Itinerary
Meet your driver at your accommodation, then begin exploring downtown Budapest.
Ride along the Avenue, the Champs-Élysées of Budapest, and admire the beautiful palaces and mansions along the way.
Make a quick photo stop at the Neo-Renaissance Hungarian State Opera House and learn about its history. Discover why opera lovers travel from all over the world to attend its performances.
Pass by the former headquarters of the secret police, which is now a museum dedicated to the victims of 20th-century regimes.
Stop for 20 minutes at Heroes' Square, where you can explore monuments commemorating significant kings and leaders from Hungarian history. Don't miss the opportunity to take beautiful photos of the City Park.
See the largest thermal bath in Central Europe, located in the city park. Through the commentary, you can learn about Hungary's rich bath culture.
The castle, a unique blend of different architectural styles, was constructed for the Millennium exhibitions. As you ride along the bridge, you can appreciate the views of the castle and the lake.
Capture a photo of Europe's largest synagogue, and gain insight through commentary on how organ concerts are hosted in this Jewish temple.
Drive through the narrow streets of the historical Jewish district, designated as a ghetto in 1944. This area is famous as the lively ruin bar district. Your driver will point out the best spots for evening exploration.
Pass the National Museum on the Boulevard.
Your driver will stop at the famous indoor market in Budapest when it's open, giving you 30 minutes to explore on your own. This will allow you to see the cooking ingredients used by locals in their homes. You'll have the opportunity to buy some paprika or local specialties as souvenirs, or sample a langos (deep-fried bread) at the buffets.
You will cross the Danube into Buda via one of Europe's most beautiful suspension bridges.
Pass by the famous thermal bath frequented by nobility and kings in the early 1900s.
You will ride to the top of the hill to the Citadel, then walk to the panoramic point. There, you can capture stunning photos and enjoy breathtaking views of Budapest, including the Danube, the bridges, and Buda Castle.
Enjoy the best views of Budapest from atop of Gellert Hill.
Enjoy a ride through the old cobblestone streets of the former civic town of the Castle District.
You will visit (outside) one of Hungary's former coronation churches. The commentary will help you learn about the historical church, and you can admire the unique ceramic tiles on the rooftop.
You will stop and may leave the jeep for about 20 minutes. The line of lookout towers on the medieval city walls offers excellent photo opportunities and magnificent views of the Pest side. From here, you can see the Parliament, Margaret Island, and the Chain Bridge along the Danube. (Please note that only the upper level of the Fishermen’s Bastion requires admission fee.)
Pass by the iconic Neo-Gothic Parliament of Hungary, situated along the Danube River.
Please note that the embankment is closed to traffic on weekends from April to October. Your driver will transport you to this moving Holocaust monument situated on the Danube embankment, where there will be a brief stop for photographs.
The Chain Bridge, the oldest connection between Buda and Pest, offers a picturesque view with the Buda Castle District in the background.
Your tour will conclude in downtown Budapest, and your driver will be happy to drop you off at your desired accommodation, restaurant, or location.
Your driver will guide you through the Castle District, showcasing its unique atmosphere and historical landmarks.

Wonderful. Fun Jeep Tour. Great stops with just the right amount of time. Down the tiny streets of Budapest a nice addition from the Big Bus experience.
What a great experience this was! We picked up my mate, groom-to-be, from a pub garden, to his surprise! We then wizzed around Budapest in these open jeeps which was a lot of fun. We had a big group of us, so we got out 3 jeeps, and took a great photo at the river in front of the well lit parliament building! We went out at night, crossing the main bridges, driving around all over Budapest, playing some music and stopping off at two great stops; the citadel, and the river across the parliament. The citadel gave us a great city view of Budapest city, which looked beautifully lit at night. The drivers were incredibly friendly, vibing to the music too! We were allowed to bring food and drink onto the jeeps, which was also nice for us.
Had an awesome time riding around Budapest in the jeeps. It is such a great vibe!
We had an amazing 2-hour evening sightseeing tour of Budapest by Jeep. It was a fantastic way to see the city and its most beautiful landmarks, especially at night when everything was beautifully illuminated. The tour was comfortable, fun, and very well organized. We got to see many of Budapest’s highlights and enjoy the city from a completely different perspective. Highly recommended for anyone visiting Budapest and looking for a unique and memorable sightseeing experience!
What a Great way to see Budapest at night. We would highly recommend this tour
Wonderful experience, our host driver was a wonderful young man who answered all our questions and provided great insight into Budapest
Amazing guide. Thanks Ben. A great way to se the City in the night time. Great car
Our Retro Tour Budapest began with a bang as we were greeted with cheers and thumbs up from our elevated perch by the crowd as our guide Noah (the company’s other guides also speak perfect English) swung the General’s rebuilt military issue, open air, forest green jeep (perfectly rebuilt from its heyday in the 60’s) away from the curb. Capably, smoothly and with authority, he steered away from our Dunapark apartment and into the Budapest dusk. Little did we know we were in for a dashing and daring but very safe and totally enjoyable, breezy, jaunty, gripping and riveting Retro Tour to end all tours. We were very happy to reach the heights of the elusive til now hilly Buda side of Budapest. With astonishing mouth-dropping 360 degree vantages of otherwise difficult access to accomplish under any other conditions, we witnessed, on both sides of the engineering masterpiece of the Chain Bridge: Heroes’ Square Mathias Church Fisherman’s Bastian The Castle Elizabeth Bridge the views between the buildings off the beaten track of the Buda side Glimpses of the Jewish Quarter and more! This RetroTour, now celebrating its 10th anniversary, is a terrific way to take in the exceptional beauty of Budapest on both the flat Pest side with the Parliament (one of the most daunting pieces of architecture you’ll ever see), the designer’s crowning achievement and the largest building in all of Hungary and the spires and turrets of the slopes of the medieval Gothic, Renaissance, Baroque and Neo-Baroque magnificent Castle on the Buda side. It becomes imminently evident why many consider Budapest among the most exquisitely beautiful cities in the world! In between our extraordinary views Noah offered history, legends, insight into the Hungarian culture and character and convivial samples of Budapest Moonshine aka fruit brandy as well as complimentary cold (alcoholic and non) drinks. We hear there’s warm mulled wine with orange in the wintry months. The tours are apparently rain or shine with a rain cover and blankets, if needed. This tour company and the six jeep fleet is the brain child of the ingenious and mechanical wizardry of the brilliant and very, very nice and hospitable owner Laszlo Szeplaki. Apparently there’s a 1.5 hour version, a two or three hour rendition: a sunrise option; you can go on an all day tour or an illuminated evening version. We understand they can accommodate up to 75 people on up to 15 jeeps. The single jeeps allow for a 4-6 person capacity. There are a wide range of routes and itineraries and special deals including meals, artwork and more. They are really accommodating. They provide tour and historic details in English, German, French, Spanish, Italian and Hungarian. We finished our pitch perfect evening with the very generous door to door service and flourishing navigation of our noble navigator Noah. A perfect night brimming with the beauty of Budapest! Don’t miss this one!For details +WhatsApp or Viber: +36 30 562-6035.
Seeing Budapest in a 1962 Russian style jeep was a fun way to get acquainted with the city. Our guide Noah helped to make it fun and added plenty of history and commentary.
An absolutely great afternoon, best way to see the sights of Budapest.
The retro Jeep tour was an awesome experience. It made me feel like a kid again. Highly recommended! The organizers were super kind and attentive, and they even offered us cold drinks.
This was a great experience with great views of the city. One can experience a panorama of the buildings, river, attractions, culture and variable architecture from the vehicle with a great use of travel time when time is limited or wanting an introduction to the city. Highly recommended.
Nice to tour town in a jeep. Not for handicapped since It does include walking in park, to citadel and parliament building. Our guide was pleasant
Great tour, perfect for us having our mothers joining us, with bad knees and who do not endure the extreme heat too well. We considered the hop on hop off bus, but decided to make a private tour instead to make it more comfortable for them (after reading the reviews for the bus, too overcrowded and hot). It was really fun, also for our son, sitting in the open car/Jeep with the wind in the hair, it was really nice! The driver was polite and really friendly, helped our mothers in and out of the car, we where picked up at the hotel directly (not all of these private tours do that), he had both cold water and sparkling wine at hand, which was really nice. He bought new water when we emptied the last of it, it being so hot outside. It was a perfect way of viewing the sites, worth every penny, recommend it highly :)
Laci was a great tour guide and showed us all the main attractions of Budapest! The Jeep was awesome, the route was fantastic, and his hospitality was next level. This experience with my mom is one I will never forget. I would do this again in a heartbeat!
Lovely morning with Bento today , saw most sights at s leisurely pace and the drive was pleasant unlike travelling in a coach for a tour - would highly recommend
This was our second time booking a Jeep tour with this company, and once again it was fantastic! This time we did it in the evening, during sunset. The tour departed right on time, and our driver/tour guide was incredibly friendly, knowledgeable, and made the experience enjoyable from start to finish. Seeing Budapest beautifully illuminated at night from the open Jeep was unforgettable, and we learned so much while taking in all the major sights. We had such a great experience both times that we wouldn't hesitate to book again. Highly recommended to anyone visiting Budapest!
Very nice way of seeing Budapest and getting hints for the rest of the trip. The driver was very friendly and service minded!
László Széplaki Was our driver, he was on time, commuted well before our trip about pyr meeting place, very courteous and knowledgeable. He drove us to places that we have not been to and let us take pictures. Kids loved the experience and they are still talking about it. We highly recommend this experience, expensive but it was worth it. If you think about it, you will spend just as much renting car/ paying for uber to see the whole city. This was 3 hrs of tour, and we were not exhausted from walking. Worth it.
Very enjoyable overview of Budapest. Highly recommend it if looking for a different way to see the city
I cannot recommend this tour enough! The absolute highlight of our stay in budapest. Our guide noah was outstanding 10 out 0f 10
This is such a fantastic way to see the city. I scheduled it for our first day there because I knew that we would be jet lagged. It was the perfect way to get the lay of the land while respecting everyone's energy levels. We did run into a snafu on our trip because of a charity race and Laszlo with Retro Tour did a FANTASTIC job of compensating for it. Definitely do this! My only regret is forgetting to have our picture taken in the Jeep!
Excellent tour. Light hearted, informative, fun and stress-free. Our tour guide was generous and courteous. He was a great driver that made our day special.
Super fun ride around town tour. Best part was the sunset at the castle and the evening view of the lights from the Citadel. It was a gorgeous view!!!
It was a fun experience driving through town in the jeep. It was a great highlight of all the sites. There was a recorded overview of each site as we passed it which was nice. The driver was friendly and provided refreshments during our ride. It would have been a rating of 1 more star had they driver added his own insight during the ride but nevertheless it was an interesting and fun tour.
Had a great tour of Budapest. Bence was great. What a fun 1/2 day. If you want to see the sights and have some fun, this is it.
It was a very relaxed tour. Just my husband and me. No hopping on and off a bus with lots of other people
This was an amazing way to see Budapest, especially if you’re short on time. Our guide, Laszlo, was very hospitable and knowledgeable—a true host. In addition to driving past major sights, the tour included stops at four iconic locations where we could explore on our own. Riding in a Russian Jeep made the experience even more exciting!
We were a group of 8, 4 couples, and we went for the standard 3h tour in two Jeeps. Everyone kept thanking me for the initiative both during and after the trip, and we all agreed that this really was a superb experience. Before reservation we were a bit unsure if 3 hours was a bit much, but afterwards we were really happy about our choice. The combination of driving and the duration of the stops was more or less perfect.
We loved this tour. It is a private tour so we were never waiting on others. The jeep was able to get us closer to places than the typical bus tour. We had a beautiful day so the open jeep was wonderful. The tour operator was very accomodating.
If you want a unique view of the city, this is the tour for you. It was easy to schedule the tour and the operator was very communicative and helpful. He picked us up at our boat and even accommodated 2 extra participants the morning of the tour. During the tour, we were offered a variety of beverages and even some local Plinka. The ladies received beautiful post cards at the end of the trip. We were always parked in convenient places with adequate time to visit various sites. The operator uses a recorded narration for specific sites and then adds commentary and even suggested several restaurants and things to do. Riding in the historic vehicles was unique and fun allowing us to see far more than we would on a hop-on hop-off bus. I would do this again in a minute. Great service, great value, convenient, and fun.
Excellent overview of Budapest. Plenty of time to stop at key landmarks and available to switch it up if you have already see something. Definitely recommend if you have tome
Picked up from our apartment, our guide Peter was excellent. Took us to all the main sights, allowed time for photographs and showed us where to go for the best viewd of the city. Fitted in so much in 3hr time slot, it was fabulous introduction to Budapest. Water and prosecco on board and Peter helped us all get in and out of the vehicle at every stop. Very kind and courteous. Would definitely recommend.
Great way to see a lot of the city in a short time and decide where to go back. Peter was a great guide, knowledgeable, interesting stories, and very friendly.
We did this city tour with my colleagues and it turned out to be a really special experience. Driving around Budapest in an open-top vehicle almost felt like being on a safari, which made the whole sightseeing adventure much more exciting than a typical tour. The guide was feiendly, the route was well planned, and we got some amazing photos. Highly recommended!
Very exciting in the back of the jeep! You can make up your itinerary and go wherever you like Excellent service and guide who could not do enough for us My wife left her sunglasses in the jeep and they made a special journey to give them back to her. First class!
Visited or passed most tourist sights. Audio played in vehicle to give tourist information on place you are heading to or passing. On booking, many places were to be stopped at for photo opportunity. Driver friendly but tour is booked for 3 hours, I was dropped back at my hotel in just under 2 hours......
Cool cars, amazing vibes, lovely crew, and the most stylish way to ride around the city. Thanks for this unforgettable adventure!
Bence was a terrific guide. He gave us great insights into the history and culture of this beautiful city which we were very interested to learn.
Driver was very friendly. Jeep tour is best way to explore the city in half a day and knows where you want to explore more
Great experience saw all the sites in Budapest and with photo opportunities. There were blankets heated seats water and mulled wine included. Tour guide with audio was great!
An absolute must-do in Budapest! The vintage car adds such a cool atmosphere to the sightseeing. Our guide was really knowledgeable about the city, could recommend interesting lesser known programs you can do in the capital and even restaurants which are not tourist traps. Lovely gentleman!
I highly recommend this private tour especially who do not have much time exploring all around the city! My husband and I only had two and a half days in Budapest, so we were pretty happy that we got to visit Budapest landmarks in few hours. The driver/guide was very nice and friendly. We would try it again!
We really enjoyed our ride around Budapest. Perfect amount of time for seeing most of the city sights and were given a good amount of time for exploring certain areas, like the market and heroes square, on our own. Our driver/guide was friendly, ensured we were good and that our needs were met, and the tour was a highlight of our trip.
Really nice tour, could be tailored to our needs. Also very informative and the tour is worth every cent. You can book longer or shorter tours based on your expectations.
Fantastic and interesting sightseeing opportunity. We had a blast, the driver was kind and helpful. Bonus points for the welcome drinks and beer:)
Our tour was perfect. I have wanted to visit Fisherman's bastion for a long time, and our driver was kind enough to stop in front and take a picture of us in the car with the bastion in the background. The drinks included with the tour were also a nice touch. The driver was very polite and informative and overall we had a great time. I would totally recommend it!
The tourist locations were excellent, and our guide was courteous and professional. However, considering the high cost of the tour, we expected a guide who could communicate fluently in English. Unfortunately, he had difficulty conveying information and answering some of our questions, which made it challenging to fully appreciate the experience. Overall, while the sites themselves were wonderful, the language barrier made the tour feel less than value for money.
Great Tour We toured with Bence. He was a fabulous tour guide , spoke great English, was full of knowledge. Highlight of this beautiful city! He also provided additional places to visit.
