Historical Sherpa Food Tour Of San Telmo With Street Food, Drinks

Great tour, Lu our guide was very welcoming and friendly and displayed plenty of local knowledge and history throughout. It didn’t feel rushed either, our stops were at the right pace. San Telmo had cool vibes also which made it a memorable walking tour.

This food tour was spectacular. Our guide Maya was kind, genuine, and very knowledgeable about the history and cuisine of Buenos Aires. The food was delicious and there was plenty of it. I highly recommend this tour for anybody visiting the city. Thank you Maya!

Stan guided us through the rich colorful historic San Telmo district. We visited six different “food” venues (two were dessert). A dynamic, warm and friendly guide I highly recommend the food tour with Stan for any visitors who want to know the culture of Buenos Aires!

We did the tour with Lu today and it was excellent! I am gluten free and was fully accommodated at all stops with authentic local food. The market is a destination itself but it’s great to get the colour and context from Lu.

Lu was an absolutely great host. Her knowledge of the cuisine and local customs were fun and interesting. We both just loved it.

Excellent intro to the San Telmo area and market. Great sampling of foods that I would not have enjoyed and encountered if I had not participated in this activity. Kiki, our tour leader was engaging and did a fantastic job talking about the foods we were sampling, sharing history and highlights of Argentina. Wonderful food experience. This was my third food experience with Sherpa Food Tours and they have all been memorable experiences. Don’t hesitate to participate in one of their food excursions.

Our tour was fantastic! We went to the food market and tasted so many wonderful foods. Our guide, Maya, shared history of Buenos Aires in a way that provided valuable context for the food we were eating. She was kind and helpful to everyone on the tour, taking care to ensure that everyone got the most out of it. We’ve done food tours in many cities around the world and this one was one of the best. And Maya was a huge part of that.

One of the better food tours I’ve been on. Maya did a great job explaining things and showing us around. The food was plentiful and yummy. And a really good mix of walking sitting and standing. I never felt too tired or too stuffed. Would highky recommend.

It’s a lovely walk through one of Buenos Aires’ oldest neighborhoods. The food is exceptional and also the stories that went with it. Our guide, Lu, was really personable and very welcoming. Really recommend.

Ths was a really good tour. I think we visited 6 places, including stops for dulce de leche and ice cream towards the end. We learned a lot about food in the area as well as customs and history. Mays is an excellent guide. Apparently she l ads half of all food tours in Buenos Aires as She think it was the third time she has been my guide over several visits.

Our guide Lu was fantastic. Not only did we get to taste a variety of different local favorites, she described the neighborhood, the historical references for the different foods with personal stories interspersed. Definitely recommend this tour!

Lu is an incredible guide! Her passion, deep historic knowledge, and humor made exploring San Telmo an absolute blast. The walk was very reasonable and easy to follow, making for a relaxed and delicious outing. Easily transitioned between Spanish and English with ease and made every guest very comfortable and welcomed. The food selections were outstanding—chorizo stew, tortilla de papas, empanadas, dulce de leche, and gelato! Lu’s insights made it so easy to fall in love with Argentine street food, and her personal recommendations for other local spots were pure gold. Highly recommend! A must do in Buenos Aires, Argentina!

Maya was fabulous- very knowledgeable, fun and made the tour so enjoyable. We loved visiting the bars and St Telmo Market and hearing about the history of Argentina and the food and wines. Finishing with an ice cream at Iceland was a great finale. I would highly recommend Maya. Thank you so much Maya for un dia inolvidable!

My husband and I love a food tour, so we took every opportunity to book one of a different area of Buenos Aires while there for our honeymoon. Sherpa's food tour of San Telmo lived up to our very high expectations. The minute we were greeted by Dennis, we knew we were in for a special treat. His smile, his energy, his positive & infectious spirit. He was like the most deliciously perfect icing on an already delicious cake. Every second of the tour was perfect, and we did not want to miss a word that he said. This tour does cover some history, and it can be a bit hard, but it was so memorable. We could have listened to him for hours. And then the food! The reason we came! Every bite was chosen so thoughtfully and each was so delicious. I am still dreaming of that provoleta. OMG. You will be, too. The market was fun & frenetic and walking around San Telmo with Dennis felt like being with a friend. It is such a small world that we went on a food tour in Portland right after we moved here, and discovered that the tour guide had also gone on this same tour AND had Dennis as her guide and of course loved him. We both had pictures of him on our phones, which was quite funny. So take this tour and if you get Dennis, you will also want a photo with him in your phone. You will be in the club:)
