I’m only commenting on the restaurant as I haven’t stayed at the hotel. We tried the breakfast buffet at Van der Valk Hotel Waterloo and honestly... it's a solid 4/5 from me. Think: fresh pastries , juices & fruit , specialty coffees 3, cheeses & charcuterie, eggs, omelettes... basically everything you need tor a slow, indulgent morning. # What I loved: So much variety (there's something for everyone) Fresh + well presented Relaxed, elegant #atmosphere What could be better: It's not the most "wow" brunch I've ever had... but definitely worth it for the price. €22 per person (kids half price 4 4) Daily from 06:30-10:30 They've also got a restaurant, brasserie for dinner and lunch however I haven’t tried it.

We had an amazing stay at Van der Valk Hotel Waterloo — the staff was welcoming, the rooms were spotless and comfortable, and the overall service exceeded our expectations. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a relaxing and luxurious experience!”
Im, sorry, but my first booking was for a normal room which cost me 110 euro or something like that... Because i payed for the room already through my bank, Then i got an email from you, telling me there was no available rooms on the dates i had booked, So i could NOT get my money back, as that is your policy, I had to UP GRADE, which is a rip off system, because on Booking.com it is possible to get a refund!!! Please dont call me a liar. The coffee filter had mold in it.. its a shame i didnt take a foto..I cleaned some of it, purely out of unbelief and the receptionist took it away and cleaned it...Please dont underestemate my exsperience...And NO, i want be coming back to visit you or recommend you. I paid a lot of money for my room, which I didn't really need but had to upgrade because I booked on line then they told me there was no accomodation on the date I required so I HAD TO update. 170 euro for one night. I've never paid that amount of money in my life before to sleep. The room was dusty and the coffee machine had mold in the filter. Reception sorted it out quickly but it was for me a terrible experience I'm sorry to say. I live in the NL and Van der Valk is very well know and loved there. They could learn from each other, just we all have to do.
Heating in the room was switched off and the room was freezing at the arrival. In the morning we went to have breakfast, arrived but the waitress didn't bother to give us the table, so we waited a bit at the counter but she just wondering around, no greeting or placing guests at the table so we decided to find the table. Unfortunately all were occupied or dirty. After we took a food we searched again, but nothing was free, so we sat at the large table. When we were finishing the food a waiter arrived and started shouting at my husband and taking his cutlery away. He started reprimanding us that we shouldnt have used this table because it was set for lunch. We said that there was no small table free. He continued shouting that it wasn't true and we should have waited to be sited. What we did and nobody cared to come to us. Next to us there was a family also having breakfast on "lunch table" but he decided to shout only at us. My husband mentioned this to the receptionist but she didn't even say sorry or bother to ask what happened. Overpriced place, no radiators in the rooms or restaurant, staff is simply rude or doesn't care. Gentleman who is working as waiter should maybe change the career path if he doesn't like working in hospitality and with people.
I would never go back! Room was definitely not worth the price, including quality of toilet paper, cosmetics, shower, ... the only reasonably decent feature was the bed but again my wife and I travel the world and for the price it was not worth it. Then let's talk about service. We waited at front desk on arrival then made check in with no mention of any special formalities for breakfast... when we were ready to go down for breakfast we took the normal stairs closest to our room to go to down. No signs asking us to wait, no signs for a special breakfast area in the large room full of tables (all set). We still waited as we are generally decent people and have managed catering in the past. However we did not see any signs and there was only one waitress running around. The rude tallish late thirties man with a beard was nowhere to be seen... so we naturally served ourselves as you do with a breakfast buffet and then looked for a table for two. All were taken so we saw a few large tables set already where one group had sat down. Again no signs indicating it was for lunch. Not amazing breakfast and rather loud room. Just when we were finishing our one plate of breakfast, while my wife was complaining quietly to me that it was drafty, this tallish mid thirties bearded man approached from behind. He seized my cutlery and started telling us off for sitting at this table. Instead of answering in outrage I started apologising and tried to understand what was wrong. He then went on to question our comprehension of how a hotel works and complaining that he will need to set the table again for lunch. This was 9:45 in the morning !!! Then at checkout I waited for the receptionist to ask how it went, which never came... only "we don't need anything from you". So I said your breakfast staff was extremelt rude. She shrugged. I very rarely write bad reviews and i am now pissed off I wasted 5 minutes of my life to write this. But hope it will stop other people runing part of their weekend. Life is too short.
