Buda Castle District Walk With Entry To Matthias Church

Best guide ! So much great history . The area at Buda castle is lovely! A must see when in Budapest! Area is beautiful and safe!

We had a great time with our tour guide. He had so much interesting history of Hungary to share. He was a wealth of knowledge.

We greatly enjoyed our Budapest Castle tour with Petra. The area is beautiful and rich in history. Petra was punctual, informative and accommodating to our wishes. At the end of the tour we also enjoyed coffee and desserts while being entertained by a music ensemble. We highly recommend this tour!

A very informative experience with our very knowledgeable guide Bolat. We were fortunate to be the only two guests on the tour, so it was like having our own personal tour. Good insight into the Castle district.

Greg was very knowledgeable and answered all our questions on the history of the Castle district. We would definitely recommend him and the tour.

What I heard of the tour was good - the problem was, I couldn't hear the guide at all. She had a very quiet voice which isn't great for a tour guide, and she kept stopping in really noisy places to talk - like right next to construction or a table full of people drinking loudly. Each time there were better options. And the tour company didn't provide any heating devices. They castle area is always crowded - they shoul ensure you can hear.

Our guide was Knowledgeable and easily understood. Give yourself plenty of time to climb up to the top for the meeting place.

The guide was very welcoming to the group . She was excited to share her in-depth knowledge of Budapest and the sights visited. The tour included a detailed explanation of the history and architecture and its symbolism of Mathias Church as well as an extensive visit inside to the chapels and gallery. Without this narrative it would be impossible to gain the insight to understand the historical significance of. Gained a better understanding of the significance of the Fisherman’s Bastion in regard to its historical placement and design. We were guided to all the areas in the Castle District getting to view the Prime Minister’s and Presidents office locations. Gained an understanding of the ongoing construction and changes being made to restore the area to its former glory. Viewed the vistas from multiple locations . Spent time at the actual former royal residence becoming familiar with the current and future uses of the buildings. Visited the major sculptures around the area and the funicular. Highly recommend.

Monica was an excellent guide and educated us about the history of the of the Castle District. She made efficient use of time and thoroughly answered our questions. We definitely saw sights on the tour that we would not have found on our own. It was also interesting to hear her experiences about growing up in Budapest in the pre-EU era. Highly recommend!

A great guide, who had a lot of knowledge and was answering all our questions in a friendly and patient way. Despite bad whether, we enjoyed the tour and learned a lot. Hopefully we can repeat the tour with better visibility

I booked the tour on line for Buda Castle and when we arrived no one from viator was there and the workers at the facility said it was a scam and the tour only costs a few euros and we were charged $137.00. It was a long walk there up hill - very disappointing.

She brought the history of Buda Castle to life in an engaging way and made the walk both educational and fun. I would definitely take this tour again and highly recommend it to others visiting Budapest.

We then walked through to the Buda Palace where she again covered the various incarnations of Buda, all the way from the original pre medieval settlement, through the various empires and occupations, to its present EU membership. Our time in Budapest was limited and this tour was certainly worthwhile, especially being guided by someone who grew up in Buda and had local knowledge of its history and personal experience of many of the changes that have occurred. Spent a very pleasant two hours in the company of a great gaudier learning about the history of Buda Castle and its landmark buildings. So much better than trying to find out by ourselves our guide was very knowledgeable, informative and made the two hours fly by. We greatly enjoyed this

Great tour. Our Guide Petra was knowledgeable and enjoyable. Mathias Church is beautiful. Petra gave excellent descriptions of the Church architecture and designs and art within. The Buda Castle area was also interesting. The Fisherman’s Bastiion offered great views for photos. Highly recommend.

This was a perfect overview of the Buda Castle area, which up to that point had seemed kind of overwhelming to me. Monika was a fantastic guide. I felt like we really got the insider’s tour of the cathedral, which was far more stunning in person than in pictures. And she gave great insight into other sights in the area as we walked along the tour. I really appreciated Monika taking the time to speak individually with everyone on the tour as we walked around. She was extremely personable and knowledgeable.

Eszter was a fabulous guide! We asked many questions and she provided informative answers, really creating a dialogue with our small group of 3. We thoroughly enjoyed the walking tour and Buda.

Mònika was a fantastic tour guide and showed us all the cool sites in the Budda castle. In the Matthia church we got a cool organ concert. Great views and pictures and cool insider knowledge about the city.

Our tour guide Anna gave a wonderful tour full of history and interesting facts. She made everyone feel included. The church is so pretty inside, and the views, especially on a little back steer, are gorgeous.

Our tour guide was Andrea and she was knowledgeable, had helpfull suggestion for other sights too see in the city. She took us to the different parts of castle for the best light at that ri.e of day to look at the building, church, grounds and the city views. It was a wonderful derful experience and we also learned a lot about the cities history.👍

A wonderful tour around the Castle District of Buda. Very informative and great presentation. Visited Mathias Church, Fisherman’s Bastion and the Buda Castle grounds. Our tour guide, Andrea was perfect with a wonderful knowledge of Hungarian history, local culture, regional politics, and was a very nice person on general.

Gregory was delightful! He grew up in the area and knows it inside and out. We saw the major sites as well a several off the beaten path sites. Definitely a 5 star -- we hated when the tour ended. The area is amazingly beautiful.

Good instructions to find the meet point and our tour guide Rebecca. She was very friendly and had a real passion for history, which showed. She was happy to answer questions and give any extra guidance on specific details during our tour. Really enjoyed the experience and would recommend, if you want a more indepth knowledge of Budapest, its history and the Castle district.

Very beautiful and partially free (if you visit the outside area and the surroundings). It is a good spot to do some sightseeing of Pest. The cafés and restaurants in the complex are very expensive, so I wouldn’t recommend that. We were going to buy tickets for the church, when we saw a sign saying that there would be a free concert later that night. So we came back and not only visited it for free, but also listened to two choirs (one local and another one from the U.S.) —which was a good experience. Right next to the church, there is a Hilton hotel that is like a typical 80’s crystal box building and completely ruins the landscape. I don’t know why they allowed to put that there but —quiet frankly— they should demolish it. This is a historical and heritage site.

Fantastic experience. Greg was great. We had a small group of 3 people, so it was very easy to move around amongst all the tourists. Greg took us on a more local view of the Buda castle area and gave us some great history about the area. Showed us some spots that tourists probably have no idea about! Gave us a great recommendation to go to the Black Raven restaurant in the Buda castle area for a more local experience. Would take another tour with Greg!

This is useless and waste 100 dollar tour. You just go around and see houses around the main attraction. I will not recommend anyone

Our guide was very knowledgable. My husband had his foot in a boot and she accommodated the tour so he could be included and sit down whereever possible. There were only four of us on the tour and that was great. She also helped us at the end of the tour to find our way to our next destination. A very informative and fun tour.
