Loved this tour. Our guide was a fabulous young woman (whose name escapes me). She was both knowledgeable and enthusiastic about her subject matter. The tour was completely unique. She brought us to an amazing Ruin bar, showed us moving and emotive sites, showed us around craft shops, introduced us to murals, and advised us where to dine. You must do this tour is you want the inside scoop on Budapest

Petra gave us an incredible insight into parts of Budapest that we would not have found on our own. Petra’s knowledge about culture and history was outstanding. We were totally engaged every step of the way. We highly recommend this tour with Petra. Our only regret is that we didnt do the tour sooner so that we could revisit some of the local design shops. Thank you so much Petra .
Petra, the guide, was super cool, and took us to the most beautiful places in Budapest that we would never find ourselves. Highly recommended!!!
We learned so much about the history of Budapest through the different street art. It was interesting to see how the city celebrates various populations as well as how Western culture connected with Hungary following the end of Communism.
We booked a private walking tour. Our original booking had to be rescheduled due to a travel delay and the tour company was incredibly accommodating. We met with Bogati and instantly felt welcome and at ease in her company. She spoke to us about art, architecture, literature and history, enthusiastically engaging with all of our questions. I would highly recommend this tour to anyone who has an interest in the above topics as we learnt so much that would never have been possible otherwise during our visit. During the walk I mentioned I'd like to read more about Hungarian lived experiences during the 20th century, and she took us to a lovely independent bookstore where she spoke with the staff who were able to recommend some titles for me. She was professional yet super approachable. It felt like I was walking with a friend. Thank you Bogati for a very memorable experience.
Absolutely fantastic tour. We learned so much and it gave us some great insights on places to go. We really recommend it
Our guide started by asking my friend and I what our expectations of the walking tour was, given that it was just the two of us who had booked on to the walk for that day. We were taken around the Jewish district, stopping of at points of interest and taking in the street art and monuments. Our guide was funny and really interesting - and also asked us questions about life in the UK. Despite the cold weather, the two and a half hours went quickly and before we knew it we were at our last destination - the ruin bar - enjoying a couple of glasses of wine! I'd definitely recommend this tour for something a little bit different.
If you are interested in street art, grafitti, urban art, underground art, this is the tour you do not want to miss. It is informative. You also learn a lot on the 7th district also known as the yewish quartier. Today, the 7th district is burstling with life / cultural life. This is demonstrated with huge wall paintings that are very beautiful. Moreover, they provide an interesting view on today’s Hungary. This is shown in a tour that is guided by a very enthusiastic guide.
Fantastic tour in small group - only three of us. Relaxed stroll through ruin bars and unusual sites.
Took this walking tour on our first afternoon in Budapest. Great way to see some off-the-beaten path stuff. Our guide, Tamàs, was friendly, informative, answered all our questions. Kept it at a comfortable pace in very hot weather. The 3 hours flew by. We only had one other person in our group (3 total). We saw some cool murals in Elizabeth District, ruin bars, a printing shop, and scouted out a good restaurant for later that night. Highly recommend this tour.
Anna was awesome. Super knowledgeable and the tour was really fun. We got to see so many things we probably would have missed out on without her. Highly recommend this tour. She was also super friendly and flexible with our baby we brought. That was really nice for us.
3 hours walking tour of district 7.. Saw some street art and learned of the stories behind them. Nice guide.
With only 2 of us on the tour we had a very personal experience of alternative Budapest. The tour guide was a very passionate knowledgeable local who did an excellent job showcasing this beautiful city. So much history and street art throughout the city each distinct and unique. Beautiful murals and statues scattered throughout Budapest- a treat for anyone new to the city. I would highly recommend this tour to anyone interested in seeing an alternative side of Budapest.
The walking tour was an incredible way to see all of the best spots to eat, have a night out, or explore street art in Budapest. Our tour guide, Anna, was incredible as she was very quick, on time, and very resourceful for many stories. I had a great time exploring the Zero Waste Store, the Jewish District, and many other great stops along the way. I'd only regret that we scheduled this tour at the beginning of the time I spent in the city but even though we had 2 days of sightseeing beforehand, nothing overlapped. Which was really great because we got toured on this excursion around the more locals- point of view of the city. I had such a fantastic time!!! Thank you Anna!!!!!
We did a tour of the Jewish quarter with Sophia. It was great! Thank you Sophia! She has led us through many streets for 3 hours. Enthusiastically she showed and explained the street art paintings. She took us to ruin bars and gave us tips for the evening and the weekend. We went with her to a designer shop and a small private art gallery. With much pleasure and charm she showed us her Budapest. Her English is excellent.
I enjoyed this tour. It was a small group, our guide bogata spoke English well and was very informative. She gave us the history of the quarter we were Viewing the wall art in but also a brief history of the over all country. The art and how it came to be and also little antidotes. We stopped into a cloth design shop where they make their own screens silk prints for their clothing or you can buy just the prints. The shop owner gave us an explanation of how he does it. She also showed us local markets where street vendors that were selling their art and other homemade treasures. Each stop she let us know how and why these places became. We also stopped in one of the ruin bars. She made sure to ask if we needed to stop for refreshments or food at regular intervals and was very helpful with giving recommendations to local places to try. At this price it was a steal of a deal. I would have liked to have done this at the beginning of my trip as opposed to the end so i could have explored the areas she showed us more. Its a walking tour but guide never made us feel rushed so just felt like a leisurely walk.
I was the sole member for this tour. Sophia was delightful and informative as we explored the 7th District/Jewish Quarter. I particularly enjoyed the wall murals - their background and effect on the neighborhood.
there were 4 of us who signed up for the tour, two couples. ended up being the entire small group. we were met by Sophia who was just fantastic. she had so much knowledge and was passionate about her city of Budapest. we did a walking tour of the Jewish quarter, she explained all the synagogues, background of the street art muals, overview of the ruin bars, we stopped for a drink at a patio area, and overall, a wonderful way to tour that part of Budapest. and Sophia was the best guide ever. highly recommend this tour.

Great walking tour. Our guide was extremely knowledgeable and very engaging. Highly recommended to anyone who wants to see some of the local art and learn things about the city that you won't find in a conventional guide book.

A very interesting and worthwhile tour. A great opportunity to learn about street art, design, politics and local history as you walk through the 7th district. Our guide Anita Kurti, was excellent, knowledgeable and open to answering the many questions that came up as we went along. I learned a lot, met some interesting people and thoroughly enjoyed the entire experience. I highly recommend this tour to anyone interested in learning how art, history and politics intersect here in Budapest. A huge thank you to Anita!

Not really what expected. Not enough content on subject.

Awesome tour. We were so lucky to be the only ones on the tour with Darius. We saw things that would have been difficult to do on our own. So informative and fun. Thanks Darius for sharing your knowledge of culture and art in Budapest and for the amazing conversations. Best tour I've ever taken anywhere. Very highly recommended.

Loved this tour and tour leader was great. Off the beaten tourist circuit and maybe not for everyone but we really enjoyed it.

Awesome tour, our guide was really experienced and happy to share many personal stories as well about the culture and history of the city. I loved in Budapest for a while years earlier and I found myself exploring parts I had never seen before.

I liked how relaxing and informal the tour was. Very interesting in some interesting neighborhoods:

Fabulous tour with charming Bogata who is knowledgeable on all Budapest street art and funky venues offering a stylish insight of evolving Budapest contemporary culture. I loved the visit to Massolit book store and cafe, the visit to Corvina and fab trendy cafe enjoying great company.

Thankyou Bogata, wishing you well in future ventures.

Lesley
Portsmouth. UK

Informative, entertaining and relaxed from the start, this tour was exactly the combination of artsy insights into today's city life and welcoming orientation exercise on new and exotic streets I was looking for. And my guide, media designer Dareios brought massive charm, wry humour and jaw-droopingly good English to the mix. His smart commentary added an authentic, young-local-artist perspective to the more official line about contemporary culture and its commercial successes, and as I was lucky enough to be the only customer on the freezing January afternoon I took the tour, he asked how he could tailor it my interests, and even invited me for an excellent Hungarian craft beer afterwards in a deeply cool bar in District 8 I'll probably never be able to find again. 11 out of 10 for customer service and canny chat. Thanks D.

I think calling calling this tour 'Art and Culture' is misleading. It certainly gives you an insight into an emerging and edgy side of the city and you'll see examples of graffiti and learn about how young Hungarians view their present leader. I was however expecting more culture as the title suggests. We did visit two small galleries, but I was disappointed not to see more established galleries and exhibitions.I also felt that the tone of the tour was geared to a younger audience which was a shame.

My tour guide became a friend, ended up going to one of her gigs. highly recommended

Clear stories, very good languages and funny presenter with full knowledge of Budapest

I really enjoyed this tour. Agnes was a very charming and knowledgeable guide. I liked that the stops showed various aspects of Budapest culture, providing us with places to revisit at a later date (which I did!). If you want to get a taste of cool places to see in Budapest then this is the tour!

It was a fascinating look at the alternative art scene in Budapest. Although the tour itself was pretty disorganized, I would still recommend this tour to explore the non-touristy parts of Budapest.

Very nice. Guide was friendly and new her information. Very lovely lady and beautiful sites.

My boyfreind and I booked this a mere 24hours before and we received our confirmation quickly.

Antonia was our guide and is very much a local who doesn't only know Budapest art and culture, it is her lifestyle. You know this as during the tour she'll acknowledge local acquaintances and discus how she herself discovered the things she will show you.
I really wouldn't of understood/ noticed the significance of the things pointed out and really aren't in any guide books Trust me I bought 3 before my trip. The tour is based mostly in 7th district, the modern young hub of the city with a complex past.It is a walking tour and you'll stop for a drink on route which allows you a little time to explore the venue alone at your pace.

You must be into arts in some form to enjoy it,history and politics of course plays a part of the tour but you don't need to be well versed in it as she explains well and it is only really discussed in context of what is being shown. If you are interested in 'Hungarians opinion about ...' she's happy to oblige you. Her english is fantastic and was well understood by all the nationalities on the tour. The tone is friendly, relaxed and light hearted. Expect hipster havens, peeping in on local artists at work and the products of community projects. At the end of the tour she was very accommodating in offering us tips during our stay of events going on and places we might like based on our tastes.

The Tour will take your afternoon but you leave the guide with a feeling of understanding the modern Budapest and its arty inhabitants. More than worth the time and money.

Antonia Vai is also a fantastic musician and we were fortunate to be able to pop in on a gig which we thoroughly enjoyed.

- Mac

A really interesting tour, with a very welcoming and knowledgeable guide who clearly loved the city and wanted us, as visitors, to know more about its recent artistic history. A couple of pit-stops for coffee and mulled cider were much appreciated on a cold November afternoon! Would highly recommend.

Great guide. Took her time to explain the street art we saw and really enjoyed our stop at a ruin bar and coffee shop. In addition, our guide made many suggestions for restaurants and other sights we might be interested in.

This tour was wonderful and our guide was enthusiastic and knowledgeable. We saw a part of the city that we would never have seen on our own. She took us to places that only a local would know about. Truly worthwhile. We had a very small group and they still honored the commitment.

Disappointed. We only saw a couple of street art and visited 3 designs/art stores (that was the main part of the tour). We saw three walls with street art on it -not even local artists. The tour was restricted to a limited area. I would not recommend. Too long for what we saw. The guide was very friendly and profesionnal but it's the tour itself that wasn't interested and way too expensive for what we did and saw.

This is NOT an Art and Culture Walking Tour - this title is very misleading as it turned out to be an "alternative Budapest" tour, consisting of looking at lots of graffiti. Very nice if you're into looking at that sort of thing but needless to say I'm not. Viator, you have this description SO wrong - please re-name it "alternative Budapest" so that people know what they are getting. Most disappointing.

Not too bad a tour i think it was a bit too focused on graffiti

A different sort of walking tour andone that we thoroughly enjoyed. It showed us parts of Budapest we would not have seen otherwise, and the street art and design focus made it particularly interesting. The guide was knowledgeable and enthusiastic.

This is a must if you are at all interested in the arts and culture. The tour guides are knowledgeable and friendly.

Very enjoyable walking tour. The guide knew a lot about street art and was easy to understand. I also enjoyed seeing Szimpla and the A-38 ship. Both unique to Pest.

I look at graffiti and street art differently after taking the tour and learning some of the methods that the artists use.

I will definitely take the Berlin Tour if I get there next year.

Nice experience despite the hot weather. We saw places we would never have visited without the excellent guide. The following days, we were still checking grafitti all over Budapest. Great fun, strongly recommended, even for elderly people like us. We were not so much interested in the music ship at the end (made the trip a bit long) but that might have been a question of age.

Interesting and informative. Antonia clearly has a passion for art and performance and I lived seeing budapest through a different lens than your typical site seeing tour. I was the oldest in the group by decades but felt very comfortable. A grat experience.

Maybe it was me... maybe I don't understand the struggle and angst of today's Hungarian youth.... maybe I was too old for this tour..... maybe I should have stuck to the tourist sights especially since my time in Budapest was short.....I don't know. But walking the wet and dirty side-streets looking at "street art" (few and far between) and dropping into out - of - the- way quaint galleries was not what I expected. The walk ended at Szimpla Pub - a funky eclectic mix of kitsch and trash, top-rated on other sites as "the" Budapest hotspot (a bit slow on this midweek afternoon). Full marks to the young guide for her enthusiasm but this tour was a bit off the mark!

This tour was excellent! I would tell anybody to go on it! We saw all the things ones wouldn't see on any other tour of Budapest! Tour guide was very helpful and knowledgable of the city!

We enjoyed the tour, it was interesting, our guide was very good, and she also told us few things about Hungarian language. Pronounsing words is a bit easier now. :) And the places! Wow... Never would have found them without this tour.

This tour was absolutely brilliant - a refreshing change from all of the other tours I have been on. It really gave me a more sophisticated view of Budapest today and in particular youth culture. If you appreciate street art, music, and design you will love this tour!!

Fantastic tour. I had my 10 yr and 7 yr old daughters with me and we all loved it. We walked for 3 hours and where shown some great art. Still talking about it now. Great guide, beautiful, knowledgable and interactive with everyone on the tour.
