A fun evening with good food, dancing and music. The venue is a bit tight, but the good times are not. Dancing was by two couples and well done. The music was everything from Strauss to folk by a string trio. All was well done. Food was also part of the show...and it was tasty.

Reviews
Great dancers and musicians. 30 minutes of music, 30 minutes of dancing and a 20 minute break. Food was excellent, staff very friendly .
The band were a trio playing recognisable music, dancers were good too lots of stamping, clapping and thigh slapping. Food and drink was nice too. Would recommend well worth the price
Even though we only booked the month before the booking was invalid as they don’t operate on a Monday. Only found out when got there and o phoned up. Annoying as viator contacted us day before saying looking forward to our visit. Full refund but wasted evening!!!
Took a taxi from our hotel to the location which had a major power outage and found a note that the performance was moved onto a river cruise 2 1/2 hours later which interfered with our scheduled plans. Now had to taxi yo another location. The river cruise was nice and unexpected, the musicians were great as well as the couple that danced a few routines. My expectation was we would see many dancers performing many different styles of their culture over the 90 minute show.
Cozy atmosphere, great service. I enjoy every moment of the show. Really gave me a taste of traditional Hungarian music.
Enjoyable time, good value for the price. Dancers and musicians were wonderful.
absolutely outstanding the staff were cheerful and helpful. the show was breathtaking. i would recommend this to everyone
Very poor quality show. Very tight room. Horrible view to show. Bad service.
Great evening with super dancing and music. Only 4 stars as the main course was served warm. Staff very friendly and helpful, not overly expensive.
We enjoyed the experience. Signs on walls had some interesting facts about local foods drinks and customs. The servers were friendly and the space was like a wine cellar . The music two violins and base was very nice and the musicians had fun playing. The dancers, two couples were energetic and engaging and close up. They danced maybe 6-8 dances in two sets with one costume change. We enjoyed getting to balance wine bottle on our heads for pictures. We had goulash with our tickets but you are also able to order off the menu so we got dessert too!
The host who greeted us were cheerful and welcoming. The food was tasty and appropriate amount. The dancers were so fun to watch and had great chemistry. We enjoyed the fast pace of the dancing, very energetic performance! The musicians were wonderful as well! We really enjoyed the violinist who really engaged his audience.
What's the point of going to a dance show when you can't see the dancers from the waist down? The venue, which is one long aisle with tables and chairs on both sides, is not constructed for this kind of show. When we asked the waiter if the dancers were ever going to come down to our end of the aisle he said no. Then he said, "I know. That sucks for you." No kidding. We left halfway through.
I was informed this would be in a theater with many dancers on stage and more musicians. Instead , it was a cabaret setting with 2 couples doing a few dances and a 3 musicians. The music was partly Hungarian but mostly not. The music and dancing were fine, but not what was advertised. It would not have been so disappointing if we had known what to expect. False advertising
Interesting excursion. Train ride to see some of the countryside and arrived at a charming and older town. Lots of sights and food, beverage and shopping options. Rudi our guide was well informed about Hungary and the town and very accommodating to our walking limits. Loved the day!
The musicians were outstanding and the dancers were very good. They all seemed to be enjoying themselves.
This show features talented dancers and (in my opinion) even more talented musicians. The show is fairly short (roughly 90 minutes) so I recommend seeing if you can fit it into your schedule. The music, dancing, and outfits will definitely make you feel as though you're in a different era. The only recommendation I have for the show is to have a pamphlet or something that explains what you're seeing and exactly when/where it's from. There are plenty of restaurants immediately next to the theater and we found the area safe and well-lit. You can also pay a bit extra and take advantage of the taxi pickup/drop-off option to your hotel. Regardless, we found the theater nice and the show highly entertaining.
Worst experience with a ticket agent ever. I can’t comment on the show but I won’t patronize businesses who clearly hate tourists. Asked to see a seating chart and the agent flipped out. I like to know what I’m buying, doesn’t seem unreasonable. To the management your employee on 5/19 at 11:30’should be fired for his rude and unprofessional behavior. I wanted to see this performance but not worth the aggravation. Big skip for me
An absolutely amazing performance from the musicians and dancers. It was very lively the whole time and I felt like I learnt a lot from watching the performance about traditional Hungarian culture. The only issue I had were some guests were inconsiderate and standing up in front of people to get pictures of the performance. Luckily it was just briefly, but it was a bit selfish and if they wanted a better view they should have paid more money for better seats like we had done.
The room where the show took place did not have the minimum conditions, as shown in the photograph I took and which I share here. The artists should have performed the show on a stage, which did not happen. I got the impression that the show was held in an improvised room and not in the usual room as shown in some promotional photographs of the event. It was a disappointment, not least because the musicians and dancers are in fact very competent, but the conditions of the room did not allow spectators to appreciate it properly. I'm sorry, but it fell short of expectations and given the price of tickets, expectations were defrauded.
Interesting to see. Great performers. Girls could be more smiling😆. Boy dancers are fantastic. Gypsy orchestra really great!
My friend and I were so pleased that we booked this experience! Having never been to Hungary before, we wanted to plan several events in advance that would be a good reflection of the Hungarian culture. The dancing and musicianship were excellent and the venue was easy to locate and gorgeous inside.
This show was good with great music and dance performances. Was a nice way to experience Hungarian culture.
Had a wonderful evening. The dancers and musicians are amazing. Beautiful costumes. Very friendly staff. Especially Emma. Definitely a must see!
Wanting to experience the traditional Hungarian music and dance traditions this program did not disappoint. As a long time folk dancer and lover of traditional music my standards are high. The dance troop was high energy and seemed to enjoy their dancing and had big smiles. Really amazed that the ladies could dance with flasks of wine on their heads and then switch the flasks from head to head. The men were high steppers with lots of finger snapping and what Americans would call hamboning to emphasize the moves. The musicians were excellent and played a variety of fast and slow tunes highlighting the skills of each musician. As a souvenir of the evening I bought their CD. The venue was held in the old Danube Palace which added to the old world charm and character of the evening. Others may think it looks tired. The people on either side of me also thoroughly enjoyed the performance thought they should have had a standing ovation. It was a really enjoyable evening.
A perfectly fine way to spend an evening. However, there was more music than dance in the performance.
We went last night with your four year old daughter and had a wonderful expereince. Like others have written, the performers were energetic, both dancers and musicians. Many costume changes. The staff was courteous and helpful and happy to answer any questions. Yes, the building is not necessarily in the best shape, it does have character and we appreciated the architecture. Would highly recommend.
Good folkloric presentation, male dancers and musicians were very good. We had a good outing. We booked with hotel pick up and drop off but the hotel was only few minutes away.
The reviews are right ... dance and music was amazing. The only annoying thing was people ignored the announcement for no photos and videoing blocking our view. One lady in front even uploaded the first half she had recorded on Facebook during the interval. We managed to get a programme so was able to read afterwards what was what and why. As stated in other reviews, the theatre was a bit shabby but staff were lovely. However, our pick up only just got there in time (ran up two flights of stairs so a bit flustered on arrival). And our return journey ... after 30 minutes waiting in the cold, the poor man who was our link from theatre to pick up apologised and got us a taxi ... so we ended up out of pocket by £15. ( We wondered if this has happened before because it seemed strange that a taxi arrived so quickly.). Our advice ... go but get the hotel to arrange things. It is amazing and, hopefully, the theatre will crack down on phones so your experience will not be marred like ours.
Building a little run down and even though we purchased the most expensive seating, we were put on the 7th row. And row 1 to 6 was not fully occupied. The dancers performed very enthusiastically and all evenly. It gives you a good taste of Hungarian Folklore Dance. There was no program or a write up of what each dance depicted.
During our trip to Beautiful Budapest we decided to visit the Folk Law Dance 💃 Evening... wow! We were thrilled and entertained from beginning to end. Magical musicians, Dedicated Dancers and Authentic Auditorium. Would highly recommend and the collection service from your hotel is perfect too.
We thoroughly enjoyed the dances. The theater setting was beautiful and the ushers/staff were very helpful. The program lasted about one hour & 45 minutes with a short intermission. The costumes & the dancers were excellent. The whole program was well organized including the change of costumes. Only input we would have would be to give some introduction about each performance in the program or before the start of the dance. Overall it was a great experience & we would recommend it.
We enjoyed this performance not only of the Hungarian Dancers but the musicians. This was a professional production and we would recommend it to anyone who would like to have an enjoyable evening out.
I don’t know if the costumes were authentic or not but I assume they were. The venue is very tired and badly in need of a refresh. Having said that, the dancers and musicians did a great job and we really enjoyed their performance. The only thing that left us wanting was the fact that we had no idea if there was any history, meaning or regional significance to any of the costumes or dances. So while we enjoyed the performance - not so crazy for the venue or the fact that we were left wondering just what we saw. If we had know when we were buying the tickets what we know now, we probably wouldn’t have went.
So well organised - from pick up - to welcoming by a polite young man taking us the 100 meter from our pick-up car to the beautiful Danube Palace. The show itself was a rousing experience performed by a fantastic, capable and professional group of young dancers. Gulla O
While in Budapest we attended a performance of Hungarian Dance and also musical instrumental performances. It was delightful and we would encourage anyone visiting Budapest to attend this show.
One of the best highlights of my short time in Budapest Met at hotel by my guide Csongor Szalay (who was absolutely a pleasure) and treated to an awesome tour of the beautiful 19th century Danube Palace. I had a front row seat to hear the string orchestra and up close to the dancers. The dancers were energetic and professional and it was obvious that they were having fun performing. Lots of brilliant costume changes and what presume were native clothing relative to the dances. Very entertaining and I loved watching the ladies gracefully twirl about and the men high energy dancing. The string orchestra was very talented and they all performed so well togethee. I bought the dvd because you couldnt really use audio or video during the performance, and they were all such excellent performers, I have to share. The dinner cruise was very nice. Greeted onboard with a welcome drink, a trio of musicians and a gorgeous buffet spread. It was all very relaxing with cheerful servers and atmosphere. I would absolutely recommend spending an evening with this activity booked by Hungarian Koncert Ltd. I enjoyed their VIP treatment and my personal tour of another beautiful asset in Budapest. Highly recommend and would gladly go again.
Everyone on stage and off had smiles. Very enjoyable and appreciated their professionalism. Glad younger generation is following traditions.
It was a great day. Mostly thanks to out tourguide Long tall Steven. Lovely show, religieus meal, welk organised
My kids wouldn’t commit to the full performance but while we were there we were entranced by the music of the nine piece string ensemble, the dancers were skilled but performance kind of hokey. The theatre, the Danube Palace, has definitely seen better days. Glad we did it though.
Theater was half empty. Dancing was excellent. Performance would have been greatly improved if there were a master of ceremonies, announcing the different dances and giving commentary on where they originated and introducing to the dancers and musicians.
My family booked the Hungarian Folk Performance in Budapest with airport transfer. The transfer arrived on schedule and took us directly to the venue. We waited roughly 35 minutes for the show to begin. Unfortunately, there was no way to purchase a beverage or even get a water in advance of the performance. Once the show started, I was a bit surprised that it was not the scale described: "No matter which you choose, each group comprises 30 of the best artists in the country and guarantees a riveting show. " Our show had a total of 8 dancers and 10 musicians, half of the 30 promised. The musicians were definitely talented (4 out of 5); the dancers were ok (2 out of 5). It felt a little like going to a recital rather than a professional performance. After the show, we waited for our transfer back to the hotel. And waited and waited. After 25-30 minutes, we decided to take a taxi. i would expect the driver should know when the performance ends as they do this on a daily basis. The evening was fine but I would probably skip this in favor of other activities that Budapest has to offer.
It was a good experience to watch the dancers and listen to the music. There were three or four dances and the rest were music plated by the artists. I wish there were more dances! The artists did a very good job. We were picked up and dropped and the staff were courteous. There are two rates and we selected the higher fees which was not required. There were lots of vacant seats in the front ( however we were given the 5th row; not sure why?!?) and the back and visibility is good from all seats as stage is at a higher level.
We signed up for this event, looking for some authentic cultural event. It was an evening filled with music and dance. The talent of the musicians was amazing and we were most taken with how easily they moved their fingers (especially the soloists) up and down the neck of the violin. The dancers were very good, their colourful costumes and authentic Hungarian Folk dances added a special flavour to the evening. We loved the Folk experience and enjoyed that we were picked up and dropped off at our hotel.
We were picked from and dropped off at the hotal. The performance was in a very ornate classic theater. The dancers did a great job in putting together a high energy performance. The traditional costumes were colorful and elegant. The violinists did some excellent solos. Overall a great experience.
Very nice show. I experienced a number of authentic Hungarian dances. Also music was nice and original. Transportation from hotel to show venue and back was seamless and professional. Ticketing and seating were efficient. In less than 2 minutes from reaching the venue, we were on our seats.
We had booked the VIP experience. The pick up car arrived on time and the driver liaised with an event colleague for us to be met and escorted from the end of the pedestrian street. Although we had booked the front row seats we were offered front row balcony, which we accepted. I believe this gave us a better perspective. A short tour of the Danube Palace together with a complimentary drink of Hungarian sparkling wine set the scene for the evening. And then of course the performance. In particular we would single out the amazing Cimbalom, a blur of hand movements from the artist, and then the 'bottle dance'. no strings attached! We ate dinner in the next door Brasserie and were again met at the appointed hour by the same driver to take us back to the Hotel. Throughout the evening our lady escort was kind and attentive, very many thanks to all concerned from the time of the original web booking
We booked show together with dinner cruise. Everything was well organised from picking us up from hotel. Show was wonderful, guys jumping 1,5 hours, really hard hard work. We enjoyed every minute of the show. Thank you guys
We absolutely loved the musicians, dancers and costumes and the moves and the joy !! Highly recommend it We saw the one at Danube castle
The 9 musicians and 10 dancers gave a thoroughly entertaining performance. The solo on the Cimbalom - a typically Hungarian stringed instrument similar to a dulcimer was magical. Too often 'Authentic Folk Performances' are anything but this was the real thing. Every performer gave of their very best and seemed to be enjoying themselves as much as the audience. An excellent evening
