Relais & Chateaux Hotel Heritage

We stayed here for our baby’s birthday and Melinda and her team were amazing from start to finish. They surprised us with lovely birthday cards, champagne, chocolates, and balloons to celebrate both our anniversary and our baby’s birthday. The staff were incredibly friendly and thoughtful, and everything was perfect. We had such a wonderful stay!

Fantastic front desk team, full of helpful suggestions. Valet parking was perfect. I scheduled time in private sauna which was very enjoyable. Wonderful inclusive breakfast. And the rooms were lovely!

It’s a lovely hotel and what you would expect from a Relais & Châteaux property. The restaurant is excellent, the staff are warm and welcoming, and overall I had a very enjoyable stay. I had both breakfast and dinner in the restaurant, and the food was outstanding on each occasion. As a young solo traveller, I felt very comfortable and well looked after, and the other guests were friendly and respectful. My only disappointment was the bed. Before arriving, I specifically requested a double bed and was assured this would be provided. However, the room had two single beds pushed together with a double sheet over them, which was exactly what I had hoped to avoid. I also found the turndown service unusually early, at around 5pm, which felt a little inconvenient. I also paid for the breakfast package that included Champagne. On my first morning, this was never offered, which was disappointing considering it was part of what I had paid extra for. If the hotel paid a little more attention to the finer details, it would be close to perfect. My main piece of advice would be to focus on anticipating guests' needs. For example, the hotel could see that I had a dinner reservation in its own restaurant at 7:30pm and schedule the turndown service while I was out, rather than arriving at around 5:00pm. That is entirely what you should except from a Relais & Châteaux. Unfortunately, on this occasion, they fell just short of the high standard I expect from the brand. However, they did rectify the issue when I arrived at front desk, and scheduled a turndown service while I was eating dinner. Hence I am still rating 5 stars. They also misspelt my surname quite badly, and in one Whatsapp message called me the wrong name entirely, I assume the name of the previous guest of my room. Despite the minor issues, I would happily recommend the hotel to friends and would certainly consider staying here again. I imagine it would be especially magical at Christmas.

We stayed at the Hotel Heritage in Bruges 15 years ago & it was excellent. This time around it was even better! Faultless service (going above & beyond with recommendations & helping us sort out bookings & transfers), brilliant location (central but quiet) and gorgeously appointed rooms & facilities. When (not if!) we return to Bruges we will definitely be staying at the Hotel Heritage again.
