Augustine was very knowledgeable and patient. We truly enjoyed our 2 hours of tasting many wines and learning about the Hungarian wine regions and varieties.

Itinerary
A crash course on Hungary’s increasingly fabulous wines featuring a sommelier-led evening tasting of 8 fine wines paired with a selection of food pairings. Featuring a carefully curated selection of eight great Hungarian wines, this sommelier-led tasting distills the wide range of Hungarian wine into a comprehensible story. Over two hours you’ll get a good overview of Hungarian wine—including the history, the major regions, the important varietals, unique characteristics and styles, and promising trends. We buy our wine directly from the producers, who we have gotten to know well over the years, and every wine you will taste during the course of the tasting will be there for a reason. By the end of the tasting you will have a good understanding of Hungary’s place in the world of wine (and plenty of good wine in your belly). This tasting is designed for anyone with an interest in wine, who would like to know more about the relatively unknown wines of Hungary. The final wine in the lineup will be a glass of sweet wine from Tokaj, one of the world’s greatest sweet wines This tasting is accompanied by a selection of local food pairings.

My wife and I visited this week. We had the 1800 tour with about 10 different wines and some charcuterie. Our guide was Ben. We loved it. Ben was knowledgeable and patient. He knew all the areas, their terroir, their grapes and the history. We tasted a broad cross section of Hungarian wines and left confident enough to order something in a local restaurant. We learned a great deal about Hungary in general as well a sufficient amount about Hungarian wine. Sad to say that you can’t order a case to be shipped home given the current tariff situation. Easy to recommend this group
One of the best wine tasting I have been to. The wines were excellent, the cheese board delicious. Learnt a lot about the Hungarian wines. Many thanks.
it was a grat night (14mar2026), we come form Hungary, and regardless that this should be a tourist thing, it was just such a fun night! we learned so much about our own country's wine regions and processes, grape types, the indusrty as nowadays or what changed by time but in a light and digestable way for someone who is not a wine expert. I have to say that we had a great somelier, Tamás U., he was fun and explained all in an easy way, he is so full of knowledge, presenting the wine and food with passion and love, trully was a pleasure to be a part of the night. If you not hungarian come to get to know our culture here, if you are, to know more about it!
This was a wonderful introduction to the phenomenal wines of Hungary! Not only did Balint provide an informative and delightful experience for all, I got to meet some wonderful fellow guests. The venue is a lovely and comfortable cellar. We tasted four whites (including a fabulous orange wine), three reds, and two sweet wines with a variety of cheeses and meats. I highly recommend this experience!
If you like wine and have some knowledge about it. You will love this tour. Bali was so good at explaining the history and wine regions. The wines were excellent. The choices were unique. I would highly recommend this tour.
The wine tasting was a well worth it experience. The sommelier was very knowledgeable and could answer all of our questions. There were only two of us so it felt like a private lesson! Also the wines were all quite tasty. I highly recommend this experience whether you are travelling alone or not.
If you like to learn about wine and of course drink wine, this booking is for you.
This was such a great experience! Tomas was so knowledgeable and passionate it was great to listen to. All the wines and food pairings were delicious and it was so enjoyable to learn about Hungarian wines.
Loved the tour. The guide was knowledgeable and the price/food/wine/time to cost ratio was perfect.
Ben was a great host and was very versed in Hungarian wine. We ended up coming back to the shop the next day to buy a couple of bottles of what we had sampled. Charcuterie selections were amazing as well. This was a fun way to start our trip in Budapest as we felt more knowledgeable selecting wines at restaurants during our stay.
Tamas is a vintner and so knowledgeable about Hungarian wines and wine growing regions. Our charcuterie plates were perfect complements to the delicious wines we tasted. He shared history and both wine and culinary expertise with us. We highly recommend this sophisticated experience!
An approachable and informative introduction to Hungarian wine in a gorgeous historic cellar by knowledgeable and passionate sommelier.
Though billed as a „Premium“ tasting, I’m afraid we were a bit disappointed with some of the selections. The wines just seemed average, especially the reds. Otherwise, it was an enjoyable setting and pleasant wine host.
Great wine and cheese tasting. The guide was very knowledgeable and very good host. The wine and cheeses were great. Highly recommend.
If you are looking for a friendly but very professional wine tasting experience, you’ll find it here. I always schedule a tasting here whenever I visit Budapest. The vast selection of wines and the broad knowledge base of the sommeliers will not disappoint. If you’ve never tasted Hungarian wines, be prepared for a unique experience. There are so many indigenous grapes in Hungary. You’ve never heard of many of them but they will impress you. If a fun, friendly, intelligent evening is in your plans this is the place. Not to be missed. Highly recommended.
What an interesting wine tasting! A map showing the wine growing regions, a lot of information and thoughtfulness from the guide, and really interesting Hungarian tastes complemented the tasting perfectly. I can't remember a more informative and fascinating tasting. This was such a wonderful and educational evening.
We loved everything about this experience. A small group of people in a cozy environment with an expert host imparting his vast knowledge of the regional wines. The cheese and local meats were a perfect accompaniment. Thankyou for a memorable evening
Great evening in a lovely venue learning about the history and wine making expertise across Hungary and sampling several excellent wines from various regions. Have enjoyed this experience twice and very likely to repeat for a third time when I next return to visit Budapest.
We went on a weekday night in early March and ended up as the only ones booked that night. It was a very pleasant, relaxed evening with the sommelier in the cozy wine cellar. We are fairly experienced wine drinkers and tasters and enjoyed learning about Hungarian wines, the country's wine business, and a little about Hungarian cheeses and meats. It is not expected that one will love every wine tasted, but we felt this was a really good value--for the experience and opportunity to learn from a knowledgeable and earnest host. The cheese and charcuterie were quite tasty, too.
An excellent evening full of wine, and great local cheeses & meat. Ben was super knowledgeable. I will be stocking up on Hungarian wines!
Excellent wines, food and host. Great venue, good value for money, we had a great evening and would highly recommend - also really cute venue
This was a really lovely intimate evening and a great way to meat people from others areas of the world. The experience from start to finish was amazing with having a very informative sommelier, through telling us the history of Hungary itself along with the making of their wine. Each wine was delicious along with its food paring and I couldn’t recommend this experience enough.
Great experience, very interesting and met some lovely people. Fantastic wines and cheeses. Would definitely recommend.
Thomas, sorry about the spelling of your name was a great wine expert. He taught us so much about Hungarian wines. I loved this experience. It’s more couples that go to this, but you can definitely do it solo
I had a wonderful wine tasting led by Thomas, a highly knowledgeable and passionate sommelier. He shared fascinating insights not only about the wines but also about Hungarian history, making the experience truly immersive. All 8 wines we tasted were excellent. I walked away with a much deeper understanding of how Hungary’s diverse microclimates and soil compositions shape the unique character of its wines. Highly recommended!
Be prepared to have a good tine....meet people from all over the world....exchange different views on the wines you ate tasting.
We loved our wine tasting. Host was fabulously informative and engaging. We had a really good time. Wines were great, food was lovely. Highly recommend.
It was very informative and friendly, amazing experience! Tasted many wines red and white with generous pours.
This was a fun start to a Saturday evening out. I appreciate that the groups are small. As a solo traveler it made it very easy to chat with the other guests. The sommelier, Bolasz, was very knowledgeable but did not over complicate the tasting at all. The cellar setting is really nice. The charcuterie pairing was delicious as well! It’s a fun couple of hours, tasting delicious Hungarian wine, and making new friends.
They upgraded me for free to the deluxe experience courtesy of two of people booking that option, so that was very nice of them! Overall, informative and enjoyable, great quality wines and food, plus the sommelier resisted the urge to talk about aromas and flavours and stuck to the facts.
Fantastic experience! Had a really nice sommelier who talked us through the history of Hungary wine and the different wine regions. Food and wine was great, sadly felt a little rushed in the end and more time would have been nice.
This was a wonderful experience! The cheese and charcuterie was delicious. Met some fabulous new people and now friends.
If you enjoy learning about and drinking wine, I highly recommend this evening wine tasting. Our session was led by Sam ( I think that was his name), who was actually Spanish but very knowledgeable about Hungarian wine. We sampled eight different wines and all were delicious. Sam was very generous with his time (and his pours!) and our session went quite a bit longer than the allotted two hours. The room was very comfortable and we enjoyed the atmosphere and the yummy cheese and charcuterie that accompanied our wines.
I wish I could remember the young man’s name that was our expert. He was from Spain with only two years in Hungary but really knew his Hungarian Wine and history of. I was surprised at how great all of the wines were. There were 8, and not small pours! I also appreciate they gave us info on how to order the wine in the USA since we don’t ever see it on the shelf.
We ended up with a small group- just 3 couples. We were quite a quiet group but had a wonderful time. Sam was an excellent host and gave us plenty of knowledge about the wine and food. He was also good humoured and friendly. I would recommend this experience to anyone. It was excellent value for money and a chance to do something completely different. Hungarian wine is rare outside of Hungary so it was a great beginners experience of Hungarian wine.
Great experience highly recommended. Nice atmosphere and venue and staff were knowledgeable and personable made for a great evening trying Hungarian wines and some local produce. Good size portions of the wine with each glass
It was great fun & learnt about wine 🍷. So did what we wanted it to. Guide was really informative & helpful . We recommend!
Learnt stuff about cheese and wine, which was the whole point! There was a really big Swiss 🇨🇭 group and that made it all a little but chaotic but much fun.
A very informative dive into Hungarian wines, wine regions, and central European culture, all intertwined togeter with strong personal touch and deep knowledge. Highly recommended.
This was such a great experience. The venue was cute and our host John was full of good information and made the event very enjoyable. We sampled a number of red and white wines that all had something unique about them.
Excellent opportunity to try several Hungarian wines and learn about the country. The sommelier was very knowledgeable about food and wine and entertaining!
My husband and I received this experience as a Christmas gift from our son. The atmosphere was authentic and very cozy. felt like I was in a wine cellar. The man leading was very welcoming and had a vast knowledge of Hungarian wines. The wines were delicious and we enjoyed the charcuterie and cheese. Suggestion: perhaps extend the time from 2 hours to 2.5. Tasting 8 wines in less than 2 hours was a little rushed. Overall a great experience. I have told many friends how much enjoyed it. Thank you!
Highly recommended for tourists who want to explore hungarian wines. Friendly to foreigners, sommelier’s English is easy to understand. The atmosphere and food are also very food. Wine selection also very interesting. 不常品酒的朋友也非常喜歡!
We did the essentials of Hungarian wine tasting. I would highly recommend it. With a fantastic time trying eight different types of wines, which were all good. Our host was extremely knowledgeable and fun. If you like wine and wanna learn about and taste Hungarian wine this is a great place to do it.
Tomas the sommelier was exceptional we learnt a lot about Hungary wines, grapes and history. A must do for wine lovers
Excellent experience, charming host, interesting stories and wonderful wine. Lovely evening. Great little venue too.
Great wine tasting selection of lovely hungarian sparkling, white and red wines, cheeses and meats. Thamas was a great host very knowledgeable and great fun. Wonderful nievening would definitely recommend.
Loved this wine tasting experience! A good variation of wines and nibbles were excellent quality too. Very well organised and Tomasz was very knowledgable. Thank you.
Wonderful evening, great company, superb wines and an insight into Hungarian cheeses and charcuterie. All this alongside exceptional knowledge imparted in a friendly manner, no wine snobbery here! Would wholeheartedly highly recommend.
