Itinerary
Cruising along the River Danube
The Castle District: Along with the Bazaar Gardens the castle is located at top of the hills of Buda and it takes a truly breath-taking landmark by night
Margaret Bridge – Right after the Chain Bridge the second place belongs to Margaret Bridge, which is the second permanent stone bridge of Budapest and only 20 years younger than its ancestor
Chain Bridge – This unique looking construction was the first, permanent stone bridge that connected the two towns Buda and Pest
The House of Parliament: Easily one of the most beautiful and iconic government buildings in the world
Emerging at the foot of Elizabeth Bridge, Gellért Hill is amongst the most visited spots of the capital, due to the amazing view
Liberty Bridge – Originally called Fővám Square Bridge after the place where the bridge is ending. At the Buda side, you can reach the Gellért Hill and Hotel Gellért which has one of the famous thermal baths of Budapest
The Budapest University of Technology and Economics is the most significant University of Technology in Hungary and is considered the world's oldest Institute of Technology which has university rank and structure. It was the first institute in Europe to train engineers at university level.
Petőfi Bridge – Originally built in 1933 but in WWII it was blown up by German soldiers and had to be rebuilt after the war, in 1952
The new National Theatre is the most distinguished venue for theatrical plays in Hungary. Although there has been a Hungarian theatre in Budapest for the last 150 years, it only has a permanent and suitable home for theatregoers since 15th March 2002.
Balna (a.k.a. the Whale, due to its shape) is a modern shopping, cultural, and entertainment center on the east bank of the River Danube.
Batthyány Square is noted for the Szent Anna-templom (Church of Saint Anne), a Roman Catholic church built by the Jesuits between 1740 and 1761, and one of Budapest's most beautiful baroque buildings. The square is also known for its market hall.

Reviews
We took the night cruise and the city looked absolutely spectacular, beautifully illuminated. Everything was well organised, except for the English commentary played over the loudspeakers. It started before the boat even set off, and throughout the cruise it didn’t correspond to the sights we were passing. As a result, instead of being enjoyable and informative, the commentary became distracting and irritating, taking away from what could have been a wonderful experience.
From the charming ticket checker, comfortable waiting room inside and out, extensive food and drinks menu on board served by friendly efficient waitresses. Detailed commentary in English (earphones for other languages) about the history of Hungary and Budapest buildings on view. A highly recommended experience.
The night cruise cost £12 and takes 1hr. Even as cheap as it was this was not worth the money, you can see the city buildings all lit up at night walking along the side of the Danube or travelling on the public transport the only difference is you are on the water. A few reviews say they had a tour guide explaining what you can see, our tour didn’t all the staff wanted to do was to sell drinks. I was concerned as there was no safety instructions about life jackets or where they were, asked one of the staff and they didn’t know where they were and said nothing has happened on our trips. Two thirds of the views were of houses and commercial premises. Definitely don’t recommend this trip.
Excellent night cruise down the Danube, lovely views
Not recommended, and not well organised. Better to look for other alternatives maybe they've got it together, at least the basics. They did not give us any audioguide. Also, they left us to wait in a big queue and only at the last moment they asked us to come forward to board and so we got the very last seats.. no instructions that we should have come forward were provided either online, at booking or at the location physically, there was just 1 queue. We were at the specified location on time 10 minutes in advance, as required on the booking details. The view was nice, it was not to blame... so 2 stars only for the view. Generous, really.
The views were incredible. Bodza was very helpful and worked effortlessly.
Everything was pleasant! Thank you! And thanks Bodza!
Mimi was amazing. Thank you for being so helpful, it really made our night. I would 10/10 recommend this to everyone, worth the hype
Beautifull experience in Budapest don’t Miss it! Bodza was Kind and professional
Nice cruise, Mimi was really lovely and helped find us a spot and got lovely photos of us without us even asking her! Many thanks to her! 🥰
Mimi is so kind. Her smile is very helpful for my trip, and because of her guide, I could completely finished my trip in Budapest.
Mimi was amazing!! So helpful
It was really nice. However there sould be another waiting opportunity other than the banks in front of the Dock.
nice tour. Services was unforgetable from Bodza.
It was really good, we went with friends
Simply wow. Seeing Budapest on a very warm spring night from the Danube - magical. The Silverline cruise starts and ends at Pier 11 very close to the Elizabeth bridge. Easy booking (in advance is best), clean boat, lovely crew and waiting staff, and very well priced including a drink. The cruise a little over a hour takes in all the sites that appear so different to seeing them during the day, none more so than the magnificent Parliament building.
Great 1 hour night cruise on the Danube- excellent service from Dominique. great sights.
The experience was very nice, the platform was easy to find and the boat was just fine with friendly personnel.
Arrive 30 minutes before your scheduled time. You will wait by the road until they allow you to go down the walkway to the dock. Then you will wait on the dock until they allow you on the boat ( with little to no direction announced about that). We did the 8 pm tour to see the city landmarks lit up at night. We sat on the top deck. The sound system was not loud enough to hear over all the people talking, or perhaps ( wishful thinking) the people should have been quiet so that you could hear the narrative about the different sights. The tour was around an hour in length.
Great Danube cruise. Bit windy up too so sat downstairs but was able to hear the audio better explaining the sights. Thoroughly worth doing.
I took the Purpleliner for a night cruise and I quite enjoyed it. The trip takes about 60 minutes, there's a bar inside, bathrooms and a very nice guide that really knows is stuff. He explained everything we could watch of relevance as we passed through, was very detailed, spoke in english with a great accent, very easy to understand and he didnt give up even though the passengers were very rude and kept speaking loud. I recomend it.
Fine cruise. Not a lot of people. 36 EUR for 3 people was fine. Prices on drinks was also fine
It was a very nice experience and a beautiful view. Amazing Budapest light , Hungarian Parlament spectacular view light and construction very old style
Boat was nice, the staff were really friendly. Very organised. Main complaint was that the audio guide wasn't in sync with where we were on the river. Luckily it was our last day so we knew all the main attractions. Budget cruise which was a nice experience.
The views are fabulous however they were blocked by a constant stream of people taking photos. We had seats up front by the window and views were continuously blocked. It would be better if there was designated photo areas rather than allowing people to block the front area and the views of those seated inside. People beside us were banging on windows asking those outside to move. The audio guide was off track with the views which was confusing, was easier to listen to the guide on the app. Overall it was good, but was let down by the above mentioned points.
This was a very easy and relaxed cruise along the river. While there is plenty of seating the best seats are along the outer edge, the 1St floor covered bow and the rear. There offer excellent views of all the most loved monuments. The cruise team offer table service for drinks (coffee, tea, other). The cruise is kind enough to pause in front of the Parliament Building to allow plenty of picture taking. I can recommend this cruise. The time is only around an hour just to give you a taste which was perfect.
Boat booked for 8.15. It didn’t leave until 9.00. No messages given for this but assume to fill the boat up. Could barely hear audio at front of the boat. What you could pick was out of sync by a few minutes with the sights and the audio phone app you could download.
The ship is large we were during winter so standing on the deck on top was not an option. On the main floor the seating is set in a way where only a small amount of people can see the sights (mind you it is sight seeing cruise) On top of that explanation started while were docking so by the time we got to see the sights it was talking about it was about 10-15 later
The trip itself was decent, but the boarding process was poorly organized and quite chaotic. There were also not enough seats inside the boat, forcing many passengers to stay on the open upper deck, in a cold and windy weather. This made the experience quite uncomfortable.
I went on this cruise, having been on previous ones operated by different companies and this one was a HUGE disappointment. The boarding process was poorly executed. The instructions on the reservation said to meet at the dock that had the star line cruise sign… my friend and I showed up more than 20 minutes before boarding (in hopes of getting a good seat) at said dock entrance only to figure out the line they were actually checking people in from was from the exit door of the ship. So despite being one of the first people there, we were at the BACK of the queue and as a result, had terrible seats at the back of the upper deck. What made me even more irate was that our view was obstructed by this rickety lifeboat that not only was an eyesore but looked completely decrepit (could it not be stored elsewhere?). Secondly, there were WAY too many people crammed in what was a TINY boat. You could barely hear the tour over the speakers due to the low volume and the conversations of all the travellers (the app wasn’t loading). People were jumping overtop of each other and reaching over us to take pictures which made the experience even LESS enjoyable. This tour offered NOTHING, not even a complimentary glass of water (let alone champagne or Prosecco)… I would say “you get what you paid for” but this tour was not cheap compared to other boat tours I have done that have offered complimentary champagnes and UNLIMITED PROSECO (and water) for the same/similar price. Do not do this cruise. Spend the extra 2-3€ and do the unlimited Prosecco cruise or anything from Legenda. Both were far better than this one in every aspect.
Nignt sight seeing cruise was fantastic. One drink was included. Looking at the buildings on little, from inside a warm boat, with a beer in hand was perfect
Great tour by Silverline from Dock 11. Saw all necessary points of interest. Lower deck had itinery. Would have been useful to have itinerary available to those sat on upper deck as well. Pleasant staff.
My friend and I loved taking the sunset tour. Timing was perfect to see the city light up. We were able to sip drinks while watching both sides, Buda and Pest. We highly recommend.
Lovely cruise, flexible booking times, location is clearly marked and easy to find, staff are friendly and helpful. Boat trip left and returned on time, bottom section with heating and covered upper deck with roof in case of rain, audio guide tells you about the buildings.
crowded but comfortable cruise. nothing really unique.. long queues to board and photos are often hard to take clearly. worth a try but keep your expectations low.
Good luck getting a good seat if you are not a drinker! We arrived about 50 minutes early for our cruise as we wanted to get a seat on the top for the best view. We were the second couple in line. However, as those with drinking packages arrived, they were all let in front of us, regardless of their place in line. Even those arriving five minutes before the cruise were let in before us. By the time they let the non-drinkers board, nearly all of the seats on the top were full. We were able to get seats in the very back corner which had a bit of a restricted view, but non-drinkers arriving maybe 40-45 minutes early would have had to sit downstairs. Despite that frustration, the cruise itself was enjoyable for the views.
The boat trip was fine, no audio given. Nothing more to add to this review today or on the future as I cannot think of anything else yo say to follow the gap
If you want to enjoy a boat cruise please make sure you choose an alternative operator. Rude staff, rip off and above all else disrespect by not treating customers on an equal level.
Obstructed views and no commentary and very short cruise very average and nothing special about it….
The boat was very cramped, we felt like we were packed in like sardines. There was no ability to move around to get photos and there was no audio guide. Seeing Budapest by night is a must, but I would suggest spending more money to get a better experience.
Really unique experience! Good view and unique emotions! I was on the ground floor but I had the opportunity to exit outside and enjoy the view!
It is very crowded and the upper deck is impossible to reach. Otherwisi, the lower deck was fine and the drinks we ordered were nice with a fare price.
Not worth it! Went on it to see the parliaments lit up, but it was in complete darkness. There is nothing else interesting to see you are just cruising up the river.
Till we boarded it was smooth. My mother and kids wanted to have some drinks on board. Even after my wife and my mother kept on calling both the servers, none of them responded during the entire trip. They should have added the note that they serve based on skin color only. We didn't book any discounted or free trip. Never again.
Overall good experience. A bit crowded but that can be due to the seasonal tourism impact. Timings well maintained. Boarding and disembarkation process was smooth.
For the price you can’t beat this night cruise. The only thing I wished I knew is that you should plan on getting in line 30 minutes before sailing if you want to get a seat that is easy to see the sights (top deck) the main deck is enclosed, and the seating doesn’t make it easy to take pictures unless you get up and hope for a empty spot to get to a window.
Seeing the city at night from the river is a must do when visiting Budapest and the trip with Silverline was good. There is no guided talk, which I think is better, especially given the range of languages being spoken. There was the option to download one but we didn't bother. There is table service from the bar for drinks as well as pizza to eat, which our daughter said was surprisingly good. I would recommend this tour.
Great cruise! Just get there early. We got to see A LOT of Budapest on both sides. I got some beautiful photos especially after dark.
Too crowded and no any information about any attraction pass by I will not recommend anyone to waste time on this
