The Mika Tivadar Secret Museum was only a 15-minute walk from our hotel, and we were glad we made the visit. The experience offers a rich account of the building’s own history as well as that of the surrounding area. It was particularly interesting to learn about Blaue Katze, Hungary’s first cinema, the city’s first steam bath, and other lesser known (to me) chapters of local history. This small museum provides a genuine insight into Budapest’s past and is a worthwhile stop for anyone looking beyond the main sights.

Our specialty museum is waiting to invite you for an engaging historical journey. - 140 sqm - 8 languages - voice effects - audio guides on guest mobile. In this same area, you would also find Europe's most famous nightclub, the Blue Cat; Hungary's first cinema, where Michael Curtiz, the director who won an Oscar for the film Casablanca, began his career; and you'll discover the connection between American film actors Sylvester Stallone and Arnold Schwarzenegger and a tiny house on Kazinczy Street.

A very interesting yet eccentric museum about life in the immediate area of the museum over the past 200 years. Fascinating but strange.
Very nice quiant museum took me 45 mins max to walk around, very interesting history and a great collection of artifacts Would highly recommend
Awesome little museum in Budapest with fascinating exhibits. About an hours worth maximum. Reasonable value for money given that you get a free drink too - Definitely recommend.
Lovely small museum which gives you a broad picture of what Budapest was like in its turbulent past. Really enjoyable experience.
This came up for things to do and for $5 it's worth a stop. The Museum only takes 45mins to hour to walk around but the hotel it's in is also worth a stop for a drink and to relax. The building inside is really cool and we looked up the rooms and they are also reasonable. Wish we had booked here for sure. The hotel is located a few minutes walk from the Basilica and many restaurants and shopping. The Museum features information not only on Budapest history but history of the building. 5*
Interesting but only an hour max. Enjoyed the old films, and wall information. More past history would have been good to see.
Very small exhibition with just one room - not much to see. Thankfully it is next door to a very nice bar where you can have a fancy cocktail afterwards. The exhibition is cheap, so if you red to kill half an hour then perfect.
Its a destiantion place!!!Go for it!We had a cocktail there on the bar so it was fantastic to e joy the museum as well.
Really interesting museum, I learned a lot about the area. Afrer the museum I walked around and check what I saw in the museum. Audioguide helped me a lot
Hidden gem.must to see.the different scenes shows Busapest from a special point of view.Budapest Brothels was my favourite.
Absolute must place to visit. Interesting place to see as it describes Budapest from a different angle.
Small, quirky but fascinating museum with a real mix of local stories based on buildings, businesses and people within a short distance of the museum now housed by a hotel/bar. Low cost and worth a visit.
It is relatively small but nicely decorated and the scenes are wonderful.i would love to go back again as half an hour was not enough time to discover everything
Amazing little hidden exhibition in the downtown if you like history! It is open till evening so after you visited you can drink a cocktail in Mitico bar and enjoy live music!
We visited the Mika Secret Museum as a family and loved it. The way the museum has been integrated into the hotel’s historic cellar spaces creates a very special and tangible atmosphere that immediately captivates. Our highlights: We were particularly fascinated by the elaborately recolored video footage. It shows the incredible vibrancy on the streets of Budapest between 1900 and 1945. Through the color, the historical scenes suddenly seem very approachable and lively. It also gives a good insight into the entrepreneurial family of Mika Tivadar. Family check: Highly recommended for families with children who already have an interest in this historical era. Since the exhibition shows both the joyful and the later very sad aspects of this period, it is nothing for very young children, but extremely educational and impressive for older children. Service & cuisine: The service was excellent and extremely friendly! The receptionist was very accommodating and offered us the best possible service – we were more than satisfied. An additional tip is the “Mitico” bar located in the same house. The bartender there is a real professional and could explain to us details about the preparation of any, even exotic drink. Conclusion: Whether you are a hotel guest or simply interested in the history of Budapest: Definitely worth a visit!
A unique museum in the basement of the hotel: a compact history of the buildings in the immediate vicinity, which always makes surprising references to famous people. A very nice idea very well implemented. I really liked the visit.
very interesting, although small it is absolutely worth visiting if you are interested in the history of the city.
