Diamond Astoria 4, Quiet Apartment

Burglars came into the room and stole our stuff. Door was locked and we were away for just 30-45 minutes. The host was unhelpful, acting nonchalant and almost a bit suspicious. We locked the door, but someone came in without breaking anything. First the host tells us we must have not locked the door, then he offers to change the lock? He changes his story and has a lot of excuses. The police told us most likely the burglars had a key. We just wanted to end our stay and find another place to stay, because of course it did not feel safe to sleep there. But the host did not accept our cancelation and did not want to refund anything. Not even a small part. I still have so many questions, how did someone know we were gone for just 30-45 minutes. Feels like we have been watched and the host knows more than he says. He acts like this is very normal. Find another stay if you do not want to lose your luggage and money.

The host didn’t want to reschedule our trip in februari 2021. And we couldn’t leave our country due to Covid. He didn’t want to make a financial compensation . Because we booked our trip in august an already rescheduled once (because the borders of Hungary where closed!). So we lost more then 50%! Thanks!
