguayan passengers first who then boarded the boat. There were only 4 officials processing the foreigners with the other 7 officials who had done the residents not helping at all. Disappointing and the ferry company should invest in some signage so folks can figure things out.
Colonia is a beautiful little town and well worth the visit. The ferry is fantastic. Our guide was knowledgeable. This is a very brief tour designed that give an overview of the history of the town. Directions as to what to do, where to meet the guide, how to get tickets, etc., were not at all clear. Communication was in Spanish, but we booked an English speaking tour. None of the instructions below were given. So we had to find out by trial and error. If you choose this tour, take your Trip Advisor confirmation with bar code and go to the Colonia Express ferry terminal. Go to the check in window to get your ferry ticket. Keep that ticket. You will be turning it in when you return to the ferry building in Colonia after your tour and they will give you your return ticket. It is important to arrive about 90 minutes early as the lines become very long. Once you have your ticket, get your n the Embarque line to go through customs. When you go through customs to check out of Argentina, afterward you need to go to the Uruguay window to get stamped and check in to Uruguay, which all happens in the same area in the Buenos Aires ferry building. If you don’t speak Spanish, you may miss the instruction to go to the Uruguay window. Your guide will meet you at the ferry building in Colonia. You need to go to the Colonia Express tour desk toward the front of the ferry building in Colonia to let them know you have arrived. Then the guide will meet up with the group at a designated spot. I would suggest having the guide go outside after the group gathers to start talking instead of talking in the building. It was virtually impossible to hear her because of the noise and echo in the lobby of the building. Once outside, we could hear very well, but we’d missed instructions and information that was communicated indoors. Wear comfortable shoes since there is a fair amount of walking on uneven surfaces. It is well worth it though! We loved stopping at the little outdoor cafe near the church and having lunch.
Operator canceled this tour. We booked river crossing passage ourselves. Once we arrived in Colonia we saw the highlights previously identified in our own search. The city is easily explored on foot. The people and food are great, though the food is more expensive then Argentina. You clear Uruguayan customs in Argentina, and it is no big deal.
You can do this on your own. Get ferry tickets in advance at stand in Galeria Pacifico mall. Go early and return to BA at 16:30
Booked two days before and no one showed. Paid for two and there was no one at the ferry service for the tour. A SCAM. When speaking to customer service the official word from local agent was that I booked last minute?? Two days prior to tour and I booked last minute. What a joke. This company running a day trip from Argentina to Uraguay is literally collecting monies and running away. This company has no idea who is in process of investigating their operations. I am assured they will not be in business long. Don't book with them.
There is no tour, there is no tour guide! You pay your money and then are told to go the ferry terminal, where nothing happens. The ferry service has no record of your reservation, you are just screwed. Very poor communication! I have done many others good tours with Viator, but this could be my last!!!!!
If you think this is a 2 way ferry with full day tour, you’re wrong. It is 2 way if you are fast enough (I’ll explain in a bit) and the tour itself is less than 45mins! On the way there, the ferry took 3 hours plus instead of 1-1.5 hours (it depends on who you ask). This didn’t account for the waiting time for the ferry terminal staff to start work. Was contacted by the operator to arrive 1.5hours before departure. Mine’s the 8am or 815am ferry depending on where you look at the booking (inconsistent timing). Anyway I arrived at 630am but the staff have not started work. I got in line and many others soon followed. At least 40-60 of us in line by the time they started work at 7am. There were “auto check in” machines around but not a single person was successful in checking in. When I finally got my tickets, the name and passport number were incorrect. Counter staff gave a really cold and unsympathetic response saying she only printed the ticket and the error was made during booking. There’s no way I would make that kind of mistake because I checked and wouldn’t make multiple mistakes in a single booking. Anyway she directed me to the cashier counter which also does reservations to make the correction. I was third in line at the cashier counter and gave up on waiting as it took too long and I was afraid that I would miss my ferry. There was no information on the boarding time, was only told to go through the immigration immediately by the previous lady. Long story short, I got through with the error on my ticket. I guess nobody checks the ticket for accuracy? On the way back, my ferry was supposed to leave at 430pm. Again, ferry ticket had mistakes but that was the least of my problems. At 430pm, the ferry was still not at the dock. The staff made multiple announcements stating the ferry will be coming soon, in 15mins, then 1hour then 30mins, then... no announcements. Mostly in Spanish so I had to rely on random but helpful translators. Finally, the ferry arrived at around 8pm. And guess what? 815pm was the last ferry out. I can’t help but think that they have combined the return trip ferries for cost savings. They should have told people and allow folks to make alternative arrangements such as buying a ticket from Buquebus which didn’t have any issue with punctuality. Unfortunately, they misinform. And it didn’t help that we were all in the area after immigration which didn’t allow us to leave to buy alternative ferry tickets. And the Buquebus staff who barely spoke English wouldn’t even entertain. Only commented that the ferry is full which I doubt as Buquebus had big ferries and the number of people who boarded didn’t look like it would fill the entire ferry. When the Colonia ferry finally arrived, we had way more people trying to get on the tiny ferry. So what do you do? Everybody rushed to try to get on, the staff didn’t do a count of the number of passengers, all I know was the ferry was packed and some passengers couldn’t get on. It was chaotic, emotions run high, the military police was brought in etc. we eventually left at 9pm and arrive in BA in 1hr 15min. It was an intense ride back. I sat near the exit, eyeing on the life vests, ready to grab and rush out in case the ferry sinks. By the way, there was a guy who missed his flight out from BA. The sad thing was that he bought the return ferry ticket on the same afternoon and was told or lied to about the delay. Long story short, the company basically lied to him, telling him the ferry was delayed by 45mins and it would depart at 515pm instead, giving him time to catch his flight. In total, the delay was about 4.5 hours (270 minutes), longer than the actual ferry ride (2x 75 = 150 minutes) and the walking tour is 45minutes. Really despicable of this company.
This is a good experience, to know another country, if you are in Buenos Aires. A quiet and relaxed day, to know and experience peace. If you can go to Montevideo, do not hesitate.
Check in at the BS As port was quick and enjoyable, there are places to sit and cafeteria, you can enter mate and cookies without problem to wait until the departure time. The boat very clean and spacious, has cafe (example a 2usd cafe), free shop and exchange house. If you want seats next to windows try to climb first. The ferry left and arrived at the stipulated time. Upon arrival there is the Enterprise stand to coordinate with the guide. Although we arrived 9.30 until 10 we did not leave the terminal because they had to expect that everyone from the excursion will score. And we finished the tour on the main avenue of downtown around 12 hours. While it was good to do the guided tour to learn about the history of the city, I think it extended a lot. In theory it says 50 min, and they should take it into account since after walking a little more and eating you must return to terminal 1.30 before the departure time of the ship (in our case 18.00 hs). Which means it's less time to tour during the afternoon. My advice is that if you take the tour with a guide you should opt to go early 8.30 and return with the 8.30 and maybe encourage yourself to do the tour alone. And go in time to check in to the port of Cologne because there are two companies in the same terminal takes a long time to migrate. (There were only one staff to serve Argentines and Uruguayans)
At customs very rude person who confiscated our tickets for no reason. We have been affected by his lack of professionalism. What a shame!!
Very satisfied with a nostalgic experience tour of the Uruguayan town of Cologlia Start with an English-language guided tour of the venues where the historical artefact activation application after the once bullring can host various events. After lunch the guide revisits the ancient town again in Chinese. It tells the story of the century-old battle between Portugal and Spain, which ended in the settlement of the maritime hegemon, Britain. The tension between them. thereby creating a nation, Uruguay. There's also the beautiful town of Colomudia.
Nice walk, a very quiet Monday. Everything according to plan, good guided and the place is beautiful. The people are very friendly. It was worth 10/10.
Good service, timely and very complete information, I wrote by networks to help me with some questions and respond in the moment. Before you travel, you are sent by mail the directions before the trip. Always attentive, I recommend them.
Excellent service, the attention both in the port and on the boat is first class, a quality service, highly recommended, the staff at the service of the passenger to be able to solve a drawback I had. I recommend it 100%
Excellent service in both Argentina and Uruguay! First time traveling and the staff is very empathetic. The trip on the boat gives you the possibility of sailing sitting outside and thanks to that you could enjoy the sunrise, Colonia an experience between old and modern that dazzles you. It met my expectations, ideal to be able to relax, enjoy a full and quiet place. Every day they improve more in quality of services. Super recommend!
This tour is unmissable. Colônia del Sacramento maintains its historic appearance and is very pleasant to visit. Being Uruguay it is more expensive than Buenos Aires, but it is worth it. I bought the ticket with Colônia Ecpress, (located at Galeria Pecifico), which included a very interesting walking tour with Nataly, a great guide). I highly recommend
The truth is I have no complaints! Everything went as expected. We arrived approx 1:15 early, checked in and migrations very quickly, we had plenty of time. The trip lasted just over 1 hour, super quiet. The tour was made by Anabel who rating that she knows a lot and I highly recommend it! It is essential to value everything that is the place. In the restaurant we ate very well, they were very attentive everyone, there were few food options but you rating that everything is homemade and rich, I suggest going early for a stock theme with which they are handled. 15:30 at the latest you are asked to check in to return, you do not have enough time to travel, what is necessary. I recommend traveling to Cologne by Cologne Express!
For those who are alone the Tuor is wonderful to carry out super worth knowing the sacrament colony, I did not close the Tuor the city is quite small leaving the port super easy to get to the colony, take quiet water from wherever you are because the colony prices are high and if possible a snack if it is a walk back because in fact there is salt the value is worth eating also in a restaurant will spend in black around 100 reals. Obs I found I couldn't take water, snack more by the colony express didn't have this problem and stamped my passport.
The Enterprise Service is very poor, dirty boat and poorly kept. The river crossing to Cologne was agitated, which caused many passengers, including us, to get upset and lots of people to vomit. Until then, it's not Enterprise's fault. But the problem was that there was no information, there was no sachet for vomiting, nobody showed up to help, people threw their sacks on the floor. The crew disappeared, total silence. I went to pick up the catalog in front of my seat to see some guidance, but there was a stinking, disgusting gum. Not to mention children running by the boat in that balance situation, which I consider dangerous. On the return it was a little better, the boat was better and there were instructions passing on a TV at the beginning of the trip, but the volume was so low that no one heard. At the exit of the boat formed an absurd queue, which we later understood was to pass in the migration of Buenos Aires, surreal, they leave everyone standing in a muggy corridor, type finger, for more than an hour. Sorry, because Cologne is a beautiful city.
The landing of Colonia Express back in Buenos Aires with COVID increasing had us locked in the sleeve for more than 40 minutes to hundreds of people without air because migrations is stuck to the sleeve. In addition, the Argentines who return to Buenos Aires return to do an exhaustive migration process which is unusual, not even in Ezeiza. In Uruguay the descent was without new migrations having made it to the exit. You can't migrate being a small runner behind an unventilated sleeve. The trip on the ship was good. But everything else was like a cattle bag
is a very nice place, safe to hang out with children, arts and crafts places. very friendly people. the food dishes are plentiful, they're like for 2 people.
To be honest I have lived a wonderful experience in Sacramento Estates with Stephy and all his highly recommended staff! Excellent reception, facilities and eno-gastronomy but lets much to desire the very bad attention of Colonia Express (investor of the estate). Perhaps coinciding with a certain football rivalry with Argentina I had the fabulous idea of returning in hours of a crucial game of the World Cup Qatar and for 5 minutes I was not allowed to board. I probably ate the fine print but "Coloniia Express boys" felt the resentment! Maybe I bank it as a good Argentine I am! Of course I came back with the competition and that obviously cost me more 💵 😡To enjoy you have to know how to suffer!! 🤣🤣🤣🤣
The experience of traveling by Colonia Express is awful. The go was within normality. But the return was simply awful. The boarding was scheduled to take place at the end of the day and so the problems began. The boarding was delayed, first 30 minutes, then 40 minutes and finally about an hour and if you think you will have some employee to explain the reasons for the delay or help you, you can give up. First, because they don't exist, and second, when they appear, they only communicate in Spanish. We tried to communicate in English and Portuguese and we were completely ignored by the employee who claimed to only communicate in Spanish kkkk when a Cover appeared to help us who was a passenger like us, the employee said that the problem for the delay was migration (what about what? how long would we spend waiting? - nothing was said about it). That's a lie, because all the other companies were on board normally. After all, it was hours waiting to board, then hours waiting to land. To get an idea, the schedule was to be at the hotel at 8:00, we arrived at midnight. It's just a terrible Enterprise. If you want a quiet trip do not hire the colonia express packages, because anything can happen and you will be helpless. Go from buquebus, go from any other, but do not spoil your holidays and your rest with the incompetence of the colony express. I hope I helped. hugs.
The walks and food of choice in the restaurant. the picturesque landscape of Cologne plus the attention of the people.
Spectacular trip made to Colonia del Sacramento in Uruguay, a magical place, we will surely return.
Very good Service. I like punctuality, compliance and the rate is accessible. Uruguay seemed very nice and I was looking forward to returning one day. #Delasucurpalmundo
We love Cologne, we spent two beautiful days, resting. Very good hotel. Beautiful streets and warmth of people. Recommended for rest
It is very good to be able to travel on the deck since in Buquebus they no longer have boats that allow access to the deck which makes the trip more boring
Good afternoon. On November 17, 2019, my husband and I went to the Sacramento Colony in Uruguay from Buenos Aires in Argentina. The problem started right on the go, when the boat left, one of the engines presented a problem and the captain instead of following the journey was 1 hour trying to make the engine work. As it failed, we continued the journey, but not at full speed, we were 2 hours late and with that I lost 2 hours of my day there in Cologne. In addition, the air conditioning of the boat was so strong that it was impossible to stay inside it, I got the whole trip outside uncomfortable. Now the return was worse, because as the boat was late early, the rest of the day's trips were getting more and more late. Our departure was scheduled for 16:00, but the boat arrived in Cologne at 21:00. We stayed there waiting for the boat for 5 hours and no one gave satisfaction. We lost a day of travel. THIS TOUR WITH THE ENTERPRISE COLÔNIA EXPRESS IS NOT WORTH THE MONEY AND NOT THE TIME INVESTED. I hope you improve the service, or you will lose many customers. Thanks.
Everything perfect! The boat left on time, we arrived fast, the disembarkation super agile! The super interesting tour fulfilled everything!! Very good rates and comfortable boat, nice Mood! I'd do it again.
Horrible. I bought the package through a tourist agency (Planet Baires) for 5800 pesos (533 reais), and received the reservation. When I went with my wife they claimed that my passport was without the airport entry stamp (because I am a crew member of Enterprise Aerea). All right, but I tried to change the ride to another one and they didn't want to. I tried to get my money back and they didn't want it back. They say their mission is complete customer satisfaction, but they didn't do that to me. After I paid, I no longer exist for them. Lost money. I never come close to that Enterprise again. They must be in a lot of trouble to have to do this with the customers.
