If you are in Buenos Aires, this is something you should experience. The tango lesson was fun. The Argentinian beef dinner was second to none! As much as I loved both the lesson and dinner, the tango show was the highlight of the evening. The dancers, singers, and musicians were all fantastic. It's an experience I won't forget, and I'd do it again in a heartbeat. Don't miss it!

Itinerary
After hotel pickup, head to San Telmo neighbourhood, the lively home of tango. Arrive at a beautiful building where Gala Tango takes place. If you’ve opted for dinner option, you'll arrive 90 minutes before showtime to enjoy a wine tasting and dig into a three-course meal featuring a wide range of Argentine and international dishes, accompanied by national wines. If you've chosen the show-only option, slip into your seat in time for the performance, and enjoy provided wine or soft drinks. The show involves a typical Orchestra formed by a quintet (piano, large concertina, 2 violins, and double bass) accompanied by two tango singers, four dancing couples, a “charango” player and “boleadoras” show. The show closes with a moving tribute to Eva Perón and then your driver takes you back to your hotel. The show's duration is 1 hour and 40 minutes.

Absolutely outstanding with remarkable dancers and musicians and singers. Food was amazingly good since we only expected “wedding” quality food. Service was great. Would go back in a second.
Our booking included hotel pickup, Tango class, 3-course dinner, and Tango Show, but we received a message at pickup time to the effect of ‘make your own way to the venue - the event starts in half an hour’! Fortunately, our hotel was only 8 minutes walk away so it was no big problem. The class teachers went at beginners pace and it was a lot of fun. The restaurant was lovely, the welcome was warm, the food was top class and the wine glasses topped up regularly. The show itself was magnificent and we left on a high after a doubtful start. At nearly £150 per head, it wasn’t a cheap night out but plenty of establishments were charging more!
They are late for everything. Pickup. Show start AVOID at all costs Super high volume music. Never tell you the address f the venue until you are there
There are lots of options for tango shows. But we settled on this one because it offered a lesson as part of the price. The whole experience was brilliant. Lesson was great, the food was superb and you also get unlimited drinks from finishing your lesson to the end of the show (4 hours +). Definitely worth paying the little extra. The show itself was incredible with lots of variety. Couldn’t recommend enough
Before our trip, we did a lot of research into which tango place to go to. I'm very glad we picked this one. There's definitely a little industry around tango shows for tourists, comparable to the flamenco business in Madrid and Seville. Lots of options to choose from. Gala Tango gave us what I'd hoped for--excellent wine, a very good dinner, and plenty of tango. Highly recommend. We opted for the wine tasting beforehand. The sommelier was outstanding, impressive even to my long-time wine aficionado boyfriend. For us this was a far better choice than the mini-lesson in tango dancing. The food at the dinner was really good, exceeded expectations. Argentinian classics. I wouldn't say it's Michelin star quality, but it was like dinner at a high-ish end resort (I had braced myself for something more like dinner at a professional association's annual banquet--fortunately, what Gala Tango served was much better than that). Service during dinner was great. Loved the performance! The musicians are talented, the dancers amazing. I lost track of how many numbers they did. Vocal numbers filled the intervals when the dancers were changing costumes. I definitely felt like I saw all the tango I'd hoped for and left wanting to keep listening to tango music. The only part that puzzled me was the show's final number: "Don't Cry for Me, Argentina" sung by the entire cast. Right, so, not an Argentinian song, but one written by a British composer and later performed on screen by an American pop star. Not to mention that I can't figure out how today's Argentinians feel about Eva Peron (maybe "it's complicated" is the right answer?). If there was irony behind this Evita capstone, I didn't pick up on it. So, my jaw dropped, but evidently this is what the show's creators think the audience--mostly from English-dominant countries--want. Logistics were fine in that the promised transportation showed up on time at our hotel in Palermo. We were on that van for a long time as it picked up guests at other hotels (use the bathroom before getting on the van). I liked seeing different parts of Buenos Aires during the ride, but after the show we opted to call an Uber.
Intimate setting. Fabulous tango dancers, musicians and other performers. Service at the table was impeccable. Highly recommend.
The tour loses a star because the dinner was disappointing: for a city that's famous for its steaks, the steaks served with dinner were mostly tough/overdone (not just our personal view but one that was shared by many of those sitting around us). The show itself was fun, with various small groups of dancers performing the Tango, interspersed with songs that were well known to Argentinians, who sang along, but were unfamiliar to foreigners.
Expensive and not cost effective. The worse wines in Argentina, the musicians are great, the dancers also great, but I felt robbed with the fee per person, plus at the end, they charged us for the Whiskey, which was not included, and no one told us about it. So, my conclusions: Good tango, bad service, with aweful wines. Indeed an abuse for tourists. Never going back and never recommending to anyone
After the conference, we ate dinner here at the Gala Tango. I chose beef cheek which was very good! It was soft almost like a lengua estofado! So far I enjoyed this dinner very much because it was coupled with a good appetizer of meat empanada and a dessert of crepe with dulce de leche and cappuccino. My friend had a roast pork which he claimed to be very good also. Best of all was the show! It was indeed a mix of culture dance - tango, songs ( Dry cry for me Argentina in Spanish) and music like El Condor Pasa! Their version was excellent accompanied by a ukelele with 10 strings (charango). The gaucho did a good drum and play with the boleadoras Overall a very nice evening!
This evening, my friend and I decided to dive into the world of Argentine tango, opting for the Gala Tango show in Buenos Aires at $120 per person, drinks included. The exterior of the building, reminiscent of something between a luxurious hotel and a legendary historical restaurant, raised our expectations. However, as soon as we crossed the threshold, it became clear that the facade was deceptive. The first thing that caught our eye was the steep staircase, trying hard to appear luxurious. The stage, adorned with musicians in white suits and a white piano, promised an unforgettable spectacle. Yet, the audience gathered here was purely touristy, without any dress code, resembling a gathering of random people from all corners of the world, with a majority from China. It was impossible to find among the spectators anyone who truly appreciated tango. The stage lighting, seemingly intended as a dramatic element, only highlighted the absurd wigs of the singer and underscored the overall clumsiness of the production. The singer’s performance, especially her failed attempt to entertain the audience with a satirical dance, provoked laughter, but not in the intended way. The male vocal performance also left the impression of a parody of art. The dance numbers, performed by three couples, would have been more fitting for a village festival than a serious tango show. The abrupt transition to a guitar solo, resembling flamenco, only added to the questions – we came for tango, not this. The atmosphere turned into a farce when a child, wailing throughout the program, appeared in the hall, and a couple, for some reason, devoured steaks during the performance, although dinner was supposed to end before the show started. The evening’s climax came when we were almost threateningly offered to leave tips for the staff and artists, after which we left the hall, not hiding our disappointment. This evening at Gala Tango left us feeling trapped in a tourist gimmick, far from the true art of tango. Clearly, the place has the potential to become iconic, but without quality artistic management and respect for the genre, it’s merely a waste of time and money.
This is a marvellous tango show, and premium gourmet dinner. Great tango music performed live, energetic dancers and performers, all very tastefully dressed in beautiful costumes. I have seen it before, and will come again.
An excellent show with passionate performances. Food good and service from staff first class . Has a really excellent cocktail bar next door for after drinks.
Amazing show and food but the complementary ride to and from the show made the night way longer than necessary. Would recommend just going there on your own
The music was phenomenal (particularly the ukele player and the band leader/accordian player). The dancing was great.
Far and away the best tango show in Buenos Aires! The others do "crowded, dingy". Gala does elegant. The private tango lessons are also superb.
Gala tango dinner and show was amazing - wonderful dancers in music, and very tasty steak dinner. transportation to the show was terrible. We were told to wait in the lobby at 7:30 PM, and didn’t end up being picked up until 8:10 PM. there was no communication about this. when we did eventually get picked up in the shuttle bus, people on board were complaining they had already been on the bus for over an hour. I would hihgly recommend going to Gala Tango dinner and show, but book the tickets where you don’t have to suffer through this transportation nonsense. Just take a taxi or Cabify. It is quite easy in Burnos Aires and that is what we did on the way home.
Great service, outstanding musicians and superb dancers, we enjoyed the experience We did not have The service provider of the transfer we could not set a time for the pick up I called your contact information provided and Viator Argentina was not able to help. Only that some time after 8:00 pm Shuttle arrived at 7:45 pm
The place is gorgeous but there isn’t too much time to enjoy it. The dinner was delicious and the show was wonderful. On the not that bright side: it was a bit messy. We paid the pick up service which was somehow Ok. But once we got to the place, we had to stand in a long line. The return trip was very messy, nobody knew how and where we would be picked up to return to our hotels. I think the show is too pricey. We booked the whole experience but it is not worthy if you are not used to a huge meal at night.
We had the pleasure of visiting with our group 0f 12 from USA, as the first group of Americans entering Argentina first week of November 2021. We started with a very nice and pleasant wine tasting wine tasting at their wine room, followed by a delicious dinner with their house brand wines. The waitstaff very attentive and professional. The show was a mix of traditional tango, great band and excellent dancers, two singers, all under a very intimate setting. Music was very good, a single guitarist showed his art playing the traditional Charango and incorporated his music with the band, really wonderful! I can nor wait to be back with our 2022 Culinary Wine Tour. Thank you Luciano and Omar for your warm welcome, Chef Ricardo Fernandez Battini
We had the most marvelous evening here. Wonderful dancing, wonderful food great photo opportunities post show! Thoroughly recommend it
After reading the reviews of this place I took my wife there with high hopes it would be good as I am not a dance fan in any way shape or form but she loves this sort of thing. The meal was excellent and loved the choice we had as we were served by attentive waiters with an excellent house malbec. Then the show started and I was totally blown away as to how good the dancers were and was captivated. The man with a small guitar (I am sure it has a fancy name) came on halfway through and I have never seen someone so in love with just making music. Then back to the dancers and from our table, we could see the intricate foot moves clearly and some of the moves had to be seen to be believed. The ride to and from our hotel was easy and simple and all included in the price. I can only comment on the show we saw but I cannot recommend this place highly enough and if I could give it 6 stars I would. If you go to Buenos Aires then visit here you won't be disappointed with dinner or the show.
Thought this might be touristy and cruise quality but it was “Broadway quality” tango show with great dinner plus other outstanding performers. Buy the VIP. YOU ARE SO CLOSE to stage it’s a very intimate setting for such a titillating show. Huge high quality steak Dinner before was excellent with all included. Steak was enough for 4. Have the carpaccio to start and pears in malbec to finish and you’ll go home happy even without an exciting show. Dancers were stunning and so exquisite and high energy in every aspect. Live musicians added quality and excellence. Had a gaucho playing something that looked like a Gourd which was amazing and also one who did a performance with drums and a knotted rope that was also quite engaging. All in all a fabulous nite. Dancers do not permit pix during show but will gladly take individual shots with you at the end which are fun and terrific souvenirs. Only problem is you eat late and it ends close to mid nite- past our bedtime LOL. Go!
The Argentinean steak meal before the performance was wonderfully tender, and the waiters kept filling up our champagne glasses, and also the wine glasses, so we were really in receptive mood to see this wonderful tango show.
We did the Tango lessons following by tango show with dinner. It was a great experience. The food was good, the show was amazing. The tango class was short but fun.
Got a gift from our son for vip show. We had no idea what to expect but what a wonderful surprise to see the theatre and room. Staff were absolutely superb especially Cool Leo and gorgeous Max. The food was excellent and the wine went down very nicely!!!!what can I say about the show!? Professional musicians dancers faultless and singers beautiful . It's so good it's hard to write about such beauty and art as the music played and the dancing delightful .Have to admit I got quite emotional at the last song if ever you visit gala should be top place to start to all the staff and performers thank you for make it a truly beautiful one never to be forgotten. Will think of you all when I'm back in dear little Ireland xx
We took the wine tasting option and the somelier was very good. It was a private session and we tasted some excellent wines. Then down to a very good dinner that included champagne and red wine. The beef carpacio appetizer just melted in your mouth. The pears poached in Malbec wine begged for more. Then the show - absolutely fantastic! The dancers, the musicians, the gaucho with his drum and later boleros were all very entertaining. My only complaint... too much good food!
What a great tango show! Everything was fantastic, food, service, the show, the venue, I would definitely choose Gala Tango over any other tango show. We had a great time! Definitely recommend it!
The place is very nice and the show is highly recommended. Both the tango and folklore musicians and dancers are excellent. Very good option not only for tourists to get to know our typical music but also for locals to enjoy it.
What an amazing experience!!!! If you need to choose a single tango show in Buenos Aires, Argentina Gala Tango is the place. We went to Rojo Tango as well and the musical and choreographic quality does not compare to Gala Tango.
