Adventure Caving Experience In Budapest

Fabulous tour guide and wonderful experience.

This was a true adventure! Be prepared to crawl on hands and knees and through incredibly tight spaces. Our tour was several hours long and we were a group of 8. No one had previous experience caving but the guide was incredibly informative, supportive and helpful. Easy to panic but no one did! I recommend and would do it again.

The tour was very fun, taking us 40+ m deep into the cave system. The caves were dry, but the floor was clay so expect your shoes to get dirty scrambling around. The actual caving exceeded my expectations for difficulty, there were numerous passages we had to crawl and even worm through. Definitely not for the claustrophobic, but we were all stoked. Our guide Laszlo was super helpful, answering all our questions before we even thought to ask. He provided insight into the history of each chamber, as well as keeping us all chatting. I definitely recommend trying to get a tour later in the day or on the off season, our group of 6 was a perfect size, but apparently they can be up to 12 people.

I spent 2 months travelling Europe and this was one of my absolute FAVOURITE experiences!! We had Szilárd as our tour/cave guide and he was simply delightful, making us laugh non-stop and encouraging us from start-to-finish, he really elevated an already-fantastic adventure! Recommend to anyone and everyone!

This was super fun! If you want a unique experience with an interesting and very experienced guide this is it! Laso our guide has 31 years experience caving and was super helpful in getting everyone thorough even the tightest spots in the caves (and there were a few REALLY tight spots). We were in a group of about 10 people and it was perfect. This was a challenging experience and definitely not for those that have issues with tight spaces. Good physical fitness is definitely a must. Also, wear boots or shoes you don’t mind getting dirty. You will get dirty! Great time though.

Did I forget to write a review? Omg, this experience was so worth it! Something I still talk about a couple years later! Great tour guide helped us get through all the tight spaces, keeping us calm, safe and giving us some great history about the caves and the history. Being claustrophobic this is something I never thought I could do, but so proud that I was able to keep it together and get through.

I actually went on the tour back in June of 2023. I was travelling alone and very nervous to go, never having caved before. Well I'm so glad I was brave that day. What an eye opening experience, with an inspiring female guide. Even giving us the chance to experience caving in complete darkness. This experience inspired me to take up caving back in the UK. I've just been out on my 150th trip, and cave regularly 2-3 times a week. I now have the skills to lead groups of people around caves myself, including complex rope work and have done some of the hardest trips in the UK. All thanks to Caving Under Budapest! Thank you from the bottom of my heart for helping me find my passion. I don't know who I'd be without it.

A little challenging for people who aren't so young anymore but had a great time and the guide was awesome

It was a great experience. The tour guide tailored the cave route to the group’s capabilities. We went through challenging nooks and crannies and the rocks, and met cave ghost and monsters. Totally recommend this experience to anyone loves a physical adventure.

I had so much fun during the Budapest Cave Experience! The instructor was incredibly nice, informative and helpful, making sure everyone felt safe and enjoyed the experience. It was a unique and exciting adventure and I would definitely do it again. Highly recommended! 😊

Our experience with Adventure Caving Experience in Budapest was absolutely fantastic. From start to finish, everything was incredibly well organized, and our guide was attentive, engaging, and made sure everyone in the group felt safe and comfortable throughout. The cave itself was stunning and the entire experience felt like a true adventure. It ended up being a standout highlight of our recent trip to Hungary. My wife especially loved it, which made it even more memorable for us. Highly recommend this to anyone visiting Budapest and looking for something unique and unforgettable!

This was such a unique and fun experience! We had a great time in a group of five- all solos and a super fun guide! We got to do so many fun parts of the cave. It felt wild and so cool. It ended up being around 2-2.5 hours in the cave. Warning: It takes some decent physical strength to crawl through places and we were all definitely sweating. I am also 5'6 and 62 kg (143lbs) and I dont know if people much bigger than me could get through certain places! They might cater the trail depending though :)

The tour was amazing! We had a blast with the tour guide, super funny guy. The experience was totally out of our comfort zones but with the group of 5 people you could really count on each other. Would recommend to anyone who is looking for an active and fun experience in Budapest!

This was incredible! Lotzy was an incredible guide with great knowledge and added some humor along the way. He helped one of the other people in the tour be confident in squeezing through some of the tighter areas and always demonstrated how to navigate the pathways and routes. This was a 5 star experience and would definitely do it again. I love adventure activities and this satisfied my hopes for the tour

Very fun and interesting tour. Depending on the group you're going with and the guide you get the tour may be more or less adventurous and more or less fun or stressful.

What an amazing experience! Thank you to our guide Lazlo for this trip. It was my first time caving like this, and I don't consider myself fit, but directions from the guide were very helpful. Taller people would likely have harder time going there though. The activity started at 14:50, and we were out by 17:00. Our guide and his support, humor and stories were a big part of why the whole experience felt so good and overwhelming in a good way.

Definitely the best tour I have ever tried! The instructor was very funny but professional. The caving experience was quite physically demanding but a wonderful experience! Oh please don’t wear white sneakers as they only provide clothes but not shoes for the tour.

Silad (the guide) was amazing and made it an unforgettable experience in the caves. It was exciting and unique to spend time in the caves. Definitely coming back for a different route in the future.

Szilárd, our amazing guide, showed us seashell fossils, told cave stories, squeezed through tiny tunnels like Spider-Man, turned into “Santa” with chocolate, and even sang a Hungarian folk song. We went about 50 metres underground, while the deepest parts reach around 100 metres for advanced cavers. Side information: I have difficulty in finding the meet up point. Luckily the coach came to search for me. I have added a picture to showcase the meet up location. It is the second floor of the building.

Amazing tour! Guide is very passionate about the cave’s history and you learn so much! Very interesting formations and if you are ok w/getting a bit dusty and having fun exploring, definitely worth doing.

LOVED this caving tour. It was my fiance and I’s first caving experience. Going in, I was excited and she was scared. It was very fast paced and high energy with TIGHTTTT squeezes and I loved every second of it. My fiance would say she enjoyed it but was nervous. If you want high adrenaline caving than this is the pick. If you want slow paced and mostly walking then pick something else.

It was definitely one of the high lights of our trip ! My 50th birthday challenge and was great fun ,fantastic leader ,talked me through the gabs . There was one section which was very very tight and didn’t think I could make it through,but got out alive! lol

The Adventure Caving Experience in Budapest was a blast! It was physically challenging but incredibly rewarding, we had so much fun crawling, climbing, and squeezing our way through the underground cave system. If you're into adventure and don’t mind getting a bit dirty, this is definitely something to add to your list. One suggestion: while the booking info does mention that you shouldn't be very overweight, we think it would be more helpful if they listed specific body measurements (in cm or inches). My nephew, who’s built like an American football lineman—strong and fit—was right on the edge of being able to fit through some of the tighter sections. A little more detail upfront would help people know what to expect. That said, the guides were great, we got some awesome pictures, and the whole experience felt well-organized and safe. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a real underground adventure in Budapest!

Great caving experience! Our guide was knowledgeable, fun and friendly! I highly recommend an adventure caving trip with this company! A proper wild caving trip with fun squeezes and slides and challenges. The interpretation and explanation of cave formation from our guide was insightful and interesting. You can tell her passion for caving and her love for teaching all about it!

Crawling through the network of caves and caverns led by the energetic and legendary David, this was by far my favourite activity in Budapest! From the tight squeezes to slides, rock scrambles and camo crawling, this cave has all the elements of an epic underground adventure. I'd highly recommend to visit the thermal baths after doing this tour to release and relax your muscles as you will be sore!

We only had 3 days in Budapest and nothing booked other than walking around and experiencing the city (and this activity). Super thankful we took the plunge and did this! It was so much fun, really pushed our limits and good exercise. Highly suggest, super friendly guide and a great way to connect with people from other parts of the world and work together throughout the cave system.

Such a fun and authentic experience, definitely a highlight of my Budapest trip! Our guide was so nice, informative, and she really made us feel safe the whole time. It felt like a real cave exploration, not just a walk-and-listen tour. We got to crawl, climb, and squeeze through narrow passages. Just keep in mind it requires some fitness and flexibility. Totally worth it!

Amazing experience! But be aware, there is a moderate level of physical fitness absolutely required, the more the better. You will be army crawling, not even on hands and knees through parts. Some passages require pretzeling your body into specific configurations to fit through a keyhole. And it’s fairly continuous. We were underground at least two hours. All that said, our party consisted of ages 20-55 and everyone made it through. It’s the best caving tour I’ve ever taken, hands down.

Amazing experience, thanks to our guide Laci who was well attuned to our group. He was able to explain things both in English and German. We walked, climbed, crawled trough the cave and its various terrain an openings. Loved it! It's two and a half hours long, but not too physically strenuous.

We wanted to do something a little different while on a weekend city break, and this was definitely it. Amazing experience, the tour guide was fantastic and it gives you a nice mental challenge.

I just got out of the 3-hour caving tour with Szilárd, and I feel incredible. I was nervous going in — claustrophobic and unsure if I’d be able to handle it — but this tour completely changed that. The experience was thrilling, challenging, and empowering in all the right ways. Szilárd is an absolute legend. Supportive, funny, calm, and clearly knows these caves like the back of his hand. He made every person feel safe and capable, never rushed anyone, and kept the mood light even in the tightest spots. You could tell he loves what he does, and that energy made all the difference. I faced a big fear down there — and came out proud, smiling, and honestly kind of buzzing. If you’re even thinking about doing it: do it. And ask for Szilárd if you can. 10/10. Unforgettable

Fantastic trip all round. Unfortunately missed my bus and they were kind enough to wait for me with no hard feelings. Tour guide was brilliant, had us all laughing the whole time. Quite difficult at times with tight squeezes which was exactly what I was hoping for! 10/10

My favorite experience of my entire trip and my whole group would say the same. Definitely tight spaces and need to be in good shape it’s tiring. The tour guide Melinda was amazing and guided everyone to make it easier too. She had so much knowledge of cave touring and of this specific one which made you feel so comfortable. 10/10 would recommend and Melinda was AMAZING.

Absolutely recommend experience of caving! It was educational & fun. In particular the ‘lights off’ together with that absolute quiet underground are an experience you can only make while caving. Laszlo calls the cave his 2nd home - be prepared he has some fun challenges at hand. We absolutely enjoyed this experience and put some caving close to home on our bucket list.

Not your average cave tour, it really is a caving experience. We were in the cave system for 2 1/2 hours with all kinds of squeezing down and up through tight spaces. Well paced with short rests and stories in larger sections. Don't go if you're claustrophobic!

What a fantastic day. Our guide was Laci who is an experienced expedition caver with a sound knowledge of the caves of the area. As cavers we were impressed with his manner, skill and enthusiasm. Then your was excellent taking in the lower reaches of the cave. Laci explained the huydology of the karst sytem and gave excellent example of geological features. Many thanks to all involved .

The tour in the cave with our guide Lottie was amazing. It was quite an adventure and not one that I expected to have in a major city. There were a lot of interesting fossils, formations, and other histories he told us on the tour. This was one of my favorite things I did here and I cannot recommend it enough.

Throughly enjoyed this activity, the guide was very knowledgable and experienced but also fun and happy. He gave us options on easier and harder routes too. Would recommend shoes you don't mind ruining, you get very very dusty! I also would recommend doing the thermal spa the next day, instead of before🤣

Do you love caves? Tight spaces don’t bother you? Then this is the break you need from recorded tours and sightseeing!!! Crawling around is just what I needed.

Had an incredible time on this tour! Me and my siblings went together it was our favourite thing we did in Budapest. The guide was so funny and entertaining, he kept us laughing through the panic and adrenaline of the caves. I would recommend this to anyone interested. We slid, crawled, wiggled, sang made friends with the group and learned a lot in the caves.
