Maui was a great tour guide with a wealth of knowledge about BA. We had an amazing day and tried so many places we would have not known about. Thank you Maui!

Plaza Lavalle is also a great example of what we call “la grieta”, the big divisions in the country. Boca-River, peronism-antiperonism, unitarios and federales.
We will go to Galerías Pacífico, a former commercial gallery, the main office for the Buenos Aires al Pacífico train line, the National Trains, a dictatorship concentration camp and a mall in the 90s. A building with a lot of history,
Where downtown meets the train stations and the port, center of the ins and outs of Argentine culinary culture: the River and the train tracks.

Tatiana was a knowledgeable guide and very friendly… the historical context worked well and of course the food selection was great
We have taken three Culinary Backstreets tours and have rated all three 5-stars. They are all deserving of it without any qualifications. Our guide, Esteban, was knowledgeable, engaged, responsive, and gave far more than the minimum necessary for this tour to be a success. Buenos Aires is a complex city in a complex country with a complex history. The gustatory component of the tour was fun but the broader commentary is what really made this (and our other Backstreets tours) outstanding. We recommend it, and them, without reservation.
Tatiana was our guide and she was amazing. We had such a great time learning about not only the cuisine, but also the complex history of Buenos Aires. We very much enjoyed the experience. We haven’t been able to find an empanada or medialuna that’s better than what we tasted on this tour. And we are still trying to replicate our favorite chimichurri from the asada place!
Great way to spend a day in Buenos Aires, learning about the city, culinary traditions and more, not to mention sampling a wide variety of food, from breakfast medialunas to a pile of sizzling méats served family style Highly enjoyable day led by Maui!
This food tour was probably the best one I’ve experienced so far. Not only was the food fantastic, but our guide, Maui, really went above and beyond to explain the culture and history of Buenos Aires. He provided a rich amount of insight without it being tedious or overwhelming, and answered even trivial questions with warmth. The locations you visit and the food you eat all reflect different aspects of Buenos Aires, and we left the tour feeling like we understood better the complexity of the people that make up the city. I would not hesitate to recommend this tour to my friends or family members visiting Buenos Aires, or to anyone who is looking for a tour that feels like meeting up with an old friend to eat some really delicious food.
It's the low season so our group tour turned out to be for just the two of us. Our guide, Tatiana, was great, very knowledgeable and engaging, just a nice person to spend a day with. We had plenty of really good food, a nice walk around the city and learned a lot about Buenos Aires and Argentina in general. It was a great way to get an introduction to the city and the country. This was our 2nd food tour with Culinary Backstreets (1st was Tokyo) and both were excellent, so keep up the good work guys!
My husband and I really enjoyed our BA tour with our guide Maui last week. This was our 2nd Culinary Backstreets experience. Maui was super friendly and warm and shared so much knowledge about the city's history, geography, and character and how its food traditions have evolved. We enjoyed each of the stops on the tour, especially the coffee and delicious medialunas at Los Galgos, the artsy cafe, and the meat extravaganza at the parrilla. The other members of our small group were delightful. These tours are really worth it. We're Culinary Backstreets die-hards now!
Our guide, Maui, was exceptional. We started out at an old coffee cafe for delicious breakfast pastries, fruit and coffee. He told us about the history of the cafe, info about the pastries, immigration and so much more. Next stop, a market where he demonstrated making mate and we got a taste and learned about it and the cheese we were sampling. Again, during an Argentine pizza lunch we learned more about immigrants and the origin of this amazing pizza. And there was another stop at an bar where artist gather. Meat empanadas and a delicious drink. He was a fount of info about food, the medical system, education and more. Highly recommend this tour.
This was a great experience. We learned so much about the beautiful city of Mendoza and its wonderful food. Our guide, Mauro, was extremely knowledgeable and assured we had a a memorable experience. This experience is highly recommended.
Enjoyable and informative tour.
Overall enjoyable experience, although an impending bank holiday/weekend meant some venues were closed. Almost overinformative guide who spoke good English. We didn't try any of the standard street food (empanadas etc.) Market visit informative
This was my second tour with Culinary Backstreet and it did not disappoint. Esteban was a great guide; he took our group to a great mix of restaurants and markets. He was knowledgeable in all aspects of Buenos Aires food, culture and customs.
We very much enjoyed our food tour with Maui. The food tastings were all very goo. Maui was a great guide and we also learned about the local neighborhoods and the immigrant influences on the food traditions.
Maui was an excellent tour guide, knew the city inside and out along with the 6 cafes that we visited. Not sure the gelato stop fit the the tour. He related the history of BA with the neighborhoods and cafes, some festive, others peaceful. Customer focused, all questions fully answered, not rushed, good recommendations, like having a friend to taste the city. All good.
Our guide Esteban was very knowledgable and gave us a very interesting overview of Argentinian history and culture. He took us to restaurants and bars that we never would have found on our own, creating a very local experience. I would highly recommend this tour on your visit to Buenos Aires.
What a great way to get to know Buenos Aires. Esteban was a wonderful guide with so much knowledge about the city and its history. The food was delicious and we went to local places we would have never discovered on our own.
Had a wonderful experience with Culinary Backstreets in Buenos Aires. Esteban was a terrific guide, extremely knowledgable about Argentine history, BA culture and how the political and culture has evolved over time. We found him to be very interesting and he could answer any question posed. The food experience was excellent. Delicious and varied foods, in settings that were historical and “local” in nature, were offered. Loved starting out in a historic cafe for breakfast and working our way from there to pizza, spinach fritters, and big meat (all the cuts) plus dessert. The historic bar/cafe where we had a Cynar Julip was awesome…..I will try to make that cocktail at home. Overall, the food tour was both an entertaining and delicious way to to immerse in BA and Argentine culture.
Wonderful food tour - highly recommended! Our guide, Esteban, not only took us through the food of Argentina, he was a font of knowledge providing insightful information about Argentina, its people, customs and culture. At the end of the tour, we felt we understood the vibe of Buenos Aires thanks to Esteban. The food is generous and delicious. The locations selected were unique and definitely local. Esteban also gave us a recommendation for a local pizza joint for our next day that was incredible. Word to the wise, come hungry.
Wonderful experience with Estephan as our guide. Knowledgeable and such an interesting introduction to this wonderful city. The choices a restaurants were interesting and culturally significant. We strongly recommend this experience
We learned a lot about the history of ba and it’s people and foods. Lots of historical information. Great food! Loved the pizza. Estabon is a great guide
Another 5 Star Experience! Culinary Backstreets is THE BEST city food tour, and we took our first one in 2013! Esteban led us through historic sections of the city we'd not normally get to see and the delicious food, BA and Argentinian history, the camaraderie, scenery and city life was all exquisite. Can't wait for the next one!
This was such a fun tour!!! Our guide, Lucia was fantastic!!! We got great communication before the tour started so we knew exactly where to meet and when. The weather was extremely hot on the day of our tour so she modified a few stops on the fly to keep us in cooler locations. All of the food samples we tried were great, starting with the medialuna at los galgos bar and ending with a stop at a chocolate and ice cream shop. We learned a lot about Buenos Aires on the tour and the time flew by so FAST! I highly recommend this tour. You will love it!!
Had a fantastic day on this food tour around the city. It lasted about 6 hours and our awesome guide, Esteban, was very knowledgeable and engaging. Although predominantly a food tour, our guide talked about the origins of the country and city, the history behind the food we were eating and covered a lot of Argentinian culture. The food started with coffee and local pastries, sweet tarts (which we ate in one of the picturesque local squares), local pizza and flatbread, meat platter in a local grill, then finished with local chocolateria. Having done the Culinary Backstreets in Istanbul, this one was equally fantastic. Highly recommended.
Our tour with Estaban was fantastic. We learned about the history and culture of Buenos Aires as we walked and ate our way through the city! Highly recommend this experience.
We had a very good tour with Lucia. She was well versed on the special cultural/literary traditional cafes of Buenos Aires which we found very interesting. Also the special bar/tavern she took us to which was artsy and attractive. The neighborhoods and streets we visited were not what I expected. Too commercial and wide avenues that were not pleasant to walk thru and did not give us a sense of the city's more special neighborhoods. The food was ok but meat is way overcooked and not edible.
