The VR experience covers a millenium of history in 8 minutes. Enjoyable, but far too brief. Unfortunately a loud group of kids were seated behind us, and they succeeded in drowning out most of the audio.

What i didn't realise until i go there was the virtual reality and the museum were separate things and needed separate tickets, they were very good there and just charged us the extra we would have paid had we bought a combined ticket with them. The VR experience is very good and explains how Brugges came to being and why so many canals. It's a relatively short presentation, about 15 minutes all told and you just sit and look around you. The VR experiance isn't essential for the museum story, where the myseum is a better buy if your short on time and can only do one thing. Something that's not obvious is that you can get to the first floor bar free of charge which has a fantastic view over the main square and some fantastic beers on tap. The cherry fruit beers a must.
The sale of this product was very misleading. This was only an 8 minute virtual reality tour. The one hour tour was not included.
So far I've had one VR experience in Split, Croatia, which was on a whole other level and comparing this to it was rather disappointing. The story could have been longer and more interesting, and the quality of the movie was very poor (simple graphics, blurry picture, buffering sign between the movie segments). It didn't help that this all takes place in the main hallway, so apart from hearing the sound of the movie, there are all the time voices of numerous visitors in the background, which kills the experience additionally. All in all, I am sorry, but I wouldn't recommend this. Visited the tower, with a nice view of the square - this saved the experience a bit.
Today I did this activity of which my wife and I were both extremely disappointed. Not so much from the presentation but both thought the price of €12,- was hugely too high for 8 minutes of watching images. Would have been a nice intro for the rest of the historical program, but certainly not for €12,-
We really liked the experience. A first part in which you see the history of the city through virtual reality and then we follow to the rest of the exhibition that explains very well all the historical concepts of the evolution of the place.
Short (8minutes) but nice experience. Maybe a little too expensive for what it is, but educational.. Definitely recommended..
If you want to make the history of Bruges known to the boys, without boring them, rather making them participate, this is a must. Nice also for adults Very interesting also the experience in 3 D that I highly recommend. Last entry at 5 p.m.
This virtual reality experience gives you a good insight into the Bruges of the 14th century. Too bad it only took eight minutes. Highly recommended
It was an interesting 3D insight into Bruges' medieval past. Technically it wasn't top-notch but still very good. It's also specifically designed for children who want to learn more about European history without boring them.
I do not understand until now what the fictional story of Ana and a parrot has to do with the city. The view is beautiful, the price is very high, but this story could be taken.
The basic idea of starting with a Van Eyck painting to trace the history of the city is quite original. Now be careful if you expect to see a step by step reconstruction of the city you are far from the count. It is in fact an animation in period costume with synthetic images in background distilled in different rooms arranged in an era according to the parts of the story. Since I expected a full reenactment with explanations about the city I was disappointed. The price of 12 euros is high enough for the 30 minutes of entertainment for the shot.
Short, but sometimes fun to do. Because of the 3D effect you really feel like you are in the story. Definitely do with kids!
We made the museum during the week very very quiet! It was very good! We loved the virtual headset to do imperatively. Visit the museum with its truly enriching history! Gestures barrier and disinfection of material and respect . A little more... the little beer tasted with a wonderful view! 🍻 thank you for this beautiful discovery!
I do not understand why there are so many positive opinions about this activity. The idea is interesting to revive Bruges in the 15th century with this very successful script. It is therefore expected to see reconstructions of squares, markets, taverns, etc. They just tell us a little story without importance, as an excuse to show us some scenes without much interest. You won't learn anything about the city's history. We fled after 15 minutes.
The historic building is located at the market, where the water hall used to be. This was the central shipping warehouse for the emerging trading city. The location has been reconstructed in this landmark and adds an extra dimension to your visit. There is the simple historic tour of Bruges in the Middle Ages; a trip through medieval Bruges in the Golden Ages around the painter Jan van Eyck, wrapped up in a story about his apprentice in love and a red parrot. Also included in the price is the Historium exhibition and a great view from the guest terrace of the market square and Belfry. Adults pay 14.00 €, children (5 - 12 years) 7.50 € and children (0 - 4 years): free However, we booked a small addition that I can highly recommend: The ticket Historium Story + VR (Virtual Reality) for adults: 17,50 € and children (6 - 12 years): 11,00 €, children under 6 are not allowed to participate in VR. Last admission is at 4:30. Historium Story We experienced a wonderful love story as we walked through seven historic themed rooms with decor, film and special effects. With a German audio guide we heard all about the Golden Age of Bruges and imagined plastically what it was like in the time of Jan van Eyck. It tells the exciting love story of Jan van Eyck's student Jacob to a portrait model. Virtual reality While we can look into the sea from the mast of a medieval ship, take a flight through the marketplace and experience a virtual time travel in the VR cabins of the historic building! As we sailed through the ancient canals of 1435 by barge, we looked at the now vanished Water Hall and St. Donatian's Cathedral and could use our visual hands. A few more euros worth it! The newest additions are mentioned as a possible activity, but have not been experienced by us and thus cannot be evaluated: The Historium Tower is a tower connected to the historic building where the Historium is located. The tower has 145 steps that lead you to a 26-meter-high lookout. Price € 7.00! The laboratory is located in the halls in the inner courtyard of the historic building. In the laboratory, a game and innovation laboratory for virtual reality.
Very interesting to discover the history of the city! Very well done! Too bad it's a little short! I recommend!
