Super laid-back and fun food tour with Fred. It was supposed to be a 2 to 3 hour tour, but we had so much fun. It lasted four hours in the end.. a great way to spend the afternoon. Fred is a cool guy.
Fred is a consummate tour guide & host. Super knowledgeable, fun, and great at welcoming people to a city he obviously loves. He curated locations perfectly as well…the choripan in particular was the best we’ve tried anywhere.
We are a family of three (me, husband, and 15 year old son) and we spent half a day with Fred, our tour guide. We began at the Boca area and then visited a leather store. It’s not like the leather stores in Turkey or Morocco where you feel compelled to buy something. There were leather jackets and purses and shoes. We then went to San Telmo and ate and drank. Fred is full of charm and full of good stories about Argentina. The afternoon felt like time spent with a friend. If you are wanting to hear good stories and eat the tastiest foods, you should sign up to tag along with Fred. Happy Travels.

Fred was the perfect host/guide for this tour around San Telmo and Boca!! He is knowledgeable, witty and very engaging with guests and the personalities around town! We loved hearing the back stories abound the food, history, current affairs, Argentinian culture and popular trends. Learned SO much about BA and Argentina, makes us wish we had weeks to learn and see more!!
Fred is a wildly awesome guide. He’ll give you the most authentic view of the city, and goes above and beyond expectations. He’s accommodating and truly shares his knowledge with you. We talked about food, practiced Spanish, discussed Argentinian culture and social change, and learned of the area’s history. Such a cool experience! My kids loved it and I’m so glad we booked with him. The food was also absolutely delicious too!! The cost was well worth it and he did all of the ordering- more food than our family of 5 could eat! He made it easy to navigate the crowds at San Telmo Mercado and revealed what a warm welcoming feel Buenos Aires has to offer. It was the best use of 5 hours on our trip and I can’t recommend him enough!
Fred is an exceptional guide. He is knowledgeable and entertaining. He was flexible and adapted the tour to our interests while ensuring we were able to see everything. The food and wine was delicious and timed so you could digest between courses.
Fred is an exceptional guide. His English is excellent. He is very knowledgeable and entertaining. Fred adapted the tour and timing of the stops based on our interests but ensured we got to see everything. The value for the price of this tour is outstanding and the food was delicious!
Our tour started about 40 minutes late in Boca. Once our tour guide got there, he was very friendly and showed us the major attractions in the area and got us samples of alfajores and dulce de leche liquor from a local gift shop. This was our only food stop in Boca. After this our guide took us to a leather shop that he frequents on his tours. Not a stop I recommend if you are offered as the prices of the goods are much more expensive than elsewhere both in the city and in other countries. Once we finished we went to the San Telmo, which started with him taking us to different antique shops and pointing out items that interested him. After we concluded that portion we went to the San Telmo market, which was excellent! Here we had empanadas from one of the best stores in Buenos Aires and a churipan sandwich from another market. Once we finished our guide offered to take us to sample other dulce de leche but we declined. At the conclusion of our tour he was kind enough to drive us back to our hotel. For me, a food tour should cover between 4 and 8 locations, depending on the number of items per stop, that serve a variety of local food. This gives you an understanding of the people and the history of a place you are visiting. As such, I would recommend another tour if you are looking for a food tour. If you are looking for a city tour with a local guide and lunch, then this experience is perfect.
Fred is phenomenal. His knowledge, insights and access to special places brought this beautiful city to full life for us. We were so impressed w/ our first half-day w/ him that we booked a second half-day. Both were fantastic! This is a great walking city and Fred’s plans made the walk and attractions much more impactful. Recommend w/ highest emphasis!
Fred was an awesome guide. Very well informed, made us feel comfortable, super accommodating and a very nice guy. He made sure we had the best experience and went out of his way to help us see as much as possible.
Our guide Fred was outstanding, I highly recommend requesting him if possible. He’s funny, personable and knowledgeable about the area and its food scene. You will have a good time with him.
We had just a small amount of time to occupy on our quick stop in Buenos Aires and this satisfied the need. We wanted lunch and some cultural immersion - we got it here! Loaded up with tasty empanadas to start, we walked the market, got to experience the wine window, and then strolled to a artist market (with a few stops to feed the dolce de leche hole we didn’t know we had). Perfect way to spend an afternoon - we came back on the tail end of our trip for more!
We had a wonderful time with Fred on our tour yesterday. He was very informative and enthusiastic. You can tell he really enjoys showing visitors his beloved city. He treated us to some delicious local cuisine. We look forward to seeing him again on a future tour. Thanks again! Kelsey and Katrina
Fred was absolutely wonderful! He immediately felt like a friend that was showing you around the city that he loves! We tasted amazing food and visited a leather shop…we didn’t bring enough cash for the better deal, and Fred stepped in to help, truly going above and beyond at any opportunity…even calling restaurants for availability or sharing recommendations for Mendoza after our tour! I can’t recommend him enough!
Fred was an outstanding tour guide in San Telmo. His energy was infectious, and he immediately made us feel comfortable and engaged. He brought the neighborhood’s history and culture to life with great stories and local insight, all while keeping the tour fun and relaxed. The experience felt personal, well-organized, and memorable from start to finish. Highly recommend booking with Fred if you’re visiting Buenos Aires.
Fred was great ! We had a wonderful food tour and afternoon ! The market was vibrant and cool and Fred was the perfect host !
Fred was super enthusiastic, knowledgeable, funny and diligent. For these eating tours, pace yourself - u can take the food to go. It is all so good. You don’t want to be too full for the next stop. We had a great afternoon with him. He will do tours all over the city so reach out to him for any area you want to explore.
We had an absolute fabulous time with Fred who was one of the best food and tour guides we have ever had and we have had food tours all over the world. Fred did car and walking and knows the areas so we’ll All the people in the area know him by name. Food market was the best. Wine shops (we visited two of them) had great wines (Malbecs and chardonnay) One of the wine shops has a cute wine window and you ring a bell to get your glasses of wine. FUN Thank you beaucoup. FRED
Fred is a fabulous your guide. He took us all over San Telmo and especially the market. He clearly loves what he does and takes care of his clients. A pleasure!
I had an incredible time on this food and walking tour through San Telmo and La Boca. Our guide, Fred, was not only extremely knowledgeable but also warm, funny, and flexible with timing, which made the whole experience feel easy and relaxed. One of the highlights was visiting the San Telmo market. Fred seemed to know so many of the vendors personally, which meant we were able to get great seats, avoid long waits, and really feel like insiders. And the food! I had the best chorizo sandwich of my life here. Every stop felt carefully chosen to show both the flavors and culture of Buenos Aires. Beyond the food, Fred also shared stories and history that brought the neighborhoods to life. From antique shops to the chance to see tango dancers in the street, it was the perfect mix of culture and cuisine. If you’re looking for a tour that goes beyond just eating and helps you experience Buenos Aires through its people, flavors, and traditions, I can’t recommend this one enough.
My and my husband loved this tour with Fred. Fred is very funny, knowledgeable. We loved the Empanadas and the Leather Factory. We never felt rushed. He also gave us lots of advices about restaurants, wines, tango shows and other activities to do in the city. We recommend this experience 100%! This was our highlight on our trip to BA!
Definitely book this tour, you won’t be disappointed. Frank is awesome. My husband and I spent an afternoon with him and we had a great time. It’s not a typical boring food tour, Frank will customize it based on your interests. He loves what he does and has an extensive knowledge about the city and its history. We would book this tour again without a doubt.
Food portion was varied and nice - enjoyed seeing parts of BA we haven’t explored before. We’re not shoppers at all and would have preferred skipping high sell spots. Fred was lovely and very professional with the redirect back to food tour. I’d specify your interests up front or when booking to ensure your tour meets your goals.
This was a great experience with a super nice tour guide. Fred is super accommodating and makes the day special. This is a not to be missed tour.
First time in BA for us and it’s a big city to navigate. Fred was invaluable in making our days there stress free. He met us at AEP in the early afternoon and off we went to see beautiful parks, historical architecture, colorful neighborhoods. Of course Fred was brimming with information about the city he loves. He dropped us at our hotel and promptly appeared the next morning to begin another great day of exploring. Thank you Fred! We highly recommend him.
Great Tour with fun, friendly and knowledgeable Fred. It was a fun day touring San Telmo and La Boca. We tried some great food and laughed a lot together.
Overall good experience. Sampled typical foods from sweet to savory and beverages from mache to a variety of wines. We ended the tour with a nice meal at San Telmo. I was paired with another group ( tour says it is private) which was fine but they were late in arriving and the transportation between sites couldn't hold everyone which further delayed logistics. While OK we spent far too much time at the leather stores. I did appreciate the opportunity to see Tango in the square and the assistance in getting an Uber back to the hotel.
Fred was so hospitable. I loved the market, empanadas, choripans and the wine. I could have skipped the leather shop but that’s me. The shop for mooncakes, wine and tea in La Boca was great
Our tour guide Fred was a joy to spend the afternoon with from a personality standpoint, and he was extremely knowledgeable about the San Telmo area and Buenos Aires in general. He gave us advice about other activities and was flexible & accommodating with our itinerary. All-in-all he’s an excellent host, very personable and a good communicator. I appreciated his sense of humor (lots of laughs) and kindness. Above all—the food that we ate was YUMMY! The San Telmo market was a highlight—I highly recommend it, and Fred. I wish I had taken a full-day city tour with him in addition to the food tour.
Fred was a great host. Very witty and knowledgeable. The tour was relaxed and fun and not rushed. Everyone in our group of four would highly recommend taking a tour with Fred.

Excellent guide who went above and beyond! Spoke perfect English, very knowledgeable, took us to great sites and great bites. Customized tour fit our needs and even drove us back to our hotel. Highly recommended!
Fred was awesome. Very knowledgeable and fun. A great introduction to Buenos Aires and Argentine culture. Empanadas were delicious and we loved the Florentine styled wine window. Tour guide was very high energy throughout and his command of the English language was excellent. It made for a delightful tour.
Fred was amazing. Food was great, wine was good and just the walking tour alone was so worth it. Great sense of humor. And it was just me and my two friends
Fred was a great host. He is very knowledgeable very enthusiastic about the city in which he was born. He showed us some wonderful sites and we had a great experience and tested some lovely local food and wine. I would highly recommend Fred especially if you have an early morning flight landing in Buenos Aires. This will stop you just going straight to your hotel room and lounge in about wasting time.
We arrived in Buenos Aires and on the very first afternoon we headed out on a tour with Fred to taste some local food and see some of the areas of the city that were so new to us. We couldn't have booked anything better; although the temperature was so hot, we had a really relaxed amble around the San Telmo area looking in the antique shops. A visit to a leather shop followed and then some great food and wine tasting in La Boca and back in San Telmo market. Would thoroughly recommend this tour for anybody arriving into BA. Fred was really relaxed, very informative and we had a really good time. He was even kind enough to give us a ride back to our hotel at the end.
One of the best tours I have ever done, extremely complete, including food, history and pleasant company!!! Fred was our guide and he exceeded our expectations, I recommend this tour 200% we had a great time Fred made us feel at home, see you soon Fred!! thanks for everything
We both loved today. It was the best food tour of many we have taken in the world. You are a terrific guide and so congenial in meeting our interests. Never once did I feel rushed. The time went so quickly although we had many wonderful experiences. Thank you for showing us a little slice of your country.
We had a great time on this tour with Fred! It’s a great way to explore the city and learn about the culture and the cuisine. Highly recommend!
Fred was friendly, entertaining and very knowledgeable about the local foods and local culture. Highly recommend it.
Excellent tour of areas of San telmo and Boca. Our tour guide Fred was willing to adjust and move more slowly due to limitation of my husband but managed to show us many in aspects of this area.
Fred was a very knowledgeable and friendly tour guide. The food part of the tour was my favorite. I’m not really an antique connoisseur so going to the different stores to look at them wasn’t for me. Good price value for the tour.
We took the tour with Fred. We enjoyed tasting some wines and eating the sausage sandwich and empanadas. We also got to try the famous Argentina drink mate.
Fred was an awesome guide! He was knowledgeable and gave us a great tour. We tasted delicious food and saw amazing sights. He had numerous behind the scenes stories and plenty of suggestions to make this tour a unique experience.
Fred was absolutely amazing!!! We had wonderful, authentic food, great wine, and inside visits to cool shops and spots around San Telmo and La Boca! The tour of La Boca is absolutely a must for futbol fans. Fred went above and beyond to explain history, culture, and details we would have missed had we not gone on this tour. We feel like we made a local friend with Fred! Muchas muchas gracias!!
Fred is the absolute best! He’s extremely friendly, very knowledgeable, and very generous with his time. He took us to Mercado San Telmo, toured the antique shops and squares with Tango dancing in San Telmo, to a leather factory in San Telmo, and ALL OVER La Boca including multiple tastings of local wines and sweets and a futbol jersey shop. We loved it and will be reaching out to Fred the next time we are back!
Freddie, the tour guide, is very friendly and knowledgeable. I’d personally skip the leather factory/store and stick with the rest of the steps. Overall the tour was really enjoyable.
Fred’s amazing, very personable and knowledgeable. He certainly knows how to entertain. Highly recommend this tour to all who are traveling to Buenos Aires!
