Itinerary
It is located in the exclusive neighborhood of Recoleta, which owes its name to the fact that the convent of the Recollect monks was located there, to which the neighboring Basilica Nuestra Señora del Pilar also belonged (the cemetery was built in the old monks' garden). ). It is the most visited in the city, due to its numerous and imposing mausoleums and vaults, belonging to many of the main protagonists of Argentine history, such as that of Eva Perón (Evita), one of the most popular tombs. Likewise, it deserves a visit for its architectural value, since it is a sample of the times when the country was an emerging economic power and the main families of the city competed to build splendid pantheons. Many of the vaults and mausoleums are the work of important architects and are adorned with marble and sculpture; more than 90 vaults have been declared a National Historical Monument.
The Ateneo Grand Splendid was chosen by the British newspaper The Guardian as the second most important bookstore in the world. Erected over the old Grand Splendid cinema theater in the Recoleta neighborhood, it retains its former splendor and elegance, with the dome decorated with frescoes, the original railings and the decoration intact. On the old stage – with the velvet curtain slightly open – there is a bar that invites you to sit down with a book in hand. You can also take advantage of the armchairs that are on both sides of the main room or sit in the exclusive boxes that function as small reading rooms. In the basement there is a sector dedicated to children's books, and the upper floor is dedicated to samples and exhibitions.
This imposing 20-meter-high sculpture that dominates the United Nations Square was donated to the City of Buenos Aires by its author, the Argentine architect Eduardo Catalano. It is made of stainless steel and aluminum and weighs 18 tons. It is the first moving sculpture controlled by a hydraulic system and photoelectric cells. The work was inaugurated on April 13, 2002. Its name, "Floralis Generica", is a tribute to all flowers. It is the projection of a dream of its creator, that of building a large-scale structure that reflects the dynamism of our time.
Inside the Parque 3 de Febrero, in Palermo, is the Rosedal, with a collection of more than 18,000 roses and a lake that surrounds it. It occupies a space that belonged to the fifth of Juan Manuel de Rosas, until he was defeated on February 3, 1852 in the battle of Caseros. The work began with the landscaper Carlos Thays, the same one who built the Botanical Garden, the Avellaneda Park and the Lezama Park, among others. Later, his disciple Benito Carrasco finished it in 1914. Every July, when the pruning season begins, neighbors and tourists approach the gardeners to receive flowers or cuttings from which new species can be reproduced. In this way, in winter the rosebushes bloom healthy and strong to reach the maximum point of development in October.
Surrounded by the Palermo Woods, the Japanese Garden is a corner of Buenos Aires that falls in love with whoever visits it. Built in 1967 on the occasion of the visit of the Emperor of Japan Akihito and his wife Michiko, it is the largest Japanese-style garden outside Japan. Walking surrounded by bonsai, azaleas, kokedamas, orchids and cement lanterns is an unforgettable pleasure.
Caminito is the most famous pedestrian street in Buenos Aires. It is one of the most popular tourist attractions in the city due to its colorful houses and its deep historical and cultural significance. Caminito is located in the popular La Boca neighborhood, on the Riachuelo River coast and only 400 meters from La Bombonera, the Boca Juniors stadium. It is a 150 meter long curved pedestrian promenade where important artistic works can be seen.
It is a large indoor market located in the San Telmo neighborhood. Although it preserves old shops selling vegetables and meat, today it is a tourist spot and there are plenty of antique dealers. The old "neighborhood" stalls that have been preserved for several decades coexist with the more recent and related antique dealers, such as the tourist boom in San Telmo. The building also includes some premises that have their own entrance from the street, including greengrocers, liquor stores, a restaurant and two notable bars: "San Pedro Telmo", and "La Coruña".1
It is a palace located in front of the Plaza de Mayo that functions as the seat of the National Government. This imposing pink building occupies the site where the Fort of Buenos Aires was erected in 1580. It was the residence of Spanish viceroys and later housed, with some reforms, the authorities of successive national governments. The current building is the product of the merger of two previous constructions: the presidential headquarters and the Palacio de Correos (on the corner of Hipólito Yrigoyen and Balcarce).
Inspired by the Gran Vía in Madrid, Avenida de Mayo is one of the largest and most important arteries in Buenos Aires. It runs through the city from Plaza de Mayo with the Casa Rosada at one end, to the National Congress building at the other. Officially opened in 1894, it is worth going through, as it is like taking a trip through the entire history of the city.

We opted for a private tour mainly because I am traveling with my 80 year old parents. Our guide Martin arrive on time. I like that the tour was done at a comfortable pace, and Martin asked us for the sites that we prefer to visit after suggesting some places. We went to the El Rosedal, El Ateneo Grand Splendid, Casa Rasada, Plaza Mayo, Caminito and Recoleta Cemetery. Martin will accompany us when there’s place where he can find parking. But for those where he can’t, he will give us a brief description of the place and we will walk around on our own. All in all, I would suggest private tour for elderly and family.
Alfredo was a great tour guide. He was very knowledgeable about Argentina, its history, and culture. Highly recommended!
What a good experience - I have done many city tours but this one was great! The guide, Catalina, was excellent! What stood out for me was that she did not often do tours in English but this was no problem as she was articulate and entertaining. Well done and thanks for doing a great job!
I was in Buenos Aires for work with only a few hours to spare, and Catalina made the most of that limited window. Rather than a generic overview, she built the tour around what I told her I was interested in and still managed to give me a real feel for the city. The best moment: I was proud of an empanada spot I'd found on my own, convinced it was the city's best-kept secret. Catalina then led me to an even more hidden spot with even better empanadas — a level of local knowledge you can't get from a guidebook. I also did this tour solo and felt completely safe and comfortable the entire time. For anyone traveling alone or short on time, this is a great option. If you're visiting Buenos Aires and want a guide who actually customizes the experience, ask for Catalina.
What a wonderful tour! Not a minute of this fabulous tour was wasted - my tour with Catalina felt like being with a very well informed and knowledgable friend rather than being "just a tourist". Catalina is a great guide and really tailored my tour to ensure I saw many sides of Buenos Aires. I had a really fun time!
Great experience with Dario who was super friendly, professional and very knowledgable. We had a great day in Buenos Aires with him
This was one of the best tours I have taken from Viator, and I have taken a lot! Emi was amazing! So informative and very knowledgeable about history and neighborhoods. He helped us so much with understanding the culture of Buenos Aires and Argentina more. I would take the tour again!
It was a pleasant tour. Our guide was knowledgeable and friendly. He spoke good English and even took us to a leather good store which was unplanned. The tour lasted a little over 5 hours and we started earlier than schedule. We enjoyed experience and privacy of tour with more of a personalized experience.
It sucked my guide did not speak a lick of english was rude and told us no info.
We had a wonderful time with our guide Maicon! He was very knowledgeable and fun to be with and took us to the main spots in Buenos Aires!! Highly recommend!
We were only in Buenos Aires for a couple of days before a cruise, and wanted to maximize our time. After reviewing the awesome reviews and great pricing options for Depasseios tours, we opted to book the Discover Buenos Aires on a Private Full Day Tour with Guide through Viator. An hour or so before the tour, we received notification from the tour guide, Dario. We hit the 'tour guide' jackpot with Dario! He was cool, funny, courteous and extremely knowledgeable about a variety of subjects regarding Buenos Aires (e.g., Flowers, trees, history, food, etc.). Dario was eager and energetic to show us his city! If we ever visit again or receive tour recommendation inquiries about Buenos Aires, we will not hesitate to refer others to Depasseios tours (with the request for Dario as the tour guide!)! Dario picked us up at our hotel around 8:00am. Stop 1: Floralis Generica Arrived around 8:25am. Dario provided information about the sculpture/area and assisted us with taking some cool photos. Since we arrived early, we were able to avoid crowds. Left Stop 1 around 8:45am. Stop 2: El Rosedal Garden Arrived around 9:05am. Dario provided knowledge about the garden. We thoroughly enjoyed taking a leisurely walk around the area and taking time to literally "smell the roses." Left Stop 2 around 10:20am. Stop 3: Basílica de Nuestra Señora del Pilar (Our Lady of Pillar Basilica) Note: We opted out of visiting Recoleta Cemetery (was able to get a glimpse of the cemetery from the car on the way to Stop 3). Arrived around 10:45am. Walked around the church and snapped a few photos. Note: If you have limited time, would research the Our Lady of Pillar Basilica prior to the tour to determine if you want to visit or bypass the stop. Left Stop 3 around 11:05am. Stop 4: El Ateneo Grand Splendid Arrived around 11:10am. El Ateneo was a cool stop (theatre that was converted into a huge bookstore). In addition to the books and music (options are in what appears to be the basement) for purchase, there is a Havanna Cafe (a chain throughout the city) and the Grand Splendid Experience (3rd floor, optional activity where admission fee is required). You can go to an upper level to take photos and/or browse through more books. We opted out of purchasing food from Havanna, and instead went to the convenience store beside the bookstore to get water and snacks. A blind man with an amazing voice was singing outside of the bookstore. If we did not have other stops on the tour, would have gladly stayed there and listened to him perform. Left Stop 4 around 11:55am. Stop 5: Casa Rosada (Pink House)/Buenos Aires Metropolitan Cathedral Arrived around 12:15pm. We walked around the plaza and snapped photos. Walked over to the Buenos Aires Metropolitan Cathedral (only took a few minutes). We walked through the church and saw the (guarded) marble mausoleum of General José de San Martín. Left Stop 5 around 1:10pm (attempted to see the changing of the guards at 1:00pm, but there was a delay, so we left). Stop 6: Puerto Madero (quick photo stop) Arrived around 1:20pm. Took photos of the area and took in the sights. Left Stop 6 around 1:25pm. Stop 7: San Telmo Area/Parrilla La Brigada (last stop) Arrived around 1:45pm, which is when the tour ended. Earlier in the tour, we opted out of visiting Caminito (because we went the day before the tour). However, after eating at the recommended La Brigada restaurant, we wished that we'd revisited Caminito so that we could have eaten lunch at El Gran Paraíso (again). Our experience at La Brigada was underwhelming. While it may have been an isolated incident, the food quality and service didn’t match our expectations (e.g., Overcooked meat and neglectful waiter). Prior to dining at La Brigada, do your research on the restaurant and other dining options in the San Telmo area (e.g., At the market). Note: - All of the sites we visited were free and did not require admission fees. - For groups larger than 4, confirm vehicle capacity with the tour operator to ensure comfort. - Inquire if booking directly with the operator saves money. - Use the Depasseios itinerary as a guide and customize stops to fit your interests. If you have a tour guide as awesome as Dario, regardless of which sites are selected, you will be in for a treat as you explore Buenos Aires!
We were picked up from hotel and started our tour. The guide was very informative and drove well around the city showing us all the main sites. Just a note that the guide did not stick to the confirmed tour. So check before you start where you are visiting. One place was not visited. Felt like the guide was in a hurry. I had to remind her of where we were to visit at the end That said was good to see the city driven well.
This tour gave us a very good overview of Buenos Aires in 6 hours. Ana our guide was very knowledgeable and spoke English very well. A very good day to begin our South American adventure.
We covered a ton of ground and got a great intro to the city. Fernando was flexible and made the tour great for us and our children. Thanks, Fernando!
Our guide Dario was excellent. He was friendly and very knowledgeable. Made our day in Buenos Aires a wonderful experience. 100% recommend him!
We had a great day, guide was very hospitable, we would recommend this tour to families and friends.
Fabulous way to navigate such a large city. Money well spent! No time wasted trying to figure out how to get from one place to another. Juan was an excellent guide...a wealth of information!
Our guide Alfredo was simply the best. He gave us an amazing tour and experience of beautiful Buenos Aires. Alfredo was attentive and genuinely cared about our needs and comfort. He has a great knowledge of history and can communicate with clarity. When visiting BA consider this tour on your first day. That way you’ll have a true sense of the city and ideas of where explore further.
Wonderful tour of Buenos Aires! All of the highlights are included and Martin was excellent and very knowledgeable and efficient. However, make sure you have enough room as cars in BA are small.
This tour was a great overview of the city of Buenos Aires. For us the visit to Recoleta Cemetery was the highlight of the tour. Our guide, Anatalia, was knowledgeable, had a great personality, and had excellent driving skills.
Our guide, Rafael Sucheras was our driver and guide for out 6 hour tour of Buenos Aires on March 11, 2026. HE IS GREAT! We talked a little while about what we were interested in, and off we went. We integrated cultural architect discussions with environmental protection of open spaces in the parks, a walk through the market with a fantastic lunch, and back on the road we went to the square where the guard was changing at the Buenose Aries Metropolitan Cathedral. Thank you, Viator and Rafael!
Great tour! Mariano was very knowledgeable and communicated well! He was very accommodating and patient! He loves Argentina so much and it showed during the tour! Best of all, he infused the tour with his own personal flair! Thank you!
Alfredo was the best. We went to such wonderful places and his history and love for his country shined through. He was a wealth of knowledge. We enjoyed seeing tge city with the time we had and he made it very fulfilling.
Very knowledgeable and friendly guide made this tour a must-do. He adjusted the itinerary based on our interests and ensured that we had opportunities to see every possible site without feeling rushed or pressured. His historical knowledge in particular enhanced our appreciation of many sites. Truly a delightful way to experience Buenos Aires at its finest! Additional recommendations were also a bonus.
Very pleasant, knowledgable and kept the pace moving. Excellent English
As two couples vacationing together in Buenos Aires, we wanted to explore the city at our own pace. This tour certainly delivered! Our guide/driver Diego was wonderful-knowledgeable, kind and really catered to our mobility needs and the specific experiences we wanted. From cathedrals to vibrant neighborhoods, to his favorite lunch stop (delicious!), cemeteries and the world's most amazing bookstore we enjoyed what we wanted to see and the pace we wanted to take. If you want a great tour of a great city, this is the one to take.
Fernando was very knowledgeable. We were able to see a lot in one day Xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
Enjoy it! Great guide! He added many interesting stops and made good recommendations for lunch and dinner!
Alfredo was so knowledgeable and spoke great English. Was so great to learn so much history in Buenos Aires, truly a beautiful city! Made lots of great stops and found us a fun lunch sport. Highly recommend! Perfect amount of hours on this 6 hour tour! Thanks Alfredo!
Enjoyable and informative. Gerard was a great guide and showed lots of the best parts of Buenos Aires. He also gave us a list of recommendations for the rest of our trip.
Fantastic pair of Matteo and Matthias who took us around in a car to all the key neighbourhoods, gave us context and a really nice time. Should have done it on day 1 of our trip!
Luca was an awesome tour guide who tailored the tour to our likes and requests. It was the best way to see Buenos Aires in one day. Now we can better navigate the city ourselves and have a list of places to hit on our own.
The general tour of Buenos Aires highlights is excellent. Our tour guide, Jackson, was a true gentleman and wonderfully informative.
Gerard was exceptionally helpful to us. Our plane was 14 hours late and he accommodated us by delaying the start of the tour and then made sure in the shortened time we had to get a real feel for Buenos Aires. We had fun and loved everything he showed us. He saved the day!
Our tour guide, Juan, was excellent. This tour is a great way to see lots of Buenos Aires if you are limited on time.
We had a wonderful day with Fabian and his father Roberto Learned a lot about the city, the history and the culture
This was an excellent trip, and absolutely fantastic day, made even better by our excellent tour guide Carlos. He couldn't have been better, with his extensive knowledge, and his patience and kindness. It was a perfect introduction to the city, and gave us a great perspective of Buenos Aires, a day we will always remember. Many thanks Carlos
We booked this city tour as it was advertised as accomodating up to 6 people, and we had 4 adults and wanted to have some room. The driver arrived in a small 4 seat passenger vehicle, which was not what we booked. He then proceeded to tell us his English was very bad, and he was right, it was limited, even though we had booked an English speaking guide. He did not turn on the air conditioning, and the window controls in the back seat did not work. The car was very grubby. His tour entailed driving us around past all the foreign embassies in the city and pointing to them. He took us to a few of the spots that were on the itinerary, dropped us nearby and pointed to where we should go. Some of the sights on the itinerary were missed entirely and he dropped us back at our hotel before the booked time was up. There was no commentary on the city, history or attractions, merely a drive past and being told what they were. A very disappointing booking, we would have been better off on the hop on hop off bus in hindsight.
This was a great tour. We had only one day in Buenos Aires. Emi (Emiliano) Was an excellent guide. He showed us all of the main sites and our request to visit the Malvinas memorial. We had time for walking at the main sites and a stop for lunch with tasty local food. His car was comfortable and his English excellent. He helped with suggestions for the rest of our day and with a Tango show in the evening. Definitely 5 srar
This tour was a wonderful way to get an overview of Buenos Aires if you were not there for a long period of time. Leo was a wonderful tour guide. Very friendly and knowledgeable.
Picked up in lobby of hotel. Our guide / driver was excellent, and we felt safe the entire tour. The tour was 100%. We were given much information. Our guide's English was excellent. Our guide had excellent knowledge of Argentina's history and was flexible to our needs. Gracias
Alejandro was an exceptional guide. We particularly enjoyed walking and driving through the neighborhoods with him as he brought to life the unique character and historical significance of seven distinct barrios, deepening our appreciation for the beauty of Buenos Aires. His tremendous energy and wonderful sense of humor made the experience even more memorable. We feel fortunate to have had him as our guide and highly recommend him!
Our guide Carlos was fantastic. He showed us many historical sites and local places. He made great suggestions for lunch and shopping. We had taken a private tour of the area previously and many of the sites Carlos had intended to show us we had already seen but he quickly gave us other options and we had the very best day touring with him
Tour guide was excellent. Very good knowledge of the history of Buenos Aires. Saw many of the main buildings of the city. Enjoyed the rose and Japanese gardens.
We had a wonderful introduction to Buenos Aires hosted by Alejandro who was incredibly knowledgeable and great fun to be with. Would recommend the tour. Leigh & Sam H
Tour was everything that was advertised. Sergio and Lara the translator arrived on time and were the perfect host. They explained each stop in depth. By the end of the day we felt we had a very good overview of the city. We highly recommend this tour.
It is very much worth it to see various parts of the city. A private tour is the best way to see the city. Leo was a most excellent tour guide.
Our guide was so good! Annali was very knowledgeable and personable. She made us feel right at home. Do not miss the Ricoletta cemetery. It is so worth the time!
Andres was our guide and he was excellent. He took us everywhere we needed to go and was a very knowledgeable and thoughtful guide. He even took us to a leather shop that was great, and to a shop to find a soccer jersey. We had a wonderful tour. I highly recommend Andres.
