Because the person staying in the room had changed, we were denied access to the room even though we had already paid for it. We politely asked if they could simply check us in again using our passports, but the woman at the reception refused to help in any way. When we had no choice but to ask for another room, she claimed there were no rooms available. However, right in front of us, she allowed other guests to check in. We had just arrived in the city and didn’t know the area at all. She wouldn’t even let us charge our phones. It was cold outside, but she didn’t want us sitting inside, so she locked the door and even threatened to call the police. I still don’t understand why she treated us that way. I have never experienced such treatment in my life. The way we were treated made us feel unwelcome and unfairly judged. I sincerely hope no future guest has to go through the same experience. After the hotel’s response, I would like to clarify that our passports were presented, we were willing to comply with all legal requirements, and we even offered to pay for a new room. We were still refused accommodation. The issue was never the law—it was the lack of basic human decency shown by your receptionist.

My family and I stayed at Martin’s Relais for one night. We had two rooms, which were both nice, however one was definitely nicer and newer than the other. The less nice one just had a few things that needed to be deep cleaned (like a little mildew in the shower), but ultimately the rooms were still nice and had nothing really unmanageable that I would write about in this review. The main reason for the 2 stars is because our experience with a staff member at the front desk (Zaki) was so horrible. He was so rude to myself and my family on several occasions for no reason.
We stayed at Martin’s Relais in the Library Suite for the first night of our honeymoon and it was the perfect start. The suite itself was beautiful, full of character with amazing décor and a real Bruges charm. It felt special and romantic but still really comfortable. The bed was honestly one of the comfiest we’ve stayed in too. The location was perfect, close enough to walk everywhere with the canals, restaurants and main sights all nearby, while still feeling peaceful when you got back. A stunning hotel, a beautiful suite and a first night of our honeymoon we’ll always remember. We’d definitely love to come back.
We stayed here during the May bank holiday. Because it is also a long week in Belgium, most of the hotels were fully booked. I can find a free room here, however with a surprisingly high price for that night. Apart from the price, the room is quick spacious, the breakfast was also perfect. We had a good time at Brugge.
We had a wonderful 3 night stay here. We were given a room (#51) which was a very nice, cosy apartment by itself, albeit with steep and narrow stairs. Due to the historic character of the building, it may be challenging for those with mobility issues. Breakfast with bubbles is good and it was 25 euros pp. The service and location are just great and this place would definitely be my first choice in Brugge.
