We were really looking forward to this cruise with friends. The boat was fablous and the staff were plentyful and very welcoming. The trips that were arranged from the boat were well planned and the guides very knowledgable. Unfortunatly with the hot weather the river levels meant we couldn't stop at the first port of call Esztergom, but we cruised on. (We found out later that the boat hadn't stopped there the week before either, but we weren't told that) On the return trip back to Budapest we had to go very slowly, again because of water levels and eventually we had to stop in Bratislava (which had visited on the way up) because the boat could go no further. That was where the crew really let us down. We were told that we would be coached to Budapest and would be transfered to a floating bar/eatery. That sounded fine in principle, but then the time to leave the boat was annouced, 5.00 A.M. (our flight was at 20.45pm) 3 hours on the coach, and then dumped at the floating barge, where sndwiches and cakes were provided. They could of at least organised a sight seeing tour of Budapest, ( which was on the original itinary) but we had to make our own entertainment. We emailed Riviera but still haven't had a reply. We eventually arrived home at 2.00am after a further delay at the airport.

Attila picked us up promptly at our hotel and instantly I knew we were going to have a great day trip to Vienna. The drive to Vienna was very comfortable and relaxing and Attilia made sure we had the bathroom stop. We enjoyed the summer palce tour in Vienna and the highlights where we went I the city were amazing. Thx Attilia for driving and all your good knowledge of everything. You made our day a good memory.
Our tour guide, Attila, was great! Knowledgeable, funny & customized the tour just for us. This tour is a wonderful one day taste of Vienna.
Wonderful experience from the moment our guide picked us up from the hotel to the moment our adventure was over. Our guide ensured we were comfortable and well taken care of all day long. He was very knowledgeable, kind, and experienced. It was the perfect day trip to Vienna. I really appreciate the thoughtfulness our guide had for our wellbeing and overall enjoyment of the trip. Definitely made us feel like VIP guests.
Wonderful day trip to Vienna Austria 🇦🇹 from Budapest. It's a long day tour due to the drive round trip total of approximately 6 hours being in the car, but it is definitely worth it. Visited the Palace and the downtown area. We saw great monuments and the scenery is amazing. Tour guide for the 2nd time was Geza (he was my guide the day prior at the Budacastle). He is extremely knowledgeable about the history on the tour, thank you very much for the tour!
Our day trip from Budapest to Vienna was great. Our guide, Attila, was very knowledgeable and pointed out interesting sites along the three hour drive, as well as the sites of Vienna. Lunch was in a quaint restaurant with good food, friendly staff. Dessert was amazing! Attila's many years as a guide provided us with restaurant suggestions and personal care services in Budapest, offering his help in any way. Meeting him was an invaluable part of our visit to Vienna and Budapest. I highly recommend this tour.
We had a fabulous time walking and learning about Vienna, Austria with Attila! He was humorous and full of stories about everywhere we visited. Vienna is a lovely, friendly city with so much to do to really get a feeling for the culture and rich history. We had a delicious Austrian meal at a quaint but popular spot. We didn't feel rushed but would have liked a bit more time for back and forth discussion. All in all, a most excellent day!
A Huge shout out to Susan, our awesome tour guide! We are extremely grateful and appreciative of her for making our tour a very much enjoyable and memorable one! Thank you so much! God bless and keep you!🙏❤️
We had a great time with our guide, Attila. He was a very safe, excellent driver and made me feel at ease getting us to Vienna with my 7 year old in the van. He was very informative and talked just enough but not too much where the information was overwhelming. He did not rush us at all and was very patient with my daughter chasing birds lol. We highly recommend this tour and appreciate our guide!
It was a nice quick tour of the highlights of Vienna with Susan, and we felt it was a good balance of structured and free time. Susan is extremely knowledgeable.
This was a one-day mostly walking tour of Vienna set in between 3 hour drive there and back from Budapest. The tour of the Hapsburg summer palace was well done and followed by a delicious Wiener schnitzel lunch at a local diner (tasty Austrian beer included). We then continued to the downtown area for a 2 hour tour on foot of the exterior of parliament buildings, Hapsburg winter palace and ancient churches. The area also has many high end shops if you are interested in shopping. Our guide Attila is very good driver handling the highways and downtown areas equally well. His knowledge of the history of this historic city was appreciated.
So much fun- like traveling with fun friends who know everything there is to know! We loved our excursion to Vienna !
Our guides Thomas and Edith picked us up promptly at 7 AM from our hotel for our day trip from Budapest to Vienna. It’s roughly a 3 Hour drive by car. Upon arriving in Vienna, our first stop was at the Summer Palace for a tour of the palace and the grounds, then onto Market Square for a quick look around the Christmas market. Afterwards, we toured several churches then had a nice lunch followed by more sightseeing. Thomas and Edith definitely went above and beyond to make our trip worthwhile. I highly recommend this trip. Thank you Thomas and Edith for a fantastic day-trip!
Very good trip from start to finish something different. Away from Budapest very good and tour guide and driver was very informative
Amazing day with a spectacular guide My Son and I joined Susanna and her guided day tour to Vienna, Austria. Started at 7 am, Susanna greeted us warming and on the 2 1/2 drive to Vienna she provided great historical knowledge of Budapest, the countryside and of course as we got closer to Vienna. We did stop for a restroom and drink break which was very much welcomed. Once in Vienna, we arrived at Schobrunn Place where she navigated the tour process for our tickets and provide us details on the Palace and garden as we waited for our entry time. After the Palace tour, we headed to downtown Vienna where her historical knowledge was vas and informative! As we walk around the rung, he explained the history of the cultural and bldgs. And then we headed to a quaint restaurant for a delicious and massive meal. Susanna left us on our own to walk the Vienna Rodeo drive to shop. After a few hours, we left Vienna a bit early due to exhaustion so the drive back to Budapest was bit quiet for all. We would highly recommend her to anyone. Amazing yet exhausting day!
Our day trip to Vienna was amazing and Tomas our tour guide and Edith our private driver were awesome 🤩 Thank you Tomas and Edith 🙏
Fantastic tour in Vienna!!!!! Atilla was so knowledgable & excellent driver. We left something in the car & he brought it us at the hotel!!! Absolutely a must!!!!!
Sisi's Castle was fabulous. It brought the story of Maria Teresa to life. Such a great story. I also loved the lunch in Vienna. I also loved the Statue of Mozart. Susan our guide was marvelous.
Sofia was our guide. She took her time to explain everything. No rush very helpful in every way. We booked with her the next day with the same results. Thank you Sofia...
Atilla was our guide. Very friendly and knowledgeable about Vienna and Budapest. Unfortunately it rained but we were still able to get to see most of the sights and enjoyed the tour of Schönbrunn, despite it being busy, we had plenty of time to explore. Lunch was nice, we had Schnitzel and Apple strudel, plenty of it and the cafe was really quirky with different themed rooms nicely decorated. We had time for shopping then did a walking tour through downtown Vienna to see more of the historical buildings and learn more about them. We decided to head back a bit earlier because of the weather. We enjoyed the tour and would recommend it to anyone short on time wanting to get an overview of the city, but be aware it is a long day and quite tiring.
Please do NOT hesitate to book this excursion. Susan, my tour guide, is a gem! She is friendly, professional, and clearly has a passion for her work as a tour guide. She went above and beyond. I started the day feeling as though was having a tour with a fabulous history professor and ended the day feeling as though I had spent the day with an old friend. The experience and the memories will be cherished! 5+++….
This was a quick trip for us as we travelled from Budapest. It was very exciting seeing Vienna it was truly what we expected. The buildings were amazing and St Stephen’s Cathedral was breathtaking. We also visited Schonbrunn Palace. The Gardens absolutely beautiful , probably need to spend a whole day there. Susan our director was amazing knew her stuff. Lunch was ok.
Great Tour! Our guide was extremely knowledgeable on the history of both Budapest and Vienna. He was very friendly and paced the tour with flexibility. If you are looking to squeeze in another country while in Budapest, this is a fantastic option!
Enjoying the rich history of Vienna the beautiful castles and the people. Walking in the city center eating the traditional Austrian food and shopping
Our private guided trip to Vienna was wonderful. We toured Schönbrunn Palace and saw many of the historical sites, plus had a wonderful lunch. But the best part of the trip was our guide, Susan. I thought the 2.5-hour road trip there and then back might be awkward with a person in the car we didn't know, but instead the time flew. She was very personable and full of interesting information not only about Vienna but also Budapest and Hungary too. The drive time flew due to her engaging stories about Vienna, Budapest, and Hungary. Susan is a gem and made the trip truly unforgettable.
Amazing trip with the lovely Susan who transported us safely and was very knowledgeable and chatty throughout our journey. We really enjoyed getting to know her. It was a long day but worth it to see Vienna - great little lunch spot too.
Attila was fantastic. We loved his stories and historical context as we drove to Vienna and then while we were in Vienna. We wanted to see a museum that was not part of the normal tour and he adjusted so we could see it. Attila speaks 6 languages and was a very impressive guide. The tour was well worth the travel and long day. Lots of walking. The whole thing with travel and lunch took 12 hours.
Enjoyed sight seeing. City very pretty. Tour person very professional.. Will book again on private tour
Stephen was great. Highly recommended. He is very knowledgeable, accomodating and professional. Vienna was lovely.
From the airport take the 100E bus to the city center ($5) as opposed to taxi ($30) takes about 30 mins both options. You can pay on the bus with your bank card or phone. There are pay terminals by each door.Pretty much everything is within walking distance. Also download the Bolt app as they don't have Uber there.
This tour ended up being a very convenient way to go from Budapest to Vienna. Tour of Vienna was nothing special, but the visit to Schonbrunn castle was very interesting, but extremely large crowds.
Attila was an AMAZING tour guide. He was promptly waiting for us in the lobby. The drive was smooth, approx 2.5 hours long He patiently showed us around Vienna. He was funny, human, patient, and so very, knowledgeable. His found places off the beaten path, showed us amazing views, beautiful places, and we had a great lunch in a local restaurant in Vienna center. I would highly recommend this tour to anyone!
This was overall a great trip However travellers should be warned that there is a Lot of walking involved. It was advertised that we would have a choice to shop but we were not asked what we would like to do. I had to ask if I could quickly nip into a shop but felt rushed. Lunch was included however we were taken to a Hungarian restaurant which given we were staying in Budapest we were already familiar with Hungarian cuisine. During lunch my husband found two hairs in his main course. This was replaced however usually a restaurant would not charge by way of an apology.. we were not offered any reimbursement. I found some of the tour guides comments quite rude, he told us a story about Arnold schwarzeneger and used crude language telling a tale about arranging for a female friend of his to meet him and what happened during that meeting. Also another tale about finding a phone in his car that belonged to a male passenger and how it wasn't his wife calling but another woman, and suggested that this was a prostitute...totally unnecessary to discuss things of this nature in my opinion. Towards the end of the trip I literally had to beg Thomas for no more walking..we are in our late 50's and not as fit as we once were.
My elderly mother, my 8-year old and I went for this trip on a day where it was 34 degrees C by 10am. I was worried everyone would be miserable walking around Vienna in the heat. Fortunately, our guide, Attila, knew exactly what to do to make us feel as comfortable as possible. We walked in the shade except for places where it was unavoidable. We went indoors occasionally. It was a bit of touch and go, but that is to be expected when you want to cover many attractions within a short time. Overall, we had a good time, learned a lot about Austria and Vienna, and took many good pictures. For those wondering how much walking is involved, I clocked a little over 10,000 steps that day. Lunch was delicious, even with my vegetarian meal. The car ride was 2.5 hours and comfortable.
Excellent tour to Vienna from Budapest. Solo tous with a guide can be awkward. But this tour was like spending a day with an old friend , who happened to be extremely knowledgeable about Budapest and Vienna. My guide, Tom S., was excellent. Great tour
We had a memorable day trip to Bratislava . Our private guide was Thomas and he’s very knowledgeable, attentive as well as humorous. Great trip , well managed by the tour company
Excellent organization, pleasant and knowledgeable guide, highly recommended. Enjoyed the experience, town, company, food and over all
Our tour guide was Stephen and if you get a chance to spend the day with him, you’re in for a treat! Stephen is very informative and knows his history. He is a great conversationalist and his knowledge transcends over to many subjects. He is very patient and organized and the restaurant where we had lunch had a great atmosphere and the schnitzel was tasty.
I was in Budapest again for the second time in 2 months. Last time I was here I did most of what I wanted to do in Budapest so I was looking for things to do outside of the city area this time. Doing a quick trip to Vienna was definitely of interest to me.. especially since I always wanted to visit but not really on a separate trip. I was worried I might not get to see enough of what I wanted to see in Vienna since it was long drive from Budapest… about 2 hours and 30 minutes and for this tour price. I decided to go with it though and the day trip went super well. Thomas was my guide and I could not have had a better tour guide for this day trip, he was attentive, knowledgeable, and knew exactly where to take me in Vienna to maximize our time. He picked me up from my Budapest Airbnb at 7 am and we arrived in Vienna around 10 am. Tom managed to show me around Vienna until a little after 6 pm and then we headed back to Budapest, arriving back at Airbnb by 8:40 pm. In the 8 hours we were in Vienna I got to see Schönbrunn Palace in the form of a guided tour inside plus walking the famous Gardens from 10:30 am to 12:30 pm and then afterwards Thomas drove me around the center of Vienna to quickly see the majority of the famous monuments and buildings by car first before we parked. After we parked the car, we walked around mostly to the points of interests I wanted to see the most including the Vienna Opera House, Stephansdom, the Vienna Historic Center, Heldenplatz, and more in this area from 1:15 pm to 5 pm. We had lunch at a local restaurant named Ilona Stüberl from 2 pm to 3 pm and it was delicious. The weather forecast had us worried for the day but luckily it did not start raining until after 4 pm … so the weather didn’t affect my experience too much. Before we left the city we stopped one last time at the famous Hunderwasser Village to check that out before we started the drive back to Budapest a little after 6 pm. Thomas told me this Vienna day trip is not commonly asked for and I can understand why … it’s far and for people wanting to get a more in-depth experience in Vienna this may not appeal to them much especially if they are in Budapest. Me however like I said I found myself to be in Budapest for the 2nd time in 2 months and did most of what I wanted to do in the city area my first trip so this quick trip to Vienna appealed to me. If you find yourself in that same situation as me, a quick trip to Vienna interests you and you don’t mind this price, this tour should satisfy you… I don’t know when I’ll be back in Europe again so I’m glad I got to see Vienna while I had the chance now. I will be doing the Bratislava day tour next on Monday 6/12 with this same Tour operator so I look forward to it! - Nolan
The tour was great in itself but having a guide of the high quality of Susan is just such a bonus. Her knowledge & adaption to a changing situation just made everything so much better. A definite asset to Susanna & her company. Who highly recommend them to anyone. Thxs again Dave & Wendy & Grace:):)
So enjoyed this day trip from Budapest to Vienna. Our guide was extremely knowledgeable and guided us through the city like a pro. I highly recommend this tour, ask for Atilla he's the best!
We found the guide Attila to be friendly and informative. The communication before and during the trip was clear. The trip itself was interesting and we got to see the recommended spots in a day. We were picked up from our hotel in Budapest promptly at 7am and returned 12 hours later. Lunch was included in the trip. It was preselected by the guide (schnitzel and strudel) - a choice would have been preferred. On the whole we found the trip very good.
The guide was great and knowledgable, however with multiple petrol stops and taking double the time as the driver was driving only 80km instead of 120 and 130 max. We missed the one location we wanted to see the most, the Summer palace. That was the only reason I booked. All we did was walk around and go to winter palace in the rushed end of day booking. Then the lunch we had to eat only one dish which was told to us and the driver ordered something different. I am a tour guide and would give my tour more for the amount of money spent. I understand petrol expensive but quality was very poor for $300pp.
Our guide was excellent and he did all what he could to teach us about Viena. He is very knowledgeable and also was very friendly. Thanks a lot
We had a lovely day in Vienna with our guide, Attila. We did most of the sightseeing points all around Vienna. Attila knows a lot about its history, he was knowledgeable and flexible to add any extra stops we asked for. The lunch was perfect, we had so much fun!
Great experience beautiful city Susan was really helpful she explains a lot of history and about the country love the tour
Fun day in Vienna with knowledgeable guide. Atilla really knows Vienna. He showed us all the highlights and pointed out places we would never have seen on our own. We also had the best meal of our whole trip at the out of the way family-owned restaurant he chose.
We had a lovely day in Vienna with our guide Steve. During our stay in Budapest we decided to visit Vienna for one day. The ride was smooth and the City was amazing. Our guide was very informative and he also showed is the hidden gems in Vienna. Highly recommended.
This was just an "okay" tour. So much wasted time that we saw little of Vienna. Confirmed when I booked and again the day before pick up that the four travelers we had would be picked up in a 7-seat van. We were going to spend 6+ hours on the road and wanted to be comfortable. Driver/guide Atilla showed up without the third row seat in place. We had to go to his apartment and wait for him to retrieve and install the seat. We had one traveler that walked with a cane -- which was also mentioned when making reservation. We thought for the price that this would be a customizable tour. It is not. No consideration was given to her limitations. Also, we spent an hour and half at the Schönbrunn Palace and after we were picked up, we had to stop and get fuel for the car and then another stop for driver to use a bathroom. We were not sure why those things were not handled while we were in the Palace. The included lunch took 1-1/2 hours -- the food was good, but the restaurant was cramped and our party of four had to sit on opposite sides of the restaurant. Basically all we were able to see was the Palace and St. Stephen's Cathedral. At almost $200 per person, it was not travel money well spent.
Had a great time! Attila was wonderful and very knowledgeable. We were able to do a lot in a day. Highly recommend.
