This was such a fun and informative way to learn to make a traditional Hungarian dish. The chef speaks English perfectly and really lets you cook. The kitchen is clean and spacious with everyone having space to work. Our dinner was tasty and we were provided the recipe to replicate at home. Truly enjoyed this experience!
It was a great time, she explained everything throughly. Very hands on , it was a fun night. Delicious !!
We had a wonderful experience learning how to make and later enjoy traditional Hungarian foods. Marti did an excellent job bringing it altogether.
We had such a good time chopping and stirring and eating. And drinking! We learned when to add the ingredients and when not to. The finale was a delicious meal.
This was a great cooking experience! Our chef, Marti was outstanding!! Marti has a great personality and made the cooking class very fun! We made Chicken Paprikas with homemade nokedli (homemade dumplings). She made us feel like we were cooking in her home. If you have the opportunity to book Marti's cooking class, do it - you won't be disappointed!
Our hostess was phenomenal! Thoroughly enjoyed the class and would recommend to anyone visiting Budapest. The best cooking class in the city.
It was very easy to book and participate in a cooking class with Marti. The 2.5 hours was spent actively prepping and cooking with her support, humor, encouragement, tips and none of the non-fun stuff (cleaning! that's for her husband to do!). The kitchen space was convenient and spacious but approachable for a home cook. Our fellow international tourists were a delight to work with. It ended with a delicious lunch of chicken paprikash, wine and conversation. I look forward to trying the recipe at home!
A lovely experience! Marti was a warm and informative host. Recommended!
The tour of the Grand Market and cooking class were terrific. Marti was knowledgeable and engaging. She was a great teacher. We enjoyed interacting with the other partipants too - really nice folks. And the meal was delcious!
Did the morning cookery class creating Chicken Paprikash. Marti was very welcoming and explained everything. Everyone had chance to get involved and the meal at the end was delicious. A great experience in a central location with wonderful hosts.
Nice, immersive cooking experience. We learned to make chicken paprikas and spaetzle, both of which came out excellent. Marti was very clear in her instructions and cooking tips and also Hungarian culture in general.
It is an authentic Hungarian cooking class with fresh ingredients, great, detailed instructions and interesting talks about life in Hungary. We made chicken paprikash and it was the best we had throughout our time In Hungary. Would HIGHLY recommend booking this tour if you want a relaxed, fun, cooking class ending in sharing a fabulous meal together! THANKS SO MUCH MARTI!
This was so much fun! Marti both taught and entertained. She is very knowledgable and answered all questions about both the food and the country. We really enjoyed eating the results!!! Highly Recommend!!!
The workshop with Marti was very profesional, engaging and enjoyable, no minute was left without an activity and beyond the delicious Chicken Paprikash that we cooked together along with 3 other worderful students, we had the chance to hear a lot of interesting stories about Hungarian food and culture as well as to taste indulging drinks and savory bites from the rich Hungarian tradition. Warmly advice to have the course with Marti, she is a wonderful chef and teacher.
I would highly recommend this class. It was so worth the money. Marti was an exceptional teacher- her cooking knowledge & love of cooking was evident throughout the class. Our finished product was delicious & I have made it since my return to the states. She made cooking fun & I learned so much from her.
Class was very fun and educational!!!! Marti has the gift of transmitting the Hungarian culture through food! Recommended!!!!
We had such a phenomenal time at Martis chicken paprika cooking class. She was kind, welcoming, warm and funny. The food was spectacular and I would totally recommend it to anyone visiting Budapest.
We had an amazing time with Chef Marti! The chicken paprika we made was absolutely delicious. Marti’s experience, patience, and kindness made the experience! Definitely recommend to everyone!
Awesome experience! Marti was very informative about the food and how ingredients changed over the years She also gave us recommendations for restaurants and other places to visit
This cooking class was wonderful on so many levels. The kitchen was very impressive and in a beautiful setting. The food was delicious and chef Mari couldn’t have been any sweeter. She taught us all about not just Hungarian food but also their traditional meals and celebrations. I HIGHLY recommend this event !
On a recent trip to Budapest I had the pleasure of meeting Marta and experiencing one of the best cooking classes I have ever taken. From the moment I arrived till the very end, it was not only a wonderful evening of delicious foods and equally fun learning how to prepare new delicious recipes. I would highly recommend taking a class from Marta, if you’re visiting Budapest.
This was our third class with Flavors of Budapest -- and the first time we've joined a group class. Having other chefs-for-the-day in the kitchen with us was so much fun! We loved not only cooking with new friends, but enjoying a dining experience featuring the meal we'd just prepared together. Definitely recommend!
We recently had a team meeting in Budapest with about 45 team members. One of our team events were learning how to cook some local foods and it was an overall hit. It was coupled with some finger, food and wine in the beginning, and they were even kind enough to bring out a slice of birthday cake so the team can sing happy birthday to one of our colleagues.Overall great experience and a fantastic event to have as a team or group.
I can not say enough good things about Marti's cooking course! This was the second time we did it, the first time was several years ago on our last trip to Budapest and it was even better than I remember, if that's possible. Truly a highlight of both our trips! Marti is so warm and welcoming, knowledgable about Hungarian culture and helps navigate us through cooking the most incredible meals. Better than any restaurant we've been to and I only hope we can recreate this magic back home.
Marti prepared a fantastic four course Hungarian dinner for just the two of us. She was a fantastic host and gave us a couple of great recipes to try back home!
Well worth the investment. Enjoyable from start to finish. Food was excellent. Host was warm and friendly.
On a recent trip to Budapest, Hungary, my husband, daughter and I had a memorable authentic Hungarian dinner at the home of Marti (Kitchen Pixie Budapest). The breads, the chicken paprikash, the Gerbeaud layer cake and other goodies were delicious! I will treasure the recipes, make them often, and think of Hungary and the gracious hosts. Koszonom!
We had the most amazing food and wine experience with Kitchen Pixie in Budapest. Marti cooked us some wonderful food, shared the history and culture of the food, Hungary and her home region. Along with the food we had 8 wonderful bottles of South Pannonia wine with fascinating information on the wines, the wine region and wine culture of Hungary. This was a 5 star night, we are all looking forward to our next trip to Budapest we all agree we'd love to do it all over again with Kitchen Pixie!
We celebrated a friend's birthday with private dining experience with Marti and it was wonderful! Marti is so warm and her food was incredible! We also had a few dietary restrictions (gluten free, vegetarian) and she was very accommodating. This was a great change from eating in restaurants and it was also a nice opportunity to learn more about Budapest from the perspective of a local. We would highly recommend this experience!!
The dinner was delicious! We enjoyed our different courses, and Marti spent time explaining the different parts of the meal. She was friendly, and the food was superb. I have never participated in a group private dining experience before, but hope I get the opportunity again. Thank you!!
This was my first private dining and what an experience. Máta Bedö is owner of the apartment and the host for the event and what at truly fantastic host she was. We had a 4-curse authentic Hungarian menu were everything was homemade with home grown vegetables and herbs cooked after family recipes. I’m sure we couldn’t have tasted such a great menu elsewhere and thank you Máta for being such a nice host
Marti's multi-course meal was impeccable, obviously made with love. (I have distinct memories of her matzoh ball soup, crispy roasted goose, and paprika potatoes in partiuclar!) We spent a fun evening, also learning about Hungarian food and wine, which she is passionate about. She's a friendly and charming host, as well. Highly recommended!
It was our first time trying out a Vizeat/Eatwith experience and we didn't know what to expect. But from the moment we rang the bell to the moment we reluctantly rolled out of the door, Marti took amazing care of us and spoilt us rotten. Marti's laughter was the perfect warm welcome, matching her impressive kitchen and tastefully done dining room. She started us off with warm appetisers with a variety of papkrika relishes to dip into. They were followed by the most delicious, perfectly made sour cherry soup. I'm still dreaming about it. Marti went out of the way to show me how she prepared the dumplings to go with the papkikash chicken, our main course. Her kitchen is perfectly set up for cooking classes and she has a natural, interactive way of teaching that is very pleasant. I had three helpings of the main course! Then it was on to dessert, again perfectly made Hungarian crepes with fresh jams made on her mother's farm. There was a generous selection of drinks to have along with the meal: alcoholic and non-alcoholic. My favourites were the cordials: raspberry, cherry and currant, again all home-made. Marti is a superb cook and a lovely hostess whose intelligence, kindness and warmth shine through. It was my husband's birthday and she'd even prepared a delicious, complex cake for him. I would highly recommend this experience to everyone. Even if you only have one night in Budapest, have dinner with Marti!
We did this private cooking class as our first activity in Budapest and loved the experience. Marti is a great teacher and I think by knowing what is local food, how it is prepared, what it tastes like really opened up the experiences we had in Hungary. We learned very traditional Hungarian dishes, discovered paprika and the multiple uses of sour cream, tried homemade elderflower syrup and had 52% palinka for breakfast! We truly enjoyed the experience and would recommend it to others who like food and cooking.
I booked the Pixie private cooking class and dining for my boyfriend's birthday as he loves to cook and learn local dishes when we are away. Marti was informative, warm and friendly from the outset. The location for the class was very personal and I loved the interior of the whole place! You felt at home but not invasive of Marti's space. We had a lot of fun learning to cook the food that I would say eating the food was the cherry on the cake. I can't recommend this cookery course enough!
Marti's kitchen is delicious. We went to some Hungarian restaurants but it wasn't the same at all. Restaurants' food was less savorous. You can taste real home-made specialities and you can learn much more about the culture, the cooking, etc. It was a real exchange and we really enjoyed the experience. We highly recommend Marti's Kitchen
I am often looking for something different to do in a new city and found the Kitchen Pixie. Marti was a delight and her home cooked Hungarian meal was a highlight in Budapest. She has a converted apartment into a large kitchen and dining room which she uses for her private dining and cooking classes. We dined on Menu A, Hungarian finger food, Fruit soup, Chicken paprikash with homemade dumplings and Pancake Hungarian sytle, We watched and helped in the kitchen while learning about Marti, Budapest and Hungary. The atmosphere was cozy and friendly, like dining with a friend. Marti's husband was able to join us later in the evening and we enjoyed the conversation. The meal was wonderful accompanied by Hungarian wine with Hungarian music playing int he background. We were given a parting gift of Hungarian paprika and thoroughly enjoyed our evening! Highly recommended!!
Trying to find something a little different in a new city, I discovered Kitchen Pixie, owned by local Marti. We arrived to her apartment that is used for the kitchen and dining, so it was a treat to see what a true Budapest apartment would look like. She has a fabulous kitchen set up with a large island for cooking classes and demonstrations. My friends and I chose her full dinner and it was delicious. She served a variety of local dishes and beverages that we enjoyed. One member of our group has dietary restrictions and Marti made some dishes that she could eat, as well. We can't say enough good things about the experience!

My Hungarian mother taught me to cook the foods of Hungary, but I was thrilled to learn new methods and new recipes in this class. We were able to choose our menu and we picked foods that were unfamiliar. The class was totally private - just my daughter and myself. We were picked up and driven to an elegant apartment converted to a cooking class location with a master chef kitchen and a comfortable dining room. We were greeted with wine and snacks as the cooking started. It was definitely hands-on for all steps. The menu can be adjusted for some food restrictions such as vegetarian and Kosher, but be aware that a lot of butter was used in our standard menu. We were given printed versions of all the recipes we prepared. Everything tasted delicious and I cannot wait to try out the recipes at home.

This day was great!! Marta picked us up at our hotel on time. We drove to the flat where our private cooking and dining experience. Not only was Marta patient with us, she shared so much information with us, both about cooking and her personal life. We had a blast. We would highly recommend this program!!

We had a great time in the Pixie Kitchen Marti and Gabor could not have been nicer to us. We learned how to cook Hungarian and took our skills back home to cook for our friends. We also got a glimpse into life in Budapest through a local's perspective, invaluable. A great evening of cooking, talking and, oh yes, eating delicious food we helped prepare. The highlight of our stay in Budapest!!!!

Super nice experience with a very friendly and enthusiastic lady. The address of the location was easy to find, but it was exciting to get into the building, because there are several apartments and we had not paid attention to which number we had to be. We were received super friendly and by another cancellation, it turned out that my husband and I only got a private lesson with the two of us. The explanation about the chicken paprikash was very clear and step by step we could cut and prepare everything ready ourselves. The preparation of the accompanying Späzle (type of pasta) was also a discovery for us. In between there was also a snack with Körözött (spread of goat cheese with cottage cheese and paprika) We had a very pleasant contact with Marti and we had nice conversations about life in Hungary and the passion for cooking and local food. We also received tips for our further visit to Budapest and where we could buy certain products. This is highly recommended which we enjoyed very much. The chicken paprikash is already on the menu at home for when the children visit.
