Itinerary
Here we start. Here also started the history of Bruges.
The Market with its Belfry, water halls, cloth halls, and its medieval buildings.
The Belfry's origin and its current problems, along with the wealth of the cloth halls
Bruges in the First and Second World Wars, as well as the independence of Belgium.
The Gothic gate of Gruuthuse, as well as the companies that offer tours on the canals.
The Gruuthuse Museum and the beer story. We are standing in the courtyard of this beautiful Gothic castle and hearing how the resident became wealthy with Gruut. and why we were forced to switch from Gruut to hops.
The church of Bruges with the Pietà and other priceless artworks.
How medicine in the Middle Ages led to the creation of pralines.
By the water, we take our photo with the beautiful medieval backdrop as our setting.
The picturesque Walplein with the famous brewery that has a pipeline under the city.
The red light district of Bruges... in the Middle Ages. The smallest street in Bruges, yet one that gave rise to many customs. The darker side of the swans is also revealed here.
Everything you want regarding chocolate, waffles and fries. But also the plague and the dark days of Bruges.
The Bonifacius Bridge. The ultimate bridge of love, but one with some 'dubious' sides. The most picturesque spot in Bruges. In the Medieval gardens of Bruges.
The Groeningemuseum, where Jan van Eyck, Hans Memling, Hugo van der Goes, Gerard David, and many other Flemish Primitives are immortalized. World-renowned 15th-century paintings, each with their own story.
The Dijver. The oldest port of Bruges. Where the Vikings loaded all their loot to transport to Scandinavia. But also offering a beautiful view of one of the most famous terraces in Bruges.
The photo spot of Bruges. Incredibly beautiful. This is where you can take THE photo of Bruges, capturing the Belfry, the Church of Our Lady, all in one shot. Along with the hotel from which Colin Farrell jumped out of a window in the film 'In Bruges'.
Here, stories come to life about the tanners of the Middle Ages. Probably the most foul-smelling job ever. Once the dirtiest and most unhygienic square in Bruges. Today, it's the spot to satisfy your hunger and thirst.
Two fish markets... for two types of people, or so they thought. The entrance to the central square of Bruges, where Gothic, Renaissance, and Classicist styles blend together. A feast for the eyes, even if you're not an architecture enthusiast.
The town hall, the blood chapel, the courthouse... all styles united on the Burg with some strong true stories as a conclusion.

Had a fantastic morning with Peter guiding us around Bruges tasted chocolate and had a canal cruise learned so much because of Peter’s enthusiasm and knowledge!
My friend and I loved the tour with Peter. Peter had the right balance of fun and education and paced the tour really well. We indeed had some choccy samples along the way and heard some fantastic stories including the origin of certain sayings (book out soon!). Book with confidence you will not be disappointed and will learn and see a lot, esp the small stuff that you could easily overlook. I loved the total service with follow up email and group photo and personal recommendations all on website and QR
Great tour. Peter and really interesting and informative. We got to see things we would have never found on our own - plus we got a couple of piece of chocolate to try! Perfect! Would definitely recommend
Peter was knowledgeable, organised and fun. I learnt so much about the history of Bruges - the photos and diagrams he stowed us really added to our experience
Our Bruges tour with Peter from Quality Tours was a highlight of our visit. He was knowledgeable, funny, engaging, and full of great stories that really brought Bruges to life. The tour never felt rushed or overly “ touristy “. - just interesting, relaxed and thoroughly enjoyable. Peter is the kind of guide who turns a good tour into a great one. Highly recommend- ask for Peter if you can!
Peter was a terrific guide. He shared very funny stories to make the tour interesting. He was very knowledgeable about the city Highly recommend.
Fantastic tour with guide Peter, who was very knowledgeable about Bruges. He had a great sense of humour and we highly recommend the experience.
We had unforgettable two hours tour. The city is beautiful and with such a knowledgeable, fantastic guide we learned so many interesting facts about Bruges, tasted chocolate, took photos and heard a lot of stories. We highly recomend Peter as a professional tour guide and hope to meet him again one day.
Peter is an excellent tour guide. He knows Bruges inside and out being a local. He showed and told us a side of Bruges we would not have discovered on our own. Loved his antidotes. Highly recommend
Peter was very entertaining and made the tour very interesting and an excellent way to see Bruges
We had a fantastic tour of Bruges with Peter. Despite rain that tried to dampen the mood, we spent a wonderful two hours learning about this amazing city with lots of entertaining stories and historical insights. Peter is a terrific guide- he was open to all our questions, and paced the tour beautifully. We went the afternoon we got to town, but this would be a great tour at any time in your visit!
Loved this tour. Our guide was so knowledgeable and shared so much history from this lovely city. I highly recommend taking this tour.
Peter was an exceptional guide. Very witty sense of humour and a fine gentleman. Had the group in laughter quite a few times during the excursion. He was very knowledgable about local history, attractions and many more local places like cafe’s, restaurants and general locations. If you are buying Belgium chocolate and want genuine fine quality, always look out for the made in Bruges Seal sign by the shop window or wall. I have included this in my photos for easy reference. Don’t fall into the tourist trap of getting cheap chocolate mixed with palm oils from shops claiming to sell good quality Belgium chocolate. I later joined a canal boat tour which can be booked as part of the Historical walk. Definitely highly recommended. Bruges is a very beautiful city. Throughly enjoyed the entire tour.
This was a great tour filled with history and a great mix of information. Peter is quite knowledgeable and very entertaining! This was an easy walk with many stops, not strenuous at all.
We probably did 6 “free” walking tours while on this trip in Europe, but this was by far the best one. Peter was our guide. He was passionate about his city, very easy to understand and very knowledgeable and humorous. I would highly recommend.
Very interesting, the 2 hours went really fast! Nice chap, made the tour interesting and factual with out being boring.
The tour was good. I would have understood more if the explanations had been slower paced. Sometimes it was hard to understand the guide, especially for people who speak English as a second language.
Peter was an amazing tour guide with great stories, energy, and fun stops with the best goodies along the way. The tour was very interesting and informative. And Peter’s tips for shopping, eating, and adventures were wonderful. We had a little trouble booking through TripAdvisor. So most of other excursions were booked through Viator with no problems. Our group was English speaking with people from all over the world. Peter is patient, clear, and a fantastic steward of Bruges. We adored our time with him!
We had a great time and we’re vastly entertained by our guide, Peter was very informative and add a lot of humor to the experience. The tour was definitely worth it.
Fantastic tour of Beautiful Bruges with Peter. On a day of perfect weather, Peter was enthusiastic about his home city, full of interesting historical facts, comedy and his famous explanations of where British phrases originated from! Thanks again Peter!
Tom was an excellent guide from the minute I had to contact him, as Oostende trains were out of action and I thought we would be late He was very knowledgeable and had interesting and amusing stories to tell Tom stuck to time, and endeavoured to keep us in shade on this very hot day We even had a delicious Belgian chocolate! Thank you so much If I had one suggestion it would be too try to incorporate a couple of rest stops but we all managed Thank you so much
Peter was an incredible guide. He was very knowledgeable and helpful. Also the card with the QR code had some very helpful suggestions.
We, family of 12., had an amazing tour. The tour was fun, educational, entertaining and inclusive for all ages (13-80 y) . Thank you Dirk for the great tour. It was all what I hoped it would be. Oh and thanks for the super light calorie pralines (😜).
Peter is extremely knowledgeable and great fun to listen to! Highly recommended!
I had read many reviews that this tour was amazing. Unfortunately I broke my ankle and was unable to attend. I forgot to cancel and he actually called me at the meeting time to check to see if I was on my way. This is a level of service unheard of in the US. It speaks to the person he is and the type of company he runs! If I make it back in the future I would definitely book a tour with them!!!
Peter was a fantastic guide. He did an excellent job sharing stories and information about the town. The tour was well paced, we saw a lot and the time passed by very quickly.
Peter was a great guide. Knew the history of Brugge and gave some great tips on the best place for a beer, lunch and which boat trip to take. Kept things fun and on time
Really interesting and great for a first walk around the city. Peter had a good sense of humour too. No details on the booking information of where to meet the tour - it was the market square.
Peter was really great. Very friendly, lots of energy and informative. Would definitely recommend. Thanks Peter!
Peter, our guide was very knowledgeable about Bruges. We not only learned about the prominent buildings but many other gems hidden amongst the fries and waffle shops. Peter was very entertaining. The tour was a lot of fun and informative. He gave us many suggestions for restaurants and shops that were more authentic.
Our guide was excellent. Great storyteller and extensive knowledge of history. Tour covered lots of the city. Tour guide gave excellent recommendations for restaurants, etc.
Our guide Peter was fantastic. So knowledgeable and he was incredibly funny too. We learned so much and had a fun time too. He made lots of recommendations for places to eat and drink as he'd grown up in Bruges. Highly recommend!
Our guide Peter, (sorry, I'm not sure of the correct spelling) was great, really interesting and entertaining, and the card he gave each of us with a QR code that gave recommendations of places to eat, drink and visit was so helpful. The tour is well worth doing
The tour was amazing and very insightful. Our tour guide Peter was incredibly knowledgeable on the history of Bruges and did so with humor. This is a tour we would definitely take again or recommend to anyone who asked.
Peter was an excellent tour guide - great command of English, funny, knowledgeable and entertaining - he made the tour very interesting and unique. No headsets or microphones required and Peter answered any questions with good humour. A great 2-hour tour which gave us a good insight into the hisory of Bruges. Naturally you are expected to provide a decent tip and it was well worth it. Recommended.
Peter was a great guide! He showed us all the highlights and gave us a history and word origin lessons. He even got us chocolates (which we loved). Would definitely recommend doing a tour with him while in Bruges.
The tour was very entertaining. I usually think a historical tour would just be informative and as usual a matter of just facts. This tour made sure that the history of Brugge was told in a hilarious, fun way. We would highly recommend it.
Totally worth it—I enjoyed every minute of the walk. The guide was both knowledgeable and engaging. Even though I’ve been to Brugge twice before, this experience gave me a much deeper understanding of the city.
If you value historical information with a little humor mixed in, this tour is for you. Peter is awesome.
Peter was the most brilliant guide and gave a full two hour highly entertaining historical account of Brugge. I thoroughly recommend you take this tour.
2 hours of interesting history in Bruges walking around at a leisurely pace and fuelled by a delicious chocolate. Set us up nicely for deciding what else we would do while here! Thank you.
Peter is a friendly and informative guide, giving the right amount of information, so you don’t feel overloaded He also has a wonderful sense of humour, which helps you remember even more, about this beautiful city
Peter is an excellent guide with a great sense of humor! Very well informed and with a good flow of the tour!
Peter has so much knowledge about Bruges! You can tell he is passion about where he lives and about his tours. During the tour you visit all the main historic sites and even try some chocolate. I had a great time and I recommend you book this tour when you visit.
Peter not only knows what he is talking about but fills the historical facts with extremely interesting stories and anecdotes! I have been on many city tours in my life not not many this memorable. Many thanks Peter and hopefully will see you again someday for another one 🙏
We had a great afternoon with Peter our guide. He had excellent knowledge of the sights and history of Brugge and shared the various insights with humour. The tour was both informative and entertaining and I would highly recommend taking the tour as there is so much to learn.
Last weekend we joined a walking tour in Bruges with Peter as our guide. We were a group of 12 people with different nationalities. The tour through Bruges takes about two hours and during the walk you get a lot of information about the history of the city, interesting facts and nice stories. And I mention Peter by name on purpose, because he is an incredibly enthusiastic guide. His English is flawless so everyone can understand him. At least if you can keep up with Peter, because he talks a lot, a lot. His enthusiasm and jokes are contagious and make the tour really enjoyable. We also discovered several beautiful spots in Bruges that you might otherwise just walk past. At the end of the tour you receive a list of Secret Spots. These are great tips for places to eat, have a drink or find nice shops. All the hotspots are listed there. Personally I would have appreciated a small map with the locations, but honestly that is just nitpicking. The day after the tour we ran into Peter again, but without his cap you almost don’t recognize him. Peter, thank you for the great tour. And if you ever come to ’s-Hertogenbosch, send me a message. I may not know everything about the city, but I would happily buy you a pint. That usually makes up for a lot.
The tour of Bruges was cancelled the day before due to lack of interest, which was rather disappointing.
There are several different walking tours advertised but if you are in any doubt choose this one. Peter was an excellent guide, extremely informative with a great sense of humour. It was a great tour from start to finish. I thought 2 hours might be a long time walking around but didn't notice as we were constantly entertained. He even took photos of the group, and of individual groups/couples within, which he emailed to us later that day. Thank you Peter for a very enjoyable afternoon.
