Madi, who is based in Buenos Aires, and her wonderful staff planned a trip to Colombia for us and our adult children several years ago. I could not believe how much fun we had on that short trip, and I knew then that BA Cultural would be our go-to company for Patagonia. We recently returned from spending two and a half weeks in Argentina and Chile - planned by Madi and BA Cultural Concierge. This was a bespoke experience and an outstanding experience from beginning to end. We began in Mendoza, where we visited a sculptor's home and enjoyed an extraordinary lunch with the artist's wife and daughter. The food kept coming, and what an introduction it was to life in Mendoza! Everything was homemade and delicious, and we could not imagine eating dinner just a few hours later...but we did. At Madi's recommendation, we stayed at Susana Balbo's seven-room property. I am extremely particular about hotels, and this property is unique and stunning. The hotel's restaurant was outstanding - and yes, of course, we ate dinner after that extravagant lunch! The staff was fantastic, and we could easily have spent all day staying on the property. The next day included a visit with another artist and several wine tastings. On our final day, we explored the Uco Valley, enjoying lunch at a stunning winery and visiting several smaller wineries. We then flew to Buenos Aires, where we had a wonderful few days combining sightseeing with food tastings. Madi's staff served as our guides, and they were fantastic. A guide from our Mendoza tour had recommended a local hand cream to me, and one of our Buenos Aires guides searched all over the city to find it for me. He picked it up and delivered it to our hotel. That level of service is unheard of! We also loved our Jewish heritage tour. The guide was excellent, and the history was fascinating. Our tango class was nonstop fun, too. Whenever we needed something or wanted to make a last-minute change, such as changing a restaurant reservation, the team made it happen. Next, we flew to El Calafate and stayed at the wonderful Eolo, a heavenly property. We loved our corner room, and the views were unforgettable. Unfortunately, Aerolineas Argentinas lost all four of our bags and took two days to deliver them to the hotel. I was unhappy and very much wanted my clothes. Nestor - or perhaps it was Juan - actually went to the Buenos Aires airport to make sure our luggage was on its way. Who does that? This was service at its very best. The hikes and activities were fantastic. One unforgettable full-day outing included kayaking and hiking through sand dunes, finding ancient relics, lovely guides. We then drove to Tierra Patagonia in Chile, another gorgeous hotel. I recommend splurging on a suite, which includes a private guide for the duration of your stay. Diego, our guide, was terrific. The hotel staff, including Seb, could not have been lovelier. Our trip was filled with fun, gorgeous hotels, exceptional hospitality, fantastic food and incredible service from the BA Cultural team. Madi and her staff planned an impeccable journey, with every last detail in place. I cannot imagine calling anyone else when planning a trip to Buenos Aires or Patagonia. As a luxury traveler, I would not hesitate to recommend BA Cultural. They go above and beyond.

Itinerary
The walking tour starts at our San Telmo office. This is one of the oldest neighborhoods in Buenos Aires and boasts a vibrant tango and arts scene. Its antique markets, street lighting (known as "faroles"), cobblestones, old buildings and original decor add to the unique bohemian atmosphere of the place.
We will visit the San Telmo market, a building inaugurated in 1897 to supply the great wave of immigrants that arrived at that time. Nowadays, you can still find some shops selling meat, vegetables and other groceries, although most of them offer local gastronomy and specialties from all over the world. Here we will taste some delicious empanadas. We will continue our way along Defensa Street, in the heart of San Telmo neighborhood, until we reach Plaza Dorrego.
We will take a bus to La Boca neighborhood, known for the Boca Juniors stadium and the colorful Caminito street. We will be enchanted by street tango dancing and singing performances and learn how tango, soccer and different immigration influences have made Buenos Aires one of the most irresistible cities in the world.
On board another bus we will enjoy the views of the modern skyscrapers of Puerto Madero. We will see the famous "Puente de la Mujer", an iconic landmark designed by Santiago Calatrava. Its unique, asymmetrical shape resembling a couple dancing the tango is a symbol of Buenos Aires' vibrant culture and architectural innovation.
We'll explore Plaza de Mayo on foot, taking in the iconic landmarks such as the historic Cabildo. Along the way, we'll also catch sight of Buenos Aires' main avenues and pay a visit to the magnificent Metropolitan Cathedral.
We will walk around the Plaza de Mayo to see the most important buildings of the country, such as the famous Cabildo. The most important avenues and a visit to the Metropolitan Cathedral.
After touring the square, we will go to the Obelisk, a symbol of Buenos Aires. Be a part of this incredible metropolis, going through the real experience of the daily life of an Argentine citizen.
Walk along the lively 9 de Julio avenue, the widest avenue in the world. Historical buildings, monuments and streets will show the changes that the city has undergone since its foundation.
We will arrive at our last stop: the Recoleta neighborhood by subway where we will find beautiful architecture, a large number of museums, elegant cafes and restaurants, exclusive avenues and shopping malls. We will visit the impressive Recoleta Cemetery, resting place of most of the aristocratic families of the country and of well-known historical figures such as Eva Duarte Perón.
After the visit to the museum, those who have chosen the Rooftop option (Wednesday), we will go to Palacio Barolo, an emblematic building inaugurated in 1923 and declared a National Historic Monument. The building has an architecture with a rigorous symbolism that includes numerous analogies and references to the Divine Comedy by the poet Dante Alighieri.

This is a wonderful tour. I will say you walk for 5 hrs, but we got to see all of Buenos Aires. Our tour guide was terrific. She showed us things we would have never seen on our own. Just a wonderful tour.
Great guide. Above and beyond our hopes. We really appreciate it. Colorful, friendly, helpful and excellent. I recommend it a bunch.
Anahí was our guide and we were very pleased with her knowledge of the city highlights. The pace of the tour was perfect, we had the opportunity to ask questions and we learned a lot about Buenos Aires. We highly recommend this tour and Anahi. She was awesome!
A perfect blend of European elegance and Latin passion. Great city tour with informative stops, though some areas need more time.
loved the tour. went from one side of the city to another. saw so many different parts. learned about many different peoples, foods, and culture. our guide Chan was wonderful, kind, friendly, and very informative.
We covered lots of areas in one day but didn’t feel rushed and our guide Victor was very informative.
This is a very comprehensive tour that covers a lot of ground by using public transportation (buses). Bonus if you schedule this for Sunday is you can walk through the San Telmo street market on your way to the starting point.
A lot of history and information was shared by Denise in our tour. It was easy and fun. Walking is a great way to discover hidden alleyways and gems in the city
Victor was great. It was like havibg a close friend persinally guide thru the various areas of Buenos Aires. He was informative and helpful. We learned a freat deall about his city, its people, and Argentine history.
Nice tour guide, but we were mixed with other couple with another language. Needed to know more information and history about places. Overpriced..
The tour was great Lunch restaurant did not cater for vegans We had to pay for poor food substitute Which were a poor substitute for lunch
Victor was prepared with old photos, magazines and related articles to explain the history of many of the walking tours sites. I really enjoyed this tour, and I felt like I saw many important sites of Buenos Aires as well as have a better appreciation of the local culture and history that built it. Yes, you will take a local bus and a subway, but if you want to experience a tour that immerses you like a local, this is the one! Great job, Victor!
Long walking tour (5 hours) occasional hop on a City bus. Tour guide talked at us but the lecture was boring. Too much of standing around to hear the tour guide talking.
Victor, our guide, was excellent with his presentation, history, and insights. He was patient and informative and spoke very good English.
our tour was scheduled on a day the tour office was closed, so no one was there- but our guide came and was wonderful. Gabi was very knowledgable, friendly and engaging. Five hours may seem like a long tour, but the pace was perfect and it actually flew by because it was so interesting and entertaining. Highly recommend- also we used public transportation (bus and subway) and went to local restaurants so it is a great way to orient yourself to the city a bit.
The tour started out well at the San Telmo market. But we found that a lot of the items on the tour itinerary were changed or did not happen at all. First we only got one empanadas not three which was plenty but then why say that? We had wanted to see the Puente de la Mujer but it wasn't even pointed out. A bathroom break was at a store where we were grossly overcharged but didn't realize it until later as we were in such a hurry. Then our guide said lets get on the subway to go to Recoleta but I knew the itinerary said we were to go to the Obelisk and told him that so he raced us down the street and said there it is. Now get on the subway. Once in Recoleta we went for coffee. I'm not sure why because it wasn't listed but our guide did eat there. Then we went to the cemetery. This is the thing we wanted to see the most so we were very excited. But when we got there it had just closed moments before. He said we could come back tomorrow even though the ticket in was supposed to be included. We couldn't return because our flight was that night. We had even booked our hotel close so we could see it. We were heartbroken! Don't book this tour unless you confirm with the guide what you will be seeing. Don't rely on their site.
Everything. Our guide was very professional and explained so many topics around Buenos Aires. What a beautiful city.
This was probably one of the worst walking tours I have taken in any city anywhere. Too much time was wasted at the jam-packed San Telmo market. The tour guide took a long time taking orders for 13 people for various combinations of 3 empanadas for each person. It took a long time to prepare the food and then eat it. It was difficult to find seating to eat it too. Consequently, a lot of time was wasted at this spot which caused us to have to skip a number of sites that were supposed to be on the tour, such as the Boca Jr. Stadium, the Obelisk, and most importantly, the Recoleta Cemetary. We literally were running for many blocks to try to arrive there before closing (which I did not enjoy). But, despite the running and skipping other sites, we arrived at closing time and they would not let us into Recoleta, no matter how much the tour guide begged and pleaded with them. The tour guide was doing the best she could. The problem was the San Telmo market should have been let off of the itinerary because the excessive time there made it impossible to see several other sites that were supposed to be on the tour. It was disappointing. I could have done better on my own.
Saw many of the cultural and historical highlites of the city. Detailed explanations made what we were seeing clear.
Very interesting walk around the city. Our guide Alexandra had all the details ready for everything we passed. Would absolutely recommend!
Great tour. Enjoyable, informative and fun. Our tour guide made the experience memorable. What a beautiful city!
Our guide Carlos was very knowledgeable. But he tried to do too much on the tour. We took 2 busses and felt rushed trying to see so much of the city in a short time.
Knowledge guide with great English language skills. Hit most of the high points of the city in one day. Covered a lot of ground on foot and via local buses Got a feel for Buenos Aires as a local might experience it
We covered a lot of ground. Gabi was very personable and knowledgeable. We especially appreciated his passion for Argentina.
Great walking tour with interesting information by our excellent guide Carlos. We learned and saw a lot about what makes Buenos Aires unique.
Excellent all around! Our guide Gabriel was kind and helpful and very knowledgeable. We really enjoyed the tour and felt it was the perfect blend of sightseeing and experiencing the local culture. Would definitely recommend!
Excellent overview of Buenos Aires. Well paced. Our guide Gabby was a delightful young man. Intelligent knowledgeable and friendly. He made the experience wonderful. The small group of 5 was good
Excellent guide with very good English, very interesting itinerary and a fun group to tour with. It was fun to use a number of buses and a subway trip.
The best experience ever. Very knowledgable guid. Thanks for sharing your love to BA. After this day tour i fell in love with Buenos Aires even more
We seemed to spend too much time wandering streets initially that weren’t that interesting and we walked well out of our way for empanadas. So we were short of time at Boca and the cemetery where it would have been good to spend longer. The add on of roof top drinks and food is definitely not worth doing. Food empanadas again, how very silly, and two drinks of your choice.
Our guide Carlos was extremely knowledgeable, he provided history behind the tour spots and how all are connected. I just wish that he would speak a bit more clear English as I could just understand enough to follow what he was saying. He was very nice, helpful and did a great job though.
Great introduction to Buenos Aires with a knowledgeable guide that told many anekdotes that make us remember more of the things seen and done
Carlos is very knowledgable, enthusiastic and friendly, and a bit academic. If you do this as your first tour of the city you'll get a really good sense for Buenos Aires. The roof top patio portion of the tour was incredible, the sunset over the city was spectacular ... a fantastic way to end a good day.
I enjoyed the walking tour. I have come many times to Buenos Aires but only after this tour I feel I know better the city. Carlos the guide is knowledgeable, kind and professional. I recommend this tour
Victor was great! Very knowledgeable about the city and we went to many different barrios. Would recommend!
My first time in Buenos Aires so I wanted to walk and get a feel for the city and it's people. I was met by Clemencia at a nice cafe by the Oblesik. We strolled for several hours through the San Telemo section of the city. Her English was excellent. Her knowledge and passion about Buenos Aires and Argentina was infectuous. I got a real feel of the flavor of the city. I was fortunate enough to have Clemencia again on a tour of the Recoleta Cemetery. Again we strolled through the cemetery and her knowledge, passion and presentations were the best I have experienced on any tour. I highly recommend Buenos Aires Walking Tours and insist on Clemencia.
We did this our first day. It was a nice way you experience a bit of the city. It showed us a few highlights and helped get introduced to the city. The guide had lots of knowledge of the place we visited and was very nice. It was very quick but we saw a lot on a short time. Would recommend
Great walking tour around parts of the city. Interesting areas of the city visited with excellent guide & commentary. Great timing with the added delights of bus and underground travels. Guide went out of his way to make the day fun interesting and enjoyable. Would we recommend: Yes
Overall the tour was very good and Carlos was very knowledgeable about the history of the various sites. The only thing that could have made it “perfect” would be to have a little block of free time to wander around a couple of places to look for trinkets and souvenirs (like in the La Boca area). This is a great way to see many parts of the city all within several hours as well as get the local experience of riding on the local buses and metro system. We enjoyed the tour but there quite a bit of walking involved.

Really enjoyed this tour, our guide was very knowledgeable and patient, working the itinerary around our cruise ship embarkation. Covered the main areas and we travelled by bus and metro!
This was a good walking tour. It covered a few areas different areas, taking the bus and tram which was all included. A very good introduction for us on our first day in this lovely city. The tour size was about 13 which I felt was too large but our guide was very informative and we learnt a lot.
The tour was good overall. It covered the main parts of BA, and it was a walking tour which I always recommend, as you experience the place better with using public transport. Our tour guide was informative, and answered the questions we had. He does speak very softly though, so I would recommend you stand close to him at all times! I think a small speaker would be handy, like alot of other guides do. Overall, a solid tour.
All good. Guide Victor was very informative and interesting. Went a reasonable pace. Very friendly. We highly recommend it.
Our guide was very knowledgeable and had interesting information to share, but he was soft spoken and our group numbered 13 people so unless you were right next to him, it was difficult to hear what he was saying. And a group size of 13 made it hard to be right next to him. With that being said, it is a beautiful city and the tour does a great job to cover the highlights.
Amazing way to spend our first day in BA getting to know an overview of the different parts of the city. I recommend bringing a sun umbrella because the last hour was a bit difficult due to the heat.
Rosita the tour guide was great and I gave her a large tip. The actual tour was lacking in a few areas . we only visited one courtyard in San Telmo as we walked thru it. Caminito street was a nice stop . I don't remember seeing much in the Puerto madero stop. Plaza deMayo stop was very good and Our guide showed us a lot there. Oblelisco & Avenida part was a quick walk thru. Our guide did a nice job showing us around the Recoleta Cemetary. Would have been nice to get a map that showed where we were walking. During the tour we took 3 different buses to the various districts so it wasn't all walking.
We did the walking tour of La Boca which included the history and art history of this port area. We viewed the painted houses, the areas that had been Conventillos(tenements) and learned about the role of the mostly Italian immigrants from Genoa in this area. We also got a history of the futbol teams in La Boca. Well done tour. We also did the Congress/Tribunal walking tour, which was 3 hours long and went into great detail about the history of the city, Evita Peron, the architecture of the downtown area and the history around Plaza de Mayo and Las Madres de la Plaza. I recommend this tour (highly)
We got some exercise walking around the city. We took two city buses and one subway ride. These were included as part of the tour. Plenty of sites and information about the city. We started at 10 AM. We just walked to the tour office which was about 30 minute walk from our hotel. Weather was perfect out so thee walk was pleasant. Our tour ended at 4 PM. We walked from where the tour ended back to our hotel. We stopped for lunch around 1:30 PM. It was nice to eat and relax. Everyone paid for their own lunch. At times our tour guide was a little hard to hear because of the surrounding noise of the city. He did not use an electronics to amplify his voice. Overall we probably walked a total of 2 miles on the tour. With plenty of chances to sit on buses, subway, lunch, etc.... Overall a great experience.
