We had an absolutely wonderful day exploring Budapest with Nellie! She tailored our tour around exactly what we wanted to see and do, making the entire experience feel personal rather than like a standard sightseeing tour. One of the highlights was riding the metro around the city, which gave us a fun glimpse into everyday local life. Nellie was incredibly knowledgeable and brought the history of Hungary and Budapest to life in an interesting and engaging way. We visited the must-see sights, but she also took us to some wonderful hidden gems that she chose specifically based on our interests. What made the day especially memorable was Nellie herself. You can tell she is truly “Hungarian at heart.” Her face lit up when she talked about Hungary’s history, culture, food, and people, and her genuine love for the country was contagious. Nellie gave us such a special and memorable introduction to Budapest. We wouldn’t hesitate to recommend her—120%! Nelly was super informative about the history of Hungary, including Budapest. The tour was excellent of both the Buda and Pest areas. She had a sunny disposition and was easy to understand. It was also wonderful to hear and see how much she loves her country. She also picked two spots to enjoy Hungarian delights that were excellent during our journey. The vehicle they provided, and driver, were excellent. Overall, a fantastic intro to Budapest. She also says she does food tours, but we didn't have time.

We met beautiful Nelli at the Great Market to get a feel for the history of Budapest via the food. We wound our way through the bountiful vendor stalls, stopping to taste the variety of meats and sausages! For a couple of us, paprika was an absolute must to buy! Learning about the history of Budapest through food took us to a taste of authentic Goulash; a perfect way to end the Market tour and venture out into the chill! We got to experience more of the history through some of the local foods, experienced the tram and made our way to the Jewish Quarter. A must see on any trip to Budapest. Our tour with Nelli went by too quickly, ending with an authentic, hot out of the fryer, Chimney Cake!

What a wonderful time my daughter and I had exploring Budapest with amazing Nellie!! She met us at our hotel in the morning, and through our tour, we learned to appreciate just how easy this amazing city is to navigate with their public transportation! This helped us immensely for our next day! Nellie took us to (most of) the big attractions and shared so much historical information with us, which we loved! I would recommend a full day with her as our 4 hours with her was not enough!! Nellie also was so gracious to help us navigate our next day in Budapest with recommendations for restaurants and sights! All of which were wonderful!! I would 100% book her again if(well…when) we return to beautiful Budapest!

What a wonderful day! My family spent 6+ hours exploring Budapest with Nelli and it was one of the highlights of our trip. The Buda tour was incredible! The views from the Castle District and Fisherman’s Bastion were breathtaking, and every corner revealed rich history and stunning architecture. Our guide was fantastic — knowledgeable, engaging, and made the whole experience unforgettable. A must-do in Budapest!

It was a great start to our first trip to Budapest as it gave a fantastic overview of the country and the city’s rich culture and history. Our family, including our teenage children, enjoyed the tour and found it illuminating.

Back from an amazing trip to Budapest and the highlights of the trip was the day spent with Nelli. She was so knowledgeable and enthusiastic & such good fun, it was like visiting a friend who showed us round the city. She also took for a lovely lunch and introduced to palinka, that was us hooked for the rest of the stay! and showed us the best apple strudel shop in town as well as all the must sees of the city.. we could have spent another day with her. Nelli was very knowledgeable and engaged or whole group of 8. This was an add on tour as we came for a pre-trip riverboat cruise. She's developed the tour to see the sights not covered in our package. We traveled like locals on the subway, and went to sights not covered anywhere else. The outdoor skating rink and park were excellent. We asked for a local restaurant with authentic food, again she delivered. We are coming back and will schedule with Nelli again.

A friend of mine found Nellis website online and referred the company to me to try and find some family ancestry In Hungary. I reached out to Nelli and she responded quickly. I then set up a tour with her via phone vs her online website as it was more personal of a tour. She exceeded my expectations!!!! It was by far the best day of my Hungarian vacation. Nelli was our guide and translator as we had a day tour to Györköny, a village about an hour outside of Budapest. This was my father’s hometown when he was a boy and before he came to America. I met 3 cousins and their families whom I had never met before. We had a wonderful experience that day and I cherish the relatives I found and the friendships we made. Including Nelli and our driver who were just the greatest! I highly recommend Nelli as a custom guide and translator as she speaks many languages and knows the Hungarian countryside very well. She also took several dozen pictures of our reunion and sent them all to me in a Google folder. Nelli was well worth the money and the planning to book her for our special day. I could not have had this reunion of a lifetime without her!

We had a lovely experience with Nelli in Budapest in May. We were a group of 5 friends that were meeting up to tour Budapest on the way to Romania. We spent two half days with her, one doing a customized tour of the city on the first day, followed by a food tour on Day 2. She maintained excellent communciation starting before the tour, and helped plan a trip that made the best use of time. We were staying in Castle Hill so she suggested we tour that on our own so that we can spend more time on other parts of the city. That was an excellent suggestion! She was funny, energetic, and had an interesting background. We were not an easy group to handle with unique personalities and food preferences (including one vegetarian). But she was able to accommodate us all and plan a great trip. Thank you, Nelli, for a wonderful visit of Budapest!

Nelli made a custom tour for us for a group of about 15, focusing mostly on Castle hill. She is very energetic, informed and entertaining. She speaks Hungarian, German and English fluently. We learned a lot about Hungarian history and got some great stories about Budapest. Next time we do a food tour with her. Highly recommend! ❤️

We had a great stay in Budapest. It was highlighted by spending two days with Nellie. We were a group of five friends, all first-timers to Hungary, and we booked both the tour of the city for one day and the food tour for another. Nellie is a local but also a cosmopolitan person who can connect with her guests wonderfully well. She had great insights about Hungarian history, culture, food. We walked a lot, took the bus, walked the market, had great food. Overall, we felt welcomed and enjoyed the experience of a Budapest introduction, leaving plenty of room for future visits. We definitely highly recommend this personal experience.

Nelli was an awesome guide who basically showed us around the whole city in 4 hours. We chose to do the tour on our first day in Budapest and had a good overview of what would be cool to be explored in the following days after the tour. A couple of weeks before our tour she specifically asked us about the areas we were interested in, so we mainly visited the Jewish quarters and the Budapest castle area with her. She had a vast knowledge about various topics, including the history of the city, the Jewish history of the city, great places to eat and have a cocktail and was able to answer any question we might have had. Would absolutely recommend!

Nelli was terrific! By the end of our day we felt we had a new friend for life. We are older so a bit slower but Nelli was so understanding and made sure we saw the places we wanted to see at our own pace. She took photos of us in various places as well as certain historic buildings and sent us a collage of the photos at the end of our day. The architecture and views were spectacular and we thoroughly enjoyed Nelli’s company, history lessons and conversation. We highly recommend this tour!

Excellent tour. It was more of a food history tour than a food tasting tour. It was highly educational. We spent a lot of time in the Great Market where Nelli explained the history of the culture and the many food types. She was very knowledgeable and proud and answered all our questions. We had a great lunch and many nice samples.

Nelli is a great tour guide & nothing was too much for her. I enjoyed a 7- hour personalised tour of the city of Budapest seeing both the city's monuments, gathering information on its history, politics and art scene & eating the culinary delights of the city. It was all amazing!!. My favourite part was a visit to the Saturday markets & eating delicious peaches. I highly recommend her as a tour guide, she has so much love & enthusiasm for her country, she is good humoured & personable & clearly wants to ensure that her clients get value from their experience. This was a wonderful tour! Our favorite tour on our trip! It was a great intro to Budapest, and Nelli showed us around the city on foot and on public transportation, so it was great to know where we wanted to return for the rest of our trip more in depth. We had such a great time with Nelli - she was so informative. She even schooled a couple of vendors we met (we bought a chimney cake at the Fisherman's Bastion, and Nelli explained the history of the cakes in pretty vivid detail - the vendor said, "Thank you! I had no idea!"). Being a local, she really knows the history of the area, and she's a personable, friendly person (and SO TALL, which we loved) and you will feel at ease with her; she isn't at all aloof or standoffish. She is happy to laugh and joke as she shares her knowledge with you. It was a lot of walking, so if you are handicapped or mobility challenged, do take this into consideration. There are loads of cobblestones - big, rough ones - especially in the castle area. This is no fault of the tour guide, it's just a fact of life in Budapest. Nelli was willing to give us plenty of time to sit and rest, and she scouted for benches and shaded areas for us. I would definitely recommend Nelli to anyone looking for an informed guide who knows the area and is an easygoing and adaptable guide. She even took several pictures of our whole group and sent them to us after the tour - this was much appreciated!

My husband and I have gone on quite a few tours in Europe, and the private food tour with Nelli has been one of our favorites. Nelli is the primary reason I'm ranking this a five-star experience. She is very warm and friendly and made us feel extremely comfortable. The cost is very reasonable considering you have a private guide for three hours. Nelli did an excellent job of not only teaching us the history of the food in Hungry but also providing us the opportunity to try some fantastic, authentic Hungarian food. If you enjoy eating and learning about history as you do it, I can't recommend this tour with Nelli highly enough.
