Took this tour with Avo (guide) 9 years so and it was great. Even better now. His depth/breadth on the subject matter is excellent fun person as well. 100% worth it.

This tour is exceptional! Avo is a wonderful host and you can tell his heart goes into making this tour special for all his guests. Everything is very thoughtful and he takes the time to set everything up ahead of time so the entire tour is seamless. Our group of four ended up being his group for the day due to a cancellation which made this tour even more special (if possible). Would recommend for anyone and everyone to get the opportunity to explore Brussels and learn about their history with Avo.
Wow what an amazing experience we had. Avo was very knowledgeable not only of the history of Brussels but of chocolate and beer. This was truly worth the money, highly recommend this tour. Great way to end our time in Brussels.
We had a very nice afternoon with Avo, who knows every thing you want to know about beer and chocolate. We learned a lot about Belgium and Brussel as well.
Our host was extremely passionate and so knowledgable of this city. His stories were real and magnetic, pulling us all into the amazing history of Brussel’s chocolate and beer culture. I’m so thankful to have chosen this tour over others. This was a real treat, and a perfect way to end my husband and I’s first trip to Europe. Thank you Avo!!
Very educational but also loads of fun. As you would imagine, this tour leaves you full and happy. Awesome!
We had a wonderful time learning about the diverse city of Brussels. Arrive to the tour hungry and thirsty! We experienced so many wonderful chocolates, beer, waffle, writes, and a special ending i don't want to spoil for anyone. Such a wonderful day and worth every penny!!
Avo was absolutely amazing, it was pouring rain and he smiled the whole time we went to many chocolate shops ,stopped had a waffle ,frites and local beers. He hit the highlights of this beautiful city and ended with some amazing whiskey.
I really enjoyed the tour. He was amazing sharing history of chocolate and beer, while getting us to taste everything. This was well worth it!
What can I say about Avo? This was probably one of the best tours we’ve ever taken. Avo is so personable and very passionate about his city. You can tell the tour has been tailored to showcase what he feels is the heart of Brussels. We started the tour with some information about the grand place and then moved on to the chocolate. The shops knew we were coming and the samples had been prepared ahead of time. In the first stop we had the ability to sit down behind the scenes and really learn about chocolate from bean to bar. Then we tried some AMAZING pieces from 4 different chocolate shops which were all different. After the chocolate was the BEER. We sat at a table in the heart of the galleria and shared several different beers. My husband is the beer drinker, I am not. Avo offered me other things to drink which was nice. While at the galleria we had some delicious frites with ketchup and mayo and a loaded Belgian waffle to soak up all the beer. After that we took a short walk to a private space where Avo had prepared some tapas to pair with some more beer samples. You can really tell he enjoys leading this tour and showing tourists his side of Brussels. We even ran into him a week later and he remembered us and greeted us with a hug and a smile. I would absolutely book this tour, you won’t regret it!!
Avo was a great tour guide. We got try a little bit of everything and learn about the history of the city, as well as the history behind the chocolates, beer, and whiskey. It was very cool!
Avo taught us so much about Beer and Chocolate and we had such a blast! This tour was excellent!! We would recommend this tour wholeheartedly!!
Avo was absolutely amazing. So knowledgeable and friendly! We had the best time, learned so much, and will absolutely book again/recommend to friends and family.
Avo was one of the best tour guides (of any kind) that I’ve had. He was knowledgeable, personable, and provided a wealth of information about Belgian chocolate, beer, waffles, and whiskey. It was a fantastic value for the money with all the chocolate, beer, waffle, and whiskey samples you could want in an afternoon. He also included a bit of history about the places we walked by to get to our various destinations.
Avo our tourist guide was so knowledgeable of Brussels. He oriented us about the history and the best of chocolates, beer, frites and whiskey. He didnt mind about the time even though we extended for as long as he could give us the best of what Brussels has to offer when it comes ro chocolates. Beer, frites and whisky. Truly, an enriching and delicious experience. We didnt have to eat dinner coz our stomachs we all so full. I highly recommend this tour for those who want to want to experience an exceptional gastronomic experience.👏👏👏👍👍👍
Lots of everything! Information, chocolate, beer, fun! Beautiful city. Great history including buildings…
Good tour, small group, knowledgeable and very friendly guide. Good options for the tastings, dont go during a heat wave ;)
Lots of great information. Great coverage of beer, chocolate, waffles and a very enjoyable whisky tasting. A must do!!
If you want to know where to buy the good Belgium chocolates then Avo is your guy. He will teach you all about chocolate, how it is made and where to find the good stuff. He will also teach you everything you ever wanted to know about beer. Belgium beer is as complex as wine and is enjoyed much the same way. You will learn what glass to use with each type of beer, why it helps and what ingredients make the best beer. There are a few surprises along the way too. This is my second time taking this tour and it was as good as the first. Avo knows his stuff and makes sure everyone on the tour is taken care of.
Ton of chocolate, beer and snacks along with a wealth of knowledge. We had a blast and learned a lot.
Avo was a great host. His knowledge on the history of Brussels adds colour to the story. The variety of chocolates, beer and whisky was excellent. Also the story behind each type of beer was fascinating
This is my second time on this tour after my first trip a few years ago. Our guide Avo is very knowledgeable, and you leave the tour having learnt so much about chocolate and beer. I would recommend going on an empty stomach as you get a lot of food!
Avo was excellent, took a lot of effort to teach us about Belgian chocolates, beer and whiskey. It was a fantastic tour!
OMG! Book it! Book it! Book it!! If I could give this tour 10 stars, I would!! Let me start by saying that I am NOT a beer aficionado. I don’t even really drink alcohol. But this tour was amazing!! Avo was friendly and funny (warning that he does curse; not a lot, but in case you’re sensitive to that). We started in Grand Place where we gave us historic details about Brussels and Belgium. Then we went to a chocolate shop where we got a table in the back and he walked us through the amazing history of chocolate in general, and then Belgium in particular. We tasted three chocolates from that shop as well as a macaron and discussed them as though we were wine sommeliers. Very, very cool to discover chocolate for what it should be, and not what is wrapped in plastic at the grocery store. We then went to another shop and tasted three more, and then another shop with three more chocolates plus we had a traditional Belgian cuberdon and well as Belgian ice cream. So incredible! We ate our ice cream as he took us through Grand Place, with more historic details and then a fun visit to Manneken Pis. We finished the chocolate part of the tour with a visit to the Royal Family’s Chocolatier and a tasting of the rare Ruby Chocolate. That was just the first part of the tour!!! We then went to the Royal Galleries for food and beer. We got a full history of Belgian beer, and details on what makes it truly Belgian, etc. we tasted more beers than I can count all while also eating Belgian Fries and a Belgian Waffle. It was heavenly!! After being there for a bit, we walked off the sugar and calories for about 30ish minutes, visiting Jeanneke Pis and Zenneke Pis, as well as seeing some of the hidden neighborhoods of the ‘real’ Brussels for locals. Absolutely fantastic! Our final stop was a little hidden restaurant where we got some breads, cheeses and other snacks, while we got the full history of the Trappist beers. Tasting the “best beer in the world” was a treat even for me, a non-beer drinker. And then we finished with the whiskey. Our group was only 7 and we all laughed and had an amazing time together. This was THE best way to truly experience a taste of Belgium!! Book it!!!
Avo has so much knowledge about chocolate and beers, this was a really fun tour. The chocolate experience is exactly that, an experience. And the beers, delicious. If you are looking for a small group tour packed with flavour, I highly recommend!
Imagine if you had a tour guide who loved what they did when they worked with bigger tours operators, but their bosses continually wanted them to stick to the same main/boring script. They got fed up with that and instead they broke off and tailored a tour to show the real Brussels (food, beer, culture) in a small group setting. This is one tour I cannot recommend enough to truly see what Belgium is all about. You get just the right amount of food, beer, chocolate, whiskey, and history. The value is definitely worth the price and I can say that if I ever came back I’d even consider rebooking. For those of you who say “I want to see local and authentic Brussels” and truly do, this is the one. You found it.
This is a very good tour. Avo is really knowledgeable about chocolate and beer, and of course Belgium, so we learned a lot along the way.
This was a fun way to experience Brussels. Avo was an amazing tour guide. He was very knowledgeable and friendly. I like that he keeps his groups small and interacts with everyone, making sure we all enjoyed our experience. Thanks Avo!
I don't normally do guided tours, but this was a very unique one and it was definitely worthwhile. I'm a bit of a beer nerd and this was an excellent experience for me (although, I think a more casual beer-drinking would enjoy it, too). The opportunity to taste Westvleteren 12 made the tour especially memorable. The chocolate portion of the tour was great, as well. Avo is an excellent guide!
You will not only enjoy the chocolates and beer, but become knowledgeable and appreciative of them. Avo not only loves telling the stories behind these products, but will also provide a concise history of Belgium.
This was the best tour. Our guide was knowledgeable and passionate about the importance of knowing what you’re getting.
We had a amazing tour with Avo. You can tell he really is passionate about doing this tour and has really found the best of the best places to take us to for the tour. Tried so many different kinds of chocolates and he explained why he picked those particular shops. Told us the history of those shops. Same with the Belgium beers. He takes his time and the tour lasted over 5 hours and was a wonderful time. Highly recommend.
Tour guide Avo was fantastic. Very knowledgeable and easy to approach and engage in conversation. Having a small tour was excellent. The range of food and beverage was delicious.
Avo is an amazing guide! He was very knowledgeable and his tour has a diverse array of treats. The samples were amazing and we were provided our own sample, unlike other tours where the dish is shared amongst the group. This tour is unique in the fact that you are sampling specialty chocolates and rare Belgian beers. I would highly recommend this tour if you are in Brussels!
Well worth the money! Avo was amazing! Lots of history of beer and chocolate! Plenty of food and drinks!
Avo was amazing! He is very knowledgeable and entertaining. The experience itself was one of the best tours I have had. Would highly recommend.
Lots of information about the history of Brussels, beer, and chocolate. Avo, our guide, was extremely knowledge about everything! Wished we had done the tour when we first got to Brussels and not the day we were leaving. He had great recommendations about restaurants and parts of Brussels to visit. Fantastic tour!
I can't recommend this enough. Before I even arrived in Brussels, I met someone in Bruges that was raving about this exact tour. If you go to Brussels, trust me when I say you don't want to miss out on this. The amount of history I learned about chocolate and beer in one day was astonishing. I feel so fulfilled and satisfied. Also, the end of the tour has a special surprise that you do not want to miss.
A great experience. The guide was a local and knew so much. The small group made it perfect. Best way to see the city and try the beer and chocolates!
Great tour and well worth the money! We were able to see many parts of Brussels and sampled several beers and chocolates, all delicious!
Guide very knowledgeable. Generous in number of beers offered and lots of snacks. The chocolates are excellent and is my favorite part of the tour.
Avo is very knowledgeable and makes this experience one of a kind. He provides a lot information on choclates and beers. The highlight for me where the information for the trappist beers and westvleteren 12!
This was our first time in Brussels and we wanted to make sure that we had an enjoyable tour that allowed us to hit the basics of Brussels and learn a thing or two. Avo’s tour did all of that and more! Avo keeps the groups small so that he can give an intimate and attentive tour experience. He provided us with access to some of the most delicious things that Brussels has to offer but also gave us the context and background for each item that allowed us to enjoy it even more. His tour was in-depth, engaging, and captured our attention for every second. I can’t recommend his tour enough!
Avo was great. Seemed quite enthusiastic and knowledgeable. Very polite and watched after the group.
The 7 hour tour was the most enjoyable and educational tour hosted by a most compassionate and knowledgeable guide. Avo, our guide came highly recommended and certainly lived up to his expertise.
This tour was amazing. Avo, our guide, was a wealth of information about Belgium, chocolate, and beer. We learned so much. We sampled 12 chocolates, 7 beers, and had snacks, waffles, and whiskey to boot. Thank you Avo and Viator.
Avo was the best tour guide, full of information & history and supplier of food & drinks. You get the best bites and beers on this tour- all top quality and even get an exclusive beer that's 20-25 euro per bottle. You will definitely be full by the time you leave and learn a ton about the best chocolate, waffles, and beer in Brussels.
Excellent tour! Avo made sure it was an intimate experience with a max of 8 - 10 people, and he explained very well the history of chocolate and beer in Brussels and Belgium. This included private tables, excellent chocolate, and quite a lot of local beer and its history! Avo was awesome and answered all of our questions even when it wasn’t about the tour subject, he was very funny and straightforward and he gave excellent restaurant recommendations that weren’t in the big touristy areas of Brussels. This was an awesome tour and 10/10 would recommend!
This was an amazing tour and well worth the price. Avo shared Brussels history in an entertaining manner that made it easy to take in and we learned so much about beer and chocolate. I wasn't much of a chocolate fan but now realized it's because i hadn't had the right ones. The tour is a long one but it's informative with great pacing of chocolate, beer, waffle and beer, chocolate, then beer and then whisky. Eat a light lunch if you need it because you'll need that space for all the tastings. Don't bother buying chocolate until after the tour... The things you look for in good chocolate will change.
Avo was an amazing tour guide. We were quite lucky on this trip, in that we received a personal VIP tour!! Due to cancellations, my wife and I were the only ones on the tour, and Avo made it amazing. We learned more about the city and history on this tour than in any textbooks we studies. The information is presented in a great way, linked to all of the great chocolate, food, and beer you are tasting. Hands down, one of the best tours I have ever been on, and a must book if you are in Brussels!!
