I really wanted to like this, but it was very disappointing. You’re given a headset and a heavy iPad and spend much of the experience scanning different images to trigger content. The app is clunky, requires far too much clicking and there’s no clear narrative or logical flow. The biggest disappointment was the beer itself. As someone who drinks a lot of Belgian beer, the selection was surprisingly bland and poor quality. It certainly didn’t showcase what makes Belgian beer special. The supposedly good-value prices at the bar are also for just 15cl servings, rather than 33cl, which I felt should have been made much clearer. Staff were fine but seemed fairly disengaged, and the place was very quiet. It has the potential to be a fantastic celebration of Belgian beer, but unfortunately it feels more like a tourist trap. 2/5. I wouldn’t recommend it.

I was disappointed that the monastery tour with beer tasting wasn't offered for our cruise. That said, the crew here did a great job and we had a blast and learned something! I think we all decided that we like Belgium beer! It seemed short, but I guess that is better than feeling like it dragged on! But plenty of time with each beer and we had time to purchase more, and we did! Great old world fee being on the square and in an historic building. Our group was only 20 and there was another group of 20, which was just about perfect. It was a hot day and temp inside was perfect. If you like beer and have not looked at what makes a Belgium beer different, this is the perfect stop!
We had their beer chocolate pairing and I loved it. You can buy tokens and use them at your leisure. We went there two afternoons in a row.
It was good, it did not include a tasting and that was an extra charge. We did the Brussels tour and it had an amazing rooftop patio and 2 beers to taste.
Good fun for a couple of hours. Interesting interactive museum with fun beer tasting in bar overlooking square
With Belgian beers growing in popularity this is a great way to learn more about them. You get to learn more via the interactive iPads through which you can answer questions and hear facts and history whilst wandering around the building. After that you can sit in the bar area and try out three of the huge range of beers on offer. It’s a great way to spend some time in Bruges and possibly come away with a taste for a fruity beer!
We went and it was ok . You get head set and walk around with ipad. My husband enjoyed the quiz . But it was alot of history about Beer . You need to be really intetested . At end you get Beer tasting if you paid for it . Plus a photo if you want it . Only went because i saw it on You tube and it looked fun . But now i wish id hadnt told my husband .
It was very informative about the history of beer, the bar staff were very helpful with the choices of tasters i should have
Informational musuem with superb insights although could easily be printed rather than using scanner, tablets and headphones. Could spend 90mins in there and the €14 and €20 tickets were worth it. Would recommend getting the 3 beer tasting ticket for the full experience. Unsuitable for under 18s as there are no soft drink or non-alc options at the bar, although we were previously told there were. Overall 3.5 out of 5 stars.
Our party of four went on this on our last full day in Bruges. Spread over two floors, the top floor exhibition was okay, nothing special and the use of iPads and over-ear headphones would have been better/easier if there were simple signage explaining the exhibits. On the next floor down, three of the four sets of iPads stopped working, and only one of our party knew what tall of the displays were about. At the end of the tour we complained but we were told that this does happen between floors sometimes and we could have replacement iPads and start again. We did not! Don't waste your money.
Great museum with self-paced audio tour. They did a great job explaining the history and cultural aspects beer with lots of whimsical and fun facts. I highly recommend you include the beer tasting at the end - nice cap to the visit!
The beer experience was full of lots of information and takes a good few hours to fully take it all in. We chose the option with beers at the end which was great to try a variety of flavours that we wouldn’t have usually tried. We also purchased some more beers as they were so good! Definitely recommend doing this.
We don’t normally do the listening tours but really enjoyed learning about the origins of beer making and the various methods of brewing to give the variety of Belgium beers. Fully interactive, fun quizzes and a sensory experience ending in the bar for a tasting. Also a nice alternative story for the kids to follow.
A great interactive experience which shared lots of history in a friendly and inviting environment with some beer tasting at the end. Lots of great memorabilia and photographs to explore around the museum.
This is not a ticket for the Bruges beer experience as it states in the title of the ad. It only allows you entrance to the beer museum. Complete false advertising. The actual beer experience is another separate charge. So buyer beware
Really good and informative experience. Audio/Visual experience with a headset and tablet. Interactive functions with excellent informational tutorials on the history of beers, the production process and topped off with a tasting experience on the lower level. The staff are excellent and helpful.
Just off the market, the museum and bar is set in a lovely building, although most of Bruges has fantastic buildings! There are a lot of stairs to go up on the course of the visit. You are given a tablet and headphones as it's self guided. Point the camera at some of exhibits and you get a video explaining the exhibit or asking questions. At the end of the tour you finish in the bar. You ticket will allow you 3 beers from the array of taps. You can buy beers too.
If you're a beer enthusiast or simply curious about Belgian beer culture, Bruges is the place to be. My experience was both fascinating and enjoyable, offering a perfect blend of history, craftsmanship, and, of course, exceptional brews. I explored some of the city's well-known breweries and quaint beer cafes. The selection of beers is astounding, from fruity lambics and refreshing witbiers to robust Trappist ales and local specialties unique to Bruges. Each beer came with its own story, making the tasting experience not just about flavors but also about appreciating the art of brewing. The Bruges Beer Museum added an educational twist to the journey, providing insights into brewing techniques and the cultural significance of beer in Belgium. And for a truly authentic moment, sipping a local Brugse Zot while overlooking the canals was unforgettable. Whether you're a connoisseur or a casual drinker, Bruges offers something for everyone. The warm hospitality, paired with the rich beer culture, makes it a must-visit destination
Had a great visit and is very interesting. Staff are friendly and helpful and the beer tasting afterwards was great. However, although I am a family orientated person, our visit was kind of spoilt by people letting their children run round and generally cause a nuisance. Shame as is a great place!
I wouldn’t recommend this for teenagers, or anyone who doesn’t have a huge interest in beer. I had expected the museum to include more of a history of beer related to Bruges, but it had very little about this. The information on the interactive guide was long winded and not engaging. It also wasn’t obvious which pictures were interactive, especially as they were slow to load. All these factors lead us to give up on the guide towards the end. The rooms were very hot and stuffy, and smelt of stale beer. I definitely wouldn’t recommend going on an hot day. Even my husband, who is a beer fanatic, found it disappointing.
If you love beer or are even just curious about it, I highly recommend visiting the Beer Museum. You won't be disappointed. Bar Staff very helpful 👌
Learned so much about beers! This was also a highly interactive museum. Very different from any I’ve been to. Definitely opt in for the beer tasting at the end too. It’s delicious and you get a great view of the main square.
Very informative tour around different rooms with interactive scanner and audio. Takes you through the entire brewing process and explains the different types of beers, there is a fun quiz you can participate with along the way. Opted for the beer tasting at the end of the tour and you can choose to taste 3 different bees from a variety on offer.
A lot information interesting, contact with Malta seeds and hoops were Nice. And the bar and beers were so good.
This is a “must” when visiting Bruges. The experience is very interesting and informative and the range of beers is brilliant - enough to suit anyone’s tastes. It is also very modestly priced. My preference was the Rodenbach Fruitage which was lower in alcohol and high in taste 👍
The history portion of the experience was very educational. Liked taking the quiz along the way. The beer wall was super cool and Insta worthy 👍. Problem occurred in the tasting hall. Going to the bar with the 3 tokens and waiting patiently to be waited on was very frustrating. Was it because I was a woman? An American? Older? Watched as man, after man, after man was waited on, purposely avoiding eye contact and looking away. As soon as my daughter walked up to see what was taking so long, things changed, looked our way and we were able to receive the drinks. Put a nasty spin on the whole experience as this person chose to be unkind. Tried to shake it off but still remains a black mark on Brugge and the Beer experience. Thank you
The museum is led by ipads and earphones this means there is no interaction with those you went with. We didn't find the experience engaging at all. However the beer tasting at the end saved the day. We enjoyed tasting a variety of beers in a nice comfortable and clean bar.
A great experience. The museum is very well laid out, informative, and the interactive approach means you're free to explore as much ir as little as you choose. We both thoroughly enjoyed learning about the local connection to the beer around Bruges and the great selection of beers in the bar. Very knowledgeable bar staff who seem to take a lot of pride in the product they serve. Highly recommended for a couple of hours in your day.
We were a group of 6 adults with 4 kids under 5 years. The woman at the ticketing counter was very offensive just cz two of the 3 year olds tried to run inside and was telling us we can't all go in together unless we can guarantee kids will be silent. She was hell bent on not selling us tickets trying to discourage us going in and when she found we had prebooked tickets she rolled her eyes and said "oh great they already have tickets" to the others in queue. Pls have a more pleasant and understanding person at your ticketing counter. If the website allows free entry for kids under 5 that means kids are allowed and there's a way to request to try to keep kids as silent as possible not act like Hitler and say we MUST keep kids silent and if we think we can't we'd have to take turns going in. Crazy woman who ruined the experience for us. I would never recommend this place for anybody with kids. Visited on 12th Aug, 3pm
What better way to spend a couple of hours in a very rainy Bruges! The quiz soon became quite competitive. We loved the menus on the bottles and the beer tokens! We at least waited until just after noon (ok 1201) before our first beer!
We came in late as tours end at five but we’d seen it closes at 6:30. Adonai was awesome and made sure we could still get our beers. Amazing window views and loved the atmosphere. Thanks Adonai!
We enjoyed this museum. Learned a lot, enjoyed the quirky quizzes along the way. The bar was also a great atmosphere, great location.
Had a great time learning about Belgian beer via the iPad, and then enjoyed tasting beers I probably wouldn’t normally order, food fun, can be done in an hour
Good way to spend an hour or two. Very informative and some interesting artefacts. The room full of all different beer bottles is really eye-catching. Three free drinks at the end as well with some good options.
Overall this was excellent. After climbing what seemed like a lot of stairs the friendly girl at reception handed over an iPad and ticket to replace my advance purchased online tickets and said to point at things for information and to hang onto the ticket for the beer tasting later. Really good for a beer buff who thinks they know a lot about beer production as myself and my boyfriend did really badly at the 20 question quiz! The bar at the end was our favourite light and airy really good value and we would return just for the bar. I can't drink beer but they had a gluten free beer which they exchanged for our tokens so I didn't miss out. We may have had quite a few beers!
I have to say, I never paid as much attention to an audio tour as to this one. It was very interesting and interactive. The place was well kept and staff was friendly. Would not say it is a must-do, but we had a good time!
The museum was so interactive and informative. The bar at the end was wonderful too. It was a lot of fun.
Interesting little place, you can learn about the history of beer, it is an interactive museum where you are given a tablet which you point at the exhibits and you can either listen or read about them (we chose to read as the speaking was really slow) there is also a quiz you can do on the way around. We recommend getting the tasting add on so you get 3 taster beers at the end in the bar. Great way to spend a couple of hours, especially if the weather is not great.
If you want a whistle stop tour of the history of beer and the ins and outs of brewing then look no further. It does not take itself too seriously but still manages to remain informative and worth the entry fee. All of the exhibits are viewed/listened to via a tablet you carry around with you. Upgrade your ticket and you get 3 beers at the end in their own bar. You can stay for longer and order more jf you wish! I certainly enjoyed it and would say it's worth a couple of hours of your time.
In a great location, overlooking the market square this museum was a handy thing to visit on a very wet day. The exhibition is information and issuing mini iPads is a nice tough. The highlight is visiting the bar and sampling the beer, which is very well handled
Very well organized sound tour. However it was boring more than expected. At the end, tasting 3 beers is a must, and was very interesting
It’s small, it’s quirky, it may be more for American tourists but it’s good and it’s got a lot of facts and stuff on beer. Tour takes about one hour. We got the 3 beers as well from their bar which is good value and some great beers on tap.
If you want to know the real detail of beer making this is the place for you. Super comprehensive and a good digital experience on the iPads.
Quite enjoyed our visit to the "Beer experience" - plenty of interesting information, presented in an engaging way. The highlight of course - the tasting at the end...
I wasn't sure what to expect. Was an interesting, self-guided tour. They provide a tablet and you walk through the museum pointing at information. You can either read or listen to the information. There are also 20 quiz questions. FYI you can keep pointing at the same quiz button and you will get all the questions one by one. You don't have to hit different pictures. I enjoyed learning about the whole brewing process, history of beers, information on medical, women, food parings and much more. I did purchase the beer tasting at the end. You get to sit at the bar and enjoy the view (people and the Markt square). Would recommend this if you want to learn more about beer. You can listen/read as much or little as you choose.
Don’t waste your money on this trap tourist place ! Is like someone’s out couple old piece, and cover this with a ticket to sell you the beer sample . Nothing there You will spend 15 minutes to see not much and even more learning nothing. This place is there to sell you beer and take your money ! Waste of time and money
The museum is located in a typical Bruges building! The entrance is a staircase whose walls are decorated with advertising posters (a world tour in 80 beers). The tour is available in all languages and is interactive! So don't hesitate any longer, visit!!
Beer experience is well worth a visit. Tells you about the history of of the making of beer the staff at the end of the tour wete knowledgeable about the beers they were serving
I cannot begin to tell you have much we enjoy the Bruges Beer experience. For £18 with tastings you cannot beat this price. The interactiveness of the experience is very unique and they have an interactive section for children as well. Well done exhibit and very informational, we needed more than an hour just for the exhibit if you wanted to see everything. Tasting room is beautiful over looking the market square. Beer tenders very informative and we loved all 6 tasting we had. Small gift shop and small area/tastings available for purchase. Thank you for the help to our beertender.
Fantastic museum giving the background on beer making. Interactive system with iPads and headphones. At the end you have the option to have some 150ml samples of beer - the guys behind the counter will guide your way with each beer, we all had a great time.
