The course location was easy to find, and we were even sent a photo of the venue in advance. All communication beforehand was pleasant and professional. The course itself was informative and enjoyed by all our colleagues. The lady who led the cooking class was very friendly and made a great effort. We were all able to make 2-3 Baumkuchen and take them home with us. Some background music might have been nice to make the atmosphere more relaxed.

Amazing experience! We had high expectations for our baking/pastry class since my husband is from Hungarian heritage and we wanted to learn how to make some family favorites (Dobos torte, Langos & apple strudel). It was the highlight of our trip! Marti was such fun and a great teacher!
The entire experience was a highlight of our trip. Marti was so organized and hospitable we loved our time with her learning about Hungary and experiencing foods and making some delicious desserts too! We’ve made the recipes at home and they work wonderfully.
Chef Marti is an inspiring chef and a fantastic teacher. We spent four hours with her making traditional Langos, Strudel and Dobos cake, and we feel we will be able to make these delicious treats at home with her recipes. The atmosphere was really fun and relaxed. Her English was clear and precise. You will have a great experience with her.
Marti was amazing a joy/pleasure to spend 4 hours with. Thank you, Marti. I did not have to mention the baking as both my old mum and I loved it!
A wonderful class about strudel making. Marti was an EXCELLENT teacher. Her passion for cooking/baking was extraordinary. We learned so much not only about the art of perfecting the pastry dough but also about the Hungarian culture and her heritage. A thoroughly enjoyable time from start to delicious finish.
If it was possible to leave 10 stars, I would definitely do so! The class was all that I hoped for and more! Marti is incredibly knowledgeable and kind with a great background in both baking and Hungarian food. She described the techniques so well, explained the process clearly, and could help me understand the various different ways a recipe could be used. She is a great storyteller as well and made me feel right at home. The food was wonderful and the next time I am in town I will certainly be booking another class! If you are at all interested in classic Hungarian baking or just a fun way to spend some time in Budapest and learn more about the food- this is the teacher for you!
Marti was amazing! She is so knowledgeable and kind, she made us feel so welcome in her kitchen. It was a fantastic experience and I would recommend it to anyone going to Budapest!
Honestly this was the highlight of an amazing trip to Budapest. Marti made the whole thing fun for adults and kids. It was incredibly well organized, constantly entertaining, and delicious. She was able to weave in history, her family's experience, and great baking tips into an amazing experience my children (and I) will never forget.
I wanted to try some experience baking local cuisine and with Marti it was an amazing experience! Great lovely studio (really jealous) and good location. She was very tentative to explaining everything and making sure everyone had a good time. She explained a lot of history and answered questions we had. Next time I am in Budapest I will try one of her other courses definitely! The Strudel was amazing btw! Can’t wait to make it for my family when I go home :) Highly recommend her class !
I had a wonderful evening learning to bake with Marti. I arrived at her beautiful apartment, filled with dried lavenders from the countryside, with ease and everything was meticulously prepared for me. A welcome drink of apricot Palinka and two homemade cordials (elderflower by Marti, raspberry by her mother - I trust her mother’s skill already!). Her knowledge of Hungarian cuisine and the culture around it was fantastic - as we made the Langos breads she told me all about the countryside where she grew up, the fruits and flowers and wine (I must visit one day!). I was really keen to learn how to stretch the strudel dough myself so she made sure we did that together, which was so kind. And her beautiful Dobos cake will be my new go-to for impressive desserts - I’d never have managed the fancy caramel topping by myself. Just wonderful. I can’t recommend her classes enough!
If you enjoy baking or want to learn to bake Marti is your gal! She greeted us with home made Hungarian drinks (that were delicious & make you strong) and then we baked! I am an avid baker & my friend Joy is not & we absolutely loved this class. Marti is so patient & walks you thru step by step making your menu choices. We chose a Dobos cake, Langos & Strudel & WOW they were wonderful. Marti shares Hungarian history, kitchen history, tips & tricks while you are baking. The conversation flowed while we were baking. We learned so much from Marti!! We want her to be our best friend! Come take this class!!! You won’t regret it!! The results are beautiful, tasty treats & a new friend in Marti!
Really enjoyable experience!! Marti was very friendly and a great teacher. Food was delicious and definitely something I'm going to try at home. Only issue was that I ate too many of the Langos and had to lie down for a bit when I got back to my hotel, but it was worth it! Highly recommend!
Had a great time learning about Hungary, some of it's history, about the food, wine, and drinks, as well as life in Budapest and in the countryside. We learned how to make several very interesting and tasty baked goods. My wife is a excellent baker and she really enjoyed the techniques and the different styles of baked goods. I learned quite a bit and ate very well (and a little too much).
I'm a baker, not a cook, so I was thrilled to find a baking class, and it did not disappoint. Marti was lovely. She patiently guided us through the recipes for langos, apple strudel, and Dobos cake, and the three in our group (including my husband and I) had a great time chatting and learning about the recipes and Hungarian culture. I can't wait to try these recipes again at home! Thank you, Marti, for a great experience!
Cooking is a great way to experience a different culture. As you work through several Hungarian pastries, Marti patiently guides you and gives you some history and thinking behind dishes. Success is guaranteed and you have a yummy outcome. I took this class with three teenaged boys: 14-19. Great success!
My husband, our adult son, and I signed up for Marti's baking class and we loved every minute of it. Marti is a wonderful host and teacher. We got a great look at Hungarian cooking and baking as well as finding out about Marti and her culinary expertise. We made a Dobos six layer cake(!), two kinds of strudel and the famous Hungarian langos (fried dough). Everything turned out great and we celebrated by eating it all with a glass of delicious Hungarian wine. thank you, Marti!
I took Marti's Hungaring Baking and Pastry class and it was such a great experience. Not only was it a great baking class, but Marti offered valuable advice and suggestions for my time in Budapest. I tried out some of the recipes for my family, which they greatly enjoyed! If you are looking for a unique experience during your trip to Budapest, take this class with Marti! She is excellent and it was one of the highlights of my trip.

This baking class was such a great addition to my trip to Budapest. You get to try some homemade Palinka and soda. Marti is a wonderful instructor and host. Since there was some down time while waiting for yeast to rise, she was able to give some suggestions on things to do while I was in Hungary. The desserts themselves were so delicious and I cannot wait to try them for my family! I would highly recommend taking her baking class!
