We had a really great experience at Tango Porteño. We booked the experience with only drinks and empanadas. This was the perfect choice for us, as we had dinner plans beforehand. Our ticket included hotel pickup - it came very early and we were not yet ready, so we did not use this in the end. But it was a very easy process to book. When we were arrived we were shown to our seats with ease. There was a bottle of water and wine waiting for us on the table, which we appreciated. As we arrived a bit later than planned, our table was right at the back and the view was quite restricted. However, the staff did not mind us adjusting our seats until we had a good view. The show itself was great. There was lots to look and and a live band playing the music. The drinks continued to flow throughout the night, which was an added bonus. I read before that this was quite a touristy option, but given that we were tourists we really didn't mind that. We would prefer something grand like this over something more intimate which was recommended to us. The theatre itself was very impressive. We enjoyed the art deco style inside and outside the theatre. I would recommend this to anyone on their first visit to BA.

Definitely go to this show. It’s the best! The orchestra are divine, that’s even before discussing the dancing.
Wonderful show and vibrant. Love the dancing and story telling. Highly recommended. I would watch this again in a heartbeat.
It was simply amazing. The dancing and the entire show was first class. We chose show with preferred seating and drinks. Seats near the front and as much to drink as you want.
Loved it! The meal was incredible, and the steak was cooked to perfection. Would go again and again.
We booked the Tango Porteno show which exceeded our expectations. Great seats, great service. Would recommend
Definitely take the Tango lessons before the show! So fun! And Candela and Fabrizio were our instructors and they did an amazing job. They also performed in the show and were great dancers! If I had to give an criticism, the food was only OK. The servers were great but out of all the places we've eaten in Buenos Aires, this one fell short. I would still very much recommend this experience though!
The tango lesson before the dinner was the best, very interactive and amazing. The platea dinner was good but the waiver missed our order so we need to wait for a while to receive our entres and main plate. The chair are not very confortable for dinner and more less to see the tango show. The tango show is excellent for dancers and duration
Entertaining show with brilliant tango,s. We had VIP tickets so had good seats. Good food with excellent steak. Transfer was on time and efficient.
The tango show itself is amazing. The tour operator picked me up 1 hour late. I encourage you to see the show at Tango Porteño but cannot recommend this tour company .
Both the dinner and tango dancing performances were excellent. A comfortable shuttle easily picked up my family and I from our hotel to the theater and back. We were impressed with the delicious 3 course meal, table service, dancing and live music. The experience was the highlight of our family's visit to Buenos Aires and I highly recommend this show.
The show is quite comprehensive with excellent dancers and a singer. It is at least 2 hours. Not a place for the kids. Food is excellent. Very crowded with a 900 seat capacity.
Great time. Great lesson, amazing tango show, very good dinner with free flowing wine, beer and soft drinks
Brilliant show in a great location, choice of food for dinner was excellent, unlimited wine, water or soft drinks, waiting staff couldn’t be more helpful, each empty bottle of wine replaced with a full one, Highly recommend for excellent value beautiful theatre.
Doing the whole experience, including the dance lesson, dinner and show was worth every penny. The dance instructors were phenomenal with the whole family having a great time and learning enough of the tango to be able to 'dance' when we get home. The show was incredible and extra fun to see our instructors performing.
Good is great, service is great, show is amazing. Highly recommended to go w friends and family for a cultural experience
Tango Porteno is a must-do activity while in Buenos Aires. Those having dinner arrive 8ish and the 1.5 hour show starts at 10pm. The dancing, music, and singing where simply spectacular. You will make it back to your hotel around midnight. We opted for the VIP dinner option with transportation and it was well worth it. Attendees were mostly adults and older kids, but we did see a few younger kids. Everyone was dressed nicely.
Fantastic show...Great vibe and wine flowing! The show was spectacular. Picked up from hotel and taken back too. Well worth it.
We took the optional dance lesson. It turned out to be taught by two of the dancers who were later featured in the show. What a treat. The venue glitzy outside and 1920’s inside-very cool. We had very good seats-up above and near the back. Dinner was very good. The show starts at 10 and lasted 1.5 hours. There was a magician at about 9:15. We loved the entire evening.
Wonderful show, amazing dancers! I enjoyed it so much and would recommend to anyone visiting Buenos Aires
If you are in BA, you must go see a Tango show and this a great one to see! The hall/theatre was beautiful. We had the dinner and it was a three course meal. Recommend the bife de chorizo. Very delicious. We only had 2 options of wine to chose from. Also it’s assigned sitting so you actually sit right next to other people if it’s only 2 of you and you cannot change your seat. The show the dancers were spectacular. So much talent showcased, there was never a dull Moment
The most amazing experience! Beyond what I expected! The performance and the music, palpable, and passionate! The food exquisite! The hotel pick up and drop off Professional in on time. One of the most amazing experiences yet in Buenos Aires.
The experience is not clear if you book a show only option (without VIP or the dinner option). They should say, these seats are so high up and you will be looking down through glass barricades. There is also no option to buy a drink or water in the venue if you are not on the VIP or dinner option. If there is going to be no option of drinks for the even then this should be clear prior to arrival. We got there early but many people did not realise its first come first served on seating so the earlier you get there better the seat, this is also fine if this is communicated up front. Show great, but the experience is in my opinion better if you book dinner or VIP.
The pre-dinner show was delicious. The show itself was wonderful with a selection of dances and colourful costumes. Highly recommend.
This was so much fun! We basically had a private class with wonderful instructors, where we learned a short routine. They gave us snacks, and recorded our dancing so we could show it off to our friends on social media. The dinner and show was fun too! Definitely recommend, especially for the price.
A lovely experience. The food was great and plenty of it. The only downside for us is we normally rise earlier and eat diner earlier and so was a little late for us by time show finished. Nevertheless recommend it as something you should do when in Argentina.
The food was wonderful, we all enjoyed our meals, the wine, and the desserts immensely. The show was beautiful and fun and glamorous. What a night!
Exceeded all my expectations. The process was so smooth, on point communication, easy pick-up and drop off. The show was outstanding, the food delicious and the overall experience absolutely amazing! I would highly recommend!
Not very impressed at all. If you want to see tango dancing then don’t bother, it had too much singing , live music and not enough tango dancing I think there was a story to it but couldn’t understand Venue was ok
This was a fantastic experience. We were picked up and later dropped off at our hotel right on time. Our table was reserved for us at a great spot. The dancers were fabulous, the band was exceptional, and the other entertainment was far above expectations. The dinner was so good. Everything flavorful and the wine kept flowing. This is a must do for everyone visiting Buenos Aires.
We took the lesson + show + dinner option. We are beginners after taking some lessons and classes before coming to Buenos Aires, and the class was appropriate for both complete beginners and slightly more advanced people. I wouldn't take it if really advanced as you might end up with complete beginners. The show itself was excellent, with singing, impressive dancing, and an intermission with a gaucho-style drums and boleadoras show. We were a bit far in this large theater but could still see very well. The meal was good, with a salad, a steak or pork chop, and dessert, as well as unlimited wine. Plan to have some cash to leave a tip. The staff was a bit heavy-handed about that. Great experience altogether, even though it is obviously rather touristy.
For an evening that cost over $300AUD, it did not feel like value for money. The food was OK, it oeaked with the entrees and went downhill for mains and dessert. Nothing terrible, just average, and what you'd expect in a mass-dining theatre show. Service staff were incredibly efficient. Given the cost of tickets, the direct request for tips for service staff was a bit off-putting. At a very low estimate, (seats at table x 18 tables per section x 5 sections) they must be taking in $100k US per show. They should be paying their staff adequately instead of forcing them to rely on tips. They can do what they like though obviously. The seating however was terrible. This is where the advice comes to don't bother going if you don't pay the extra USD $10 for the VIP seats. I have attached photos of my view of the stage. I reckon I saw 20% of the show. Luckily the music was good.
The pickup wasn’t clear about the time of arrival, meaning I had to wait over an hour. The many staff at the theater couldn’t speak English and answer my most basic questions. The food was average. My chicken was like leather and had presumably been sitting on the plate for a long time. The show was OK but lacked much in the way of theatrical emotion associated with tango. The wait staff were very efficient though.
Professional, slick and captivating show. Highly recommend it. Pickupand drop off worked well except show starts at 10 NOT 9pm as indicated on ticket .
The tango show was very good, would recommend. I don’t understand Spanish and all the songs were sung in that language, but i could still feel the emotion. The dancers were excellent and the production was very well done. It didn’t seem ‘spontaneous’ and everything was staged, so maybe it wasn’t the most authentic, but it was a very good show nevertheless. Would recommend. We didn’t opt for the dinner so our seating was very far back which was a bit irritating as everyones heads were in the way, but there was no obstruction such as pillars etc. They told us to arrive by 9:30 and we came at 9:20; ideally should have come by 9:45 pm since the show started at 10. I had thought that coming earlier meant a better spot, but I don’t think that was the case since others were placed in front on different tables when they came later.
Somehow they got my booking but not that we were to be picked up so after an hour and half waiting we had to pay for taxi and missed the lesson 🙃 then we had to eat our dinner in the dark when we arrived. The show was great but then we had to find our own way to the hotel even though the manager tried to put us on a shuttle twice!!
The show and dinner were perfect. Wish I could dance. The only problem was pickup. We had paid for transportation and it turns out that the venue was across the street from the hotel. When no one showed up we walked 5min
As said by many, the quality and content of the show was v good and entertaining even if it did stretch to nearly midnight. We booked through our hotel and it wasn't ultra expensive for show+dinner+transfer from hotel and back. Down sides 1. the dinner tables at front of theatre were jammed packed together with v little space between them or for getting out to toilet and were also v uncomfortable nor was view great as you were seated at an angle 2. The photo ops with dancers were a bit grabbing and charged at $20 each photo rising to around $25 if you used credit card 3. Food was v basic - soup ok, steak big and tasty but tough, veg a bit cold and nothing special and dessert was ok probably the best and 4. The inclusive alcohol was not v free flowing - had to try hard to get attention of waiting staff who were business like but not v friendly (however request for tips was v direct)!
This show was outstanding, worth every penny! Very professional. The dancers are skilled. Loved the costumes. Three dancers with drums were unbelievably good. The food was great too. Wonderful evening.
It was our first time attending a Tango show and it just wasn’t for us. It was okay but far from spectacular. It reminded me of Charlie Chaplin with the music. We opted for the pick up.service and they arrived almost 45 minutes early to pick us up. We raced to get to the hotel where we were quick to arrive.
The show is beautifully done, and definitely worth going to if you like to watch dancing. The band was also great. They did a good job of mixing it up with both slow and fast dancing along with some great singing. We skipped the dinner and just went to the show and didn’t feel like we missed anything.
Great dancers and musicians, terrible service otherwise. When booking the no-dinner option you are seated up on a balcony with a fence that takes up half the view of the stage. There was a fan blowing so hard everyone up there was freezing and the people working there were unhelpful and rude. It was not possible to buy anything but water up there. A shame with such great dancers and show, to have the circumstances ruin it.
Be adventurous. Take the Tango lesson prior to the dinner and show. Our instructors were patient and had us doing the basic Tango in no time. The food, wine and show were won’t. Tango Porteno is a must in Buenos Aires.
VIP option is a SCAM! We paid $240 per person for dinner/show/transportation with guaranteed seating in the first 3 rows. They seated us in the 10th row where people sitting next to us paid $80 for the same program! We were overcharged by $160 per person!!!! When I approached them for a refund, I got no support from Viator and no replies from the tour company. Food/wine was as described and the show was nice. The theatre is a large place and you can literally save lots of money and book directly from Tango Porteno and just go for the show. Based on the pricing scam, I won't be signing up with Viator any more and will cancel my future bookings.
This was a no show. We waited at the hotel lobby for 40mins. Was unable to reach the tour operator. When we eventually managed to contact them, they claimed that the tour has been cancelled by Viator. We checked with Viator and it said that it had not been cancelled. All very frustrating! Our last evening in Buenos was ruined and we didn’t get to watch a Tango show!
My husband and I attended the Tango show with the optional lesson and had such a great time! The instructors were professional and dancers in the show. It was fun to learn some steps from them and then get to see their performances. Dinner was 3 courses with wine with nice selections. Service was fast and attentive. We are so glad we went because it really embodied the spirit of Buenos Aires and created a wonderful memory.
No water for people on the upper balcony. According to staff to avoid people throwing liquids from it. What? What kind of people? So me and my wife couldn't drink nothing during the show. But of course people who had brought their own beverage drank it comfortably all the time. So if you are not going to have dinner at the premises try to bring your own water. This is a mentality from managers that really don't know how to make money. I had a great time in a balcony watching a show and drinking beer form a glass. Well that was Albert Hall in London. Maybe you should learn.
We just did the show and it was very entertaining, lively & worth it! Just fyi- If you only do show you are in balcony not on floor at tables- you can see well though & it is really fun!
We enjoyed the Tango show at Tango Porteno. We were picked up promptly in front of our hotel and transferred to the theater. This excursion for us included the transport and theater ticket only option (no food, drinks, etc). We tried to purchase drinks at the theater and it was a mess. There was only one waitstaff for approximately 40-50 people, including those who were eating dinner. After placing a drink order, a different person came around and collected our money. Ultimately we paid for but did not receive everything we had ordered, and once the show started it was impossible to get the attention of the waitstaff. This was frustrating, so I would recommend going to the bar personally if you are desiring something. The show itself had beautiful singing and dancing and it was fun to see this part of the Argentine culture. We were promptly taken back to our hotel after the show.
Disruptive staff service. Before the show started (almost 40 minutes late) I chose to pay for the glass of wine we ordered, so that we wouldn't have to during or after the show. The cashier pulled our bill I paid what he asked. Fortunately I asked for a receipt. About half way into the show a staff member interrupted me an asked that we pay our bill. I present the paid receipt, but they insisted there was still a problem. They also stated we owned for our seats (we had purchsed Viator tickets, and presented them when we entered). My wife and I left our seats and followed the staff member to the cashier's station. They finally, reluctantly recognized the paid receipt, and the paid entry payment, however, at that time we had missed 15-20 minutes of the show and were so frustrated we decided to leave. We thus missed at least half the show.
