Bottom line is this hotel has gone down hill in the last 2 years. There used to be a door man, and they would have umbrellas waiting in the lobby. Not anymore. The lobby is still nice, and the location can’t be beat but there are a bunch of cheaper hotels within a five minute walk. I have stayed at 3 that are equally nice and cheaper. Bottom line is the Dominican isn’t what it once. It’s vastly more expensive than similar hotels that are very close.

The location can't be beat. It's in the heart of everything with an easy walk to all the sites. The room was comfortable and clean. The bathroom spacious and the water hot. The reception was kind and welcoming (which was a plus after a long morning). We were able to store our bags until the room was ready (which happened in no time at all). There were several people staying in the hotel, but I heard none of them. It was so quiet. The hotel is gorgeous. I would recommend this hotel to everyone.
This was a great location. Within walking distance to Grand Place and many places to eat, drink and be merry! Loved our stay here! The Monk serenade in the elevator is interesting in a good way! It’s just different and vey apropos for the hotel’s name! The front desk is helpful and friendly.
Unfortunately, my experience at this hotel was extremely disappointing, and the issues started from the moment we checked in. At first, we were asked to sign an agreement regarding breakfast, even though we had never requested breakfast and did not want it. Then, we were asked to provide a credit card in case we used any additional services, so they could charge the card for the extra costs. We refused because we didn’t have a physical card with us, only cards on our phones. They then said, “Okay, it’s not necessary.” This made me wonder why we were asked for it in the first place. Then we went up to our room, and the disappointment continued: * There was a visible spider web on the ceiling. * There was no water in the refrigerator, and an empty water bottle was left outside. * There were no tissues in the room at all. * There were no basic personal hygiene amenities in the bathroom — not even a toothbrush. * There was no concierge or staff member available to assist with taking our luggage to the room. These are very basic services and amenities that I expect from a hotel, especially considering the price of the stay. Unfortunately, I would not recommend this hotel at all, and this will definitely be my last stay here. I hope the management takes the cleanliness, room preparation, guest services, and overall service more seriously.
The audio played in the elevator sounded like a church hymn or prayer. I’m not sure exactly what it was, but I don’t think it’s appropriate for a hotel that caters to international tourists. It had a sad and somber tone that didn’t create a pleasant atmosphere. For a Marriott Bonvoy hotel, I believe it would be much better to replace it with soft background music that is more suitable for a hotel environment. The current audio gave me an uncomfortable and negative feeling. Other than that, the service was excellent, the staff were very friendly and helpful, and the hotel’s location was outstanding.
