The Barolo Palace, located in the Monserrat neighborhood, was built by the Italian architect Mario Palanti for businessman Luigi Barolo. At that time, it was the tallest building in South America, until the Kavanagh was built in 1935. The Barolo was the first reinforced concrete building of almost 100 meters. of height and is topped by a revolving headlight of 300,000 spark plugs on the 22nd floor that, in 1923, transmitted with its lights the result of the fight for the world boxing title between Luis Angel Firpo and Jack Dempsey in New York. In 2010, the city government promoted the restoration of the magnificent lighthouse to participate, with its glimmer, of the Argentine bicentennial festivities. Both Palanti and Barolo were admirers of Dante Alighieri and in the building there are references to the Divine Comedy, as the general division of the project into three parts, which correspond to the hell, purgatory and heaven of the work. In addition, the building is reminiscent of the architecture of India, as Palanti took references from the Palace of the Winds in Jaipur and the Rajarani temple in Bhubaneshvar.
The Palace of the Congress of the Argentine Nation is a neo clasical building where the Congress of the Argentine Nation develops its activities, it is one of the largest congresses in the world and it is located in the City of Buenos Aires, in a block of 12 079.6 m² of surface, limited by the Rivadavia, Combate de los Pozos, Entre Rios and Hipólito Yrigoyen Avenues.
The Colon Theater in the city of Buenos Aires is considered one of the best theaters in the world. Recognized for its acoustics and the artistic value of its construction, its current building turned 100 years old in 2008. The building has an eclectic style of the early twentieth century. The construction of the new building took around 20 years, its foundation stone was placed on May 25, 1890, with the intention of inaugurating it before October 12, 1892 coinciding with the fourth centenary of the discovery of America. It´s located between the streets of Cerrito, Viamonte, Tucumán and Libertad, in the heart of the city of Buenos Aires, and was inaugurated in 1908 with the opera Aida by Giuseppe Verdi.
The "Palacio de Aguas Corrientes" is an emblematic building of the city of Buenos Aires. It was built to house the water supply tanks of the growing city in the late nineteenth century, wrapped in a sumptuous exterior of imported materials whose architect was the Norwegian Olaf Boye, who arrived in Buenos Aires in 1885 and worked with renowned local architects such as Juan Antonio Buschiazzo, Adolfo Büttner and Carlos Altgelt. The building is one of the most exuberant of Buenos Aires, and a sample of the eclectic architecture that enchanted the upper classes that ruled Argentina until 1916. The style can be framed within the tax in the Second French Empire, and highlights the pieces of polychrome ceramic and the abundant ornaments in the façade.
Palacio Paz was the largest and one of the most luxurious residences in the city of Buenos Aires, Argentina, owned by José C. Paz and the faithful reflection of the Beaux-Arts architecture of the early twentieth century. Its main entrance is located on Avenida Santa Fe 750, in front of Plaza San Martín. Since 1938, it has been the headquarters of the Military Circle.
The San Martin Palace is the ceremonial seat of the Foreign Ministry of the Argentine Republic, under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and is located across from Plaza San Martín in the Retiro neighborhood of Buenos Aires. The Palace, of fine arts style, was designed for Mercedes Castellanos de Anchorena member of one of the most representative families of the Buenos Aires aristocracy, by the architect Alejandro Christophersen in 1905. It was inaugurated by the Anchorena family to commemorate the centenary of the declaration of the Argentine Independence. The palace was known as the Anchorena Palace until 1936, when it was acquired by the Argentine government and became the headquarters of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, calling itself "Palacio San Martin".
The house that belonged to Ortiz Basualdo-Zapiola is today the headquarters of the Embassy of France. Built between 1912 and 1918, it is considered one of the buildings that best represents the architecture of French academicism. It keeps a great variety of styles that reflect the artistic value
The General Güemes Gallery, also known as Pasaje Güemes, is an art nouveau style building with an interior pedestrian passage that joins the streets of Florida and San Martin, with shops on two levels. It is located in the heart of the city of Buenos Aires, and is the first building in the country built entirely of reinforced concrete and is also considered by many as its first skyscraper. It was inaugurated in 1915 and its name recalls General Martín Miguel de Güemes, hero of the Argentine War of Independence and driver of the so-called gaucho war.
In a bustling commercial street in the elegant Recoleta neighborhood, you can visit a serene temple of books. The lighting is soft, with details that show the best craftsmanship of the early twentieth century. The description corresponds to the Grand Splendid Athenaeum, and belongs to a National Geographic article that points to the bookstore as "the most beautiful in the world". From Santa Fe Avenue, the Grand Splendid Athenaeum is a striking building. A large stained-glass window with books, a sign with his name and the folds of an architecture of the beginning of the 20th century. Before being filled with books, the Athenaeum was the National North Theater until, in 1917, the Grand Splendid was built as an immense avant-garde theater.

The private architecture tour was such a treat. Our guide Mariela was a lecturer in art history and studio art at the local university, she was incredibly knowledgeable and on top of that sweet natured, patient, just a lovely person to spend the day with. We had a private driver as well as Mariela so we could walk or ride around the city to our preference. Great activity for mixed age groups.
Very knowledgeable and friendly guide. We had a vehicle to move from site to site but also got out to walk around or in the places which was nice. We ended at a very nice restaurant on the guises recommendation.
Great way to start a visit to Buenos Aires. Our guide Mariela was very knowledgeable and quickly identified what was important for us. She was flexible and adjusted the tour as we went to include an informative walk through Recoleta Cemetery. She provided so many valuable recommendations and allowed us to customize where we ended the tour. We were a party of 6 and the van was perfect to get around combined with some walking. Highly recommend Signature Tours.
My guide was wonderful… I had already walked around Buenos Aires before the tour, but my guide adjusted and provided a lot of new and interesting facts
Alexandra was such a blessing to us. We are in Buenos Aires for our honeymoon and had an open day that we wanted to fill. The architecture tour and Alexandra‘s knowledge of the city were so wonderful. She gave us so many great recommendations and so many great ideas of things to do while we’re here and upon our hopeful return. Her driver was excellent and made every stop seamless. The tour was comfortable, informative, and fun. We highly recommend it to anyone who wants a good tour of the city especially in their native tongue (of which she knows many) Thank you so much for all that you did. We can’t wait to see you again.
This was a very interesting and informative tour! Learning about the history of the city through its architecture was a fun experience. The tour covered the architecture is a couple different areas, most within 10 minutes of the driving. Our tour guide and the driver were both very friendly, and the guide was very knowledgeable. She provided great information on the history and culture of the city. She also gave us great recommendations on what other things to see. Per her suggestion, we went and found a tour to La Recoleta Cemetery in the afternoon. The juxtaposition of seeing the grand buildings and the mausoleums in one day and and hearing about the stories of the people inhabited in these places was an unique memory from our trip!
Mariella tailored the tour to your needs. You could get out of the car and take pictures when you wanted to. Also, other things were discussed like Argentine culture and politics.
Mariela was an amazing tour guide! We got to see major historical landmarks and she discussed architectural styles and famous architects, and contextualized everything within the historical development of Argentina and Buenos Aires. Xavier guided us expertly through the city in a beautiful van. I highly recommend this tour to anyone who wants to better understand the city. I wish we had done this at the very beginning of our stay here!
Excellent informative guide with good English. Saw a side of Buenos Aries that did not see on previous tours.
This classic building, with its blend of old-world charm with modern function, was Designed by French architect Norbert Maillart in 1889. However, with no public funding, it was left on hold for twenty years until it received approval in 1904. Construction began in 1905, but it was not finished until 37 years later, in 1942. Occupying an entire city block, this Neoclassical–Eclectic style building, with its clean lines, elegant columns, and facade covered in imitation Paris, is now the home of the Supreme Court. It is free to enter the building , and on Fridays at 2:30 pm there is a Ninety-minute guided tours of the courts, but only in Spanish on Fridays. Upon entering, a large bronze statue represents Justice, the work of Argentine sculptor Rogelio Yrurtia; on the sides, you can see the crowns that represent the Tablets of the Law held by human figures. Our guide, Julieta, was excellent. She is extremely knowledgeable about the history of Buenos Aires and Argentina. Her expertise added a huge dimension to viewing the buildings and touring the city. The tour gives one a good and interesting basis for a few of the city’s highlights.
Our family loved the architecture and palaces tour. Our daughter has almost completed her architecture studies and she very much appreciated the insight that Alexandra provided. The tour hit the highlights of Buenos Aires and also provided very good historical context. Alexandra was knowledgeable, funny, and personable. We appreciated the flexibility of the tour as well. We got dropped off in time to have a tour of the Colon Theatre. We would highly recommend this tour.
Alexandra did a phenomenal job Explaining the key architectural points of Buenos Aires. Our daughter is in a Masters of Architecture program and she throughly enjoyed the tour. Alexandra was able to flex the half day tour to meet our needs. We were able to join the tour of the a theatre Colon in time. Thanks for the outstanding tour. Highly recommended!
Fabulous. No worries about the exchange rate use your credit card and the difference is not very much at all. Watch out for small shops (usually groceries shops) that add 10% to foreign credit cards. They tell you before hand so all legitimate. The place is very safe, I have not had any worries and no concerns. Take the obvious precautions you would in any European city. Really a very easy city recommend Palermo Hollywood as you can walk to so many places from there. Also, great restaurants on every street. You need cash for uber for most foreigners and tipping so bring some dollars and change here. If you are not a nomad worker recommend you spend 2 weeks BA and then some travel around.
We had an extra day in Buenos Aires and were looking for something more than a basic city tour. This tour was the perfect way to spend the afternoon. Miguel is an awesome tour guide! He's great at mixing art, architecture, and history into an entertaining and interesting tour. Highly recommended!
Our guide Carolina was superb! She took us on a totally personalized tour of Buenos Aires - we felt like our needs were understood, and she delivered. We'd highly recommend.
We saw some interesting buildings that we would not have noticed (or for 3, explored the inside) without the guide. Julia was very knowledgeable about the history of the history or each building, as well as the history of the city. In addition to the specific buildings highlighted on the tour, she pointed out features and provided history of quite a few neighboring buildings. By the way, Viator listed this as a 4 hour tour, but the tour guide and the driver said they were hired for a 3 hour tour.
We attended the tour to visit this building because there is not so much to do in the city. The Palacio Barolo is interesting to look at outside. Inside of the building there is really nothing special to see. And the tour took two hours to show the rundown and even dirty place. It was not worth to spend time for that. Climb to the top of building in the lighthouse you will get a panoramic view of the city which is not that beautiful but interesting. At the end of the tour included a glass of wine, but it’s took place in a small old office. Not on the nice terrace of the building. Why?
This tour was great! Our guide was friendly and knowledgeable of the city. HIghly recommend this tour.
Very good food, delicious and varied Congratulations on the excellent Service, especially for Mr. Enrique and Andrés. They exceeded our expectations. Congratulations.
