This was a fantastic tour with Omar. He was very knowledgeable and witty ( he made my two teenagers laugh!). It was lovely to see and learn about this part of Bruges. We will go back today to a few of the sites we visited last night to explore more. I highly recommend Omar and this tour.

Itinerary
We take you on a tour of the lesser known parts of Bruges, the side tourists never get to see. We'll tell you old tales, legends and ghost stories that are as old as the city itself, and we'll make the fascinating history of Bruges come to life!
We start the tour on the main square with a historical introduction of Bruges.
Here we'll tell you the history of the beautiful Jan van Eyck square, the old harbour of medieval Bruges!
On this square, where all the Italian trading houses used to be located, you can see one of the first stock exchange markets of the world, dating back to the 13th century
Hear the interesting story of how the picturesque Golden Hand Canal got its name. It includes the devil, tragedy and a substantial dose of superstition.
Take a look at the oldest bar in Bruges and Belgium, where people have come to drink beer since 1515!
Find out the fascinating legendary story of this iconic church, which was built as a copy of the Church of the Holy Sepulchre in Jerusalem.
Take a snapshot of the majestic mills on the outskirts of the city and marvel at one of the remaining medieval city gates.
We end the tour at the Bauhaus in Bruges with a ticket for a complementary beer (buy 1 drink, get 1 free beer) at the bar!

Omar was a local guide , friendly knowledgeable about the area and shared some good tips. Good pace . Just be aware that the tour finishes about 15/20 mins away from the pick up point. It wasn’t a problem for us, just make sure you have maps to find your way back.
Thomas was fantastic! Very knowledgable and an engaging storyteller! We had fun and learned a thing or two about this beautiful town. Highly recommend!
Nice quiet walk around Brugge without all the tourist traffic. The city is gorgeous at night, so very picturesque. Interesting sights and stories about the with. Very fun.
We had a lovely night time tour of Bruges, the tour was full of history, interesting facts, humour and some ghost stories all told by our lovely guide Hilda. Highly recommend the tour.
Great tour with a knowledgeable and funny guide Louis. Highly recommended
Thomas was very informative and had a little dark humor that helped with the message. Loved it. I would definitely make it mandatory to bring an Umbrella. Clearly, we didn’t. lol.
Our guide was so nice and knowledgeable. He also gave us excellent recommendations for restaurants and other sights to see.
We came to Bruges for my mam’s 70th birthday and after going to the witchcraft museum decided we wanted to see if Bruges had a ghost walking tour. We found The Darkside of Bruges tour and our guide, Martin, did not disappoint. He has an amazing, captivating way of storytelling as well as being very kind and funny. We found out so much more about the area as well as some spooky stories to take home. Bruges is also beautiful at night and is a great way to take in the scenery and get some nice photos. Would definitely recommend this tour and thank you to Martin to making our short time here memorable!
This was a good tour. Patrick was an excellent guide and was very entertaining. We learned a lot and had some laughs too
Wonderful tour with lots of fun stories. Martin was very kind. I liked the stories about witches! Bruges is very interesting. Thank you!
A wonderful medieval evening of storytelling.
This was a great tour that takes you off the beaten path, with lots of interesting stories and history. Martin is a great storyteller, and kept us amused the entire time. It was especially nice to escape the crowds and go on streets that most people don't know about, while learning about Bruge and some fascinating history.
I was lucky enough to have Martin as my tour guide for this tour and a tasting tour back in August and it was a highlight of my time in Bruges. He shared with us his knowledge of the city and brought a lot of character to the tours. I loved learning about the small details around Bruges on the buildings, that you may have missed without a tour. I definitely recommend this company and experience to anyone travelling to Bruges.
Martin was entertaining and informative. Lots of interesting stories about Bruges.
It's definitely a fun tour to do at the start of your trip the streets aren't too crowded and you learn about a couple places to visit during the day just remember to bring a jacket and to eat beforehand
Good tour but we were expecting to visit a bar at the end which didn't happen
Very nice evening walk if the weather allows. Bruges is very empty at these hours, creating a unique atmosphere.
Informative and entertaining! Thank you Maarten
Nunca ce interesting & thanks to local guide Maarten, very entertaining tour.
Martin (long hair) was an great guide. Informative and funny with a friendly manner. We saw parts of the city we wouldn't have other wise. My two teenage kids loved it
We booked the Dark side of Bruges tour in the evening. The tour guide Martin was very polite and funny person. He explained everything about the dark histories of Bruges and it was very much interesting, and also he showed us some spooky places and explained the story behind it. It was raining and a perfect evening for some really dark and spooky stories from Martin. I went with my girlfriend and we both enjoyed very much.
Interesting facts & stories.
The tour was great with all the legends and explanations from the guide
Hilda was a very knowledgeable and interesting guide. Well worth it.
Hilde was a knowledgeable guide with a great sense of humor. Tour was definitely one of the highlights of our visit.
Really informative with lots of local facts and history. Nice to walk around and find out more about the area. Great guide who was really knowledgeable and was great at interacting with everyone.
It was a little boring, to be honest-- and had to climb through construction on the street that could have been avoided. Probably just the guide we had...
The walking tour of Bruges was excellent, took us to places in the city we wouldn’t otherwise have gone to and we learnt many cool things about its history. Our guide, Martin, was brilliant, very informative, and personable.
The begining of the tor was very easy to find. Throughout the tour, our tour guide Louis was very funny and was an excellent story teller. The tour took us to some very interesting parts of the city and I was a very positive experience!
Fun way to orient ourselves to Brugge! We booked this when we arrived in town and it was fun as well as helpful to find our way around town.
Astrid was an excellent guide. Her knowledge of Bruges and ability to translate it into stories is both informative and very entertaining. We had a great time.
Nice walk, very entertaining
This was our second tour with Legends Free Walking Tour and it was such fun. Martin, our "spooky" tour guide was great fun and did a great job at showing us the dark side of Bruges. Unfortunately, it would have even been more fun if the sun set earlier for it to truly be an evening tour but that in no way makes it less of the "dark side" of Bruges. The tour wasn't too long, 1.5 hours long and Martin showed us a nice variety of the city's medieval, gothic and creepy side. It's best for anyone looking for a new angle on tours, not just history of the city but it's presented to you in a fun "stay on your toes" way. The tour is generally a free walking tour apart form the small amount you pay to the platform you booked through, but it also works on a "tips" basis. The tour, either way, was so fun and Martin was extremely engaging it was definitely worth every penny.
The Dark Side of Bruges walking tour was excellent and one of the highlights of our visit! My granddaughter & I loved it. When we met in the town square, our guide explained that because it doesn't get dark until around 10:00–10:30 p.m. during this time of year, the tour would be a little different than the traditional "Dark Side" experience. It actually made for a wonderful evening of exploring the city. Our guide was exceptional. His knowledge of Bruges' history, legends, and fascinating stories kept us engaged from beginning to end. He led us down charming, narrow streets and hidden alleyways that most visitors—and even many other tours—never see. One of my favorite parts was seeing the original wooden houses and learning how homeowners carefully restore and preserve them according to their original historical designs. We learned so much about the city's history and architecture while enjoying a unique perspective of Bruges. I highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting Bruges. It's informative, entertaining, and a great way to discover parts of the city that many visitors miss.
Fun way to spend a bruges evening. Martin the german guide with impeccable english with an aussie accent was excellent. Appropriate humour and extra knowledge as we walked between locations and encouraged interaction, or let you hide at the back!. Covered stuff not done in day/boat tours. Well worth the tip.
Hilda a local in Bruges was our guide. Very knowledgeable funny and informative. Our tour was about 2 hours at 8 pm so the streets were quieter. She showed us a section of Bruges that was less touristy.
Our guide was very knowledgable and shared interesting facts. She built a good rapport with the group, especially with the children. The tour was supposed to end near a beer pub, but didn`t because there was loud music in the square. It would have been even better if we just walked there and the pub was pointed out. No worries though, good tour all in all.
Astrid our guide was brilliant. She gave us lots of information, history and myths/legends along with a sense of humour. Don’t forget to bring cash for a tip.
I took a tour of Bruges in the evening of July 5th. I did the dark side of Bruges in English. My tour guide Bram had been local to the area and had a lot of information. He was pleasant, kind, animated, and showed our group a lot! I’m very happy to have found these tours. Bram was great and the experience was great! There were some little quirky things we learned along the way that I’ll remember forever.
Louis was great. Quite informative. It wasn't just another tour telling about the beauty but also about the dark side and old legends. Very interesting
We’ve really enjoyed The Legends Tours. This was our first nighttime one and we loved it. It was fun learning about a different side of Brugge and our tour guide Martin was funny, informative and got everyone involved! It was the perfect length of time!
Louis gave us a grate tour, with really nice facts even when i tough him that potato fries are actually from chile. Very nice experience i recomend it
We thoroughly enjoyed ‘The Dark Side of Bruges’ evening tour with our guide Tom. Tom was incredibly knowledgeable about Bruges history and provided a very entertaining account of some of the more sinister goings ons back in those medieval times. We enjoyed the tour immensely.
Excellent tour! Guide was very entertaining. Provided funny & informative stories with relevant history & insights. Locations visited were interesting. We returned to Monk afterwards for a delicious Trappist beer!
Our guide was fantastic and I would say don’t visit Brugge without having a tour like this because there is so much to learn!
This was the best tour I've done in a long tour. The guide Thomas was amazing and really entertaining! We learnt loads of history with this tour and also about the ghosts which we loved! I would thoroughly recommend going to one of these. It was minimal to book but then you leave the guide a donation, we gave lots more than we'd had in mind at the start as it was way above our expectations!
Very different and interesting tour. Our guide Thomas was very charismatic and funny, turned the tour into an interactive storytelling experience featuring fun and intriguing tales about Bruges. Really loved it:)
Martin was our tour guide. Very liberal views and let you know about it. Anti Catholic Church, anti Trump and conservatives, anti wealthy. Knowledge was great, stories were great, would do well to leave the political stuff out.
Gilda. A former teacher, was lovely and so enjoyable to listen to. She had wonderful stories that brought the tour to life
