Had a fantastic day with Susan. She was knowledgeable and maximized our time to see as much as possible. Lunch was delicious in the city center. We loved the whole day!

Situated in the heart of the city, this is where the president of Slovakia resides. It's a gated property that has a fountain at the front courtyard and a very beautiful garden at the back.

Our guide Susan was amazing.. made our whole day and experience beyond perfect. No matter what we did, she knew where to go and how to do it best.
Our private day tour from Budapest to Bratislava was a perfect way to experience both the Hungarian and Slovak countryside. Our guide, Sofia, was thoughtful, experienced, knowledgeable, extremely attentive and most of all funny. She adjusted our plan for our gentle walker by suggesting we include the panoramic bus tour - which was the ideal way to see the city's highlights and views comfortably. We enjoyed a customized walking tour in the city's center, had a delicious lunch of local cuisine topped off by fantastic ice cream cone. The drive back to Budapest was equally as relaxing, informative, and enjoyable as the morning drive. Everything was seamless, well-paced, and exactly what we had hoped for having one day to see the city of Bratislava. Highly recommend, Sofia and this experience. We left feeling like we had made a friend for life.
On balance, Attila did a great job providing a historical and fact-filled tour of Bratislava. We enjoyed the privacy of a nice van for ourselves, as well as the ability to change our itinerary to accommodate our interests. The first gift shop we were taken to visit was a bit of a tourist trap. We didn’t buy anything and I think our guide’s friend was slightly annoyed. Lunch was excellent. When we first arrived at the food hall, I saw nothing but tourists. I was disappointed and had low expectations. When the food arrived, I was very pleased: the cabbage soup and sausage were delicious. The caramel cream puff was also amazingly light and sweet. The five hours (round trip) were a bit of a hike from Budapest (easier to visit from Vienna) but it was a nice diversion and Attila was attentive and polite.
The tour was informative. The tour guide Susannah was really nice! She was prompt and showed us where to go in Bratislava
My husband and I really enjoy the city of Bratislava. Highly recommended day tour from Budapest especially when the tour guide is fun and nice named Szofia.
We had a wonderful day with Sofia who looked after us wonderfully well. She was extremely knowledgeable but also we had some good fun trying to learn some Hungarian along the way. Bratislava was well worth a visit and we are so glad we spent the day to visit somewhere very different. Many thanks; a great day for us to look back on.
A wonderful tour! It was such a delight to visit Bratislava, and I could not have had a more knowledgeable and kind guide!
Sudetrip is a brilliant concept. Travel between two cities and see the real countryside on the way. Adam our guide was tremendous, knowledgeable, friendly and very flexible with times and itinerary to make sure everyone fully enjoyed the trip. We just wish Sidetrip could offer more such tours. Well done!
Great way to see another amazing city in central Europe and learn a ton of history. Susan and Gabor were great hosts. Given it was private, we were able to control the pace.
We had a fantastic private day trip to Bratislava! Our guide was absolutely amazing—knowledgeable, friendly, and made the experience so enjoyable. The lunch was delicious, and we got to enjoy beautiful sites throughout the city. We also appreciated having an hour of free time to explore on our own. Highly recommend this tour for a perfect mix of history, local culture, and relaxation!
We had an amazing day with Susan driving from Budapest to Bratislava! Susan was a fantastic driver, a warm host, and an exceptional storyteller. Her passion for Hungary truly made the trip! She was able to help us navigate Brataslava and teach us about the local culture, architecture, History, and food. A wonderful way to spend a day between Budapest and Bratislava! I highly recommend this tour!
Amazing tour, Amazing tour guide, learnt so much about Bratislava, beautiful city, got some great pictures, lunch was delicious, would definitely recommend going on this tour.
Lots of walking but great architecture You learn lots of history of both countries but the drive to and from is two hours but worth it
We learned so much about both Bratislava and Slovakia. Great recommendation for lunch! Enjoyed the Christmas market!
Such a fantastic time on this trip! Would have never thought to visit this country but to my Bratislava was cute and charming.
It was a nice way to see Bratislava. We didn’t have to worry about train times or parking. I had been concerned that one day wouldn’t be enough, but it was. George was very knowledgeable and interesting. We had a good day.
We took this tour to Bratislava because our tour to Vienna was cancelled. We were really glad we did it. The town of Bratislava is very old with interesting architecture and facts. We saw many of the main buildings and walked the old town where we stopped for lunch. Our guide was interesting, yet we felt he could have given more information at times. We would have also appreciated time alone to walk the town and do a little shopping. It was a long drive for a relatively short time there, however we were happy with our decision to do this tour.
The entire trip was amazing and speechless. Speechless because the sights like the Blue Church, the memorial, the palace, the town, etc. The architecture on these buildings were breathtaking. Most of all, our guide Susan was awesome and very knowledgeable. She kept us informed and engaged as we traveled from Budapest to Bratislava. Thank you Suzanna for working through the issue and to both for going above and beyond to ensure our experience far surpassed our expectations.
This was an exceptional tour. The trip was well organized and executed, with every detail thoughtfully considered. Our tour guide, Suzanne, was truly outstanding. Her passion for the city and her engaging storytelling made the experience unforgettable. She was incredibly knowledgeable and accommodating, ensuring that we made the most of our time together! I would wholeheartedly recommend this tour to anyone visiting the city. It is a must-do for those seeking an authentic and enriching experience. Thank you Suzanne!!!!!!!!
Sofia was the best part of this trip. As usual she spent a lot of time explaining everything to us. She gave us so many options. This is our second trip with her this week. We had so much fun. Thank you Sofia. The food was also great. I will definitely remember this trip
An awesome place to visit but wouldn't include the lunch option as there is a huge choice of better restaurants to chose from. A long drive and would have appreciated a coffee stop.
We don't typically write reviews but we need to say that our full day private day trip from Budapest to Bratislava (and back) was excellent- it exceeded our expectations. We work with local guides wherever we go and we were fortunate to spend the day with Susan. She provided information about the history of the area - showed us the most important sights - and shared her insight about the recent past and now modern Hungary. You don't need to look any further - this tour was just great.
Great way to see Bratislava from Budapest! Our tour guide was very knowledgeable and helpful during our trip. Would highly recommend if you have the time while visiting Budapest 😊
Susan was a great guide. She provided a lot of information and answered our questions. This was a great tour and I highly recommend it.
Sophia is a hoot! Affable and funny. We enjoyed the trip out and back with her. In Bratislava, she provided a thorough tour and showed us several special spots we no doubt would have missed on our own. I loved the hot chocolate!
Susan our tour guide was extremely knowledgeable and explained everything so well. So much wealth of historical information. She is very patient and kind especially that I was travelling with 3 kids and one of them a toddler. We thoroughly enjoyed the tour with her and remember Bratislava fondly due to her.
Susan, our guide, was full of information and was able to give a wider historical context to both Hungary and Slovakia, and how lands kept changing hands. We hit all of the sights that I wanted to see and Susan pointed out other interesting parts of the city as well. Bratislava is beautiful but small - we feel that we fully saw it in a day and would highly recommend the tour, the tour guide, and our driver too (Aaron)! We had a wonderful time. I wish lunch was Slovakian but I understand they have to cater to a lot of different groups (and probably some picky people). We still enjoyed it!
Our tour guide Tom was excellent. He was on time picking us up and the entire trip he was happily sharing his knowledge with us.
Our guide from Budapest to Bratislava was Sophia. She was friendly, helpful and very informative! We’re very glad we did it and would recommend it to anyone wanting to see something a little different from Budapest. The train ride around town was so so but her guided walking tour around the Old Town was superb!
I am so glad we did this day trip from Budapest to Bratislava. Bratislava is a beautiful city, and our guide/driver Susan was so wonderful and knowledgeable. My Mother is not able to walk long distances, and Susan was so accommodating to find ways for my Mom to see as much as possible. Highly recommend booking this tour - especially because the company was so easy to work with. We even booked a private day in Budapest with them with one day notice, and they were able to make it happen.
Kate and our driver Lotzy (sp?) were wonderful guides and companions on this trip to the beautiful and quaint city of Bratislava. We had a very comfortable car for the 2 hr ride and saw so much in one day. From the castle and opera house to city center and the art deco Blue Church we felt like we definitely made it everywhere we should go. We also had a delicious (and filling) lunch where they recommended local favorites with a glass of local wine. They even tried to get me a stamp at the border on the way home after I mentioned missing getting stamps in my passport within the EU. We also got many insights and “insider” information and stories. If you want a day trip from Budapest would say this is who to go with!
Although our driver had some interesting info to share, we weren’t given private time to tour on our own. He would tell us what to photograph and took us into stores where he knew the owners. Also, he texted and checked his phone many times while driving on the highway. I don’t know the rules in Budapest but it felt quite unsafe.
We had 4 days in Budapest and we wanted to see another capital which is close to Budapest. Bratislava was a lovely and charming city, we had an informative guided tour here with a great lunch. Our guide, Attila knows the city very well, he costumized the tour according to our wishes. He also took us to the Castle of Deveny, which was a must! Highly recommended tour !
Like my Vienna day trip, all I wanted was to do a quick day trip to Bratislava and get a general overview of what was there while I was in this part of Eastern Europe. Susan was my tour guide and driver and she did an excellent job throughout the day. I enjoyed talking to her and listening to what she had to say about the history of Slovakia and its ties to Hungary from throughout the decades. The points of interests Susan took me too in Bratislava were the Slavín Soviet Memorial and Cemetery, the Bratislava Castle, everything in Old Town Bratislava including a delicious lunch, and then stopping by the Blue Church before heading back to Budapest. This was everything I wanted however for those looking for a more in depth visitor experience of Bratislava consider planning a separate trip over there and staying over a night or two. This day trip is only for those in Budapest who are looking to do a quick day trip and can’t plan a more extensive visit to Bratislava, the amount of time spent at some of the stops are limited. The price is steep so advise you gather a group to take on this day trip to lower the individual costs. Also bring cash in Euros for the day as the souvenir shops in Old Town will only accept cash. All in all, we spent about 5 to 6 hours in Bratislava and I left this day trip satisfied. I thank my guide Susan and the tour operator Susana for giving me this memorable day trip, hope to back again soon. - Nolan
Susanna will coordinate and communicate. Confirmation of pick up and times. It was all so well done rest assured the knowledge of our tour guide was exceptional. If you have Zsuzsa you’re fortunate. Not only did we see the sights but we got an education. A safe driver dealing with the traffic from Budapest to Bratislava. Understanding. Patient and kind. The experience was so good this was our third trip through this group.
Bratislava was a great surprise! Our guide was excellent! So well informed, fun, punctual, professional and pleasant! She could answer any questions and gave us several helpful tips to make the rest of our trip better as well.
Bratislava is a very interesting place. This tour gives you a quick view of the city and its sorroundings. The car part of the tour is short enough so that you can enjoy time at the destination. The guide gave us plenty of information and made our trip very nice.
This was an excellent tour of a beautiful city! Suzan is a fantastic guide with a wealth of knowledge and experience! She provided the perfect amount of information and answered all my questions. It is comprehensive to include the best of Bratislava and customizable; one can have as much ch or as little free time as desired. The included lunch was very nice and came with a glass of Slovak beer if wanted. The ride to Bratislava was comfortable and pleasant, with historical and anecdotal take details given along the way. The tour started at the precise planned time, was leisurely paced, and well-organized - I could not be happier! Definitely recommended and worth the price!
Tom is a friendly and knowledgeable tour guide. He provided a through explanation of the history of Bratislava as well as Eastern Europe. He knows a great deal of the history of Austria and Hungry and is eager to share his knowledge. He focuses on the comfort of his clients which helped make this tour so enjoyable.
Kudos to Tom, our tourist guide. It was a great tour, we thoroughly enjoyed it! Thank you! Highly recommended!
This was a great day. We decided to book the trip not only because Bratislava was geographically so close to Budapest, but because during our stay in Budapest we had learnt of the linked history of Hungary and Slovakia. Bratislava was beautiful, amazing architecture in the old town and rich in history. Susanna was amazing. Her knowledge of the history of Slovakia, Hungary and associated European history was extensive. We even had an impromptu trip through a more modern urban area which gave us a view of Bratislavian life today. Really educational day, has inspired us to learn more about central and Eastern European history. Thank you Susanna!
We booked this day trip couple days before our intended date because our pervious operator cancelled, so we have to look for alternative. The price is more expensive. this is a private tour, so it was just us and the guide who is also our driver. we were fetched by our guide promptly, and we went to bratislava for roughly 2 hours. we took a picture of the blue church, then we joined a somewhat like a hop-on hop-off train to see the city. We dropped by the castle and were given 20min only to basically take a picture of the facade. then we went back to the old town for lunch and a quick stroll with the guide. After that, we went back to budapest for another 2 hours. we felt that the trip was really rushed especially in bratislava. we understand that the trip itself takes half day (4 hours round trip) but we were expecting to visit more places and spend more time on these places. dont get me wrong, the guide was very nice and she gives very informative details more about hungary, less about bratislava. It was okay, but expensive.
We had the perfect day touring Bratislava.with Tom. Tom made the day fun from the time he picked us up. He is very knowledgeable about the history of Hungary and Slovakia. Tom was flexible with our time and tailored our day to our interests. Highly recommend….especially if you would like to visit another country. A bonus in November and December is the Bratislava Christmas Market.
We enjoyed the trip, our guide told us a lot of the history of Bratislava and she gave us ample time to look around the castle and then we had this tram tour of the Old Town. We had a good lunch and we were given free time to go shopping and relax. As we walked around the town she gave us helpful info about the country and its history. We saw the Blue Church too. All in all it was a pleasant trip and I would recommend this tour highly.
Good and everything were excellent. We were enjoyed it and the tour guides find a good sight for us to take pictures
Our guide Suzanne was very knowledgeable about the place and its history, she is very friendly and she was always on time, the tour gave us new knowledge what Bratislava is
Yesterday, I had an amazing trip to Bratislava with Susan, the tour guide. She picked me up at my hotel in Budapest and we drove a little over 2 hours to Bratislava. I’ve always wanted to go and this was a perfect solution since I’m staying in Budapest for work and had the weekend off. Before I booked on Viator, I asked the concierge at my hotel what the cost would be for a private tour to Bratislava and he quoted me 900 Euros. This tour was half the cost so it was worth it. Susan is very knowledgeable in Hungarian and Slovakian history and in European history as a whole. I learned so much about this fascinating part of the world. I would definitely book another tour with Susan. It was money well spent!
Boring and not worth the money at all. Rushed without a guide through the sightseeing areas, no options for your lunch, guide made remarks about how Americans should travel. Save your money and skip this trip
Very happy with “Sue”. Knows a lot and went out of her way for me Thank you Suzanne and Ed Everything al good
