We had a great time with Raymond and Esther showing us around Budapest’s food scene. We got to try lots of interesting food, go to new places and learn some local tips and history along the way. They were both great company, easy to chat to and were very helpful. I would thoroughly recommend this tour if you’d like to have a fun time exploring the city and tasting some lovely Hungarian food.

Itinerary
Meet your guide in front of the oldest church of Pest close to the Danube. Admire the gorgeous views of Elisabeth bridge and the Buda side including Gellért hill, Liberty statue and the Citadel.
Grab Hungary's favorite street food: lángos and find out why this deep-fried dough topped with sour cream, cheese and garlic is the go-to beach food for locals.
Continue on one of the oldest streets of Pest, where the elite would go shopping during Budapest’s Golden age and where you had to stand in line to get a Big Mac during the Cold War.
Stop at a family-run eatery whose founders invented Hungary's first lunch delivery service. Sip on some fizzy grape must from Tokaj, taste goulash, sausage, almapaprika and try a cold fruit soup.
Walk through a 200m long hallway once part of the Jewish ghetto, now full of lively bars and restaurants.
Discover colorful murals and street art, catch a glimpse of the Orthodox synagogue, then step inside a former stove factory now home to an eclectic ruin bar.
Visit a 19th-century market hall off the beaten path, sample paprika-themed dips and Hungarian wine
Both the morning and afternoon tours end within 10 minutes of Klauzál Square, but at different locations. The morning tour includes a cinnamon-flavoured chimney cake on the go and ends at a ruin bar, while the afternoon tour finishes with vegan cottage cheese dumplings at a restaurant after the ruin bar visit.

Great tour guides with a rich knowledge of the local history as well as a amazing selection of food spots
Bogi is an amazing tour guide. Very knowledgeable, fun, and attentive. We tried some truly great Tokaj wine and local food - an amazing spread made from crackling being my favourite. Do not miss this important part of Hungarian culture! Again - with Bogi! :)
Raymond was great! Thank you! He was very informative about all things Hungry and Budapest, not just food. Visited great local places, not touristy. Food was authentic and local, venues were welcoming and the staff/owners interactive and informative. Even had a lovely glass of Hungarian wine.
Fantastic tour. Raymond was amazing.
Blanka is a wonderful guide, I loved her tour. She is so welcoming and gave us very interesting history information about Budapest as well as the treats we ate. Highly recommend a tour with Blanka
Wonderful and highly recommend. Bogy was amazing and all the stops were a nice treat. She was knowledgeable and had stories and recommendations for our visit.
I did a ton of research before I selected a food tour in Budapest, and I’m so glad that I did! This tour was an outstanding value, and the food quality was top notch. Bogi was an amazing guide - charming, funny and very knowledgeable. She took us to the coolest places and made me fall in love with Budapest even beyond the cool architecture. So, so glad we booked this tour!
The other day, my wife and I while in Budapest, took an afternoon food tour with our guides; Bogi and Eszter. This was a fantastic way to spend three hours get to know part the city, learn about Hungarian culture and of course try the Hungarian delicacies. Bogi & Eszter were so friendly and down to earth. They gave specific details while walking the different neighborhoods and speaking about street art, architecture of the buildings and in general just the lives lived of Hungarian people. Many of the stories were told through several decades of turmoil and rebirth. While the main focus is on the food, I would say they took pride in explaining and going into depth about the streets and surroundings of the world in which we walked. As a former New Yorker, I loved learning about the past and how it blends with modern day Budapest. If you’re looking for a great way to spend a few hours or enrich your afternoon, book this tour with Bogi & Eszter (Eating Tour Budapest), you will thoroughly enjoy! I have been on 6 Eating Europe tours and this was one of the best! Blanka was friendly, knowledgeable, knows her city and the food culture. The food was delicious and generous. The food well represented Hungary and variety of restaurants and types of food places. The restaurant owner at one of the stops was delightful and shared so much food and wine with us! I loved the ruin bar and seeing the city thru local eyes. I highly recommend for anyone!
This tour with our guide Raymond was absolutely wonderful. Great Hungarian food mixed with historical insights was amazing! Highly recommend this!
My first Food Walk experience in Budapest – and what a wonderful way to celebrate my birthday! 🎉 Bigi was an amazing guide who made the tour truly special. We discovered delicious Hungarian food, local traditions, and the city’s unique charm. A fantastic experience, full of wonderful tastes and lovely memories. Highly recommended! ❤️
Foodtour was excellent, Tourguide Bogi did a great job and it was a good mic of original Hungarian food. Thank you very much.
We tried a lot of great authentic food - langos, goulash, sausages. Bogi was great and gave some history and recommendations along the way.
An outstanding food tour! We learned a lot about Hungarian food! Buttercup was a great guide and this was another outstanding Eating Europe experience.
Bogi was an excellent guide- she gave us so much cultural information and a wide variety of traditional Hungarian foods to taste. An excellent tour and well worth taking
Excellent tour. Raymund was super fun and knowledgeable making the experience of tasting delicious traditional Hungarian food even more interesting. Highly recommended.
Raymond was fantastic! We had a great experience - delicious foods, lots of interesting history, and an overall wonderful time. I highly recommend this tour if you're in Budapest!
Raymond guided our tour and knew all the best places to go! He was a very skillful and knowledgeable tour guide and fun to hang out with!
Great experience, super food and fun walk through a beautiful city. Our guide, Raymond did a wonderful job!
Raymond was wonderful! Great personality, very knowable about the history of Budapest, and the most important part the food spots he took us too were amazing! Food was delicious, each with a very homemade essence around the food we had. Definitely tried some things I wouldn’t have otherwise! Plus he gave some further recommendations for food to try on my own. 10/10
Raymond was a wonderful, fun and knowledgeable guide who made the evening a great experience
Bogi was knowledgeable about history and culture in Budapest, loved to share her enthusiasm for the people and food, quirky pubs and welcoming Hungarians we met along the way.. recommend her tour wholeheartedly!
This was an incredible tour experience. Bogi was the best guide. All of the food was delicious and in smaller places that emphasized high quality food by people who are passionate about what they make and serve. Highly recommend going on this tour!
Fabulous experience! Highly recommend this tour. Our guide Bodi was a wealth of knowledge and funny. She covered so many topics including food. Loved the food options as well, Goulash and the Bolka store was my favorite.
We have done many food tours throughout Europe and can honestly say this one was a real winner. The Budapest tour is new and it did not disappoint. Our guide, Raymond, was fantastic. Knowledgeable, friendly and funny…the perfect host. The food and drinks were well curated and showcased an excellent blend of traditional and modern. Would highly recommend this experience.
I really enjoyed the food tour! Starting at 4p.m. was the perfect timing. Everything was well organized, with a great variety of delicious foods to try. I also really appreciated the additional information about Budapest throughout the tour — it was a definite plus and made the experience even more interesting. Overall, a great experience with nothing to complain about. I’d definitely recommend it!
We loved our food tour! Great way to start off our time in Budapest. Bogi led a great tour and highlighted several spots and some history around the downtown Pest side of Budapest along the way. She was also helpful for other food and activity recommendations around Budapest. We loved the goulash and fruit soup at the second stop and the wine and dips at the third stop. Definitely come hungry!
Our guide, Buttercup, was wonderful. She was knowledgeable, enthusiastic and very entertaining. We have enjoyed Eating Europe tours in the past and today’s tour did not disappoint.
Raymundo was wonderful! Great food!
Very good tour with excellent food and variety. Tour guide also gave nice history and insight on way.
Bogi was extremely knowledgeable and took us for a great assortment of foods. We were very full from all we ate. She is fun and personable. Highly recommend this tour!
Our local guide, Raymond, had great knowledge and insights to his hometown of Budapest. He shared many details and suggestions about how and what to order, how to pronounce words in Hungarian, and gave us a better understanding of some of the food traditions here.
Raymond was an amazing guide - very easy to chat to. The stops all have an authentic flavour of true Hungarian food and cuisine and his history facts en route only added to the experience- a fantastic 3 hours !!
Really loved our time with Raymond on this tour. It was a great insight into Budapest and Hungarian history/culture. Highly recommended.
Fun tour with friends. Bogi was a thorough and patient guide.
Great mix of Hungarian food , loved the local mkt for dips, the languish was awesome, the goulash great. Our guide Bogi was super great and fun
Absolutely recommend this tour, it was our favourite activity in Budapest! Blanka was a wonderful guide and we had an amazing time exploring the city and eating delicious food!
Guide Blanka is great. Food was outstanding. Gentle walk about town. Highly recommend to see different parts of town. Would do this again and again.
I was so happy to find out that Eating Europe had expanded to Budapest months after booking our trip, and this tour did not disappoint! We tried both traditional and non-traditional things in a non-touristy setting and learned some unique things about the area. Bogi was a great guide and had a lot of knowledge of the food and the history of the restaurants.
We had a fabulous time with our guide Blanka. She was very knowledgeable about Hungarian history and culture. The assortment of foods she took us to try were very good and varied, giving us a wide range of tastes. I would definitely recommend this tour and Blanka especially. Thank you!
The food tour was great, good variety of food, lángos was the highlight for me. Blanka was very knowledgeable with positive energy and taught a lot about Hungarian food culture.
Great guide who knows where to go! Don’t eat before you go! All of the foods and flavors were so diverse! Great way to get to know the city you visit too!
I have tried some of these dishes on my own in Budapest, and I did not have very good luck finding the good stuff. She definitely found the best place to get langos and goulash, compared to what I found myself. This tour takes you to a place with “vegan cottage cheese dumplings”, which sounded scary to me at first. It turned out to be one of the best things we had, and the whole group seemed to agree. Possibly the best mix of traditional and modern that you will find here in Budapest, so I would pick this tour again without hesitation.
What a fabulous experience ! The food selections were all authentic yet unique. Loved to see all the different parts of the city and experience the food and wine! Highly recommend.
Nice walk although the heat made it harder. food selection was good especially the vegan cottage cheese dumpling
Our host was really fun and knowledgeable and took us to all the best spots for local foods! Highlights for me were the Lángos and the paprika dips, however everyone in my group also raved about the dessert at the end of the trip! Definitely recommend!
Wow - delicious and super informative tour! Starts, middle, end, all so good. Skip lunch and save room for all the amazing good
Its an additional good experience
The tour was informative. Every location we visited the staff was very welcoming and you could tell they have a passion for their food. We are not big eaters, so the amount of food was enough for us. It was a variety of tastings. Our tour guide, Bogi was very informative and down to earth. She made us feel comfortable from the start.
