Walking through Bruges with Hugo felt like taking a stroll with an old friend; one with a wonderful knowledge of history! He brought the city’s past to life in a way that was engaging, relaxed and full of personality. You can tell Hugo has spent his entire career in hospitality. He has a natural way of making people feel welcome and comfortable, and we thoroughly enjoyed our time with him. A wonderful way to experience Bruges. Highly recommended!

A perfectly paced tour loaded with tasty treats, fascinating history and eye-poppingly beautiful architecture. Hugo is a gem and he seamlessly modified the tour to suit our specific interests.
We had a fantastic time with our tour guide, Patrick. We visited numerous local establishments and tasted 2 kinds of waffles, fries, croquette and numerous chocolates. Patrick gave us some history of the region as well.
Don’t eat before your tour! You won’t go hungry. We had a great variety of tasting experiences. Save the beer for last!
We got a taste of the popular foods that Bruge is known for as well as some history!! Patrick did an excellent job and would recommend!
Martin was very friendly and knowledgeable. Took us to some great spots we would have never found on our own. Would definitely recommend him to anyone looking for a tasty introduction to Bruges.
Excellent combination of culture, history, and local food. Martin was very personable and able to adjust to our minor scheduling glitch.
We had a wonderful experience with our food tour guide, Artur, in Bruges! He was friendly, knowledgeable, and made the entire experience so enjoyable. Not only did Artur introduce us to some delicious local food, but he also took the time to show us around the beautiful city of Bruges and shared interesting stories and history along the way. It was the perfect combination of great food, sightseeing, and learning about the city from someone who clearly loves what he does. Artur made us feel welcome and went above and beyond to make our tour memorable. We highly recommend Artur to anyone looking for a fun and authentic was to experience Bruges! THANK YOU, Artur!!
This was a great experience. The guide was super friendly and super knowledgable. We stopped at a fair amount of spots and really got a nice selection of Bruges food. The highlights for me were the Waffles and the Chocolates. The brewery stops were great too, but I drink a lot of beer so I had already hit those up lol. The guide also dropped some great info during our walk about the neighborhoods and the other points of interest we passed as we walked. I would definitely recommend this tour and my whole party agreed.
We had a great time on this tasting tour. Our guide, Martin, did a great job blending the history of the food we were tasting as well as the history of the city and surrounding areas. Hard to say what our favorite tasting was… But I think the chocolate may be the winner for us. Great way to explore the city, learn the history, and eat/drink our way around town. 5 ⭐️
Artur was a great tour guide, informative, friendly and funny! We actually returned to a couple of places that he introduced us to, so well worth it. Really enjoyed our tour
Patrick was flexible, knowledgeable and kind. I highly recommend this tour. What a delight! Show up hungry and be prepared to learn a lot and taste amazing food and beverages that Patrick will ensure fit your palette and dietary restrictions (I don’t eat red meat. Patrick: no problem! How about seafood? Yes, I love it!) As we wandered the streets and little alleyways of Bruges we passed many larger group tours and it made me appreciate even more that my husband and I had our very own local guide. Do yourself a favor and book this NOW!
While Hugo was quite nice and friendly, we didn't think we got the value for the cost of this food tour. We had fries, a waffle, chocolate, one pretzel, some cheese, and sausage-- plus a flight of beers and another stop for beer. The description of the tour included 10 tastings, like seafood. I've done food tours in many places; never has the tour left me wishing for more food.
Very disappointed, it is advertised as The 10 Tastings of Bruges With Locals: Private Food Tour. We only got 5 items 1. A jelly sweet 2. 1/2 a Belgian waffle (we even had to but our own drink) 3. 1/2 a Liege waffle 4. Fries 5. A cherry beer. We were offered samples of chocolate at some locations but these were offered to everyone and to us the following day when we went back, so can not be included within the 10 items. Our guide was knowledge about Bruges but definitely not as advertised or paid for.
Hugo was a great host and guide. He was well informed of local history as well as local fare. You could tell he was proud to share his Belgian history and insights. We shared in local frites, and a flight of fun beers from a local brewery. We viewed the wall of beer with all of the unique glassware. I had shared with Hugo my desire to taste a specific local beer. Hugo modified the tour to make that happen. Perhaps the best part of the tour was to see the affection the various vendors had towards Hugo, which was easy to understand. We enjoyed this tour and our time with our guide.
Terrific in every way, informative and entertaining
Great day in Bruges ! The frites, waffles and chocolate exceeded our expectations….. loved the beer flites too but so much more than food with Hugo…. History, culture, arts, rounded our time to make it a perfect day
My wife and I had a wonderful food and beer tasting tour with Artur, who was very knowledgeable, friendly and patient. We would highly recommend him to anyone interested in learning a lot about Bruges, including its history and cuisine. Brought back some of the best chocolates we've ever had.
Excellent tour! We got to sample great beer, yummy waffles, and excellent chocolates. We also got to learn a lot about Brugge from an amazing guide! Highly recommend this experience
Artur is very friendly and knowledgeable about the food and beer of Bruges and the history of the producers and was a great guide. He has a very good relationship with the places we visited so there was no waiting around for each tasting. Great selection of food and beer representing a very good cross section of what is available in the town.
Had a great tour of the city and many tasty bites/sips on this tour with Artur! A lot of fun and great recommendations. Definitely recommend!
Arthur was wonderful, he carefully selected the best of the best in Bruges! He also gave us so much history as we walked - he was a fantasticl guide to the city and its culinary delights!
Very knowledgeable, entertaining guide who adapted to our interests and abilities. Excellent tour. Martin stands out as one of the best guides that I have had over many years of travelling.
My husband and I had the pleasure of joining a food tour with Patrick, and it was truly a highlight of our trip. From the start, we appreciated his energy and warm personality as he guided us through the city. His passion for both the local cuisine and the history of his hometown really stood out and made the experience even more engaging. It was clear that Patrick is well known and well liked at the places we visited, which added a special, authentic touch to the tour. We especially enjoyed learning about the city’s history, and he was more than happy to answer all of our random questions along the way. I highly recommend spending time with Patrick—his enthusiasm is contagious, and he brings the city’s rich history and food culture to life in a memorable way.
Artur is the best certified tour guide. He gave a wonderful introduction to the city of Bruges and its best sweets and savory treats. That evening Artur joined an elite group of certified tour guides. His young daughter joined him for the graduation. He’s a special man and you will enjoy his tour.
This was a great tour of the city by a Bruges native that provided insight into history, the people, and the food and drink. The chocolate, waffles, fries, beer, cheese, and sausages were a bonus. I highly recommend this private tour.
We had an absolutely amazing time on The 10 Tastings of Bruges With Locals: Private Food Tour. Arthur was incredible—he took us to some of the best spots in the city, guided us right to the front of lines, and made sure we experienced so many delicious tastes of this beautiful village. His knowledge of Bruges’ history added so much depth to the tour, and his passion for the city really showed. We loved every single minute and couldn’t have asked for a better guide. Highly recommend!
Hugo was a wonderful guide with an extensive knowledge of beautiful Bruges, historical and personal including his own memories growing up in this city. We loved every minute walking the cobbled streets, sampling the best of the tastes of Bruges and seeing awesome architecture and historic stories that go all the way back to Rome and bring Bruges alive. A perfect way to begin our time in this charming romantic city!
Martin was very pleasant and we enjoyed our afternoon with him. Looking at what we paid though, we didn’t feel we got value for money at all. There definitely weren’t 10 tastings as as advertised (unless you count each sample of beer on the sampling tray at the brewery!)
Great guide, good tasting and history and amazing stories. Very knowledgeable guide and extremely interesting
We greatly enjoyed this tour. Our guide Arthur was knowledgeable, personable, and well versed in Bruges history.
Overall we enjoyed our tour with Jay, but we were rather disappointed in the food offerings. First of all they listed 10 tastings, and we only had seven, two of which were just beer. Jay was affable, and engaging, but we certainly did not feel like we had a full food/historical tour like we have done in many other cities. While we wouldn’t recommend avoiding this tour, we also cannot recommend going on it.
What a delightful experience all around! Our guide Martin was engaging, kind, personable, knowledgeable, accommodating and all around fabulous. We learned so much during our time with him and tasted the best Belgian treats and sips in town. This was a highlight of our time in Belgium and we can’t recommend Martin or this tour enough!
Wonderful tour with Hugo. The history was great to hear and we enjoyed all the food and drinks. The French fries were delicious!
Good guide with great range of tastings. Flemish stew and waffles were the highlights. Good value too
We had a fabulous day with Artur who was prepared, engaging, very knowledgeable, and fun! He had no problem adapting the tasting to someone in our party with allergies. He also was adept at accommodating the tastings to our preferences. Overall, we had a really great time with Artur on our tour. Highly recommend!
Hugo was a fantastic guide for his hometown. We learned about food, but also about arts and culture and history. This tour was a highlight of our European trip.
It was a very enjoyable time !! The best guide ever!Authur was knowledgeable, kind and so much fun !
Hugo was a fabulous guide. He was tremendously knowledgeable , engaging and informative! This was one of the best tours we’ve ever taken. We fell in love with Bruge! ,
Lace up your best walking shoes, because Jay, our tour guide is going to put them to good use. How do you squeeze the best of Brugee into 4 hours, Jay is your man. Ten food stops from chocolates to fries to waffles and a few things in between. Add a little history and culture of the city and you have this tour. Food was great, Jay was great, the tour was great. Oh, and don't forget the beer!!! There was plenty of it.
This tour exceeded our expectations. Martin opened our eyes to the finer details around Brugge, the history and of course, the local waffles, beer, fries and chocolate on a level only to be found in this beautiful city. We had a great time and felt that we truly got to know Brugge and appreciate why local people love to live here.
Jay is a character to put it mildly, but in the best possible way. His personality totally made the tour. A little bit of history mixed with a lot of food and three pints of beer so come hungry and thirsty. He introduced us to some local classics and some modern options as well. It’s a small area so you never really go that far but you span everything from ice cream to waffles to herring. Just a really fun few hours and listening to Jay’s stories added to the experience. All in all a really great afternoon.
Our tour guide was Artur and he was fantastic! He took us to a few fabulous places, which we ended up revisiting on our own throughout the remainder of our trip. Arthur was super personable, informative and made the tour a lot of fun. He sprinkled in some history and fun facts along the way. If your tour guide is Artur, you’re in for a great time!
Stefan is a nice guide and knows a lot. He is relaxed and doesn't hurry. There is a lot to eat. For us a little bit too much. But we did have a nice breakfast before.
Martin, our guide, was excellent. Not 5 stars because water wasn't brought up until the end, and on hot summer days, it should be discussed right away. Two of us were carrying water so it was only an issue for one person. An option for other things like coffee to carry along would have been nice too. But the tour itself was well executed with tons of information and we enjoyed spending the afternoon with Martin. He also recommended a restaurant for dinner, which we also enjoyed.
a wonderful tour with a very friendly and knowledgeable tour guide. We had a great time and it was well worth it!!
Not sure we got exactly 10 tastings in 3 hours nor could that have been physically possible but our guide Hugo created a lovely tour focused on our interests including much on the history of Bruges and keeping us away from the crowds when he could. We walked around and learned about Bruges before stopping at a local place built in the 1500's and had tapas and the beer brewed there while sitting out in the back courtyard. We ended at the beer wall and tried Hugo's recommendation of a Belgium beer flavored with sour cherries. We also tried waffles and chocolates. Hugo got us a reservation for dinner that night. It was a great way to start our stay in Bruges by spending time with a local who personalized our tour!
Tour guide was a no show. Waited at designated location for 45 minutes. Tried calling and eventually contacted Viator via WhatsApp they also couldn’t get in touch with tour operators. On the plus side Viator provided a quick refund
We had a great time with Jay! He took us to places we never would’ve found and he knew EVERYONE in town. It was Labor Day so it was a big party!
Our guide was good. He knew a lot about the history of Bruges. We have been on several other food tours before. On those tours we received a wide variety of food & drink. Many times alcoholic & non alcoholic options to drink with specific foods. We expected something similar, we did Not have a lot of food. We shared 3 plain waffles, a small order of fries with gravy & mayonnaise, 1 flight of 6 small beers, then we got a free sample of chocolate which we could done by ourselves. When we were sharing our last waffle I was so thirsty I had to ask for some water please which had never been offered. We went to eat dinner especially to get some protein immediately after. We were Very disappointed in this tour especially for the price we were charged.
